92 NM. "A bottle served blind at the pre-Xmas lunch chez the Good Bishop Gill. A deep garnet core with a thin brick rim. The nose is quintessential ’66, masculine . . . on this bottle, great definition and vibrancy and definitely Pauillac. Cedar developing and then some iodine. The palate is medium-bodied with vibrant acidity, traditional claret at its best. Not complex, but very focused with slight abrasive tannins. Linear, yet wonderfully balanced with good ripeness on the leafy finish. Certainly a classy ’66 at its peak. Very lovers of classic claret." Neal Martin, Wine Journal, Dec 1999 |
