Bibi Graetz Grilli 2016, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc / Syrah / Merlot from Tuscany, Tuscany

"The 2016 Grilli is a blend of 60% Cabernet Franc, 20% Syrah and 20% Merlot (all from vineyards in Chianti) that is fermented and aged in steel vat to preserve the freshness and the fruit-froward nature of the wine. Grilli is also Bibi Graetz's only wine made with Bordeaux or international grapes instead of Italian indigenous varieties. You get great value at this price point especially if you are looking for a mid-weight red for immediate drinking that is intense, soft, ripe and succulent. The wine opens to a beautifully saturated color with dark veins of crimson and inky purple. The bouquet is redolent of blackberry preserves, sour cherry, dark plum, bitter almond and grilled rosemary twig. The finish closes with subtle tones of menthol or medicinal herb. Drink this wine within the next two or three years. Some 30,000 bottles were made." 90+ Points Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate

Dautel Spätburgunder 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Württemberg, Württemberg

"The 2018 Spätburgunder trocken displays a dark cherry color and opens with a pure and refreshing, yet still reductive bouquet of blackcurrant, cherries, cassis, underwood, toast and iodine. Bottled with 13% alcohol this is a very charming, light-footed and refreshing Pinot with a silky-texture, stimulating acidity and phenolic grip. The wine is fine and intense, always fresh and tight on the finish, representing a great vintage for Pinot Noir—the finish is pure, long and intensely fruity yet without sweetness or any masking oaky, toasty notes. This is simply an impressive Pinot in the entry-level price class. Tasted from AP 31 19 in June 2020." 91 Points Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate

Cantina Terlano Cuvée Terlaner 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Blanc / Chardonnay / Sauvignon Blanc from Alto Adige Terlano, Trentino Alto Adige Südtirol

"The lovely 2019 Alto Adige Terlaner Cuvée is fresh and buoyant with citrusy notes that are followed by wild sage, crushed stone, spicy saffron, toasted pine nut, Golden Delicious apple and crispy pear. The cuvée is a blend of 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon Blanc, and the results are only partially aged in oak (about 20%) to add a little extra dimension and texture. The wine underlines its primary fruit and the youthful intensity that is achieved with the 2019 vintage. Salty mineral notes appear on the close. An ample 220,000 bottles were produced, and you get terrific value here." 92+ Points Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate

"I like the minerality and spiciness of this blend of pinot bianco, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc with a medium to full body, creamy texture and lots of flavor at the finish. Some flint in the aftertaste. It’s compact and controlled. A blend of 60% pinot bianco, 30% chardonnay and 10% sauvignon blanc. Drink now." 93 Points James Suckling

Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Rare Brut 2006, 0.75L
from Champagne, Champagne

"The flagship release is the 2006 Champagne Rare, a 70/30 split of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that’s a cellar selection from 8 different Grand Cru vineyards. Tight, backward, and straight-up structured, it offers brilliant notes of stone fruits, toasted brioche, white flowers, and obvious minerality. Needing plenty of air to show at its best, this beauty has a wonderful mid-palate, a racy mousse, and the balance and class to cruise for over two decades in cool cellars." 97+ Points Jeb Dunnuck

Jean et Sébastien Dauvissat Chablis Les Preuses 2016, 0.75L

"Pale lemon-yellow. Much more closed on the nose than the old-vines Vaillons, hinting at honeysuckle. Tighter in the mouth than the Vaillons as well but still in a supple, rich style for this cuvée, with an element of sweetness nicely buffered by firm acidity. Spreads out impressively to saturate the palate on the silky finish, with piquant notes of lemon oil and ripe grapefruit lingering." 92-95 Points Stephen Tanzer, Vinous

Schrader Cabernet Sauvignon Mondavi Heritage Clone Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, California

"This is the very first vintage of this new label for Schrader. True to Schrader form, the wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a single block in the southern part of Mondavi’s section of To Kalon vineyard. The “Heritage Clone”, a.k.a. clone 39, is pretty much exclusive to Mondavi To Kalon, with the exception of some cuttings Robert Mondavi may have given out. Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown noted that this clone produces very small bunches and tiny berries, equating to super-intense fruit. A barrel sample, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Mondavi Heritage Clone To Kalon Vineyard displays a very deep purple-black color, offering amazing intensity on the nose of blueberry coulis, warm cassis and blackberry pie scents with underlying hints of roses, fragrant soil, Darjeeling tea and tree bark. Medium-bodied, fantastically intense and very tightly wound, it has loads of mineral layers intertwined with fine-grained, firm tannins and bold freshness, finishing very long. Evocative, singular and truly exciting, I can’t wait to taste this from bottle! 572 cases are due to be made." 97-100 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate

Schrader Cabernet Sauvignon CCS Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, California

"I almost always find the CCS cuvée to be the most complete wine in the lineup, and the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard CCS doesn’t do anything to change my opinion. Revealing a deep purple hue as well as a massive bouquet of crème de cassis, white flowers, graphite, and wet stone-like minerality, it has an incredible purity and elegance paired with a massive, rich, full-bodied profile. Still aging in 100% new French oak, it’s a magical wine in the making." 98-100 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Schrader Cabernet Sauvignon GIII Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford, California

"Moving to the 2018 barrel sample, this was described as a cool, although not cold, year by Brown that had terrific hang time. In general, the wines offer evidence of the longer hang time with their ripe, seamless tannin profiles. The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard comes from a historic, larger valley floor site and displays terrific blue fruit, sappy herbs, and a gravelly, earthy sense of minerality. It’s full-bodied, dense, and backward on the palate, with loads of structure." 97-99 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Domaine Testut Chablis Côte de Bréchain 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"Cyril Testut is a new grower to me in Chablis, but I was very impressed with the few examples of his wines that I was able to taste for this article. His 2018 villages level wines of Côte de Bréchain hails from fifty year-old vines. This lieu á dit is beautifully-situated, lying on the same ridge as Montée de Tonnerre, just to the east of and looking across the very narrow valley at Blanchot. The wine is excellent, with lovely tension on the palate for the 2018 vintage. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a blend of apple, wet stone minerality, straw, citrus peel and a touch of beeswax in the upper register. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and focused, with fine mineral undertow, a good core of fruit and excellent balance and grip on the long and zesty finish. This is still a puppy and could use a few more years in the cellar to allow its secondary layers of complexity emerge. First class AC!." 90 Points John Gilman, View from the Cellar

