96 JG. "This was the first bottle of 2001 numbered auslesen that I tasted from the Maximin Grünhäuser estate, and it is a botrytized beauty of the highest order. The bouquet soars from the glass in a beautiful blend of pineapple, apple, candied lime, ocean air, kaleidoscopic slatey minerality, floral tones and a fresh dollop of honey. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, complex and laser-like in its focus, with a great core of fruit, stunning acidity, and an utterly profound, endless finish. This will be a timeless legend that should begin granting access in only a couple more years, but last for forty or more. Stunning young auslese."
