94 RP. "Tasted 3 times with consistent notes. Leoville-Barton had a strong decade from the late forties through the fifties. The powerhouse 1959 is fully mature, but exhibits no signs of fading. It is large-scaled and muscular, with a huge, cedary, earthy, black fruit-scented nose, gobs of glycerin and alcohol, and a heady, spicy finish with some noticeable tannin. Will the 1982 be its contemporary counterpart?" Wine Advocate #95, Oct 1994 |