Von Winning Deidesheimer Paradiesgarten Riesling Trocken 2019, 0.75L
Riesling from Deidesheim, Pfalz

"The 2019 Deidesheimer Paradiesgarten Riesling is very fine and sublime as well as complex on the deep, multi-layered and coolish, terroir-driven and slightly flinty nose that is really spectacular for this price point. It comes from vines grown on the eastern slope of the 1er cru (an extension of the Langenmorgen Grand Cru) on deep, calcareous loam and red sandstone. This is an elegant, juicy, very fine and salty-piquant Riesling with a core of white stone fruits and notes of peach stone. The finish is long and intense and is carried by vivacious, structuring acidity. The aftertaste reveals flavors of white vineyard peach. This is a beautiful wine and by far the best Paradiesgarten I have tasted from this producer. Tasted as a sample in May 2020." 92-93 Points Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate

Jean et Sébastien Dauvissat Chablis Vaillons Vieilles Vignes 2016, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"Very pale lemon-yellow color. Reticent but pure scents of minerals and lemon oil. Then seriously rich and fat in the mouth, but with more acidity and structure than the basic Vaillons cuvée. This large-scaled premier cru, from a crop level of just 25 hectoliters per hectare, shows terrific citrus and mineral firmness but it's also plush and sweet and not at all hard. I was surprised when Dauvissat told me it weighs in at 14% alcohol, as it boasts plenty of buffering material. Syrah from Santa Barbara County, California

"Tasted out of bottle, the 2018 Syrah Santa Barbara County is another terrific wine that could be 2-3 times the price. Elegant, complex notes of red plums, blackberries, toasted spiced, peppered meats, and flowery incense all give way to a medium to full-bodied Syrah that has silky tannins, no hard edges, and just a balanced, layered style that’s impossible to resist. Willi Schaefer Graacher Domprobst Riesling Kabinett #03 2019, 0.75L
Riesling from Graach, Mosel

"The 2019er Graacher Domprobst Riesling Kabinett was fermented down to fruity-styled levels of residual sugar. It offers an absolutely tantalizing and hugely complex nose made of yellow peach, minty herbs, grapefruit, lime peel, a hint of whipped cream, and fresh lily flowers, all wrapped into fine residual scents from the spontaneous fermentation. The wine has grip, energy, and great focus on the palate, yet remains at all moment extremely light and balanced. A bracing and spicy touch of acidity then kicks in, giving the wine structure and blending the flavors together as well as whipping them up right into the tight and hugely long finish. This remarkable Kabinett in the making is set to become a modern-day legend!" 96 Points Mosel Fine Wines

La Torre Brunello di Montalcino 2015, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

"If you love the traditional side of Montalcino, Luigi Ananìa's La Torre makes some of the best and most consistent wines you will find. Their 2015 Brunello di Montalcino reveals a quality of fruit that is both plump and succulent, and this is very much a characteristic of the 2015 vintage. However, the house style is extremely precise and focused. It starts off slowly, revealing itself in small steps before coming into full bloom. The wide aromatic span of the wine should become even more prominent with three or four more years of cellar age. This wine does a nice job of matching the acidity of Sangiovese to the generous fruit of the warm 2015 vintage. Some 13,000 bottles will be released in March 2020." 95+ Points Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate

Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2018, 0.75L
Grenache / Syrah from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône

"Another in a string of top vintages, Beaucastel's 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape was produced from Grenache yields of only eight hectoliters per hectare ("normal" is about 28 hectoliters per hectare, according to Marc Perrin). The final blend I was shown is almost candied in its fruity intensity of raspberries and cherries, yet it has a potent underpinning of more savory elements, like tapenade, grilled meat and dried spices. Full-bodied, with fine, silky tannins, this shows tremendous length, reverberating with hints of crushed stone on the finish." 95-97 Points Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate

Chapelle Saint Theodoric Chateauneuf-du-Pape La Guigasse 2017, 0.75L
Grenache from Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône

"More powerful than its Le Grand Pin stablemate, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape La Guigasse is made the same minimalistic way—100% whole-cluster Grenache from a single site, in this case a sandy parcel in the lieu-dit La Guigasse. Raised in demi-muids for two years or more, depending on the vintage, it has some meaty, charred notes that could be barrel-derived, but the overall oak impact is probably more textural than olfactory. Hints of rose petals, cherries and even orange zest join with darker toned notes of cola and dried spices in a whirl of complexity that's complemented by the wine's silky tannins. It's full-bodied but feels lighter, filling the mouth with its flavors while leaving the palate refreshed on the long finish." 96 Points Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate

Smith Haut Lafitte Le Petit Haut Lafitte Rouge 2016, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux

"The 2016 Le Petit Haut Lafitte is a fabulous second wine from Smith Haut Lafitte. Inky blue/purplish berry fruit, lavender, menthol, licorice and cloves give the Petit Haut Lafitte its striking aromatic complexity. Deep, resonant and exquisitely layered, the 2016 is a real joy to taste. I would cellar it for another year or two. Mayacamas Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Mt. Veeder, California

"The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is every bit as monumental as it was from barrel last year. Rich, deep and powerful, the 2016 is endowed with tremendous fruit concentration and all of the structure to back it up. Wild, savory and super-expressive from the very first taste, the 2016 is utterly magnificent. Wild cherry, grilled herbs, new leather, licorice and mocha infuse the 2016 with tremendous brooding power. The 2016 represents a striking, contemporary expression. All the Mayacamas signatures are there, but with just an extra kick of finesse that makes the 2016 a Cabernet of total allure." 99 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Doyard Oeil de Perdrix Rosé Extra Brut 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne

"The 2015 Doyard Oiel de Perdrix Extra Brut Millésime is composed from a cépages of seventy-five percent pinot noir and twenty-five percent chardonnay, with the pinot noir hailing from Aÿ and the chardonnay from Avize. The vins clairs do not go through malolactic and are given some extended aging in old Burgundy casks prior to bottling up for secondary fermentation in September of 2016. The wine was aged thirty-six months sur latte and disgorged in September of 2019, with a finishing dosage of three grams per liter. It is quite pale in color and offers up a beautiful bouquet of white cherry, peach, rye bread, chalky soil tones, dried flowers, discreet spice tones and just a whisper of oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and complex, with fine mid-palate depth and soil signature, bright acids, frothy mousse and a long, vibrant finish. This is a beautiful wine that is absolutely built for the table!" 93 Points John Gilman, View From the Cellar

