F. X. Pichler Grüner Veltliner Loibner Steinertal Smaragd 2015, 0.75L
Grüner Veltliner from Wachau, Niederösterreich

“Fermented in tank and then aged in cask, whence I last tasted it, this projects a relatively soft profile, with ripe Bartlett pear and honeydew melon lusciously dominating. But welcome counterpoint arrives in the form of varietally typical crunch of snap pea, site-typically peppery pungency and stony impingement, and a glowing piquancy of fruit seed on the impressively sustained finish. Among the current collection’s Grüner Veltliner bottlings, this one preserves noteworthy juiciness and balances richness with tension and invigoration.”  Vinous 92-93 Points

“The 2015 Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Loibner Steinertal is a medium to full-bodied wine with a very nice and mineral acidity and a refreshing bright fruit flavor. Tightly woven but very elegant and with grip. Very promising.” Wine Advocate 91-92 Points

Franz Hirtzberger Grüner Veltliner Spitzer Rotes Tor Federspiel 2015, 0.75L
Grüner Veltliner from Wachau, Niederösterreich

“Based on multiple pickings from late September through the third week of October, this reflects a diverse array of crunchy, nutty and peppery greens ranging from spinach through cress. An upwelling of roasted lentil and turnip informs the satiny palate, with apple and honeydew suggesting sweetness while supplying refreshing juiciness. The superbly sustained finish is strikingly transparent to stony, crystalline mineral impingements. An ore-like glow there marries beautifully to low-toned vegetable elements, while peppery nips of cress and crunch of leafy greens provide persistent invigoration. This classic of its genre joins a long line of Hirtzberger Rotes Tor Federspiel bottlings that deliver in their own distinctive way every bit as much intrigue and pleasure as a top-notch Smaragd, and that age terrifically, too. But this particular bottling belongs near the head of the aforementioned line, and for reasons other than simply being the most recent!”  Vinous 93 Points

“Subtle pear fruit and just a touch smoky. The acidity is relatively gentle but sufficient for the depth and richness here – surprisingly rich for a Federspiel. Some spice on the palate and a lovely creamy texture.” Jancis Robinson 16.5 Points

“From several vineyards in Spitz, the 2015 Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Rotes Tor is Hirtzberger's commercially most important wine. The 2015 is an intense and refreshing wine with a good body, ripe fruit aromas, a piquant acidity and a pretty complex and salty, well-structured finish. A pretty powerful Federspiel with a good finish.” Wine Advocate

Franz Hirtzberger Grüner Veltliner Wösendorfer Kirchweg Smaragd 2015, 0.75L
Grüner Veltliner from Wachau, Niederösterreich

“An appetizing top note of candied lemon peel hovers over the glass before spicy hints of pear peel become apparent. The palate is edged with very precise zesty grapefruit hints that frame and corset a most generously white-pepper-spiced host of pear and yellow plum fruit. It is the structure of that zesty acidity that make this luminous and appetizing. This is rich but concentrated; delicious now but built to last.” Wine Enthusiast 95 Points

“Picked near the end of October, this smells of ripe apricot and white peach that could come from a Riesling, but accompanied by snap pea and cress. These elements complement one another delightfully on a silken-textured palate that exhibits unexpected lift for a relatively late-picked Smaragd. The richly-sustained finish lends a hint of caramel to the luscious pit fruits, yet there is a striking sense of vibrancy as well as of transparency to stony, crystalline, and iodine-like mineral notes. Crunchy, nippy snap pea and cress rise to the task of invigoration, while a suggestion of shrimp-shell reduction serves to stimulate the salivary glands and encourage, indeed practically compel, the next sip. As Irmgard Hirtzberger points out, since the family’s first wine from these vines was a 2010 (and the 2014 fruit was blended into that vintage’s Rotes Tor Federspiel), assessments of ageworthiness must be considered tentative. "But given our track record with Grüner Veltliner Smaragd in general," she added, ‘I'd say it’s a good bet that this will handle 15 years in bottle with no problem.’”  Vinous 94 Points

A. Mann Pinot Gris Grand Cru Hengst 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Gris from Alsace, Alsace

“The 2015 Pinot Gris Grand Cru Hengst is a gorgeously rich, intense and powerful Pinot with an oily texture, a vital acidity, great tension and length. Impressive.” Wine Advocate 93 Points

“Bright yellow with golden tinges. Perfumed aromas of guava, peach, minerals and sweet spices. Multilayered and suave, displaying a lovely sense of balance to the rich, long orchard and tropical fruit flavors. Finishes very clean and fresh, as well as a little sweet (29 g/L residual sugar and 5.1 g/L total acidity) and tannic; the hint of tannic bite is fairly typical of the Hengst due to its marly soils. Barthelmy likes the 2015 Pinot Gris Furstentum more in 2015, but for me it’s the other way around.” Vinous 91+ Points

Albert Boxler Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg 2015, 0.75L
Riesling from Niedermorschwihr, Alsace

“Boxler's 2015 Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg opens with the discreet charm and aristocratic distinction of a great wine. Very pure, clear, fine and elegant on the nose, with fine stony and herbal flavors but also ripe stone fruit and floral aromas, the 2015 tells the story of its origin in the glass in an excitingly subtle yet deep way. The palate is great! It is intense and juicy, nicely concentrated and ripe, with a touch of sweetness but gorgeous finesse, vitality and piquancy. The finish is pure and salty and develops a fascinating juiciness that explodes in the finish. This is not a wine for mouthfeel drinkers, but it is surely one of the finest, most delicate and balanced Rieslings you can find from this vintage. The combination of concentration, complexity, structure, minerality and sweetness (due to the low acidity, higher alcohol and extract) could hardly be better.” Wine Advocate 95 Points

Albert Boxler Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg Eckberg 2015, 0.75L
Riesling from Niedermorschwihr, Alsace

“The 2015 Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg Eckberg has a clear, fresh, mineral and highly delicate nose with concentrated white stone fruit but also flinty/stony aromas. Lemon flavors are here as well, but they are concentrated as in a chutney or a cake. Rich, lush, intense and beautifully concentrated (seamless) on the palate, with a lingering minerality, this is another gorgeous Riesling from Jean Boxler. Its finish is lean and finessed but also ripe, concentrated, rich, elegant and endlessly salty. There seems to be some sweetness, but the fine tannins, the body, concentration and finesse balance it perfectly. This Eckberg is fine and rich at the same time. A fascinating Riesling!” Wine Advocate 96 Points

Albert Mann Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Steingrubler 2015, 0.75L
Gewurztraminer from Alsace, Alsace

“Very ripe but precise and intense, with classic Gewurz flavors on the nose opens the 2015 Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Steingrubler, a powerful yet vital, precise and elegant wine full of tension and grip. Very stimulating its its purity and tension. The wine finished at 13.% alcohol and 37 grams of residual sugar, but you almost don't taste it!” Wine Advocate 93 Points

“Bright straw. Nuanced bergamot and candied orange peel on the nose, plus hints of cinnamon and white flowers. Bright, dense and pure, offering clean citrus and spicy honey flavors that are impeccably balanced (37 g/L residual sugar and 4.7 g/L total acidity). The finish is long and very precise. The Steingrubler always produces very delicate Gewürzes that lack the depth of the Furstentum, but are also at once refined and dainty - ideal for those who don’t like this variety’s powerful, often opulent personality. Very lovely wine.” Vinous 90+ Points

Ostertag Riesling Fronholz 2016, 0.75L
Riesling from Alsace, Alsace

". . .the palate reveals still tightly coiled layers of lemon freshness. Zesty purity suffuses the ultraclean palate and hints at an inner well of boundless lemon zest. This wine needs to develop but promises thrilling pleasure with its concentrated, whistle-clean and dry palate." 95 Points Wine Enthusiast

"Striking licorice and dried lemon peel on the nose. A bold and crisp wine with a lot of mineral character at the long and very dry finish. This will be quite challenging to pair with food, but it really is a special wine and not a jot too powerful. Drink or hold. Made from biodynamically grown grapes and Demeter certified."93 Points James Suckling

