Lot #382. Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard 1970

Description: Consists of 9 Bottles, 0.75L
Score: 95 JG.
"The 1970 Heitz Martha’s showed so well that I thought this was another perfect bottle of the ’75 Joseph Phelps Eisele with which I had been blown away by two weeks earlier. The flamboyant bouquet on the ’70 Martha’s is stellar and typically marked by its mint-eucalyptus component, with notes of cassis, blackberries, chocolate and subtle vanillin oak soaring along with the mint. I usually associate a more red fruity signature to Martha’s, but the 1970 is emphatically from the black fruity side of the ledger. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep, long and classy, with impressive elegance, a fine core of fruit, melting tannins and a long, silky and intensely flavored finish. This is a fantastic wine that is clearly in the same league as the legendary 1974." View From the Cellar, May/Jun 2007, Issue #9
