Lot #328. Domaine Leroy Romanée-Saint-Vivant 1988

Description: Consists of 1 Bottle, 0.75L
Score: 96 AM.
"(With thanks to Bruce Khouri). This is a wine that I have had the pleasure of following for a number of years. Beginning in 1998, it had begun to shut down and show more astringency than in prior years but I'm pleased to report that the incredible complexity, richness and spice have begun to emerge once again, particularly the aromatics. The nose is fantastically complex with a staggering range of spice, floral and still no hint of sous-bois with stunning depth to the big, powerful and rich flavors culminating in incredible length, this has to be tasted to be believed. This is just now knocking of the door of peaking and there is so much concentration that the '88 RSV will be alive and kicking 30+ years from now. Tasted at least half a dozen times with consistent notes . . ." Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Oct 2010
Provenance: The Mandarine Cellar
Notes: 2cm, slightly protruding cork, lightly wine stained wax capsule, very lightly scuffed and lightly wrinkled vintage neck ta, lightly scuffed and very lightly wrinkled label, sign of slight past seepage.