D. Coquelet Chiroubles 2015, 0.75L
Gamay from Chiroubles, Beaujolais

"The 2015 Chiroubles from Damien Coquelet is a fine, fine follow-up to his beautiful 2014 version. The lovely and sappy nose shows just a whisper of baked fruit elements in its mélange of black cherries, pomegranate, gamebird, violets, lovely soil tones and a topnote of woodsmoke. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and really nicely structured, with a sappy core harnessed behind a bit of tannin, bright acids and outstanding focus and grip on the long and still quite youthful finish. This is an absolutely superb young bottle of Chiroubles that seems to want to be a Morgon this year, as it shows uncanny structure for the long haul and is destined to be an absolutely gorgeous wine with a bit of bottle age. The hint of baked fruit tones meld beautifully into the vibrancy of the wine and really give this high class Chiroubles a bit of 1982 Bordeaux personality. It is approachable today, but I would opt for giving it at least a couple of years in the cellar to more fully blossom, as this is going to be a very uncharacteristically long-lived and epic bottle of Chiroubles." 93+ John Gilman

“Vivid ruby. Pungent red and blue fruit and floral scents are lifted by a zesty mineral note and a hint of white pepper. Palate-staining black raspberry and boysenberry flavors show excellent clarity and a spine of juicy acidity. Finishes sappy, sweet and very long, with subtle earth and floral pastille notes lingering.” Vinous 92 Points

Domaine des Marrans Chiroubles 2015, 0.75L
Gamay from Chiroubles, Beaujolais

“The 2015 Chiroubles spent 18 months in foudres with minimum SO2. It does not quite deliver the cohesion of the Fleurie on the nose: quite airy, perhaps a little ephemeral given the vintage. The palate is crisp on the entry with tart red cherries and raspberry fruit and a tang of orange rind toward the slightly abrupt finish.” Wine Advocate

“This is a fruity wine, full of red-cherry flavors. They are framed by the firmer texture and tannins that give the wine its character. The wine is delicious and crisp with a lively aftertaste.” Wine Enthusiast

P.M. Chermette Domaine du Vissoux Les Garants 2016, 0.75L
Gamay from Fleurie, Beaujolais

"In contrast to the Poncié bottling, the les Garants lieu à dit is located down in the section of Fleurie that borders on Moulin-à-Vent, and like the Coudert’s Clos de la Roilette, was actually once part of Moulin-à-Vent, rather than Fleurie. Monsieur Chermette gives this wine a bit of new oak, which works beautifully with the more structured personality of this cru, as it offers up a fine nose of black cherries, pomegranate, dark soil tones, gamebird, espresso and a touch of oak spice. On the palate the wine is deep, pure, full and potentially sappy at the core, with fine-grained tannins, excellent focus and grip and a very long, poised and nascently complex finish." 94 John Gilman

“Vivid ruby. Aromas of fresh dark berries, candied violet and smoky minerals pick up a hint of allspice with air. “The wine from this estate perched high above Château Angélus is tight and mineral. While the dark dense tannins are to the fore, it also has great fruits. The acidity and the crisp texture give the wine both its intensity and its potential.” Wine Enthusiast 93 Points

“Ripe and fleshy, with a direct beam of raspberry and black currant confiture framed by a solid graphite edge. Lots of tobacco and licorice snap details hang in the background. Should age well.” Wine Spectator 92 Points

Belregard-Figeac 2015, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"The Pueyo Family has owned Belregard-Figeac since 1853. The estate has remained in the family and this continuous ownership is accompanied by the priceless and intimate knowledge of the best parcels of each vineyard gained through seasons of observation. This is the kind of understanding that no amount of time at university can replace. It shows through in the wine, a true example of the character of their particular corner of Saint-Émilion. Jacques and Jean-Paul Pueyo, brothers, are the current generation in charge of all affairs at Belregard-Figeac. They have recently been joined by Jacques’ son, Christophe. For our part, we have worked with the Pueyo family since the 1996 vintage having been introduced to this delightful and dedicated family from Libourne by Danielle Meunier, proprietor of our other Saint-Émilion producer, Château Haut-Segottes. The vineyards are situated on the slopes near the picturesque village of Saint-Émilion but in the section that borders Libourne and Pomerol. Saint-Émilion is a large appellation, with noticeable variation in soil types, over 17 different combinations of soil and subsoils are classified here, resulting in wines that can be very different from one another. At Belregard-Figeac, the soil is a deep sand positioned on moderate slopes. Compared to the Médoc, the soils are richer. Vines are more vigorous and require wider spacing, with an average 5000 to 6000 vines per hectare as compared to 9000 to 10000 vines per hectare that is common in the Médoc. Merlot predominates at Belregard-Figeac, comprising 68% of the vineyards. Cabernet Franc (25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (7%) make up the rest. The vines are an average 35 years old (as of 2011). The majority of the holdings are situated on the plain of Figeac, certainly one of the most renowned of the various terroirs of Saint-Émilion, located on the border of Libourne and Pomerol. The Pueyo brothers use traditional vineyard management methods with limited use of chemicals. A team of workers goes through the vineyard in the summer to pull leaves for better aeration and exposure of the grapes. This time consuming task ensures better ripening and helps in disease prevention. The harvest is, of course, done manually." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Canon 2009, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"John Kolasa mentioned that in 2009 he increased the percentage of Cabernet Franc up to 25% and that his intention is to dial it up to 35% in several years. The 2009 was matured in 60% new oak. This is more reticent on the nose, very classic in style but beautifully defined with just the right amount of reserve and austerity. The palate is fresh and very elegant, with disarmingly svelte, silky tannins. Good depth, not powerful but succulent and mineral-rich on the structured finish. Excellent – but it will need several years in bottle and is perhaps more 2010 in style than its peers." 96 Points Neal Martin

"The 2014 Canon has an intense bouquet with blackberry, raspberry, briary and light tobacco scents, gradually gaining more precision with aeration yet remaining classic in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine bead of acidity, harmonious and poised with a structured yet precise finish that is pure class. Perhaps you might argue that it lacks some charm at this early stage but at the same time, I am fascinated to see how it will age. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting." 95 Points Vinous

Carlmagnus 2014, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from Fronsac, Bordeaux

ON SALE! Original Price: $15.99

“The Château Carlmagnus 2014 definitely has one of the best set of aromatics that I encountered from Fronsac. Tasted alongside La Dauphine there is more freshness and delineation without compensating on fruit intensity. The palate is clean and fresh with great acidity, energetic and citrus fresh with a firm grip on the finish. What a superb wine for the vintage. Chapeau!” Wine Advocate 90-92 Points

“Vivid and fresh red with plum and currant character. Some spices, too. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a long finish. Pretty tangy acidity undernearth.” James Suckling 90 Points

Clos Saint-Andre 2015, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Cabernet Sauvignon from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"The 2015 Clos Saint-André (which some readers might recognize from the chapter in my Pomerol book) is a minuscule Pomerol grower close to Montviel. It has a generous bouquet of crushed strawberry and raspberry preserve aromas . . . clean and pure, and not overwhelmed by the 100% new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, a fine thread of acidity, tightly knit red and black fruit with a touch of spice . . ."  Neal Martin, Wine Advocate

“The 2015 Clos du Roy has an earthy, briary-scented bouquet with great definition and personality. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, good body and is very well balanced, the finish offering blackberry and bilberry notes with a touch of sea salt. Desmirail 2015, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from Margaux, Bordeaux

"The 2015 Desmirail has a nicely detailed bouquet with blackberry, briary and iris aromas, gaining intensity in the glass, a Margaux with commendable presence. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. This is saline in the mouth, quite brine-like towards the finish but I appreciate the length and persistence here. This fulfils the promise that it showed out of barrel and constitutes one of the longer-term Margaux wines. Tasted at the Oenoconseil tasting room in Bordeaux." Vinous 91 Points

“Barrel Sample. Named after the turrets that surmount the château of Pichon Longueville, this wine has its own dedicated portion of the vineyard. It is open, generous and full bodied. Ripe berry fruits dominate while still leaving room for the fresh acidity typical of the 2014 vintage.” Wine Enthusiast 92-94 Points

Léoville-Las Cases 2005, 0.75L
from St. Julien, Bordeaux

"This is breathtaking. Black in color, with incredible aromas of crushed blackberry, mineral, licorice and lead pencil. Full-bodied, with a mind-blowing texture of seamless tannins that coat every millimeter of the palate. Goes on and on, with licorice, currant and flowers. Time will tell if it's better than the 2000." Wine Spectator 100 Points

