92 AG. "Cabernet Franc takes center stage in the 2007 Experiment A2.7, a wine that impresses for its fabulous balance and overall harmony. Mocha, red cherries, spice box and crushed flowers are wrap around the palate in this supple, mid-weight offering. A rich, radiant finish rounds things out in style. The 2007 is 48.02% Cabernet Franc, 45.37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6.23% Merlot and 0.38% Petit Verdot, all done in concrete . . . . Ovid keeps raising the bar with this drop-dead gorgeous set of new releases. Owners Dana Johnson and Mark Nelson have spared no expense in their pursuit to make world-class wines. These new releases are a testament to their unwavering commitment to quality. This year I also tasted two of the ‘Experiment’ series wines, which bear creative names inspired by Dana Johnson’s background in Library Sciences. The talented Austin Peterson makes the wines, Andy Erickson consults and David Abreu manages the vineyards, but what really counts is what is in the bottle. The results so far from this young property have been nothing less than stellar." Wine Advocate #204, Dec 2012 |