Bruno Paillard Rosé Première Cuvée Extra-Brut NV, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne

"The new release of Bruno Paillard “Rosé Première Cuvée” is from the base year of 2015, with its customary generous foundation of reserve wines dating back to 1985. The wine is primarily pinot noir, with a minor percentage of chardonnay included. The wine was disgorged in October of 2019 and finished with a dosage of less than six grams per liter. The color is its customary pale salmon and the nose offers up a very refined blend of tangerine, wild strawberry, a hint of watermelon, chalky soil tones, brioche and a touch of rose petal in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and complex, with a fine core, outstanding balance and grip, fine mineral drive, elegant mousse and a long, refined and vibrant finish. This is stellar juice." 93+ Points John Gilman, View From the Cellar

Domaine de la Bastide Blanche Bandol Cuvée Estagnol 2015, 0.75L
Mourvèdre from Bandol, Provence

"The single vineyard bottling of Estagnol from the Bronzo family is made from fifty year old vines, with the cépages of this bottling being ninety-two percent mourvèdre and eight percent grenache. The soils here are limestone and clay and the rows are planted east-west, which delays ripening a bit (and is certainly beneficial in this age of global warming). The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in old foudre. The 2015 Estagnol delivers a fine aromatic constellation of sweet dark berries, cassis, roasted meats, a touch of pepper, bonfire, a fine base of soil and just a hint of garrigue in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and full-bodied, with plenty of sappiness at the core, superb structure and grip, ripe tannins and a long, nascently complex and very promising finish. This wine is listed at 14.5 percent octane and carries its ripeness very well indeed, with only a hint of backend heat. It is a proper vin de garde and will demand plenty of cellaring time before it blossoms, but it will be excellent in due course." 93 Points John Gilman, View From the Cellar

Domaine Rapet Bourgogne Rouge En Bully 2017, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Bourgogne, Burgundy

". . .The Bourgogne rouge is grown at an altitude of 350 meters on the slope facing les Hautes-Côtes on the locality named La Grande Corvée de Bully. The soil here is marly with a shallow top-layer.

Bully was an ancient property, no longer existing, which at the time belonged to Abbaye de Maizières. The term Bulliaco from 925, derived from "bubbles", refers to the existence of a gushing spring (Fontaine Bully) close by. La corvée, a term used under the feudal system, designates the days of work owed by the tenants to the monks of the Abbey." Producer Notes, Domaine Rapet

Cruse Wine Co. St. Laurent Pétillant Naturel 2019, 0.75L
St. Laurent from Carneros, California

"The 2019 Sparkling St. Laurent Pétillant Naturel has a pale onion-skin color and minerally aromas of chalk over crushed red berries and toasty hints. In the mouth, it's characterized by creamy mousse and gentle, clean berry flavors, finishing with a kiss of sweetness. Since this is bottled partway through fermentation—to create the bubbles in bottle and maintain the desired sweetness—bottles of this will vary, but the pressure will be around four bars, a bit less energetic than the average sparkling wine, which contains about four to six bars of pressure. Cruse Wine Co. is now using a gyropalette instead of hand-riddling these bottles, so they will have a bit of a haziness instead of looking perfectly crystal clear. In this instance, the wine usually macerates for approximately 30 days before being racked and prepared for the malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 3 years in stainless steel and an additional 4 to 12 months in bottle before release." Importer Notes, Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Domaine de Villaine Rully Les Saint-Jacques 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Rully, Burgundy

"Our vineyard in the "Les saint-Jacques" parcel is located at the foot of an east-facing slope, just below the Clos Saint-Jacques- one of the Rully's most famous premiers crus.
Planted in 1990, this vineyard is the legacy of an old Côte d'Or vineyard-it is made up of moderate-yield Chardonnay selections. The charm of our Rully Les saint-Jacques lies in its finesse nd subtlety of aroma rather than its power. . ." Producer Notes, Domaine de Villaine

Its light ruby color is followed by a perfumed, complex, medium-bodied 2018 with terrific purity of fruit, lots of spice, decayed flowers, and forest floor notes, gorgeous balance, and integrated acidity. Domaine Tempier Bandol Rouge 2018, 0.75L
Mourvèdre / Grenache / Cinsault / Carignan from Bandol, Provence

"At Domaine Tempier grapes from our different vineyards are skillfully blended to create this wine, made up of between 70 and 75% Mourvedre (depending on the year) combined with Grenache, Cinsault and a hint (2%) of old Carignan. This fruity, well balanced wine can be enjoyed after 3 or 4 years, but develops extremely pleasant tertiary aromas (leather, animal and undergrowth) with further ageing. The wine’s balance gives it an ageing potential of 15 years or more.

The Cuvée Classique blend combines grapes from the estate’s different terroirs. In the area known as ‘Le Petit Moulin de la Cadière’, named after its windmill, the vines grow on south-facing terraces stretching out over hilly terrain. The soil in this part of the vineyard is characterised by the presence of fossilised seashells (85 million year old bivalve molluscs). Clay is found to varying depths throughout the estate’s soil and, although the clay is quite dense, alluvial layers comprised of silt-sand sediment deposits are also present. One might think these looser layers in the soil would have little influence on the wine, but in fact they provide excellent drainage which helps to produce very refined wines." Producer Notes, DomaineTempier.com

Anthill Farms Chardonnay Peugh Vineyard 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Russian River Valley, California

"The 2018 Chardonnay Peugh comes from a vineyard originally planted in 1887 and grafted to Chardonnay in 1944. It was made with 20% new Austrian oak and has bright notions of petrichor, lime peel, green herbs and green pineapple with honeyed notes in the background. The palate is medium-bodied and satiny, swelling with savory flavors that are refreshed by mineral accents and lively acidity, and it finishes very long. The dynamic dichotomy of brightness and savory bass tones is compelling and provides a hint of what this may be like with another five years in bottle." 94+ points Erin Brooks, The Wine Advocate

La Vizcaina (Raúl Pérez) Bierzo Las Gundiñas 2018, 0.75L
Mencia from Bierzo, Castilla y León

"La Gundiñas is the wine that shows the most differences between 2017 and 2018, when the 2018 La Vizcaína Las Gundiñas feels like a mini-Bonnes Mares! This happened in 2013, and this 2018 is like a refined version. This vineyard was somewhat irregular in the past, but they bought it in 2018; now that they work the vineyard and have 100% control, it might be more regular. There have been ups and downs with this wine over the years, and this 2018 is clearly one of the ups. The other highlight was 2013. This wine is the palest of the 2018s. It's from a vineyard that perhaps has a bit more white Valenciana grapes. This is super elegant, a rara avis. Bravo! 5,500 bottles were filled in May 2020." 95 Points Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate

La Vizcaina (Raúl Pérez) Bierzo El Rapolao 2018, 0.75L
Mencia from Bierzo, Castilla y León

"There is a bit of an animal hint on the nose of the 2018 La Vizcaína El Rapolao, which Raúl Pérez tells me is always part of the character of the wine when it's young. The difference with the 2017 is the quality of the tannins, which rounder and more elegant here, and the concentration, which is lower here, so this 2018 comes through as more fluid, fresh and elegant, with a silkier mouthfeel. They finally bought the vineyard in 2018, and the change in viticulture resulted in lower yields: they produced 6,000 bottles of this 2018, compared with the 10,000 bottles of the 2017. They have bought three more plots for this bottling, so volumes will grow in the future. The initial sensation fades after the wine has been in bottle for one hour, and it makes sense that it's gong to disappear with some more time in bottle. Pérez thinks it might be related to the recent bottling. It was bottled in May 2020, a few weeks before I tasted it." 95+ Points Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate

La Vizcaina (Raúl Pérez) Bierzo La Vitoriana 2018, 0.75L
Mencia from Bierzo, Castilla y León

"This 2018 La Vizcaína La Vitoriana includes vines that were replanted in 2014/2015 with Bastardo (Merenzao or Trousseau), so the wine is more aromatic, more ethereal, perfumed and elegant, really impressive. This is the most aromatic and impressive; there is a conjunction of everything, the north-facing vineyards. It has impressive depth and expressiveness; it's wild but refined, explosive and more Burgundian than any of the la Vizcaína wines. This has character and attitude, light, power, energy, freshness and symmetry; it has a fine thread, lace-like, really impressive. In my head, Tom Jones started singing his famous song "Sex bomb, sex bomb..." This is an incredible wine at an incredible price point. 5,800 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2020, only five weeks before I tasted it, and the wine felt relaxed and expressive. Things can only get better with a little more time in bottle. This could very well be the finest vineyard from the project. It's a small paraje, and there are only six owners (Castro Ventosa, Vinos Valtuille and two or three small grape growers); there is a part that is abandoned, and part of it is also south facing. The whole cru could be between three and four hectares." 97 Points Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate

Famille Brunier Vaucluse Le Pigeoulet 2018, 0.75L
Grenache / Syrah from Vaucluse, Provence

"A blend of mostly Grenache and Syrah (there are small amounts of other red varieties), the 2018 Vaucluse Le Pigeoulet offers a complex style in its kirsch, herbes de Provence, white pepper, and floral aromas and flavors. This beauty is sweetly fruited, with polished tannins, loads of charm, and a great finish. In the Brunier family since 1898, Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe lies on the eastern edge of Châteauneuf du Pape and covers 60 hectares of some of the finest terroir out there, the famed la Crau plateau. Looking at the winemaking, the estate has destemmed all their grapes since 1989 and the wines see all native ferments, with no temperature control, and aging all in older foudre. In addition, due to the recent completion of a new state of the art winery, the grapes are now moved only by gravity. While 2016 was an incredible vintage for this estate, they’ve produced brilliant wines in both 2017 and 2018. Chartogne-Taillet Les Couarres Extra-Brut 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Merfy, Champagne

"Alexandre Chartogne’s 2015 Les Couarres is composed entirely of pinot noir. He barrel ferments the vins clairs for this wine and gave them a bit of extra aging in the cellar prior to bottling them up for secondary fermentation in July of 2016. It aged four years sur latte prior to disgorgement in June of 2020 and finished with a dosage of “approximately” six grams per liter. The wine delivers a superb bouquet of apple, white peach, a touch of hazelnut, fresh-baked bread, a fine base of soil tones and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with a bit of oak influence showing up on the backend, a fine core, lovely soil signature, refined mousse and a long, classy finish. This is certainly quite drinkable today, but the bit of palate oakiness it shows today might be a good reason to give it a few years in the cellar, just to allow this element to integrate as well on the palate as it already has on the nose." 92+ Points John Gilman, View from the Cellar

Domaine de la Vieille Julienne Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Hauts Lieux 2016, 0.75L
Grenache / Mourvèdre / Counoise / Cinsault from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône

"A true “wow” wine, the deep, concentrated 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Hauts-Lieux (there's 20% Mourvèdre) offers awesome notes of blackcurrants, smoked meats, graphite, crushed rocks, and licorice. Extraordinarily concentrated, perfectly balanced, structured, and long, it's another sensational wine from this estate. It needs 4-5 years of bottle age and will cruise for 15-20 after that. Vieille Julienne’s Jean-Paul Daumen is unquestionably one of the most talented winemakers in all of France. Since taking over the domaine in 1990, the estate has gone from strength to strength, and the list of truly extraordinary wines from this small terroir located on the northern edge of Châteauneuf-du-Pape is mind-boggling. And there are no secrets; Jean-Paul focuses first and foremost on his vineyards, which are all farmed organically and sustainably, minuscule yields, no SO2 during vinification, aging in neutral foudres and tank, and bottling unfined and unfiltered. The result is a naked, raw expression of this magical terroir and old vines. Speaking about the 2016 vintage, Jean-Paul called it an enormous vintage, comparing it to 2001 yet with a style all its own, and commented that the wines were powerful yet also delicate. I can’t disagree, and the Châteauneuf-du-Papes across the board are monumental wines. You don’t have to splurge for the Reserve cuvée either, since the Les Trois Sources and Haut-Lieux releases are both extraordinary wines. I’ve also included the Daumen releases here, which can be thought of as super-negociant wines where Jean-Paul is directly involved with all aspects of the vineyards and winemaking. In short, there are few wines I’d rather have on my table than those from Jean-Paul Daumen!" 99 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Apricot, mint and light tropical notes add character to this very pretty, expressive Chablis that is a bit tight on the finish but will open up nicely with time." 90 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Philippe Foreau (Domaine du Clos Naudin) Vouvray Sec 2016, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Vouvray, Loire

"Foreau says they were lucky to have produced a dry wine in 2016 because of frost. Pushing the envelope of dry at 7 grams per liter residual sugar, but balanced by big, thrilling acidity. Expressive and lively, with aromas and flavors of grilled apple and yellow plum, peach, honey and acacia. Notes of smoke flow through to the long, salty finish. There’s a lot of tension here. An absolutely thrilling wine." 95 Points Jason Wilson, Vinous