“A stunningly complex and complete nose of flowers, dark fruits, and minerals. Very perfumed and subtle at the same time. The palate is full, yet tight and powerful with perfect tannins and a long, long finish. The quality of the tannins is phenomenal, please leave this alone for ten years.” James Suckling 99 Points

“A wine for the ages, the 2005 Léoville Las Cases is slow to come out of the gate, but its beauty and pedigree are evident. The 2005 Las Cases is one of the only wines in this tasting that still needs time in bottle, something that won't come as a surprise to fans of this St. Julien estate. The 2005 offers plenty of the typical Las Cases power, but it is also remarkably nuanced and translucent for a wine of its sheer size. When all is said and done, it is in my top three or four wines of the night.” Vinous 98 Points

“This is a prodigious effort. A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Merlot and Cabernet Franc (only 37% of the crop qualified for Las Cases), this dense ruby/purple wine has a stunningly pure bouquet of dark fruit, wet rocks, graphite, and subtle background toast/vanillin. Full-bodied, masculine, and very deep and concentrated, this titanic effort is at least 8-10 years away from its plateau of maturity. The Delon family have produced another legend.” Robert Parker 97+ Points

Marojallia 2012, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from Margaux, Bordeaux

ON SALE! Original Price: $53.99

“This is a spicy, fruity wine that has excellent acidity and a rounded, fruity character. It has some extraction, giving a bitter edge, while the final effect is a rich, juicy Merlot.” Wine Enthusiast 92-94 Points

“Another brilliant example from Murielle Andraud and her partner Jean-Luc Thunevin, the intense 2012 Marojallia (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) displays an opaque purple color and a beautiful nose of charcoal, graphite, blueberry and blackberry fruit. Some toasty oak is present, but the sweetness of the tannins, the multi-dimensional mouthfeel, and terrific length and intensity make this one of the great stars of 2012.” Robert Parker 93+ Points

“The 2012 Marojallia is powerful and explosive in the glass. A rush of dark red fruit hits the palate first, followed by white pepper, herbs, licorice and mint nuances that add shades of dimension. Marojallia is one of the most powerful, dark wines of Margaux. It is also one of the most distinctive. Readers should plan on cellaring the 2012 for at least a few years. The intensity and resonance here simply add to the wine's considerable appeal. The style is unabashedly ripe and flamboyant, but it all works.” Vinous 93 Points

Pape Clément 2012, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux

“The iconic 2012 Pape Clement is a candidate for near-perfection as well as one of the wines of the vintage. From proprietor Bernard Magrez, this is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. This extraordinary vineyard (a few miles to the west of Haut Brion and La Mission Haut Brion) has hit all the highlights of this vintage. Interestingly, the quality of the Pomerols and Graves wines in 2012 is closer to what one would consider a great vintage than the general image of 2012. This is truly great wine and not far off their magnificent 2005 and 2010. Full-bodied, with rich cassis, subtle burning embers and spice followed by velvety, well-integrated tannins, the wine is lush, expansive, savory and profound. This is a remarkable wine that could be drunk at a reasonably young age, but should cellar brilliantly for a quarter-century. Yields were modest at 37 hectoliters per hectare from this 132-acre estate. The alcohol level came in at 13.5%.” Robert Parker 97 Points

“The 2012 Pape Clement is one of racier, more voluptuous wines of the year. Deep, supple and flamboyant, the 2012 is laced with expressive dark stone fruit, game, cured meats and dried flowers. This is one of the more extroverted wines of the year. It should drink well with minimal cellaring and drink well to age 20-25. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot. This is another strong 2012 from proprietor Bernard Magrez and Michel Rolland.” Vinous 94 Points

“Densely packed, with lots of dark steeped currant, fig and blackberry fruit, slowly melding with muscular licorice snap, bramble, singed bay and ganache notes. The long, dark, ganache-coated finish isn't shy, but an enticing rusticity keeps this honest. A large-scaled wine that has really powered up since the barrel tasting.” Wine Spectator 94 Points

“This is rich and decadent with lots of wet earth, tobacco, berries and hints of cedar. Full body, round and velvety tannins and a long, long finish.” James Suckling 93 Points

“Concentrated and rich, this has fine tannins that are integrated into the big plum fruits. It's a black-fruited wine that has both the fruit and the structure to allow it to age well.” Wine Enthusiast 93 Points

Petit-Village 2014, 0.75L
Merlot from Pomerol, Bordeaux

“The 2014 Petit-Village is bold, racy and voluptuous, all of which add to its considerable near- and medium-term appeal. Lavender, herbs, menthol and leather run through a core of sumptuous dark fruit. Broad, ample and inviting, the 2014 has so much to recommend it. This is a very pretty wine by any measure. The blend is 72 % Merlot, 16 % Cabernet Franc and 12 % Cabernet Sauvignon.”  92+ Points Vinous

“The Cabernet Franc in the blend makes this wine a success, offering an intense character that brings out blackberry fruit notes and delicate acidity. This wine is solid without being too firm.” 90-92 Points Wine Enthusiast

“Solidly built, with a warm ganache frame around a core of steeped plum and blackberry fruit. The toasty edge wins out on the finish for now, but the fruit is there. This should meld a bit more in the cellar.”  91 Points Wine Spectator

Petrus 1989, 0.75L
Merlot from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"This wine is more tightly knit, more tannic, but every bit the blockbuster concentrated effort that its younger sibling, the 1990, is. It seems to need more coaxing from the glass, but the color is virtually identical, a dense ruby/purple with no lightening at the edge. In the mouth the wine cuts a broad swath, with spectacular intensity, richness, massive concentration, and high levels of tannin, yet the wine is fabulously well-delineated and like its sibling, the 1990, has a finish that goes on for nearly a minute. It does not seem to be quite as evolved as the 1990, and my instincts suggest there is a bit more tannin, but both are as prodigious as Petrus can be." 100 Points Robert Parker

Phélan Ségur 2015, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

"This has an air of authority with pristine red fruits, cassis and leafy aromas that lead to a palate with a powerful core of fine, long and fresh tannins. Plenty of ageing potential here." James Suckling 94 Points

"This spicy wine shows how far the estate has moved from its over-use of new wood. In this bottling, the wood is subtle and doesn't mask the rich fruit and the juicy acidity. It still has the structure of a Saint-Estèphe while keeping everything in good balance. " Wine Enthusiast 93 Points

"The 2015 Phélan Ségur has turned out beautifully. Muscular tannins wrap around a core of red cherry, plum, graphite, crushed flowers and mint. There is plenty of substance in the glass. In fact, this is one of the most polished recent young Phélans I can remember tasting. Floral notes add an appealing upper register, while silky, ripe tannins give the 2015 a good bit of early appeal. Perhaps most importantly, the 2015 is not penalized by the rustic tannins that have been an issue here in the past." Vinous 92 Points

"Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Phélan Ségur has a nose of red and black currants with earthy notes of fungi, dried herbs, damp soil and tapenade. The palate is medium-bodied with a good fruit core, firm and chewy tannins and nice freshness." Wine Advocate 90+ Points

Potensac 2014, 1.5L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Médoc, Bordeaux

ON SALE! Original Price: $47.99

“It’s been a while since I had a Potensac like this. Aromatic, very structured and polished with currant character and wonderful length. Polished tannins. Exceptionally small production for this year.” James Suckling 91-92 Points

“With low yields after a hail storm, the wine is concentrated and dense. It has a touch of wood aging as well as dark black fruits. The tannins are firm in a wine that will age well over the medium term.” Wine Enthusiast 90 Points

“The 2014 Potensac offers striking intensity to match its bold, inviting personality. Blue and black stone fruit, grilled herbs, licorice and dark spices make a strong first impression. The Delon family makes a number of top-notch wines, and Potensac is arguably the hidden jewel in the range. Drink this exuberant Médoc over the next handful of years. The blend is 40% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.” Vinous 90 Points

Potensac 2015, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Médoc, Bordeaux

"A clarity and transparency to this pretty red with currant, lemon-peel and lemon-grass character. Full body, very fine tannins and a pretty texture. Precise wine." James Suckling 92 Points

