94 AM. "From a tiny 0.0749 ha parcel in Chassagne; Fontaine made his first wine from these vines in 1996. Stylistically, this resembles much more closely the Bâtard than the Criots as the aromas and flavors are certainly ripe but remain balanced and pure. Massive in every respect with copious, palate staining extract plus a remarkable mineral character for a wine this big and powerful and the balance is exquisite. Fontaine has been on a roll as of late with his Monty and the 2001 just continues that string as this evidences stunning potential." Burghound.com, Jul 01, 2003 |