Louis Michel Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"Not surprisingly, the 2018 Montée de Tonnerre is one of the more structured premier crus in the cellars this year and it will want some bottle age to start to stir. The potential here is excellent, with the very pure and precise nose offering up scents of green apple, smoke, flinty minerality, citrus zest, spring flowers and a hint of the beeswax to come with bottle age. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nascently complex, with an excellent core of fruit, fine transparency and grip, snappy acids and a long, soil-driven and vibrant finish. This is a first class example." 94 Points John Gilman, View from the Cellar

Arnot-Roberts Syrah Clary Ranch 2017, 0.75L
Syrah from Sonoma Coast, California

"The 2017 Syrah Clary Ranch is striking. Deep and resonant on the palate, the 2017 has so much to say. Some of the angular edges and intense savoriness the Clary Ranch can show have been soften by the intense heat of the year. Silky, fine tannins wrap around a core of dark cherry, plum, lavender, spice and pepper. A Syrah of power and structural intensity, the Clary Ranch is incredibly distinctive, and that is in a lineup in which many of the wines are exceptional. Two thousand-seventeen is a superb vintage for the Clary Ranch Syrah." 96 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Bachelet-Monnot Saint-Aubin En Remilly 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from St. Aubin, Burgundy

"The 2018 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru requires a little coaxing from the glass, but is well worth the effort, revealing beautifully defined malic aromas, mixed with wet limestone and fumé scents that blossom after a couple of minutes. The palate is extremely well balanced with a fine bead of acidity that cuts through the green apple and fresh pear notes. Quite linear and taut, it reveals fine depth toward the finish, though it needs just a tad more persistence on the aftertaste. This should evolve into a top-rank En Remilly." 91-93 Neal Martin, Vinous

Y. Clerget Meursault Les Chevalières 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Meursault, Burgundy

"The 2018 Meursault Les Chevalières is raised in 20% new oak. It has an energetic bouquet, focused and razor-sharp, featuring mineral-rich green apple and mirabelle aromas. Like the aromatics, the palate is taut and focused, with white peach, apricot and a touch of orange peel. There is a pleasing edginess toward the finish that lingers in the mouth. This does not quite deliver the fireworks due to the limitations of the terroir rather than any shortfall in winemaking, but I can see it offering a decade’s worth of drinking pleasure." 92 Points Neal Martin, Vinous

Fermented with 35% whole clusters and aged 19 months in 30% new oak, it has lots of salty red and black fruits, earth, forest floor, and spicy aromas and flavors, medium to full body, a stunning texture, great mid-palate depth, and enough tannins to warrant short-term cellaring. Montevertine Rosso di Toscana 2017, 0.75L
Sangiovese / Canaiolo / Colorino from Tuscany, Tuscany

"The 2017 Montevertine is rich, creamy and beautifully resonant on the palate. Over the last year it seems to have gained an extra bit of freshness, which is of course such a plus in this very hot, dry vintage. Montevertine is often austere, but the 2017 is unusually open today, not to mention incredibly delicious. There is plenty of tannin beneath all of that vintage 2017 fruit. Even so, opening a bottle young is not a crime by any stretch of the imagination. Black cherry, leather, sweet pipe tobacco, licorice and earthy notes develop with aeration, showing just a glimpse of what is in store for those who can wait. The 2017 is a striking wine in every sense. Floral notes reappear on the finish, adding further dimensions that will continue to unfold over the coming years." 96 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Domaine Gallety Côtes du Vivarais Rouge 2016, 0.75L
Grenache / Syrah from Côtes du Vivarais, Rhône

"If the king of the southern Rhône—Grenache—married the queen of the northern Rhône—Syrah—and had a beautiful child that bore the best features of each, that prince would be Domaine Gallety’s red Côtes du Vivarais. Here, in the small commune of Saint-Montan, halfway between Cornas and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Alain Gallety and his son David-Alexandre grow Syrah and Grenache and craft this rouge with equal parts of each. Syrah’s savoriness and notes of pepper, together with Grenache’s stoniness, are balanced by an open-knit structure and ripe juiciness that make this wine ready to drink today. Because Côtes du Vivarais is less well known than the storied appellations of the North and the South, this red stands among France’s best values." Tom Wolf, Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant

Lady of the Sunshine Sauvignon Blanc / Chardonnay Chevey Oliver's Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc / Chardonnay from Edna Valley, California

"A collaborative effort in practicing organic farming at Oliver's Vineyard in Edna Valley, owned by Talley Vineyards.  This block was planted in 1991 and is located on the southwest side of the valley, four miles from the coast on a mix of sandy clay loam soils.  This playful blend is inspired by the traditional blends of the Cheverny region.  The two varietals were harvested on the same day and foot tread and soaked on skins overnight before being whole bunch pressed separately.  The juice was fermented with native yeast in neutral french oak barrels and aged on lees for 8 months before its first racking to blend before bottling, unfined and unfiltered. Domaine de Reuilly Reuilly Les Pierres Plates 2018, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc from Reuilly, Loire

"Once known as “poor man’s Sancerre,” the wines of Reuilly deserve a new moniker. “Bargain Sancerre” would be more appropriate, or we could just stop comparing the poor thing to Sancerre in the first place. Denis Jamain’s Pierres Plates is from his best Sauvignon Blanc vineyard, named after all the “flat” fossil-encrusted limestone rocks in its soil—soil he has worked organically for many years. This bottling is consistently one of the Loire’s finest Sauvignon Blancs, showing delicate lime and floral suggestions that sleekly envelop a chalky core. Enjoy it with oysters, with fresh goat cheese, or simply because it provides delightful refreshment at great value." Importer Notes, Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant

Von Winning Ruppertsberger Reiterpfad Riesling Trocken #13 2016, 0.75L
Riesling from Ruppertsberg, Pfalz

"Smoky peppercorn, piquant peach kernel, nose-wrinkling ginger, boxwood and lemon peel as well as a toasty hint of oak make for a formidably forceful and complex nose. Happily, all of those aggressive notes are accompanied on a firm but subtly oily palate by juicy peach flesh and bright Meyer lemon. The finish activates the salivary glands and leaves the palate tingling and glowing in its evocation of salt, pepper, raw ginger and peach kernel. This ball of energy should prove fascinating to follow." 92 Points David Schildknecht, Vinous

