93 AG. "Marcarini’s 1999 Barolo La Serra has put on considerable weight in bottle over the last few years. A big, full-bodied wine, the La Serra flows across the palate with serious depth, power and richness. The tannins remain firm and intense. With time in the glass, the characteristic floral notes typical of La Serra begin to emerge, but this remains a brawny, intense Barolo still in need of cellaring. Hints of tobacco and autumn leaves grace the finish." Vinous, Aug 2014 |
