Gonet Medeville Blanc De Noirs Premier Cru NV, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Champagne, Champagne

". . . showing very well, offering up an appealing bouquet of crisp golden orchard fruit, honeycomb, warm biscuits and dried white flowers. On the palate, it's full-bodied, broad and vinous, with ripe but racy acids, good depth at the core and a delicate mousse. Concentrated and structured, another year on the cork will be rewarded by additional complexity, even though this is approachable now." 93 William Kelley, Wine Advocate

"Pale gold with a strong mousse. Intensely mineral nose displays Meyer lemon, lime, green apple, pungent herbs and chalky minerals. Clean and finely etched, with energetic citrus, anise and wet stone flavors underscored by honeysuckle and quinine. An uncompromising Champagne that delivers impressive finishing lift, cut and persistence. There's no way that I'd have guessed this wine was made entirely from red grapes." 92 Josh Raynolds, Vinous

Gilles Robin Crozes Hermitage Cuvée Albéric Bouvet 2019, 0.75L
Syrah from Crozes Hermitage, Rhône

"First planted in 1946 by Albéric Bouvet, grandfather of Gilles Robin, on the top terroirs of the estate (Rochas, Monico, and Terres Rouges). Low yielding vines of 50+ years. Grapes are hand-harvested. Three terroirs are vinified separately: half destemmed, partial whole cluster, use only native yeasts. Blended together after a year’s aging in barrels and demi-muids (600L), 20% new." Importer Notes

Dominique Cornin Pouilly-Fuisse Les Chevrieres 2020, 0.75L
from Pouilly Fuisse, Burgundy

"The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Chevrières 1er Cru is the only cuvée that received promotion in this vintage. Raised exclusively in demi-muids, it has a beautifully-defined bouquet with refined orange pith, quince, saffron and light honeysuckle scents. The palate is well-balanced with crisp acidity, very cohesive with good weight, bitter lemon and orange rind towards the persistent finish. Great potential. (Drink between 2024-2038)" 92+ Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

Domaine Laporte Sancerre Le Rochoy 2020, 0.75L

Guillot-Broux Macon-Cruzille Beaumont Rouge 2019, 0.75L
Gamay from Mâcon-Cruzille, Burgundy

"From Gamay vines planted in 1978 in the coolest of the domaine's red wine parcels, the 2019 Mâcon-Cruzille Beaumont exhibits notions of red berries, warm spices, smoke, raw cocoa and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, it's deep and sapid, with powdery tannins and a long, floral finish. It was vinified without any destemming. As I wrote of its 2018 counterpart, this is a serious, inherently structured wine, so readers shouldn't be misled by the modest appellation into drinking it too soon: four or five years' bottle age will be richly rewarded." 92+ Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Domaine Garnier Chablis Vaudesir 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"The 2019 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru has a very pretty bouquet of yellow flowers, honeysuckle and light white truffle scents, plus a touch of flint in the background. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. This is certainly one of the more elegant Grand Crus in 2019, displaying admirable poise and a touch of spice toward the lingering finish. Excellent. (Drink between 2023-2038)"  93 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

Chateau de Bois-Brincon Terre de Gres Anjou Blanc 2016, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Anjou, Loire

"The Terre de Grès of Château de Bois-Brinçon represents 1.5 hectares of chenin grown on chalky, tuffeau soils. With only 6,000 vines per hectare, yields are consistently small averaging 40 hectoliters per hectare. The grapes are picked by hand and rigorously sorted, whereby all botrytised grapes are eschewed. Whole bunches undergo a slow and gentle pressing (between 8 and 10 hours), after which fermentation occurs in neutral barrels. The wine remains in barrel for 5 months receiving batonnage when necessary. The aromatic finesse of chenin is highlighted in the Terre de Grès, where its minerality and freshness gain complexity and intensify over time." Importer Notes

Outward Wines Santa Ynez Valley Syrah 2021, 0.75L
Syrah from Santa Ynez Valley, California

"Co-fermented with 5% Viognier and vinified entirely with whole clusters, the 2021 Syrah is fresh and crunchy without losing its complexity. Medium ruby-purple in the glass, it opens slowly from touches of tar and tobacco to wafts of blueberries, blackcurrants, pipe tobacco and potpourri on the nose. Medium-bodied and bursting with layers of concentrated, crunchy fruit, it has alluring spicy accents as it traverses the palate. It offers a fine, chalky frame, tremendous, energetic acidity and a very long, perfumed finish. This elegant expression that nods to the Côte-Rôtie style is a pleasure to drink! Only 72 cases were made." 94 Points, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate

Knebel Winninger Uhlen Riesling Grosses Gewachs 2020, 0.75L
Riesling from Winningen, Mosel

