Lot #131. Faiveley (Domaine) Mazis-Chambertin 2003

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Score: 92-95 AM.
"This may be the most aromatically complex wine today with noticeable wood spice that remains a background element, framing flat out gorgeous ripe pinot fruit and deep, rich and expressive plum and earth notes of superb nuance. The flavors are classic Mazis with that unmistakable sauvage character running the length of the wine and a massive level of dry extract that renders the flavors almost thick yet there is nothing heavy or inelegant about it. This will last for 3 decades, perhaps longer and will certainly require plenty of bottle age before it's ready for prime time but this is a great Mazis of Herculean proportions." Provenance: The Sea Cliff Cellar
Lot Location: Orange County
Estimate: $75
