98 JG. "The symphony of quality that is the 2013 vintage at Domaine Méo-Camuzet reaches quite a crescendo with the Richebourg, which is simply brilliant and perhaps the greatest Richebourg Jean-Nicolas has yet fashioned here. The brilliant bouquet offers up scents of red plums, red and black cherries, cocoa, nutmeg, duck, musky floral tones, a superbly complex base of soil and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and stunningly elegant out of the blocks, with a sappy core, great soil signature and nascent complexity, laser-like focus, ripe, suave tannins and a very, very long, elegant and tangy finish. Richebourg is not my favorite terroir amongst the most rarefied grand crus in the Côte de Nuits, but if they were all as good as the 2013 Méo version, I might have to rethink my position! This is spectacular young wine." John Gilman, View From the Cellar, The 2013 Red Burgundies |
