95 JG. "In our tasting of tête de cuvées from the ’90, ’85 and ’82 vintages, the Comtes de Champagne was remarkably consistent and always amongst the one or two best bottles to be found from the vintage. Much like the 1985 and 1990, the 1982 Comtes de Champagne is both drinking brilliantly and beautifully balanced and promising plenty of life still ahead of it. The magnificent and à point bouquet offers up notes of apples, pears, almond paste, bread dough, chalky soil tones and a lovely bit of white chocolate. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and refined, with a fine core of fruit, pinpoint and still quite vigorous bubbles, bright acidity, and a very, very long, and still quite crisp finish. A beautiful wine with years and years of great drinking still ahead of it." John Gilman, View From the Cellar #5, Oct 2006 |
