Lot #4471. Ingrid Groiss Gemischter Satz Braitenpuechtorff 2018

Description: Consists of 12 Bottles, 0.75L
Score: . WA.
"The 2018 Gemischter Satz Braitenpuechtorff blends numerous grape varieties planted and picked as a field blend from calcareous conglomerate vineyards in the neighborhood. The pale-yellow wine opens with a super clear and elegant aromatic bouquet of ripe white fruits and reveals an attractive freshness in the background. Lush and almost oily but by no means heavy or rich on the palate, this is a medium to full-bodied, fresh and aromatic white with fine acidity and nice bitters on the finish. This field blend brings together Chardonnay, Müller Thurgau, Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Frühroter Veltliner, Neuburger, Zierfandler, Rotgipfler, Sämling, Roter Veltliner, Grauer Vöslauer, Hietl Rote, Weisse Vöslauer and Silberweisse. The grapes were macerated for eight hours and pressed without stems. After the fermentation in stainless steel, the wine was kept on the lees for four months. '2018 is not a vintage that is characterized by sharp acidity, firmness and light-footedness, but it is definitely a vintage for consumers,' says Ingrid Goiss. 'The wines are very juicy and easy to drink.' Goiss is very happy with the vintage: 'We harvested everything by hand and longer than many colleagues in the Weinviertel, who were almost finished by early September. In retrospect, I am very happy that we picked our vineyards later. We started in the beginning of September with the early vineyards. Then came a rainy weekend with about 100 millimeters of rainfall in total, and this was just perfect. After the rain, the grapes started to develop taste, whereas the sugar gradation remained almost stable while the acidity increased.' The resulting Rieslings and Veltliners are stimulating, clear, fresh and elegant and come highly recommended. Ingrid Groiss is now an EU-certified organic wine producer."