"The 2015 Potensac is just as beautiful from bottle as it was from barrel. Dark, succulent and super-expressive, the 2015 is a terrific choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. It does not have the aromatic expansiveness or body of the very best years, but in exchange, it will drink well pretty much upon release." Vinous 90 Points

"Pepper, savory and bay leaf notes lead the way, with a core of medium-weight cassis and cherry flavors. A tobacco hint and chalky minerality extend the finish, which has a pleasant austerity. A touch reticent in style, but will age well." Wine Spectator 90 Points

"While this wine has plenty of ripe tannins, the delicious blackberry fruit speaks loudest. Ripe, full and with a fine line of acidity, it is gently structured and likely to age well." Wine Enthusiast 90 Points

Reserve de la Comtesse 2009, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc from Pauillac, Bordeaux

"With its characteristic feminine style, this wine exudes wonderful aromatics with elegant fruit. Vibrant dark berries, violet, hints, cedar. The flavours are very fresh and vibrant with an openness that will enable early drinkability. The Reserve is less Cabernet Sauvignon, more Merlot and some Cabernet Franc." - 92 points Jeannie Cho Lee MW

“Made from a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, the second wine, the 2009 Reserve de la Comtesse, exhibits notes of forest floor, white chocolate, licorice, black currants and vanillin-infused black cherries. It possesses a sweet, round, generous style given its high glycerin. Both the Reserve de la Comtesse and Pichon Lalande have about 13% alcohol, slightly lower than most Pauillacs achieved in 2009.” Robert Parker 91 Points

“Bright and sappy, with kirsch and damson plum notes streaking along, followed by tangy iron and floral notes alongside. There's good zip and cut along the finish, with a lingering mineral edge.” Wine Spectator 91 Points

“Bright, medium ruby-red. Aromas of black raspberry, smoked meat, licorice and herbs. Ripe and serious for a second wine, offering nicely concentrated, lively flavors of currant, dark raspberry, spices, herbs and licorice. Finishes with plenty of dusty tannins and very good grip and verve.” Vinous 89 Points

Reserve de la Comtesse 2015, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc from Pauillac, Bordeaux

“This is an impressive second wine. It shows a lot of vibrant red berries, blackberries and darker plum fruits. The palate is impressive for the vibrant and lively acidity cast amid sturdy but supple tannins. Second wine from Pichon-Lalande.” James Suckling 93 Points

“The 2015 Réserve de la Comtesse is a superb second wine. Time in barrel and egg white fining have softened some of the tannins the 2015 showed as a barrel sample, but the fruit intensity, pedigree and class of the estate are all in the glass. Black cherry graphite, smoke and licorice are some of the many notes that infuse this potent, almost shockingly virile Comtesse. Quite simply, in 2015 Comtesse is equal to, or greater than, many Grand Vins. Don't miss it. The 2015 spent 12 months in oak, 25% new.” Vinous 92 Points

Smith Haut Lafitte 2009, 0.75L

"The finest wine ever made by proprietors Daniel and Florence Cathiard, the 2009 Smith-Haut-Lafitte exhibits an opaque blue/purple color in addition to a glorious nose of acacia flowers, licorice, charcoal, blueberries, black raspberries, lead pencil shavings and incense. This massive, extraordinarily rich, unctuously textured wine may be the most concentrated effort produced to date, although the 2000, 2005 and 2010 are nearly as prodigious. Tronquoy Lalande 2014, 0.75L
from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

“Another big, dark St.-Estèphe, but in spite of the rich body and some perceptible alcohol, there is also a cool, minty note. Slightly sweet finish in spite of all the tannins. Spice comes through at the end.” James Suckling 93 Points

“The 2014 Tronquoy-Lalande has a very composed bouquet with blackberry, tar and tobacco, very well defined and developing more red fruit than black with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin that render this quite masculine in style. Yes, for certain it is quite austere but I admire the balance of this wine and it offers good substance on the finish. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.” Vinous 90 Points

“A pure, racy version, with an iron-edged frame that keeps the red currant and damson plum fruit very focused. Mouthwatering tobacco and wet pebble accents are inlaid on the pleasantly austere finish. Well done.” Wine Spectator 90 Points

Vieux Château Certan 2011, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Cabernet Sauvignon from Pomerol, Bordeaux

""The Vieux Château Certan was cropped between 6th and 7th of September and from 14th until 20th September. That's what you'll read everywhere, although I was filming Alexandre when he was picking the final Cabernet around the 29th September! Cropped at 37hl/ha, it is a blend of 70% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon and (yay!) 29% Cabernet Franc. It delivers 13.6 degrees alcohol with a total acidity of 3.5gms/L and an IPT of 83. After the Cabernet Franc-less 2009 and 2010, this is more what I consider to be a classic VCC nose and as Alexandre, unlike those previous vintages that gives you everything up front, this is far more intellectual and enigmatic with hints of mineral laden fruit, limestone and small dark cherries. It is beautifully defined yet distant. The palate is succinctly balanced with crisp acidity, exceptional balance and superb backbone. There is an undercurrent of masculinity, a saline tincture, crushed stone and a touch of dried herbs and yet these are just fleeting hints. It has enormous length and it is one of the very few that could be on the same ethereal plateau as the 2009 and 2010 and perhaps one day ... even better. Tasted April 2012." 96-98 Points Neal Martin

d'Yquem 2007, 0.375L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

“Tasted single blind against its peers. Under blind conditions, the Yquem 2007 shines like a diamond. Nevertheless, it is initially rather taciturn on the nose, eventually opening up beautifully with touches of lemon curd, Mirabelle, and clear honey. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine definition and there seems to be a great deal of energy and vigor dispensed for your pleasure. There is such race and nervosity, and then that finish just purrs with harmony and focus. This Yquem feels just so alive and vivacious, yet there is an effortless quality here that is unmatched by its peers.” Wine Advocate 98 Points #199 Dec 2011

“Pale gold. Knockout nose of mirabelle, pineapple, spices and honey. Dense and thick but with racy acidity leavening the wine's liqueur-like flavors of peach, apricot and pineapple and imbuing it with superb energy. With aeration, this showed captivating notes of vanilla, toast and fresh and exotic herbs, plus a saline aspect on the very long finish. Still an infant, but already boasts terrific cut and purity of fruit. Director Pierre Lurton was thrilled to have a large quantity of wine at this high level of quality.” Vinous 95-98 Points

“Intense, with a wide range of maple, hazelnut-singed piecrust and apple crumble notes, all offset beautifully by a taut orange zest accent that imparts tension and length to balance the broad, rich core. Ends with a viscous feel and lingering energy.” Wine Spectator 96 Points

“Medium gold, already quite evolved. Heady stone fruits and honey on the nose, with generous fruit. Very sweet and succulent but there's fine acidity to balance the palate, which has beguiling sweetness. Very long, with a minty finish, but a tad evolved for a young Yquem.” Decanter 96 Points

d'Yquem 2010, 0.375L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

"The 2010 Château d’Yquem is an utterly stunning young wine and a very worthy follow-up to the magical wine produced at this estate in 2009. The bouquet is deep, complex and flat out brilliant, as it soars from the glass in a celestial mélange of pineapple, tangerines, a touch of passion fruit, honeycomb, beautifully complex and chalky soil tones, spring flowers and a very gentle touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, suave and utterly seamless, with great mid-palate depth, bright acids and surreal length and grip on the dancing and very intensely flavored finish. The 2010 d’Yquem is not quite as ethereally complex at this stage as the hauntingly beautiful 2009, but in terms of sheer quality, it seems likely to be every bit as profound." John Gilman 98+ Points

“Stunningly rich in character, a wine with great power to go with its acidity and sweetness. It is dense, powerful and concentrated powered by honey and by spice from the wood. The finish has dried apricots, very aromatic.” Wine Enthusiast 96-98 Points

“Deep yellow with a golden tinge. Intense aromas of very ripe tropical fruit, beeswax, honey and raisin are lifted by a strong mineral edge. Very fresh, rich and sweet on entry, then extremely light on its feet, with refined flavors of ripe citrus, mango, papaya, honey and saffron complicated by tangy botrytis. A very bright and focused Yquem, with lively acidity and a long, smooth, floral finish. Boasts impeccable balance and lovely precision. This terrific Yquem is very stylish but less massively opulent than vintages like 1989 and 1983.” Vinous 95-98 Points

