Lassegue 2020, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Emilion, Bordeaux
“Wide, powdery, fine but firm tannins; a lovely density to this. Concentrated and intense, very straight and streamlined. Finessed and focused. Clearly powerful, the energy is apparent, but all the elements are kept quite tight and controlled, so you're not getting so much expansion or nuance necessarily. Still, well worked with clarity to the fruit and tannins. Wet stone, liquorice, toasted caramel all giving elements of wood but integrated and supportive. Feels like a sleeping giant, will be good in time, sleek and stylish.” 95, Georgina Hindle, Decanter, Feb 2023

Lassegue 2013, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Emilion, Bordeaux
“It is in the most difficult vintages that you see the winemaker's hand; the length on this wine comes not from the depth of the fruit but from the gentle spicy notes of nutmeg and white pepper. Raspberry leaf and smoked earth comes through as things open. Helped in this vintage by the fact that the Seillans live on site at Serilhan, making it easier to treat at weekends, and this was a vintage when you certainly needed to do that” 90, Jane Anson, Decanter, May 2021

Bouchard Père et Fils Meursault Les Clous 2022, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Meursault, Burgundy
“There is a lovely freshness to Bouchard's Meursault Les Clous 2022 that brings a marvellous balance and length to the wine. The initial attack boasts aromas of citrus and apricot, acacia flowers and a saline minerality. There is richness as well, with notes of marzipan as the wine opens up on the palate. The grapes are from a parcel of over eight hectares that average 300 metres elevation, planted in stony marl soils that hold enough water to avoid stress in the summer's heat.” 93, Charles Curtis MW, Decanter, Oct 2023

Coudoulet de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône 2022, 0.75L
Rhône Blend from Côtes du Rhône, Rhône
“Bottled at the beginning of July, the 2021 Côtes Du Rhône Coudoulet De Beaucastel shows the fresher, focused style of the vintage yet brings beautiful fruit. Red, blue, and black fruits, peppery herbs, and underbrush notes define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, with ripe, polished tannins and a great finish. One of the stalwarts of the appellation, Château de Beaucastel continues to produce an incredible array of wines from their estate in the northwestern edge of the appellation. Looking at the vintages reviewed here, the 2022s are ripe, sexy wines that bring to mind 2019 or even 2009. The whites are absolutely brilliant, and while only tasted from barrel, the 2022s will certainly be incredible wines. The 2021s also showed well and possess more depth and density than most in the vintage. In general, Mourvèdre seemed more challenging in 2021, but you certainly wouldn’t have that impression after tasting at Beaucastel. The closest comparison here for the 2021s would be the 2008s, which are balanced, elegant wines that are still drinking beautifully today. The 2021s should be a step up in quality, although I suspect they will evolve along a similar trajectory. Lastly, the estate is wrapping up a massive renovation of the cellar that was built with sustainability front and center and will be using an evaporative cooling mechanism with stored rainwater.” 90, Jeb Dunnuck, Oct, 2023

Casa Lapostolle Clos Apalta 2021, 0.75L
Carmenere / Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon from Apalta, Colchagua Valley
“The 2021 Clos Apalta comprises 75% Carménère, with the remainder filled out by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, sourced from the eponymous Apalta Vineyard. It was aged for 24 months in oak barrels, two-thirds of which were new. This dark purple wine reveals nuanced aromas of graphite, herbs, dried plums and blackberry marmalade, complemented by mint, boldo and garrigue-like notes over a green bell pepper layer. Plush and ample on the palate, it is lifted by a mild refreshing quality that adds a rare nimbleness to its flow. This long-lasting red is a serious wine, less influenced by Michel Rolland's style than in other years, as the fresh vintage imparted a lighter, less ripe and more expressive character. Clos Apalta is one of those rare Chilean wines that reliably showcases the characteristics of each vintage while maintaining a consistent house style. That steadiness is a boon for consumers, as it allows them to appreciate the impact of different vintages, which is a significant part of the allure of high-quality wines.” 98, Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous, Jul 2024

Bodegas Albamar 'Pepe Luis' Albariño 2022, 0.75L
Albariño from Rías Baixas, Galicia
"Xurxo Alba is a magician, a winemaker who knows how to tease the best out of old-vine Albariño on granite soils. This comes from five coastal parcels and is another triumph from a brilliant winemaker. Fermented with full malolactic before ageing in German and Austrian foudres, it has struck match, laurel and sea breeze aromas, mouth-watering acidity and lanolin and waxed lemon flavours.” 97, Tim Atkin MW, Dec 2024
"One of the great wines of the region, this has an expressive nose reminiscent of grapefruit and white flowers. The palate is really energetic, driven by texture and acidity. Complex and multidimensional. This comes from two neighboring parcels in Castrelo close to the ocean. Aged for about 10 months in used barrels. Drink now." 96, James Suckling, Nov 2024

