Nine Remarkable Collections Highlight Spectrum Wine Auction’s Second Anniversary Sale December 3 and 4 at The Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

(November 17, 2011; IRVINE, CA)—Spectrum Wine Auctions, a California-based auction house whose live sales have realized nearly US$37 million since launching in November 2009, is set to celebrate its second anniversary with a live auction in Hong Kong on December 3 and 4, 2011, featuring offerings from nine highlighted collections of remarkable provenance and spectacular condition. Highlights include more than 600 lots of top-shelf Burgundy, with a magnum of 1999 Henri Jayer Cros Parantoux, cases of Domaine Meo-Camuzet, a veritable plethora from Leroy, as well as nearly 175 lots of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.

More than 1,600 lots with rarities from virtually every major wine region with a pre-sale estimate of over US$6.5 million (HK$50,375,000 million) will be offered in the sale.  Richard Brierley, head of fine wine at Vanquish Ltd., was auctioneer at Spectrum’s record-setting Autumn Wine Auction (US$6M; HK$46,500,000).  He will once again charm the bidders during the live auction while other interested parties around the world can bid via state-of-the-art real-time online bidding software over the Internet, or by phone.

Over the past two years Spectrum Wine Auctions has realized an incredible expansion in order to enhance worldwide customer service, by growing its operations in California with the purchase by parent company Spectrum Group International of a new 55,000-square-foot office building, and opening new offices in Paris and San Francisco, and establishing new Asian headquarters in Hong Kong. The Norman Burnam Collection: Armed with priceless knowledge and insights, the late Mr. Burnam collected only the best Bordeaux, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and other great Burgundies in case quantities, all from reputable retailers, which have been in the continuous possession of Mr. Burnam and his heirs ever since. The collection has impeccable provenance, beautiful cosmetic appearance, fantastic fills, and almost all of the wine was purchased on release or as futures. It features blue-chip First Growth’s, and other top Bordeaux including a case of Château La Mission Haut-Brion from the legendary 1982 vintage.

The Majestic Cellar: Property of Passionate New York Connoisseur Part II features three cases of pristine 2001 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée Conti assortment cases in OWC, as well as a case of the 100-point Robert Parker rated 2000 Château La Clusiére and five lots of the of the 100-point Wine Advocate rated 1990 Jaboulet Hermitage La Chapelle.

The Blue Chip Cellar Part III: The Blue Chip Cellar has been a featured Spectrum Wine collection for three sales, and the focus of this prodigious collector has now turned to Burgundy, with fabulous quantities of Leroy, Mugnier and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The sale features twenty-four bottles and one rare magnum of 2005 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche, as well as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée Conti from 2008, 1999, and a branded six-bottle case of 1996. Other top producers, including Domaine Armand Rousseau, Domaine Georges Roumier and a very rare magnum of 1999 Henri Jayer Cros Parantoux, round out this extraordinary offering.

Other collections include The Lone Star Collection featuring a diverse offering of rare and fine wine from Barbaresco to Vosne-Romanée; An International Gourmand Collection showcasing various formats of 1971 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti, from standard bottle to Methuselah; A Dragon’s Cache of DRC representing one of the largest single consignments of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti ever brought to auction; The Gold Coast Cellar, sourced via a well-known celebrity collection, offers a case of the hard-to-find debut vintage of 1992 Screaming Eagle, bottles of 1978 Henri Jayer Richebourg, and Domaine de la Romanée-Conti from the best vintages, including 1990, 1985, 1978, 1971 and 1962; Direct from a Prestigious Bordeaux Cellar Part II, rare wines purchased directly from Bordelais négotiants and producers; and The Liberty Bell Collection, a colorful array of Burgundy from the renowned Domaine Meo-Camuzet and a number of significant First Growth Bordeaux, including OWC lots of 1989 Château Lafite Rothschild, 1990 Château Mouton Rothschild and 1989 Château Haut-Brion.
