Lot #1559. Gérard Bertrand Minervois-La Livinière Clos d'Ora 2016

Description: Consists of 6 Bottles, 0.75L
Packaging: OWC.
Score: 94+ WA.
"From a vintage with very small yields, the 2016 Minervois-La Livinière Clos d'Ora may be even more concentrated than the rich 2015 or 2012. Brown sugar and caramelized notes accent notes of blackberries and charred wood. Super ripe . . . . Hold it for a few years to allow the oak to mellow and the fruit elements to come forward, including the intriguing note of licorice on the long finish. For visitors to the Mediterranean coast of Languedoc, Gérard Bertrand's flagship Château l'Hospitalet in the La Clape appellation is well worth a stop. There's an extensive caveau with ample tasting and buying opportunities and a fine restaurant as well. The former Rugby standout has assembled an impressive lineup of 15 estates in Languedoc, with wines that cover a wide range of prices and appellations. My tasting at the estate focused on a selection of the firm's top wines, including a vertical of the $300/bottle Clos d'Ora, while the rosés were tasted in New York City."