Berthaut-Gerbet Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Rouge 2017, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, Burgundy

"Amélie’s Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits planted in 1970 on the plateau behind Vosne-Romanée. The topsoil here is shallow clay and limestone on limestone bedrock—quite typical for what one would find up on these plateaus. With rocky soils such as where this wine is grown, the tendency is to destem the grapes. You can expect tension and bones here along with a naturally high mineral frequency—a common occurrence in wines from these kinds of rocky sites. Its cement fermentation, old wood aging and early bottling also serve to confine the wine’s fantastic freshness to the finished product. Personally, I love drinking wines from vineyard parcels like this because they’re stripped down by the rocky terrain with their minerally-ness displayed at the forefront." Importer Notes, The Source

Daniel Bouland Morgon Corcelette Sable Vieilles Vignes 2018, 0.75L
Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais

"From vines planted in sand—which is now indicated on the label—in 1927, Bouland's 2018 Morgon Corcelette Vieilles Vignes Sable unfurls in the glass with notions of ripe plums, red cherries, smokes meats, violets and black pepper. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, with a broad attack, considerable depth and dimension at the core, juicy acids and a long, intense finish. Powerful and concentrated but framed by velvety tannins, this brilliant Morgon is the antithesis of facile, ephemeral Beaujolais nouveau!" 94 Points William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

Daniel Bouland Morgon Pré Jourdan 2018, 0.75L
Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais

"The entire contents of the five-year-old foudre that contains Bouland's 2018 Morgon Pré Jourdan were reserved by his US importer, so overseas consumers may have a hard time finding this superb wine, which hails from lieu-dit near the village in the direction of Fleurie. Aromas of blackberries and spices mingle with notes of rose petals, violets and potpourri in a bouquet that has taken on a discrete patina from its comparatively new foudre. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, layered and succulent, with fine and powdery tannins, ripe acids and a perfumed finish." 93 Points Wine Advocate

"The northern and western most of our Chardonnay plantings lie in our Sonoma Coast vineyards. Metered by the persistent influence of the Pacific, these sites all owe their soils to the sands derived from ancient ocean bed layers. Du Grappin Bourgogne Blanc 2017, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Bourgogne, Burgundy

“Bourgogne Blanc Du Grappin is a “Tête de Cuvée”, five of our favourite barrels from our parcel of Chardonnay near the town of Péronne. These were large format barrels, three years-old on average, that had an extra layer of complexity that demanded bottling separately. Fermentation was done by native yeasts, as was malolactic conversion by naturally occurring lactic bacteria. We are lucky to have a great microbial ecosystem in our ancient winery in the walls of Beaune, continually used for winemaking for over 100 years!"  Winemaker Notes, Le Grappin

Domaine du Bagnol Cassis Blanc 2019, 0.75L
Marsanne / Clairette Blanche / Trebbiano from Cassis, Provence

"Marsanne(51%) is the dominant grape variety complemented by Clairette Blanc (31%) and some Ugni Blanc (18%). The vineyards to produce the white wine at Bagnol cover a bit less than 9 hectares and are planted on a gentle slope of clay and limestone soil with a north – northwest exposure. After a manual harvest, the grapes are destemmed and pressed; the fermentation continues for three weeks in cement cuves at a temperature controlled 18 degrees Celsius; the wine is vinified completely dry. The malo-lactic fermentation is blocked to preserve the freshness of the wine and the wine is normally bottled at some point between May and July of the following year. Total annual production is on the order of 40,000 bottles; somewhere between 6,000 and 9,000 bottles per year are dedicated to the US market." Importer Notes, Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Doyard Blanc de Blancs Cuvée Vendémiaire Brut NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne

"The new release of Champagne Doyard’s “Cuvée Vendémiare” non-vintage Blanc de Blancs Brut is from the base year of 2014, though this only comprised fifty percent of the blend. The remainder is thirty percent from 2013 and twenty percent from the vintage of 2012. Only fifteen percent of the vins clairs go through malo, with the forty percent of the wines raised in older Burgundy barrels prior to bottling up for secondary fermentation. It was aged sur latte for fifty-six months and finished with a dosage of four grams per liter. The wine delivers a superb nose of pear, golden delicious apple, chalky minerality, crème patissière, spring flowers and just a hint of buttery oak. On the palate the wine is brisk, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a rock solid core of fruit, superb mineral drive and cut, refined mousse and a long, perfectly balanced and extremely promising finish. This bottling is always built to age well (I have had superb examples with twenty years of cellaring) and the new release, though approachable now, really deserves some time in the cellar to start to deliver some of its secondary layers of complexity and soften up its acids." 92 Points John Gilman, View from the Cellar

Troplong Mondot 2019, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc from Saint-Émilion , Bordeaux

"The 2019 Troplong Mondot is a blend this year of 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, harvested from the 10th to the 25th of September. The pH is 3.55—pretty incredible when you consider the alcohol is nearly 15%! I hasten to add that from tasting, I would have guessed this was 14.3% to 14.5% alcohol. It is the kind of wine with so much energy it practically does pirouettes on your palate. Opaque purple-black colored, the nose is fantastically floral, bursting from the glass with notes of candied violets, red roses and lavender over a core of plum preserves, wild blueberries and black raspberries with touches of garrigue, tilled soil, wild fungi and crushed rocks plus a waft of powdered cinnamon. The medium-bodied palate is like a tightly coiled spring, featuring beautifully knit layers of black and red fruits, earth and floral notes within a firm, fine-grained frame and bags of freshness, finishing long and mineral laced. This is a far cry from the old-school style of Troplong Mondot from a few years back, and it is incredibly impressive. This wine is aging in French oak barriques, some larger vats, and a small proportion is in amphorae. The oak portion is 60% new." 96-98 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate

Rauzan-Ségla 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Margaux, Bordeaux

"The black fruits burrow downwards through the palate at first, keeping things pretty closed, everything holding its breath, before the fruit opens. There is the precision of Rauzan Ségla that is reminiscent of the 2016, less of the immediate voluptuous impact of 2018 but the density becomes extremely clear in the glass. A serious Rauzan, cassis and cedar, still with a rinse of iris flowers to give it the Margaux touch. 3.73pH. 50/50 1st and 2nd wine. A yield of 42l/ha."96 Points Jane Anson, Decanter

