93+ JG. "While the Charmes-Chambertin does not hail from vines owned by the Drouhin family, the domaine has been buying grapes from the same family for decades now in Charmes-Chambertin and these old vines produce consistently one of the best examples of this underrated climat in all of Burgundy. The 2010 is a stunning wine in the making, soaring from the glass in a blaze of cassis, black cherries, grilled meat, espresso, Gevreys’ black minerality, mustard seed, woodsmoke and a nice touch of cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with a rather powerful personality, beautiful transparency, a very sappy core of fruit, ripe tannins and simply superb length and grip on the soil-driven and sappy finish. A great bottle of Charmes in the making and a wine not to be overlooked in the rush to secure bottles of the “usual suspects” chez Drouhin."
