Lot #19. R. López de Heredia Rioja Gran Reserva Viña Bosconia 1947

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Score: 98 VM.
"Light bright red; looks about 40 years younger than it is. A multidimensional bouquet evokes cherry pit, smoky herbs, tobacco, cedar and dried rose, with a hint of orange peel in the background. Sappy, palate-coating and alluringly sweet, with creamy cherry and dark berry flavors and a velour-like texture. Becomes spicier and more exotically floral in the glass and, bizarrely, seems even fresher after a half hour of aeration. The finish strongly repeats the cherry and floral notes and hangs on with terrific energy and mineral-tinged sweetness. No way I'd have come within 20 years of guessing this wine's age." Vinous, Sep 2010
Provenance: The Tower Cellar
Notes: 4cm, light adhesive residue on wax capsule, very lightly scuffed wax capsule, damp stained, lightly scuffed, lightly bin soiled label.