“Rather restrained now, showing terrific purity and precision, with dried pineapple, persimmon and mango notes, offset by racy honeysuckle, white peach and chamomile hints. The extremely long finish sails on, switching to yet another spectrum, with green almond, green plum and coconut accents. A thread of quinine stitches this up at the very end.” Wine Spectator 96 Points

“This is a super balanced and racy Yquem with nuts. light pineapple and apple character. Full and dense but bright and fresh. Love the spicy botrytis with light apple tart and nuts on the finish…” James Suckling 94-95 Points

d'Yquem 2011, 0.75L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

“A lovely, creamy, tropical style, with mango, papaya and guava notes lending a caressing feel, while singed almond and warm piecrust accents blossom through the lush finish. Just when you think that's all there is, toasted coconut, fig, orange blossom and persimmon details kick in, lending length and dimension. The finish is ridiculously long.” Wine Spectator 99 Points

“Crazy minerality to this, with lots of dried mango, pineapple and papaya on the nose. Botrytis-spice and nutmeg undertones. Full body, very sweet, with superb depth of fruit and richness. It goes on for minutes. Turns dense and concentrated on the palate. Speechless.” James Suckling 98 Points

“Luminous golden yellow. Cool, pure aromas of white peach, honeyed mango, guava nectar, white flowers and saffron are complicated by elements of crushed stone and spicy lemony botrytis. Suave and intensely flavored, with mineral-spiced apple, mango, passion fruit and grapefruit flavors offering outstanding purity, precision, and depth. The brisk but harmonious acidity gives this great Sauternes a penetrating quality and provides a powerful spine to the very deep flavors, making it seem less opulent than it really is. This Yquem has the depth of the 2007 but boasts even greater purity and focus. Finishes bright and extremely long, with repeating suggestions of white flowers and lemony botrytis. Though it lacks the depth of the 2001 or the opulence of the 2009 at a similar stage of development, this is one of my favorite young Yquems ever: it will age spectacularly well.” Vinous 98 Points

d'Yquem 2013, 0.75L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

*This bottle has wine stained label

“Bright aromas of sliced mangoes, papaya, botrytis, and lemon follow through to a full body. Medium sweet with a phenolic palate that gives the wine structure and beauty. Electric acidity and freshness combined with impressive energy and length. A strict selection was made. 40% of the production was destined to the grand vin. About 80,000 bottles made. This is 70% semillion and 30% sauvignon blanc.” James Suckling 98 Points

“Lightly toasted marshmallow and macadamia nut aromas lead the way, followed by incredibly juicy mirabelle plum, green fig, and glazed pear and peach flavors. As big as this is, there are still plenty of honeysuckle, quinine and chamomile notes kicking the finish into yet another gear. This has purity and length to burn, with decades more to go.” Wine Spectator 98 Points

“Firstly, you notice the color, which is a touch deeper than recent vintages at this stage. The bouquet is quite honeyed and rich for Yquem at this early juncture, with subtle scents of peach skin, white flowers, and a puff of chalk and frangipane. The palate is viscous on the entry, all about the texture at first, coating the mouth with luscious botrytized fruit. There are touches of Seville orange marmalade, fresh apricot, a hint of spice and passion fruit. This is imbued with impressive depth and weight, perhaps an Yquem that is determined to make an impression after last year-s absence. It might not possess the finesse of a top flight Yquem, but it has immense power and persistency.” Wine Advocate 95-97 Points

d'Yquem 2014, 0.375L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

“Apricot tones with lively acidity give this rich wine a vein of freshness. Pear and white peach notes offer weight, while a lime backbone brings levity. There is a richness from the botrytis that is lifted by this wines delicious freshness.” Wine Enthusiast 97-99 Points

“Very subtle Yquem on the nose with dried pineapple, lemons, green apples and hints of botrytis. The palate grabs you by the arms and shows you superb concentration of spices, dried fruit, phenolics and incredible energy. Nothing is like this from Sauternes this vintage! Drink whenever you like. Spellbinding.” James Suckling 98 Points

“A stunner, sporting tropical mango and papaya notes that glide along beautifully, while heather honey, pineapple chutney and toasted coconut flavors fill in through the finish. Delivers an amazing mouthfeel that is both creamy and intense, with a pretty inner floral brightness that contrasts with the fruit.” Wine Spectator 98 Points

“The Château Yquem 2014 was picked over 9 weeks this year, with one-quarter of the grapes picked prior to 15 September. It delivers 134 grams per liter residual sugar and 7.3 grams per liter tartaric acid, with a pH 3.60. It has a captivating bouquet (I know...I know...what else were you expecting) But it entrances with its pure, wild honey notes mixed with almond and white chocolate scents, bestowed with beguiling delineation and focus. The palate is very poised with the acidity nigh on perfect. Occasionally an Yquem only reveals its components parts at this early juncture, necessitates conjecture. However the 2014 has a sense of harmony and completeness already, as if the élevage is merely there to usher it on to its finished state. There is undeniably great depth here, perhaps less conspicuous than other vintages because of that silver thread of acidity: notes of lemon sherbet, orange zest, shaved ginger and again, a few "flakes' of white chocolate. It is extremely long with tenderness rather than power on the finish. It's not quite up there in the rarefied heights of say, the 2001 or 2009, but it is what we call in the trade, "the business.” Wine Advocate 96-98 Points

“The 2014 d'Yquem is exceptionally beautiful for so many reasons, not the least of which is a striking juxtaposition of bright, floral/citrus notes of the early picks, before botrytis had set in, with richer, more tropical-inflected nuances that resulted from the later picks, where rot had developed. In other words, the 2014 is a wine of sublime contrasts, which is one of the qualities that often define the truly great wines. Lemon peel, coconut, jasmine, peach jam and brioche are some of the aromas and flavors that are present today, but above all else it is the wine's textural finesse that elevates the 2014 into the stratosphere. The precise, understated finish is striking. There isn't much else to say except that the 2014 Yquem is a real stunner.” Vinous 94-97 Points

“Bright gold with a green note. Intense freshness on the nose. Fabulous nose of richness and freshness. The residual sugar is not high but the balance is great. Lime and pears and great richness and almost like a fruit juice, it’s so refreshing yet dense and sweet.” Jancis Robinson 19 Points

d'Yquem. 2013, 0.375L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

It might not possess the finesse of a top flight Yquem, but it has immense power and persistency.” Wine Advocate 95-97 Points

de La Dauphine 2015, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from Fronsac, Bordeaux

“Very pretty aromas of perfume, currants and orange peel follow through to a full body, round and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Solid and structured.” James Suckling 92 Points

“Offers an enticing core of plum, black currant and raspberry paste flavors that are mixed with light charcoal, licorice and singed alder notes. This has energy to match its range through the finish. Merlot and Cabernet Franc.” Wine Spectator 91 Points

“The 2015 La Dauphine is potent, but also remains relatively light on its feet next to other Fronsacs in this vintage. Inky red/purplish fruit, floral notes and spice are among the signatures. Sweet floral notes and silky, polished tannins add to an impression of finesse. The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.” Vinous 90 Points

Arlaud Clos de la Roche 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Morey St. Denis, Burgundy

“Medium red. Aromas of strawberry, raspberry, flowers and spices. Juicy on entry, then suave and light on its feet in the middle, with dense red berry flavors accented by white pepper, mint and flowers. This is a live wire in the mouth but it's also seamless and refined. The very subtle, slowly mounting finish displays a touch of medicinal bitterness that stimulates the salivary glands. Arlaud noted that his grand cru vineyards yielded 30 to 32 hectoliters per hectare in 2015, which he described as good for a dry year and "better balanced as a result." The berries were small in 2015 but not nearly as tiny as those in 2003, when the same vineyards produced barely 20 hectoliters per hectare.” Vinous 93-95 Points

“The 2015 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has an expressive bouquet with vibrant raspberry and wild strawberry scents, a touch of gravel and granite developing with continued aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a candied opening, plenty of blood orange and even tangerine permeating the black fruit with a sweet, opulent finish that would benefit from just a tad more restraint. Good potential though and there seems to be a budding sense of joie de vivre.” Wine Advocate 92-94 Points

