Lot #588. Petrus 1959

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Region: France, Bordeaux, Pomerol.
Score: 99 NM.
"Now this is a beautiful wine, flirting with perfection. A deep brown mahogany hue. The nose is divine: warm, rounded and inviting. Sweet red berried fruits, a touch of mocha and roasted herbs. Wonderful delineation and grace. The palate excedes my expectations, for despite the name I never expected this to flirt with perfection. Ripe, sumptuous red fruits, concentrated, focused with perfect acidity and balance. A hint of dark chocolate, even a slight gamey quality towards the wild strawberry tinged finish. If wine is meant to be enjoyed than this does that and more." Neal Martin, Wine Journal, Dec 1999
Provenance: The Tower Cellar
Notes: High shoulder, lightly scuffed capsule, nicked, lightly scuffed, and very lightly wrinkled label, Leed Imports/Lehmann Selection sticker partly overlapping top of label. From The Magnificent Private Cellar of Dr. Nils Stormby.
