94+ JG. "Despite the hail storms in Montée de Tonnerre, which did significant damage, the Raveneau example is stellar. This wine shows none of the more laid back nature of the Brocard version, as it soars from the glass in a laser-like mélange of apple, lemon, gentle notes of pear, beeswax, very complex, chalky minerality and plenty of spring flowers in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure, with a rock solid core of fruit, a lovely sense of reserve on the attack and outstanding structure and cut on the beautifully focused and very long finish. A superb wine." John Gilman, View From the Cellar, Jan/Feb 2009, Issue #19 |
