Spectrum Wine Auctions Bi-Monthly Internet-Only Auctions Offer Collectible and Cellared Wines With the Convenience of a Click

(November 8, 2010; Irvine, CA)—Spectrum Wine Auctions, California’s leading auction house of fine and rare wine and an industry leader in the implementation of cutting-edge technology, will hold its next internet-only auction on Nov. 11 at 10:00 a.m. PST. Spectrum Wine’s online sales are consignment-based and offer consumers around the world access to cellared wines of various price points, vintages and regions rarely found in traditional retail outlets. These online auctions offer many single bottle lots, a great opportunity for those wishing to buy collectible wines to consume without having to invest in a full 12-bottle case. The bi-monthly auctions are held in addition to Spectrum Wine’s quarterly live auctions in California and Hong Kong and are accessible at www.spectrumwine.com.

Spectrum Wine’s internet-only auctions take place in real-time on the second and fourth Thursday of every month with pre-bidding beginning two weeks prior. Spectrum Wine’s website makes finding a particular bottle easy with search capabilities sorted by region, producer, vintage and bottle size. Many of the lots feature reviews from wine critics and are displayed online via 360-degree bottle shots, allowing bidders to rotate and zoom in on images of the actual bottles to get an accurate preview of the bottle condition and ullage levels.

“One of the greatest benefits of Spectrum Wine’s internet-only auctions is the broad range of wines accessible with the click of a mouse,” says Spectrum Wine president, Jason Boland. “Bidders will find collectible wines from big name producers as well as lesser-known fine wines from all over the world that have been properly cellared and ready to enjoy,” he says.

Examples of the variety of wines available through Spectrum Wine’s online auctions are evident in the Nov. 11 sale. From an extensive offering of single bottle lots from Château Mouton Rothschild 1943-1994, to a single bottle of 1961 Petrus (est. $6,000), to a bottle of 2004 Peter Michael L’Espirit des Pavots (est. $45) and offerings from diverse regions such as Barolo, Rioja, Alsace and McLaren Vale, there is something for every wine lover.

Spectrum Wine Auctions is one of the few auction houses to offer sales during the summer and the only one to ship locally within Southern California during the summer months, using refrigerated shipping whenever necessary. For residents outside of Southern California, Spectrum Wine offers refrigerated storage and long-term wine management at the Wine Cellar Club in Irvine, the largest wine storage facility in Southern California.
