94 AM. "Unlike many '59s, the wine in 750 ml remains vibrant and alive and really the only difference between the magnum and 750 ml formats is a bit more freshness, which is to be expected. The note from 750 ml is: Moderate bricking though there is still a solid ruby core. Compared to the vast majority of '59s today, this is still wonderfully fresh aromatically with mostly ripe secondary notes nuanced by hints of sous-bois that can also be found on the rich, full, delicious, powerful and impressively deep flavors that deliver real complexity and plenty of finish power and sap on the seriously long finish. A terrific '59 that is more than holding its own while so many are now beginning to fade and it should continue to hold well . . ." Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Jul 2008 |
