"Light gold. Very ripe, musky aromas of mango, lemon drop, butter, honey, oatmeal and roasted meat on the drop-dead gorgeous nose; this is much more exotic than the Rangen from the same vintage . Rich and broad on entry, then explosive in the middle palate, saturating the mouth with ripe citrus and spicy tropical fruit flavors that remain light on their feet thanks to penetrating but harmonious acidity. Really coats the palate on the rising, extremely long and complex finish. About 5% of the grapes were hit by noble rot, adding further complexity and depth to what would have been an outstanding wine even without its presence. This will age effortlessly, but it's so good now it's hard to resist opening a bottle (or two)." Vinous, Sep 2013 |