“Reduction flattens the nose. Otherwise there is excellent punch to the bigger, richer and more muscular flavors that possess a supple mid-palate thanks to the abundance of tannin-buffering dry extract that also coats the mouth on the focused, serious and slightly austere finish. This too is going to require a certain amount of patience.” Allen Meadows - Burghound 91-94 Points

Pinot Noir from Volnay, Burgundy

"Dark, bright red. Medicinal black cherry on the reticent nose. Concentrated and very primary, conveying a strong impression of energy to the flavors of black cherry, raspberry, licorice and menthol. Very pulpy wine, like chewing on grapes. A powerful rather than elegant style of Volnay (this fruit was picked at a high 13% potential alcohol), with the very long finish showing a firm tannic spine that Bitouzet says is typical of this wine. Very impressive for the year and built for a slow evolution in bottle." Vinous 92+ Points

Broad, rich, saline wine in a rather masculine style; less silky than the Caillerets, with its currant fruit edged by spices and pepper. Bitouzet uses a different barrel supplier for this wine and it shows in the firm, dusty tannins. But this has the energy and length to reward mid-term cellaring." Vinous 90 Points

The palate is much more indicative of where this wine is going to go: tensile from the start, steely with vibrant acidity. Domaine Méo-Camuzet Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Murgers 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Nuits St. Georges, Burgundy

"The 2015 Murgers chez Méo is one of the ripest premier crus in the cellar this year, coming at a full 13.9 percent octane, but it shows absolutely no signs of sur maturité on either the nose or the palate. The bouquet is pure, complex and flamboyant, as it offers up scents of sappy black cherries and dark berries, espresso, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, gamebird and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with fine-grained tannins, superb focus and grip and a very, very long, vibrant and utterly refined finish. I remember well drinking the 1989 and 1990 Méo-Camuzet wines in their youth and this is remarkably similar!" 94 Points John Gilman, View From the Cellar

Large-scaled, plush and deep but with lovely minerality and well-integrated acidity enabling the wine to maintain its balance. Still holding plenty in reserve, this big boy will need time in bottle to absorb its baby fat and alcohol. Makes the Vers Pouilly seem almost tart by comparison. Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Morey St. Denis, Burgundy

“This is such a perfumed wine with deceptively soft tannins and great fruit. The acidity is classic for the vintage, with raspberries and intense freshness at the end. It has a fine line of tannins and a life that will go far.” Wine Enthusiast 96 Points

“The 2014 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru is matured in 50% new oak and is 100% whole bunch fruit. It is blessed with a winsome bouquet. As usual, there is something very natural, unimposing and refined on the nose: blackberry and briary, a hint of graphite, a subtle leafiness maybe, and yet delineated and very pure. The palate is lively and energetic with crisp tannin, black rather than red fruit, linear and very classic in style with what you might call a "cool" marine-influenced finish that has fine salinity. What a great Clos des Lambrays that will put a smile on the face of those that adore refined Burgundy.” Wine Advocate 93-95 Points

“Spicy, exuding sandalwood, nutmeg, vanilla, floral and wild cherry flavors. Silky in texture and firmly structured. Accents of bay leaf and green olive seep into the mix as this fans out on the long aftertaste.” Wine Spectator 94 Points

“Medium red. Highly complex, aromatic nose combines raspberry, underbrush, flowers and spices. Juicy, energetic and mineral-driven, if a bit youthfully imploded (and still affected by the bottling). Not a fat wine but with its flavors of red berries, mocha, earth and brown spices it's an essence of Morey-Saint-Denis. The acids and tannins are not at all aggressive, which should give this grand cru relatively early accessibility.” Vinous 92 Points

“Complex, ripe, soil-driven scents of black raspberry, smoke and underbrush. Utterly seamless and sweet on the palate, conveying a noble texture to its flavors of dark berries, crushed rock and smoke. There's something Musigny-like here, and André Esmonin notes that the rocky, sandy soil is not unlike that of Musigny. More harmonious today than the Mazy-Chambertin, finishing with fine-grained tannins and outstanding subtle rising length. Left behind a captivating floral perfume in the empty glass. Hudelot-Noëllat Romanée-Saint-Vivant 2013, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Vosne Romanee, Burgundy

"The 2013 Romanée-St.-Vivant from Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat was another late malo finisher and the wine was still on the grumpy side at the time of my visit, with a fairly expressive nose currently coupled to an out of sorts palate impression, but this will clearly be outstanding. The bouquet offers up a fabulous constellation of raspberries, cherries, blood orange, beautiful spice tones, lavender, complex soil nuances, fresh nutmeg and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure and quite poised (despite its grumpy nature at the time of my visit), with fine mid-palate depth, nascently complexity, ripe tannins and superb length and grip on the tangy finish. This is going to be very, very special when it reaches its zenith." John Gilman 95-97

"The 2013 Romanée Saint Vivant Grand Cru has a gorgeous bouquet with vibrant red berry fruit, wilted rose petals, a touch of lavender coming through with time. There is real vigor and generosity here. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a firm structure. There is wonderful depth and body that forms the foundation of this wine, coming across a little more masculine than the 2014, exerting a firm grip with a slightly curmudgeonly finish that just needs time to mellow. This is excellent."Wine Advocate 95 points.

“Deep red with ruby highlights. Sexy aromas and flavors of primary dark berries, black raspberry and cocoa powder complicated by spicy oak tones. Thick yet lively on entry; a youthfully imploded but utterly seamless wine with outstanding energy and depth. For all its density, this tactile, saline wine shows a magically light touch. Really builds and lingers on the superb rising finish, which features noble tannins. Still a baby, this grand cru has a great future.Stephen Tanzer 94+ points.

Hudelot-Noëllat Romanée-Saint-Vivant 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Vosne Romanee, Burgundy

“The 2014 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru was tasted from a one-year-old barrel, though the final blend will include 50% new oak. It has a beautifully defined bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and a hint of fig, somehow effortless and wonderfully transparent. The palate is medium-bodied with sensual, quite ripe tannins. There is good volume here, impressive density and yet the overriding feeling is one of refinement. Then just on the finish there is something spicy, almost earthy, as it gently fans out. This is an exquisite Romanée-Saint-Vivant in the making.” Wine Advocate 94-96 Points

“Deep, dark red. Brooding, youthfully medicinal aromas of red cherry, dark berries, mocha and cocoa powder. In a more dry, linear, classic style, this premier cru finishes with a touch of youthful bitterness and needs some time in bottle. Riper stone fruit notes emerged with aeration.” Vinous 92 Points

“Moderate reduction presently dominates but there is good freshness and vivacity to the attractively intense and reasonably well-detailed flavors that possess solid levels of sappy dry extract while delivering fine persistence. Jean-Marc Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Les Baudines 2015, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet, Burgundy

“Highly aromatic nose combines fresh apricot, almond paste and flowers. Dense, fat and thick on entry, then firmly structured on the back end, with pineapple and lichee flavors enlivened by crushed stone and an almost metallic minerality. This very tactile wine will need at least a few years of aging to develop more give. Perhaps a bit hardened today by CO2 but long on potential.” Vinous 91-94 Points

Jean-Marc Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 2015, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet, Burgundy

“Pale, bright yellow. Explosive aromas of lemon, licorice, lichee and toasted baguette. The palate delivers a captivating combination of sucrosité, roundness and enveloping minerality, without quite the bracing stoniness of a cooler year. This very fine-grained wine boasts terrific palate presence. Finishes suave and very long, with subtle hints of lime, mint and rock.” Vinous 91-93 Points

“A beautifully if subtly layered nose flashes really lovely complexity with its pure array of spiced pear, lavender, spice and citrus wisps. The equally pure and refined middle weight flavors possess an almost pungent minerality while offering fine depth and sneaky good length.” Burghound 91-93 Points

Jean-Marc Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 2015, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet, Burgundy

“Bright pale yellow. Lovely perfumed lift to the delineated aromas of citrus fruits and white flowers. Penetrating, energetic wine with a strong impression of salinity and dusty extract. The crop level here was 45 hectoliters per hectare but this wine, from a 1949 planting, is wonderfully plush and silky without any weightiness, conveying a tactile impression of concentration. Finishes lemon-limey and long.” Vinous 91-93 Points