"AP: 13 21. The 2020er Riesling Uhlen GG, as it is referred on the main part of the label, is a legally dry wine which comes from old vines in the grey-slated Laubach part of the vineyard and which was fermented and aged on its fine lees in stainless steel (75%) and used small oak barrel (25%) for 9 months. It offers a beautiful and subtle ripe nose made of grapefruit zest, minerals, melon, pear puree, earthy spices, and fresh minty elements. The wine proves beautifully pure and smoothly dry (rather than bone-dry) on the palate and leaves a great complex feel of fruits, herbs, and fine spices in the long finish. This great dry wine combines depth and presence with elegance and finesse. What a great success! We would not be surprised if it eventually turns out to be a classic, especially as the wine reveals its depth." 94+ Jean Fisch & David Rayer, MoselFineWines.com

"The fine, peachy nose leads you into this massively structured and really concentrated Mosel GG, which is very mineral, with austere elegance at the very long finish. Drink or hold." 94 James Suckling

"Precise and elegant on the nose, the 2020 Uhlen GG reveals a still phenolic structure and a still drying finish but with good fruit intensity and salinity. Promising." 92+ Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

Buisson Charles Morey St. Denis Les Louves 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Morey St. Denis, Burgundy

“From a 50/50 blend of Les Millandes and La Riotte. Jean-Paul et Benoit Droin Chablis Valmur 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"From recently replanted vines totaling 1.04 ha; aged in 50% wood but only a small percentage is new. Once again moderate wood is present on the spicy aromas of green fruit and oyster shell-inflected nose. The rich, powerful and broad-shouldered flavors possess a borderline creamy mid-palate texture while exhibiting outstanding length on the sappy and saline finish. Very promising." 92-94 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

"The 2021 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru offers more intensity and precision than the Vaudésir, the wood giving weight but beautifully assimilated, shucked oyster shells emerging. The palate is well balanced with a slightly honeyed opening, notes of lemon curd and orange pith, building nicely in the mouth towards a suave and lightly spiced finish. Superb." 92-94 Neal Martin, Vinous

"From a site of just over 1ha, Valmur is a colder site giving, as Droin says, a more masculine. Cool, closed on the nose, this will need a lot of time to open up. Oak is a little more apparent here, with very precise acidity. Very linear at the minute, a grand cru with a nose of white flowers, and a palate of great purity. This will need three to four years to open and will be hitting its stride in seven to eight." 93 Andy Howard MW, Decanter Magazine

"Pale lemon colour. An excellent bouquet, though as usual it is hard to know exactly where to place Valmur, some ripe apples, pears and the start of plums, rich and dense, with some marine notes at the back reminding us it is Chablis." 91-94 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

Castellare di Castellina I Sodi di San Niccolo 2018, 0.75L
Sangiovese / Malvasia Nera from Tuscany, Tuscany

"The 2018 I Sodi di San Niccolò is the most elegant Sodi I have ever tasted, and I have tasted them all. Sodi can be quite the bruiser in its youth, as the tannins are often imposing, but the 2018 is impressive because there is more than enough fruit to balance things out. Dark cherry, plum, lavender, spice and gravel build in a Sodi endowed with mind-blowing purity and exceptional finesse. Superb! (Drink between 2026-2043)" 97 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Il Marroneto Brunello di Montalcino 2017, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

"Alessandro Mori's Il Marroneto 2017 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a very distinguished and unique character that makes this wine easy to recognize in a lineup of Brunello. This hot and dry growing season made for more powerful aromas and sometimes riper flavors in the appellation, generally speaking. But this magically lean-bodied wine follows its own path, and the warmth of the summer seems to have cemented almost exotic aromas of bay leaf, crushed flower, campfire ash and iron ore. The wine is exceedingly silky and elegant, but instead of opulence, you get streamlined tension accompanied by lifted, immediate aromas of fruit, flowers and light spice." 95 Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Donnhoff Pinot Brut 2017, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Nahe, Nahe

"Famous, steeply sloping vineyard in a small side valley of the middle section of the Nahe River. The “Höllenpfad” (“Path to Hell”) name is an old one, likely referencing both the vineyard‘s steep slope as well as the unique color of the red sandstone. The surrounding landscape is bathed daily in the rich, warm light of the evening sun as it reflects off the hillside‘s distinctive red soil. It‘s also not hard to imagine that the word „Hell“ might have been uttered by many a winegrower after a particularly laborious day on these steep slopes. The weathered warm sandstone of the Rotliegend strata lends the wines their inimitable character. Grapes grown here tend to be very small with intense, nuanced aromas; the resulting wines are elegant with a spicy mineral fruit and excellent aging potential." Importer Notes

