96+ WA. "After aging just nine months in 300-liter barrels, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape (a blend of 92% Mourvèdre, 5% Grenache and 3% Roussanne, from 50-year-old vines in La Crau) offers bold aromas of black cherries accented by slightly floral, oaky notes. Full-bodied and rich, concentrated but not overly alcoholic, framed by supple, ripe, velvety tannins that turn long and dusty on the finish, this is a lovely wine that should age well for 20 years or more. Chimere is a Chateauneuf du Pape project from Manfred Krankl (of Sine Qua Non fame) that is produced at Clos St. Jean and sold only in magnums to members of the SQN mailing list, so I suspect this review is largely academic."
