92 RP. Dark ruby/purple color exhibits considerable saturation and suggests admirable richness. The bouquet jumps from the glass, offering up jammy aromas of blackcurrants, minerals, spice, and subtle new oak. This impressively built wine possesses great richness, full body, adequate acidity, and layers of concentrated fruit. Although soft enough to be consumed, its exceptional concentration, balance, and intensity suggest it will last for a minimum of two decades. Readers will have to have the right contacts to secure a bottle or two of the 100 cases (4 barrels) of this wine, made from a one-acre, hillside vineyard in the Stag's Leap area. The vineyard was planted with vine cuttings from the famous Grace Family Vineyard in Napa. The wine is outstanding. Wine Advocate #91, Feb 1994 |