"The 2019 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande was picked 16 September to 8 October. It has a showstopping nose: intense black fruit laced with graphite and mint. (Whisper it...it reminds me of their First Growth next door neighbor.) The palate is underpinned by very refined tannins that cradle what may well be the purest fruit you will find in this vintage. Unbelievably precise all the way through to the finish, I admit staring at my glass trying to find fault with it. Unless winemaker Nicolas Glumineau gets distracted by the new Cure album and makes a catastrophic error during the rest of its élevage, which he is not prone to doing, you are not looking at a modern-day 1982 or 2016, but something even better and more profound. La Gaffelière 2019, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"The 2019 La Gaffelière is a distinctive Saint-Émilion, which should be inferred positively. There is something atypically very tertiary about the nose, beautifully defined and focused with plenty of fruit, yet very complex and cerebral. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity and wonderful harmony. The silky texture belies the structure underneath and the finish is extraordinarily long. Ancient vintages of La Gaffelière like the 1961 are legendary. This ranks alongside them - the best I have ever tasted. Magnificent." 95-97 Neal Martin, Vinous

Pichon Baron 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc from Pauillac, Bordeaux

"The 2019 Pichon-Longueville Baron is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Merlot, harvested from the 18th of September to the 11th of October. It is being aged in French oak barrels, 80% new, for 18 months. This grand vin represents 49% of the harvest. Very deep purple-black in color, the nose skyrockets from the glass with vibrant scents of freshly crushed blackberries, black raspberries and blackcurrant pastilles followed by perfumed sparks of fragrant earth, clove oil, lilacs, crushed rocks, molten chocolate and cinnamon toast. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with layer upon layer of black fruit, mineral and exotic spices, framed by beautifully ripe, finely-grained tannins and tons of freshness, finishing with a lingering soft-spoken whisper of floral and earth notions. This is an absolutely beguiling expression that is classic Pauillac and yet it is Pauillac like no other."

Figeac 2019, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"The 2019 Figeac is composed of 30% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Cabernet Franc, harvested from the 13th of September to the 7th of October. The alcohol this year is 14.1% and the pH is 3.7. Steal-your-heart scents of mulberries, black raspberries, Black Forest cake and cassis prance ever so gracefully out of the glass, followed by nuances of plum preserves, red roses, cinnamon toast and clove oil plus just a waft of lavender. Medium to full-bodied, the palate shimmers with electric energy, framed by a solid backbone of wonderfully ripe, grainy Cabernet-led tannins and bold freshness, finishing with fantastic persistence and with tons of emerging earth and floral layers. This is a simply stunning, seemingly effortless, beautifully harmonious expression of the vineyard and the vintage - bravo!" 98-100 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate

Walter Scott Chardonnay La Combe Verte 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Willamette Valley, Oregon

"Our approach to Chardonnay pays attention to texture and structure, translating site and vintage. The La Combe Verte is fermented with 100% ambient yeast and full malolactic conversion in large barrels with very little bâtonnage. The wine is lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling to brighten aromatics and give us a polished finish. The result is an illuminating style of chardonnay, showcasing density and precision. The palate spotlights evolving layers of textures which follow the aromatic notes of lemon blossoms, with the finish offering a subtle mineral and saline character." Producer Notes, Walter Scott

Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie 2017, 0.75L
Syrah from Côte Rôtie, Rhône

"A tasting of five different barrels, drawn from 24 blocks across 19 lieux-dits, mostly schist terroirs in Ampuis and St-Cyr. It's almost 100% whole bunch in 2017, with a minimal 15% of new oak used. Gerine is ripe and harmonious, with intense, sappy fruits and muscular tannins. Fongeant is sleek, dark and elegant. Le Plomb/Le Truchet takes tannin from the first site, acidity from the second and displays a soaring fragrance of burnt herbs. Tartaras/Bonnivières/top of Fongeant has incredible freshness and tight, fine tannins. Lastly, La Landonne, Côte Blonde, Moutonne and Côte Rozier has intense, tight, saline tannins and juniper and liquorice-tinged dark fruits. The overall impression is a powerful, ripe, structured and very fresh Côte-Rôtie, very well balanced with bright acidity, that will age impressively." 98 Points Decanter

"The 2019 Pavie is a blend of 50% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Franc and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested from the 30th of September to the 11th of October. The yields this year were 35 hectoliters per hectare, and the alcohol came in at 14.73%, while the pH was 3.55 (remarkably low!). Very deep garnet-purple in color, the nose opens with a beguiling array of intertwined earth and black fruit scents: baked plums, black cherry preserves, tilled soil, black truffles, mossy tree bark and mulberries with nuances of allspice, clove oil, espresso and cedar chest. Full-bodied, densely packed and with a rock-solid structure, the constrained flavor layers are just waiting to explode; it's framed by firm, exquisitely ripe, rounded tannins and this vineyard's signature freshness, finishing with epic length and depth. "This is 100% whole bunch, hence it becomes the ‘Dr’ label in the pinots of Timo Mayer. Pepper and clove scents over ripe cherry, pomegranate juice and a whiff of Campari. Light Negroni-like flavours in the best kind of way, but the wine is fine-boned, sheathed in a leisurely web of skinsy tannin with pepper and green herb savourinesss accompanying fine, fresh, gently sweet-sour cherry and cranberry flavours. Château Pradeaux Bandol Rouge 2015, 0.75L
Mourvèdre from Bandol, Provence

"The magic of Château Pradeaux lies in its unfettered expression of Mourvèdre, that thick-skinned, late-ripening variety which sings in its full glorious range in Bandol’s Mediterranean-hugging vineyards. Pradeaux’s 18 hectares are the nearest to the sea in the entire appellation, and they tend to harvest a full two weeks later than their neighbors. Appellation law requires at least 50% Mourvèdre in a Bandol, and while many domaines hew closer to the minimum, cushioning their wine with hearty proportions of Grenache and Cinsault, Pradeaux produces a full-strength wine of 95% Mourvèdre." Cos d'Estournel 2019, 1.5L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

"A very powerful and structured Cos. It’s full and layered, but not overpowering in terms of fruit. It’s more about the abundant, very fine tannins. It’s a classic wine with historical grip and power. Real Bordeaux. Sophisticated and provocative." 98-99 Points James Suckling

