"This small vineyard changed ownership during the last year. The 1999 was produced by Philippe Melka. The 1999 (500 cases; 100% Cabernet Sauvignon) possesses ripeness, viscosity, and richness. The fruit was picked at extremely high sugars (26.5 degrees brix and above), and thus the wine reveals wonderful blackberry and creme de cassis aromas along with spicy oak. Exquisitely pure, viscous, and rich, with sweet tannin and low acidity, this appears to be the finest Vineyard 29 yet produced." Wine Advocate #132, Dec 2000 |
