"The Cabernet Sauvignon-Cask 23 continues to display one of the most distinctive and exotic bouquets of any California Cabernet-based wine. The 1985 Cask 23 remains an awesome bottle of wine. The dense, impressive, dark ruby/garnet color has the appearance of a highly extracted wine. The nose seems to create an overload on one's olfactory senses. An extraordinary bouquet of coffee, chocolate, black fruits, cedar, hickory smoke, and super-ripe Damson plums roars from the glass. The wine has a voluptuous texture as well as extraordinary concentration and depth. These attributes only serve to partially hide the considerable tannins in the finish.
