Lot #408. Siro Pacenti Brunello di Montalcino Riserva PS 2010

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Score: 97 WA.
"Only made in the best years, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva PS is a phenomenal achievement. The wine was produced in 2006, 2007, 2010 and will also be released in 2012 and 2015. Fruit is sourced from across a five-hectare vineyard in the northern part of the appellation, but only 1,500 bottles are made using the very best fruit. This is an incredible wine that shows a promising evolution in the glass. The bouquet is fluid and graceful with a very precise and focused delivery. Dark fruit is contrasted against pressed rose, smoked spice and crushed graphite. The finish is silky and very long. Attractive tones of savory smoked meat appear at the very end. Giancarlo Pacenti is one of the most detailed-minded growers in the appellation. Thanks to his old vines and the fact that he farms so much land in the northern, cooler quadrant of the appellation, Giancarlo has made some beautiful wines in 2011. The absolute scene-stealer is the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva PS that is a delight to drink. Giancarlo explains his winemaking philosophy as follows: 'If you mistakenly spill a drop of black paint into a bucket of white paint, you change the color of the whole bucket. But if you spill a drop of white paint into a bucket of black paint, nothing happens. That's why it's important not to make mistakes.'" Wine Advocate #223, Mar 2016
