"(13.7% alcohol; this wine was vinified by Heidi Barrett at Grace Family Vineyards): Bright medium ruby-red. High-pitched aromas of cassis, violet, licorice, bitter chocolate, cedar and cardamom, plus a whiff of leather; smells a lot younger than 20 years old. Plush, ripe and sweet in the mouth, with flavors of cassis, cocoa powder and spices nicely framed by harmonious acidity. Finishes brisk, suave and persistent, with fine-grained tannins nicely supported by saline extract. Very well-judged extraction here--not to mention strong starting material." Vinous, Jun 2016 |
