96 AM. "100% vinified in wood; Billaud is of the belief that Blanchot is the most mineral-dominated cru in Chablis, indeed so much so that it can be a brutal and violent wine that must be ?tamed? by the wood, hence the different vinification philosophy; the Billaud vines directly abut Les Clos . . . . floral, citrus and almost pungently mineral and iodine-inflected nose that precedes the fresh, pure and refined flavors that possess exceptionally fine detail as well as excellent mid-palate concentration. The explosive and overtly salty finish very much resembles the nose as the minerality is almost aggressive though it is well-buffered by the seemingly endless reserves of mouth coating extract. Impressive in every respect; indeed this is a ?wow? wine." Burghound.com, Sep 10, 2012 |