“Here the nose is similar to that of the Vergers but with more prominent floral nuances. There is both more size and weight but also a slightly sleeker mouth feel to the medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a powerful but refined finish. Good stuff.” Burghound 90-93 Points

There is once again good volume and richness to the round and caressing medium weight flavors that possess sneaky good length on the lingering finish that really fans out as it sits on the palate. “Bright pale yellow. Deeply pitched aromas of yellow peach and white pepper show a slightly candied quality but also very good lift. Plush, peppery and broad; quite dry and mineral-driven but not austere. Very horizontal in the mouth. Finishes classically dry and energetic, with terrific mineral persistence.” Vinous 91-93 Points

“A pungent nose combines notes of resin, various white orchard fruit and floral aromas that are trimmed in hints of wood and matchstick. The succulent and seductively textured medium weight flavors also possess plenty of dry extract, all wrapped in a citrus-tinged finish that offers a bit more depth and length. "From a tiny parcel of 17.5 ares which is situated in the prime part of this grand cru immediately above and next to the castle, Chezeaux produces a masterpiece that is a classic rendition of the best that this appellation can offer. The Chezeaux parcel is .34 hectares and is on an 18 degree east-facing slope at about 270 meters altitude. Robert Denogent Pouilly Fuisse Les Reisses Vieilles Vignes 2015, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Pouilly-Fuissé, Burgundy

“The 2015 Pouilly Fuisse les Reisses Vieilles Vignes comes from a 0.5 hectare of vines over 80 years old, the soil here with a little more clay. It has a clean and precise, slightly floral bouquet with subtle scents of white flower permeating the citrus fruit. I love the delineation here. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, superb tension and brightness that drives this Pouilly-Fuissé along from start to its precise finish, a touch of walnut on the aftertaste. Superb.” Wine Advocate 91-93 Points

“Bright light yellow. Expressive aromas of fresh peach and apricot, smoke and clove. Concentrated, chewy, peachy wine with excellent depth of texture and strong fruit character. But a bit unrefined for this bottling, with the finish displaying a somewhat phenolic skin character. Not a particularly mineral style (these very old vines are situated on clay-based soil) but youthful for the vintage and displaying good energy and balance nevertheless. “The 2015 Pouilly-Fuissé Reyssié comes from a half hectare of purchased, biodynamically grown grapes courtesy of vines up to 60 years old. It has a clean and precise bouquet that reminds me a little of a fine Chassagne-Montrachet. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, very good salinity, real tension here with a precise finish that is top drawer. This comes highly recommended.” Wine Advocate 91-93 Points

“Bright light yellow. A sexy touch of reduction to the aromas of ripe peach, marzipan and flinty minerality. A bomb of sweet yellow fruits on the palate, with complicating notes of nuts and marzipan. This very rich, ripe, plush wine shows terrific depth and its very long, surprisingly vibrant finish avoids the phenolic edge of the Les Reisses Vieilles Vignes. Rollin Savigny-Les-Beaune Aux Grands Liards 2015, 0.75L

"This wine is the newest addition to the Rollin domaine. The first vintage produced was in the 2007 vintage. The vineyard is situated midway between the villages of Pernand Vergelesses and Savigny-les-Beaune as one moves in a southwesterly direction from Pernand. The first wines produced by the Rollin family from this vineyard show the wine to be surprisingly firm and structured with a density rare to find in the Savigny appellation. Again, an instance where we bottle a few magnums each year based upon our belief that this wine has significant capacity to grow as it ages. Suave, firm and a bit youthfully tight, conveying very good definition and lift but less obvious sweetness than the Poruzot. Jobard noted that his 2015s finished with about 2.5 grams per liter residual sugar, which he said was higher than usual, and that the added sweetness gives the wines a creamy, unctuous character. Samuel Billaud Chablis Bougros 2015, 1.5L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"The 2015 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros has a splendid bouquet . . . . There is real delineation and poise here, with walnut and smoke emerging with time and struck flint emerging later. The palate is well defined with a fine bead of acidity (although the acidity level is lower than in Blanchot). Touches of blackcurrant leaf and quince dovetail into a very energetic finish that lingers for over a minute. Superb . . . . Through his contacts, there is also an expansion of his portfolio so that from the 2015 vintage he now has a full complement of six grand crus to his name. I asked Samuel about the 2016 vintage. “The average yield was between 15 and 30 hectoliters per hectare, around half the normal production . . . . This was a fantastic set of wines from Billaud  . . . . One can speculate whether he would have been able to achieve such quality had he still vinified the wines in the temporary facility he occupied beforehand—I think not. That should take nothing away from a skilled and experienced winemaker whose approach I think is spot on, in particular his assiduous use of used barrels that do not impede upon the terroir expression and a judicious use of reduction that lends complexity without dictating the taste. The 2015s and 2016s might have been born under trying circumstances, but with the new winery up and running, who knows what brilliant wines lie around the corner." 93 Points Wine Advocate

Samuel Billaud Chablis Les Fourneaux 2015, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"The 2015 Chablis 1er Cru Fourneaux was described as “gourmand” by Samuel Billaud. It comes from south to southeast-facing vines planted in 1971. It has a potent, slate-like scent that is clean and precise. I admire the precision here. The palate is well balanced with a citrus peel and fresh lime opening. It is quite harmonious in the mouth with a tang of stem ginger that perks up the finish. It just misses that persistence on the finish but otherwise it captures that fiery edge that makes it thoroughly enjoyable." 91 Points Wine Advocate

Samuel Billaud Chablis Mont de Milieu 2015, 0.75L

"The 2015 Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu was matured in 20% barrel and 80% stainless steel for 18 months. It has a clean and precise bouquet that needs more coaxing than the more forward Les Fourneaux, with touches of hazelnut and smoke emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with an attacking entry, malic in the mouth and with a very saline finish. This is a straight-down-the-line classic Chablis that is perhaps more 2014 in style than 2015. This is nothing short of excellent." 92 Points Wine Advocate

Y. Clerget Volnay Clos du Verseuil 2016, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Burgundy

"Bright red-ruby. Musky, complex soil tones along with black cherry and mocha on the nose. Quite suave and silky on entry, conveying a relaxed quality (production here was 42 hectoliters per hectare) but no shortage of concentration. In fact, this is a wonderfully classy, supple wine with sexy sweetness and rocky energy (the mother rock is close to the surface here). Soil and spice notes add flavor interest. Consistent from start to finish, this quintessential, refined Volnay spreads out on the back end to saturate the mouth, with its tannins fully buffered by fruit." Vinous 92-94 Points

"Much more discreet, if not invisible, wood sets off pure, cool and restrained aromas of red currant, raspberry and soft floral wisps. There is really lovely vibrancy to the detailed, sleek and refined medium weight flavors that brim with both minerality and dry extract that serves to buffer the distinctly firm tannic spine shaping the lingering and beautifully balanced finale. Y. Clerget Volnay Les Caillerets 2016, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Burgundy

"Bright, dark red; not quite as ruby as the Clos du Verseuil. A slightly high-toned aroma of kirsch is quite primary and even a bit inky. Juicy and intensely flavored, showing terrific definition but also a distinct thickness of texture, no doubt partly due to the high percentage of millerandage in these vines (production was barely 20 hectoliters per hectare). Currently showing more fruit than soil in the middle palate but the very long finish reveals subtle earth tones. A wonderfully seamless wine with suave tannins and an exhilarating light touch." 92-94 Points Vinous

"There is an overt spiciness to the even more restrained nose that blends notes of both red and dark cherry, plum, violet, lavender and a whiff of warm earth. "A more deeply pitched array is composed mostly of plum liqueur, dark cherry and notably more earth influence. There is also more volume and muscle though less refinement to the medium-bodied flavors that deliver excellent length on the focused and sneaky long finale." Burghound 90-93 Points

"Bright red-ruby. Very ripe aromas of black raspberry, flowers and earth show a bit less lift than those of the Carelle Sous La Chapelle. In a rather closed phase today; chunkier, drier and less elegant than the Carelle but still finer-grained than its 2015 sibling, offering flavors of dark berries, medicinal cherry stomp and licorice. Here the serious dusty tannins arrive early, saturating the front teeth and incisors. Finishes with a suggestion of menthol reserve." Vinous 90-91 Points