Zuccardi Malbec Serie A 2022, 0.75L
Valle de Uco from Altamira, Mendoza
“The varietal Serie A range includes wines from the "Argentinean" varieties, and the star of this range is, of course, the 2022 Serie A Malbec. Here they search for typicity from Valle de Uco, with freshness and flowers, red rather than black fruit, nice tannic structure and purity; they are not looking for complexity or limestone but varietal character, at which this excels. This has juiciness and structure and is fine-boned. It is very different from the Bonarda in this range. 600,000 bottles produced.” 92, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Nov 2022

BV Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Winemaker's Selection Rutherford 2020, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford, California
"Energizing tannins and vivid fruit acidity power the massive black fruits and intricate oak spices in this muscular but polished wine. Plump blackberries, baked blueberries, black currants and cedar all add to the compelling flavors. Built to improve and gain complexity with age, this wine should drink best from 2027–2037." 95, Jim Gordon, Wine Enthusiast, Dec 2023
“The Rutherford Reserve leads with black fruits, toffee and oak spices. Full-bodied with ripe sweet blackberry and black cherry notes, building tannins that are a bit granular. The wine has plenty of grip and is built on 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with 10% Petit Verdot, aged 21 months in 80% new French oak. It is nicely balanced with a pH of 3.64 and is one not easy to put down.” 94, Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter, Jun 2023
“The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Reserve is packed with dark fruit, chocolate, grilled herbs, leather and incense. In 2020, winemaker Trevor Durling added 10% Petit Verdot to add body, a decision that paid off handsomely. This is a very fine wine for the year. Chocolaty tannins linger on the close.” 92, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2023

O'Shaughnessy Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
“Blended from our three Estate vineyards in arguably the three best appellations within the Napa Valley: Howell Mountain, Mt. Veeder and Oakville. Howell Mountain gives us structure and ripe red fruit, while Mt. Veeder adds an extra punch of tannins along with savory mineral driven qualities, Oakville balances out the mountains with its silky texture and pure fruit. This Cabernet Sauvignon is ruby red with an opaque center. A sweet entry of milk chocolate and fresh caramel greets the nose. The palate is lush and rich with black cherry, plum, and blueberry. Fine-grained tannins are integrated seamlessly, making this an approachable wine with a long finish that can be enjoyed now or cellared for years to come.” Winery Notes

La Chenade 2021, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Lalande de Pomerol, Bordeaux
“Floral strawberry and cherry fruits, there is a soft creamy scented element to the fruits on the nose. Such well-balanced acidity and brightness on the palate, a real kick of life and burst of flavour with red berries but a minerality that’s really to the fore - the crushed stone, wet slate, graphite and liquorice coming through giving nuance and angles while the soft, silky tannins glide over the tongue. This feels gently round and persistent, a good weight in the mouth, not dense as such but layers of flavour and cooling touches. You get the expansion and this is sustained. Not heavy but refined and understated. Gorgeous terroir in the glass, no frills here but such precision and identity. Ageing in 30% new oak. 20,000 bottle production.” 92, Georgina Hindle, Decanter, Apr 2022
“The 2021 La Chenade is soft, supple and super-expressive right out of the gate. Silky tannins wrap around a core of red cherry fruit, plum, mocha, spice and new leather, with pretty floral and savory top notes that come alive with a bit of time in the glass. La Chenade is all Merlot this year, as the Franc was used for the Cruzelles.” 91, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2023

Duckhorn Merlot Napa Valley 2022, 0.75L
Merlot from Napa Valley, California
Inspired after a visit to Bordeaux, Dan Duckhorn produced the first vintage of Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley Merlot in 1978. Highlighting Estate vineyards and top sites, our renown Merlot reflects the diversity of the valley’s many appellations. Blending with Cabernet Sauvignon adds notable depth and structure, as well as signature flavors of black cherry, plum and spice.
Production Notes - Varietal Composition: 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc
Winemaker Notes- This wine opens with an alluring nose of floral notes and dark red berries, characteristic of a quintessential Napa Valley Merlot. The palate is supple and polished with a seamless integration of fruit and tannin, enhanced by the inclusion of Cabernet Sauvignon and a hint of Cabernet Franc. The long, vibrant finish highlights meticulous craftsmanship and perfect balance
Production- Winter and spring provided ample rain, which allowed the vines to set a generous crop with excellent canopies. Budbreak arrived a little over a week early, and we enjoyed warm, steady weather throughout spring and summer. We began picking Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and some Merlot as early as mid-August, but the first big push began after a Labor Day heat event, when our generous canopies paid dividends, helping shade the grapes. After a busy few weeks, a cool spell allowed the remaining grapes time to mature. To counter the impact of modest mid-September rains, we applied a careful fruit drop, and were equally diligent during sorting. Overall, harvest lasted eleven weeks, delivering wines with excellent concentration, supple tannins, lovely finesse and dynamic acidity.

