94 ST. "Remarkably youthful ruby-red color. Inviting nose combines black cherry, raspberry and menthol, plus a suggestion of fruits macerated in alcohol. Very rich and very ripe, with flavors of black raspberry, black cherry, roasted coffee and chocolate given definition by harmonious acidity. Offers compelling sweetness and fullness without any heaviness. The wine's serious dusty tannins could still use a few more years to resolve but it's already showing the personality to offer pleasure with some time in a decanter. Winemaker Yves Confuron noted that 'the only problem with Pommard is that it's normally austere when young.' This one is developing splendidly." Vinous, Mar 2018 |
