98 RP. "Chapoutier has produced a 1994 Hermitage Vin de Paille. Only about 1000 bottles of this unfiltered wine were produced. Aged completely in new oak, it exhibits an amber color, a sweet butterscotch, peach, tea, and orange marmalade-scented nose, great structure, and amazing richness and length. Michel Chapoutier feels this wine, which tastes like ripe apricots, will last at least a century. Not many readers are in a position to argue with him." Wine Advocate #107, Oct 1996 |
