Lot #4844. Peter Jakob Kühn Rheingau Riesling Beerenauslese #20 1996

Description: Consists of 2 Half Bottles, 0.375L
Region: Germany, Rheingau.
Score: "Peter Jakob Kühn went from obscurity to fame in the course of the 1990s, but unsatisfied, four years ago he set himself new challenges (including bio-dynamic practices) in the vineyards and cellar. Scrupulously organic viticulture, spontaneous fermentation, maceration, long lees contact, late bottling, and above all a willingness to respect the contingencies of nature are among the approaches . . . . But the strikingly distinctive personality of each of Kühn's many bottlings is precisely what surprises and delights, not to mention, he says, what makes it interesting and fun to pursue his vocation. It would be hard to conceive of Rheingau Riesling stylistically less like that of Kuhn’s neighbors, the Spreitzers. Wine Advocate #179, Oct 2008
Provenance: The Sea Cliff Cellar
Lot Location: Orange County
Estimate: $300