"Harvest for the grand vin began on the 23rd of September and finished on the 7th of October. Composed of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot (with no Petit Verdot or Cabernet Franc this year), yields for this wine in 2019 were 43 hectoliters per hectare, and it is aging in 55% new oak. It came in at an alcohol level of 14.02% and an IPT of 67. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Cos d'Estournel soars out of the glass with vibrant black raspberries, Black Forest cake and crushed blackcurrants scents plus nuances of red roses, wild sage, dark chocolate and cast-iron pan with a waft of woodsmoke. The medium to full-bodied palate is taut, muscular and built like a skyscraper, with firm, grainy tannins and seamless freshness supporting the concentrated black fruit flavors, finishing with incredible length and depth. Palmer 2019, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc from Margaux, Bordeaux

"Iris and violet aromatics swirl out of the glass. In the mouth, things are velvet in texture and packed with concentrated cassis puree and blackberry fruit, gentle spice, soft charcoal and sappy tannins, with the whole thing just slowly slowly expanding and building through the palate, tightening its grip as it reaches the close of play. The Palmer signature of energy and precision is here in spades, and altogether the wine is both measured and elegant, with textbook floral Margaux character, while being extremely juicy, creamy and enjoyable, with a mouthwatering salinity on the finish - up there with the very best vintages of this estate." 98 Points Jane Anson, Decanter

Stater-West Saumur Blanc 2018, 0.75L

The selection is made in the lower slope of the parcel (facing north-east), where the grapes don't have the same concentration and depth from the other half that go into the bottling Les Chapaudaises. The soil type is mostly clay-sand-loam based and about 1m in depth before being in the limestone. The picking dates vary from the picking for Les Chapaudaises as the ripeness is a little later on this part of the vineyard, therefore needing 4-5 days more of ripening than Les Chapaudaises." Importer Notes, Grand Cru Selections

Bernabeleva Navaherreros Blanco de Bernabeleva 2017, 0.75L
Albillo / Macabeo from Viños de Madrid, Madrid

."The 2017 Navaherreros Blanco de Bernabeleva is a similar blend to the 2016—60% Albillo Real and 40% Macabeo—and it shows the freshness that the Albillo Real usually has in warmer years, when the ripening is fast and the phenolic ripeness is perhaps lower while the acidity remains a little higher. This is a constant when tasting the 2017s next to the 2018s, when the warmer year (2017) produced fresher whites and the cooler year (2018) seems to have delivered riper whites with more honeyed character. There is balanced and low alcohol (12%) from grapes that were picked starting the 2nd of August. The wine is harmonious, and the varieties feel very integrated. Arnaud Lambert Saumur Blanc Clos David 2016, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Saumur, Loire

"The wine starts out aromatically expressing the magic that limestone imparts to its local vine community. Pure and striking fruits, like sweet lime, meyer lemon with lemon curd, exotic spice and flint dart out of the glass and into the nose. If you can manage to keep it in the glass for a couple of hours of slow observation and drinking, the wine will take you on a rollercoaster of highs that seem only to climber higher with every passing minute. Acidity? More than you can imagine but somehow it presents itself gently on the finish after a somewhat overwhelming initial attack from the first sip.

The wine hasn’t a drop of tropical or rich, ripe fruit notes because this cold site rarely has a chance to develop botrytis, even in ideal years. The topsoil is pure sand with limestone gravel that has been unearthed from the tuffeau limestone that sits on thirty centimeters below the soil. It’s pure sand and limestone soils make it the most unique soil structure on the hill. Anyone would be hard-pressed to find a white wine in the world that carries this fair of a price." Importer Notes, The Source Imports

Raúl Pérez Bierzo Ultreia Godello 2018, 0.75L
Godello from Bierzo, Castilla y León

"2017 was the year of frost, and production was very small. So, we jumped to the entry-level white 2018 Ultreia Godello, which was produced with purchased grapes from different plots and new vineyards (including one in the zone of Ponferrada and also vineyards in Cacabelos and Valtuille), from a mix of soils, slate and clay. This sets the tone of the whites from the vintage: it has perfect ripeness, freshness and harmony and is very clean, with precision and clarity. It's subtly varietal and was fermented in used barriques and used oak foudres of different sizes. They never rack or do bâtonnage, and they never use sulfur until bottling. It's fuller and more volume, which is compensated by more acidity. The élevage lasts until the next harvest, when they need the oak containers, trying to keep them empty for the shortest amount of time possible. The wine is approachable and a bit gentler, for a wider audience. They produced 26,000 bottles. It was bottled in late August 2019." 92+ Points Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate

La Vizcaina (Raúl Pérez) Bierzo El Rapolao 2017, 0.75L
Mencia from Bierzo, Castilla y León

"I was impressed by the 2017 La Vizcaína El Rapolao, but the warm vintage was very good for a warmer vineyard like El Rapolao. This is hands-down my favorite of the 2017s from La Vizcaína, the wine that shows more freshness. It's harmonious and perhaps was harvested a little earlier than the others. Like the other wines from the range, this 2017 has more color than the 2018, as well as more power and a little more concentration, and it's also denser than the 2018, with tannins that are grittier and a little drier. But if I didn't have the 2018 next to this, I would only be praising it, because the 2017 is truly impressive, all in place and simply one step up in power and all the rest to keep the balance. 10,000 bottles were filled in May 2019. This is a late-budding vineyard, and it didn't suffer the effect of the spring hail from the year." 95 Points Luis Gutiérrez, The WIne Advocate

"The 2017 La Vizcaína La Vitoriana has depth and power, inherent to the vineyard, a cool site that behaves well in a warm year like 2017, but in 2017 I still prefer El Rapolao. The fruit is a little darker and riper without excess (it's all relative when you compare, and sometimes comparisons are tedious...), as the cooler exposition takes the warmer weather better. It's textured and serious. 6,300 bottles were filled, as the north-facing exposures like this escaped the frost of the 2017 spring. The vineyards are clay and limestone, situated on a gentle slope with a north – northwest exposure. The blend is Grenache (55%), Mourvedre (31%) and Cinsault (14%). This Rosé is vinified by “pressurage direct, the must is chilled to 12 degrees Celsius, the wine ferments at 18 degrees Celsius until it is completely dry; then, the wine is bottled during the first three months of the following year after a light filtration." Matthiasson Cabernet Sauvignon Village No. 2 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"Sometimes you just want an honest glass of Cabernet. Refreshing, flavorful, not too heavy, and not too light. A Cab for drinking at the table, not looking at in the cellar. And a Napa Cab that doesn’t break the bank. A “Village” Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. A bright lively wine with lots of flavor that is great with food. We blended a “table Cab” from delicious lots of our wine that didn’t quite make it into our Matthiasson Cabernet blend (and some wines that Steve made for clients) but that tasted great together as a “village” wine."
