98 JG. "There are only seven barrels of Chevalier-Montrachet in the Sauzet cellars this year, with two of them new barrels, making the percentage of new oak here just under twenty-nine percent in 2010. The wine is utterly profound, soaring from the glass in a hauntingly refined blend of pear, delicious apples, tangerine, a magically complex base of chalky minerality, apple blossoms and a deft framing of new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very, very pure on the attack, with flawless focus and balance, a brilliant core of fruit, stunning inner tension and magical length and grip on the young and utterly pure finish. Brilliant." John Gilman, View From the Cellar, Nov/Dec 2011, Issue #36 |