Clerc Milon 2015, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Pauillac, Bordeaux
“This needs time, even in the glass, but it is rich, confident and really rather wonderful. Good quality, with depth and complexity to the fruit - it's not going anywhere soon. It has chewy tannins that are clearly just gearing up. Easily one of the best Pauillacs I’ve tasted from this vintage. Still pretty austere up front but with huge potential. Coffee, cinnamon and chocolate touches. 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Carménère to finish the blend.” 96, JA, Decanter, Nov 2018
“Extremely floral with blackberry and blueberry character plus hints of violets. Full-bodied yet always in check and reserve with fine tannins and bright acidity that goes on for minutes. Limestone undertones. The finish is particularly long this vintage. Super Clerc.” 95, James Suckling, Feb 2018
“Densely structured and firm, this wine has weight, rich black fruits and great concentration. The tannins are still considerable, with obvious potential. This estate is now on top form. Drink this impressive wine from 2026.” 95, Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Apr 2018

Cardinale 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
“The perfect 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon checks in as 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot, all of which spent 22 months in 80% new French oak. The idea of this release is to showcase fruit from throughout the valley, and to say that winemaker Chris Carpenter succeeded would be an understatement. It boasts off-the-charts richness and depth as well as notes of cassis, toasted spices, graphite, tobacco, and espresso, with perfectly integrated oak. Inky purple-hued, full-bodied, voluptuously textured, and flawlessly balanced, it can be drunk any time over the coming 25 years or more.” 100, Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2023
“Lovely purple fruits with violets, lead pencil, mint, crushed stones, pine needles, resin, and ceramic. Medium to full body with ultra-fine tannins that show a silky beautiful texture. Blend of Stags Leap, Saint Helena, Yountville, and Atlas Peak plus all the mountain vineyards of Cardinale. A blend of 91% cabernet sauvignon and 9% merlot. 3,500 cases produced.” 99, James Suckling, Nov 2023
“In my tasting with winemaker Chris Carpenter, we talked at length about differentiating sub-appellations of Napa in the Lokoya wines. Still, with Cardinale, the Oakville-based crown jewel in the Jackson Family portfolio, the idea is the sum must be greater than the parts. This is not an estate wine. It is culled from multiple appellations, typically between three and nine, depending on the vintage. Sources have been Vine Hill Ranch and To Kalon in the past. The 2021 is 91% Cabernet Sauvignon from Stags Leap, Rutherford, and St. Helena, with 9% Merlot from the 24ha Keyes Estate Vineyard on Howell Mountain, aged 22 months in 80% new French oak. Super savoury aromatics of black cherry, cedar, black liquorice, graphite, black tea, tobacco leaf, rose petal and sagebrush. Full-bodied with all those aromatic qualities making appearances on the full-bodied palate, framed by a soaring tannin profile that resolves with beautifully crisp and mouthwatering acidity, which is so impressive given the density of the wine. The acidity is so pure and cleansing it gives the sensation of fresh, crisp mountain water washing away the deeply robust and powerful tannins that frame this powerhouse wine, readying you for another sip.” 98, Jonathan Cristaldi, Jul 2024

Mee Godard Morgon Corcelette 2022, 0.75L
Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais
“This enchanting wine boasts a lovely perfumed nose with hints of plummy fruit and floral notes on the initial attack, while the palate features an impressively sweet fruit character, a silky, very fine texture and rewarding length. Godard observed that her Moulin à Vent is normally the ‘ethereal’ one, but the Corcelette seems to have usurped that role in 2022. The grapes come from three parcels in lieu-dit Bellevue and one in Montillet that total 1.5 hectares.” 93, Charles Curtis MW, Decanter, May 2024

Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Mt. Veeder, California
“Insane aromas of black currants, crushed stones, violets, and sweet dark tobacco. Black truffle. Full-bodied with superb depth of fruit and plush and chewy tannins that give tension and length. It reminds me of the 1975 La Mission Haut Brion because of the stone, iodine and purple fruits. Love. Made from 100% cabernet sauvignon. 883 cases produced. Needs four or five years to come together.” 100, James Suckling, Nov 2023
“Since 1995, Lokoya has produced Cabernet from the Veeder Peak Estate at 548m on the western ridges of the Mayacamas Mountains. This is a do-not-open wine for until at least 2026. Full-bodied with palate-arresting tannins that are super-compact, long, and so densely pixelated they etch themselves into every nook and cranny on the palate. Only a minute later does your mouth find release as this thread of crunchy acidity begins to sweep away the powerful tannins to reveal the underlying blue fruit and violet aromatics that are so beautifully pure and youthful. Simply put, tuck it away for several years and then, if you can, explore bottles every few years until your stash runs out. In the low-yielding 2021 vintage, the skin-to-juice ratio is such that this may prove to be one of the longest-lived Lokoya wines yet, given the intensity of the tannin and the freshness of the underlying acidity. Chris Carpenter makes the Lokoya wines, and the label is owned by the Jackson Family. There are four 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wines in the portfolio, each from a different mountain: Diamond Mountain, Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain, and Mt. Veeder. The winemaking is the same for all the wines, with mostly native yeast fermentation, pump-overs by hand, malolactic fermentation in barrel and ageing for 22 months in 90% new French oak. What separates these wines is not style but place. Carpenter believes that fine Napa Valley Cabernet wines are not only defined by the soils of their sites but also by the Bay Area Pacific breezes that roll in and out daily, cooling the valley from the south to the north in the evenings and from the north to the south in the mornings. These mountains define cooling as any place in the valley and the diurnal temperature shifts at higher elevations create an equilibrium where climatic fluctuations aren't as pronounced as fruit grown below the fog lines.” 99, Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter, Jul 2024
“A massive, powerful, full-bodied beast of a wine that reminds me of a great vintage of Ch teau Latour with its structure and regal character, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder offers a beautiful bouquet of blackberries, wild cherries, iron, spring flowers, and wild scrub brush. It's concentrated, has massive extract and richness, no shortage of tannins, and a huge finish. It's not for the instant gratification crowd and needs 7-8 years of bottle age, but it will see its 30th birthday in fine form.” 98+, Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2023

Pyramid Valley Vineyards Sauvignon + 2023, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc from Canterbury, South Island
“The 2023 Sauvignon+ is 100% Sauvignon Blanc this year. However, the fruit is not all Marlborough, with a small portion (7%) of North Canterbury fruit included. The result is a retrained, elegant, herbal expression with sage and chamomile characters joining delicate red apple flavors. It is textured and has an appealing phenolic character that leaves you licking your lips and contributes a reassuring structural note on the quiet finish. A little more length would elevate this further. It is quite the antithesis of what you might consider classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, which means it's not just the acidity that makes this wine rather refreshing.” 92, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, Apr 2024

Sea Smoke Pinot Noir Estate Ten 2022, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sta. Rita Hills, California
Hand-harvested, clusters were sorted in the vineyard and then gently destemmed following an evening in our cold room. All ‘jack stems’ were removed on the sorting table. Musts were cold soaked in open-top fermenters for five days, and then inoculated with cultured yeasts to begin slow fermentation. Each tank was manually punched down two times per day, with a total maceration time of sixteen to twenty-eight days. Upon completion of primary fermentation and maceration, all free run wine was transferred to tank for settling, and then pressed at extremely low pressure (0.08 bars) to avoid extracting bitterness. After settling overnight both free run and press wines were racked to barrels. Ten was bottled with no fining and no filtration.
A brooding and intense wine. The aromas begin with notes of blueberry, cassis, a hint of lavender followed by a myriad of exotic spices, some hazelnut, thyme and an element of licorice. Firm, mature tannins—evidence of Ten’s ageability—are followed by a long, velvety finish.

Jérôme Chezeaux Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Nuits St. Georges, Burgundy
The Vaucrains" have a fairly deep colour, a powerful nose hinting at reserve. With its very present tannins, "Les Vaucrains" can seem a little severe in their youth. This full-bodied wine requires patience in order to give them time to calm down and assert themselves. Winery Notes

Clos des Rocs Pouilly-Loché Clos des Rocs 2022, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Pouilly-Loché, Burgundy
This wine comes from a 3-hectare Clos managed under sustainable practices with no use of herbicides. The east-facing vines are 70 years old. The shallow terroir consists of reddish soil mixed with limestone stones, with bedrock often found just 30 cm below.
After manual harvesting, the grapes are pressed slowly. A light static settling is performed to retain as much material as possible before fermentation, which is often very long. This process occurs thanks to the indigenous yeasts naturally present on the grapes. No additives, except for meticulously added sulfites, interfere with the birth of this wine.
The wine has a powerful nose, delicate with notes of hawthorn and pears. The palate is round and generous with ripe fruit, supported by balance and purity. A truly great wine for aging, already pleasant to taste.

