"The 2009 Clos de la Roilette was showing very well at the time of my visit in July of 2011 . . . . The nose is deep, complex and quite sappy in its mélange of roasted black cherries and plums, dark chocolate, woodsmoke, lovely spice tones, an incipient touch of chipotle pepper and a beautiful base of soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very sappy at the core, with stunning freshness for the vintage, ripe, well-integrated tannins and outstanding length and grip on the pure and palate-staining finish. While this has the raw materials to still drink very well right now, it is going into a period of adolescent hibernation and it would really behoove one to wait on this wine a few more years, as it will be so much better to drink when it fully blossoms."
