92 RP. "Their biggest cuvée comes from not only their own estate on Howell Mountain, but is supplemented with fruit from Oakville and Rutherford. The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Téres is similar to the other wines, offering notes of mocha, white chocolate, crème de cassis, licorice, forest floor and a touch of unsmoked tobacco in a pure, blackcurrant Cabernet Sauvignon personality. It is medium to full-bodied, with velvety tannin and should drink well for 15 or more years. The Adams family has successful vineyards on both sides of the Atlantic. Their small 28-acre vineyard is planted on a 78-acre estate, ranging from 1,500- to 2,000-foot elevations on Howell Mountain. Looked after by Philippe Melka, it is the American branch of their wine estates. In St.-Emilion they took over, renovated, and dramatically increased the quality of the wines of Château Fonplegade, which is now one of the overachieving estates in St.-Emilion. Here is a look at their three cuvées of 2014. These range in production from 100 cases of the Estate Cabernet to 500 cases of the Quintvs to 1,200 cases of the Téres." Wine Advocate #227, Oct 2016 |