Bollinger R.D. 2004, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne

*Champagne of the Year* -"Time has graced this wine, proving the value of Bollinger’s policy of long aging on the lees followed by prompt release after disgorgement. This RD (Recently Disgorged) 2004 is a joyous wine, staunch, cold and powerful at first, transforming to fresh fruit shadowed by darker tones of barrel fermentation. As it opens in the glass, revealing racy energy, a range of floral pear and apple flavors emerge, resonant with a sense of limestone capturing the sun and reflecting it back in pale power. Enjoy this over the course of an evening as its presence shifts, providing varied perspectives on a great Champagne." 98 Points Wine & Spirits

"Fermented in oak barrels and aged under natural corks for almost 13 years, Bollinger's 2004 R. D. Extra Brut blends 66% Pinot Noir with 34% Chardonnay from 16 crus, 88% of which are classified as Grand Cru. The wine opens with a very clear, deep, rich and aromatic but also pure and mineral-fresh nose of crushed rocks, cherries, brioche, pain aux raisin, white nougat, chalk and ripe, yellow-fleshed fruits. Highly elegant and complex on the weightless yet persistent and salty palate, this is an intense, densely woven, firmly structured yet elegant, beautifully refined and refreshing "recent disgorgement" (February 2018) that reveals just a kiss of oxidative flavors that adds even more complexity. A great Champagne on its way to improve over many years in the bottle. Tasted June 2018." 97 Points Robert Parker

"50% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Meunier; roughly 9 g/l dosage . . . . Vivid orange-pink. High-toned aromas of fresh red berries, smoky minerals and orange peel, with a hint of buttered toast emerging with air. Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2009, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne

"Cristal is a cuvée made with grapes from the Grands Crus of Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Cotes des Blancs with the wine sitting on the lees for around six years before aging for eight months in the bottle after it was disgorged, with a dosage of 8g/l. In the glass the wine has a luminous golden color and an intense and fresh aroma from the fullness of the fruit with notes of citrus, ripe passion fruit, star anise and gooseberry, followed by a gourmandize sensation of hazelnut butter and toasted barley with a saline hint that will return in the flavor but which in the nose is a cloud of chalk. The mouthfeel has volume and tension, scenic presence and pure freshness, a giant step that animates the dynamic depth and wins you over with its energy that does not fade for a long time." 97 Points Danieli Cernilli

Philipponnat Clos de Goisses Brut 2006, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Chardonnay from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Champagne

“The 2006 Clos des Goisses is stellar, but it is also going to need quite a bit of time to come into its own. Powerful and ample in the best of the Goisses style, the 2006 hits the palate with serious intensity. Orchard fruits, lemon oil, white flowers and almonds are some of the many notes that open up in the glass, but, as is often the case with young Goisses, it is the wine's gravitas that is front and center. Even with all of its overtness, though, the 2006 retains striking, crystalline purity. I imagine the 2006 will reward Champagne lovers with many decades of truly exceptional drinking. The only thing the 2006 needs is time. The question is: How much?” Vinous 96 Points

“A statuesque Champagne, with a firm, well-sculpted frame swathed in a fine and creamy mousse, featuring notes of yellow plum, pastry, candied ginger and spring blossom. Delivers a long, chalky finish. Disgorged October 2015.” Wine Spectator 93 Points

“Firm straw colour. Really distinctive nose – rather minerally and intense. Soars out of the glass. The bead is just a little coarse and the wine positively screams for attention. Although the dosage is so low, the wine actually tastes quite rich, although it finishes very firmly and dry. A really personality-laden wine. A whole percentage point more potent than most. Kerpow!” Jancis Robinson 18 Points

Philipponnat Clos de Goisses Extra Brut 2009, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Chardonnay from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Champagne

"The 2009 Clos des Goisses, tasted from a trial disgorgement, is more than a worthy follow up to the stunning 2008. Bright, focused and powerful, with terrific freshness for the year, the 2009 is pure sensuality. To be sure, there is plenty of vintage 2009 radiance to the citrus, orchard fruit and pastry flavors, but the blocked-malo style helps the wine retain plenty of verve. The 2009 is 61% Pinot Noir and 39% Chardonnay, with no malolactic fermentation. Charles Philipponnat chose to scale down the number of lots fermented in oak to 37% in order to temper some of the natural richness of the year. He seems to have succeeded, as the 2009 retains terrific vibrancy."  94-96 Points Antonio Galloni

Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut 2002, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne

"Taittinger's 2002 Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne is off the charts. I have tasted the 2002 now many times, and it has never been less than thrilling. A vivid kaleidoscope of pure Chardonnay aromas and flavors opens up in the glass. The 2002 is at once incredibly rich yet also totally weightless and impeccable in its balance. All the classic Comtes notes are there, but with a level of detail and nuance I don't think I have ever seen before. The 2002 is breathtakingly beautiful today, but also appears to have the stuffing to age for decades. Personally, I would be looking to buy the 2002 in magnums if at all possible. Sadly, there is little wine to go around as 2002 was a very short crop. Readers who can track down the 2002 are in store for something truly great." 98 Points Vinous

Bernard Baudry Chinon La Croix Boissee 2015, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc from Chinon, Loire

"Bernard Baudry, now joined by his son Matthieu, is a master of terroir-driven winemaking in the Loire Valley. Cabernet Franc is the common denominator here, but the Baudry vineyards span a range of soil types—sand, gravel, clay, limestone, chalk—yielding fascinatingly diverse expressions of the same grape. La Croix Boissée is among the domaine’s deepest, most complex, and longest-aging reds: sourced from a south-facing slope of clay over white tuffeau limestone, this cuvée demonstrates the grandeur and finesse Cabernet Franc is capable of achieving in the right site. Aged for two years in oak and bottled unfiltered, this high-caliber red could humiliate many a Bordeaux sold for ten times the price. Its trademark is a rich aroma of ripe black fruits, a mouthwatering acidity, and dense, chalky tannins that provide a clean, pure, refreshing finish." Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant

Pascal Cotat Sancerre Les Monts Damnes 2016, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre, Loire

"Located in the western portion of the Sancerre appellation, Chavignol has a unique type of soil called, in French, “terres blanches.” The region is essentially a chalk plateau (the same vein as is found in Chablis) with clay and limestone soils. The top vineyards, ‘Monts Damnés,’ ‘Grande Côte,’ and ‘Les Culs de Beaujeu,’ are perched on steep hillsides with little topsoil. Cotat as a rule harvests by hand and very late, as pushing ripeness to the extreme is one element that gives these wines their weighty texture and complexity. While Cotat is not organically certified, his habits are more or less according to organic principles. He does not treat his vines with pesticides; uses only indigenous yeasts for fermentation; and follows the lunar cycle for racking. Wines are barrel-fermented in older demi-muids and aged in larger tonneaux. All wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Pascal Cotat’s few vines in this very steep vineyard [Monts Damnés] are at the top of the slope, where soils are thin and vines feed directly into the chalky mother rock. 30+-year-old vines. Aromas of melons, fresh herbs, white flowers; a delicate note of sea salt. Creamy yet light on the tongue; poached white fruits, lime zest, grapefruit. Very long." North Berkley Imports

Château Pradeaux Bandol X 10 Ans d'Elevage 2007, 0.75L
Mourvèdre from Bandol, Provence

"Anyone who appreciates the feral, visceral nature of Pradeaux will revel in the “X”—a wine that, despite spending ten years in foudre, still feels youthful and vigorous, just beginning its doubtlessly near-immortal life. The aforementioned wild nose is both eager and brooding, a maelstrom of violets, unlit cigar, dried figs, and plums, all framed by an intense iron element. Super-concentrated on the palate (as befitting the quality of the vintage), its chewy tannins are just beginning to show mercy, and one can sense a secondary savory streak beginning to shine through the thick wall of fruit and spice. Clients often ask if we have any older Pradeaux for sale, and we are excited to be able to say that, yes, indeed we do—a new, old Pradeaux, and a one-of-a-kind that will surely not last long in our warehouse."