Montevertine Toscana IGT 2021, 0.75L
Sangiovese Blend from Toscana IGT, Tuscany
“The 2021 Montevertine is shaping up to be majestic. It presents a mind-boggling display of explosive aromatics, vibrant fruit and driving structure. The purity of the flavors is stunning. I tasted the 2021 from a single cask of the blended wine following the first racking. This is the first vintage that includes a new parcel in Radda located at the far end of town. Rich, dense and very potent. The 2021 is embryonic but also incredibly promising.” 94--97,Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jun 2023

Giuseppe E. Figlio Mascarello Barolo Monprivato 2020, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont
"The fragrant 2020 Monprivato boasts enticing floral aromas of rose and violet that mix with ripe berry, dark spice, crushed mint and whiffs of underbrush and sun-warmed hay. On the full-bodied, delicious palate, velvety tannins wrap around succulent red cherry, raspberry compote, blood orange and star anise before an almost salty close. While it’s already almost accessible, a trait of the vintage, it has the freshness, energy and fruit to go strong for years. Drink 2026–2038." 96, Kerin, O'Keefe, Dec 2024

Montepeloso Eneo IGT 2022, 0.75L
Sangiovese Blend from Toscana IGT, Tuscany
“The 2022 Eneo is superb. Rich and expansive on the palate, the 2022 offers up an exotic mélange of black cherry, plum, leather, licorice, incense and espresso. There’s gorgeous mid-palate depth and plenty of textural richness, but in the more restrained style that informs these wines today. The long, silky finish is pure class.” 95, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2024

Montepeloso A Quo IGT 2023, 0.75L
Sangiovese Blend from Toscana IGT, Tuscany
“The 2023 A Quo is a very pretty and delicious entry-level offering from proprietor Fabio Chiarelotto. Crushed berries, flowers, orange peel and spice lend notable freshness, but it is the wine’s effusive charm that wins the day. There’s so much to like here.” 91, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2024

Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 2017, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc / Sémillon from Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux
“One of the whites of the vintage is the 2017 Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc, which is based on 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% each of Sauvignon Gris and Semillon. Offering a huge, salty, mineral-laced bouquet of crushed lemons, acacia flowers, pineapple, and crushed rocks, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, racy acidity, a stacked mid-palate, and a crisp, chiseled, lengthy finish that keeps you coming back to the glass. It has the fruit and texture to drink nicely even today, yet my money is on it benefiting from 2-4 years of bottle age, and it should have over two decades of longevity.” 97, Jeb Dunnuck, Feb 2020

Les Hauts de Smith Blanc 2022, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc from Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux
"The 2022 Les Hauts de Smith Blanc (Sauvignon Blanc) is terrific. It offers a gorgeous mix of the exuberance of the year but tempered by picking that started very early, in mid-August. Apricot, mint, tangerine oil, hazelnut and passionfruit lend notable exuberance and textural richness, but there’s plenty of energy too.” 90-92, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2023

Double Diamond Cabernet Sauvignon Schrader 2022, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
“The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon offers concentration, lively acidity, and refined tannins that have become the hallmark of the 2022 vintage. The nose holds notes of black raspberry, toasted cedar, juicy plum, and pennyroyal mint—a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon signature. The palate is mouthwatering with intricately woven layers of blackberry compote, dark chocolate shavings, oolong tea, and flint. The dynamic flavors carry across the mid-palate in vivid harmony into a long, floral finish. This wine is ready to drink upon release but will cellar well for years to come.” Winery Notes

Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley, California
“The 2019 Pinot Noir Wendling Vineyard is totally beguiling. High-toned aromatic, mid-weight structure, silky nuanced and super-expressive a wine of tremendous allure and deceptive beauty. Not totally immediate as most wines are in this range, but rather a Pinot that demands the full attention of the taster. (Drink between 2021-2034).” 95, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2021

“The 2022 Pinot Noir Clow Ridge Vineyard is redolent of black cherry, plum, gravel, spice, dried herbs and incense. Dark and mysterious in the glass, the 2022 is wonderfully complex from start to finish. It's the sort of wine that continuously changes in the glass, revealing myriad shades of nuance over time.
