93 JG. " The nose is deep, complex and downright excellent, as it offers up a complex mélange of cassis, black cherries, grilled meat, coffee, fresh nutmeg, lovely soil tones and a fine framing of toasty new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish and very classy, with lovely complexity, fine mid-palate depth, excellent focus and balance, modest tannins, tangy acids and impressive length and grip on the poised and nearly ready to drink finish. A lovely, lovely bottle of 1996 Echézeaux. (Drink between 2013-2040)" View From the Cellar, Sep/Oct 2011, Issue #35 |