Condesa Clasica Gin NV, 0.75L
Gin from Mexico City, Mexico City

"Condesa Clásica Gin expands on a powerful botanical base of juniper to explore distinctly Mexican aromatics and spiritual traditions. Distilled using copper pot stills and built upon a Mexican-sourced neutral grain distillate of corn, rye, wheat, and barley; thirteen botanicals including juniper, palo santo, white sage, jasmine, coriander, elderflower, lavender, rosemary, cedron, myrrh, lime & orange zests echo the curandera (healer) traditions that use many of these same ingredients to cleanse negative energy, attract love, and expand consciousness. Jasmine, white sage, and the citrusy, faintly confectionary wood of the Palo Santo tree dominate this unique yet approachable gin. 43% ABV." Importer Notes

Hall Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"Primarily from the Hardester Ranch in Pope Valley, with other major contributions from St. Helena, Soda Canyon and Glass Mountain, it's a medium to full-bodied effort, with bold flavors of cherries, cassis and cedar. It's easy, but not soft, nicely firm, with a long, silky-textured finish. Craig and Kathryn Hall Sacrashe-d onto the Napa Valley wine scene with the 1994 purchase of the Sacrashe property, at the eastern edge of the Rutherford AVA. Craig was a successful businessman; Kathryn's family had owned a vineyard in Mendocino when she was growing up. From 1997–2001, Kathryn served as U.S. ambassador to Austria, which put a brief hold on the couple's plans to expand their wine business, but in 2001, they purchased the property on Highway 29 that has become their signature attraction. Mike Reynolds came on board in 2002 as winemaker and has since been promoted to president; my extensive tasting visit was conducted with the winery's current vice president of winemaking, Megan Gunderson, who joined Hall in 2005 as an enologist." 90 Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

Altos Las Hormigas Malbec Gualtallary 2019, 0.75L
Malbec from Gualtallary, Mendoza

"The 2019 Malbec Appellation Gualtallary comes from specific soils, two small three-hectare plots in the Cerros del Jaboncillo, where they find more caliche and limestone in Tupungato Winelands. They believe this place transmits the maximum expression of limestone to Malbec, giving a structured wine with fine-grained tannins with the wilderness from Gualtallary. It fermented in small concrete vats with indigenous yeasts at some 26 degrees Celsius for 20 days. Eighty-five percent of the volume matured in untoasted 3,500-liter French oak foudres for 20 months while the rest was kept in concrete. They sell it a little later than the Altamira because they feel Gualtallary needs a little more time in bottle; therefore, they are now offering the 2019 vintage, a very balanced wine that talks about the place where it was born. This is vibrant and expressive, with a complex nose and especially a lively palate with effervescent acidity and very fine-boned with elegant but firm tannins (they say "Serralunga-like" tannins). I find the recurring iron-like note of blood and fresh meat here too, intermixed with the wild flowers, herbs and spices. This has depth and complexity, and if Altamira is Barbaresco, Gualtallary is Barolo... 10,000 bottles were filled in January 2022." 97 Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Full-bodied, lush and round with very fine acidity and good structure, this is a densely woven, fleshy, super elegant, persistent and very powerful Veltliner with an impressive but slightly massive finish. Super sexy but I tend to prefer the Spiegel from the 2017 vintage. Tasted at Schloss Grafenegg and three weeks later in Vienna, both September 2018." 93 Points, Stephen Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

Francine et Oliver Savary Chablis Vieilles Vignes 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"The Savarys have finally earned the recognition for their hard work, and are highly regarded in the appellation. The clay-limestone hillsides of the Kimmeridgian chain are excellent for growing dazzling, complex Chardonnay, also known here as “Beaunois.” However ideal the soil, Olivier brings his own brilliance to the table. The grapes from his vineyards throughout the Chablis appellation are blended into one fabulously complex village wine cuvée.  He also bottles an extraordinary premier cru from Fourchaume, as well as a separate cuvée of old-vine fruit in heavy, wax-sealed bottles after élévage in demi-muids.  These exquisite wines are quintessential Chablis, with unmistakable aromas of ancient crushed shells and a pronounced, racy mineral structure." Importer Notes

Graville-Lacoste Graves Blanc 2021, 0.75L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc / Muscadelle from Graves, Bordeaux

"Located in the Graves in Pujols-sur-Ciron, Château Graville-Lacoste has a terroir which, from a geographical and geological point of view, is in the continuity of Château Roûmieu-Lacoste located in Haut-Barsac, Sauternes. With its finesse and elegance, the blend promotes balance between the minerality coming from the depth of the subsoils composed of cracked limestone rock and the fruit is pronounced on the citrus notes. Simple, fresh and light, we find its constancy in the vintages. It tastes well as an aperitif or accompanies seafood, fish, oysters and spicy dishes." Producer Notes

Niepoort Bairrada Branco Vinhas Velhas 2017, 0.75L
Bical / Maria Gomes from Cantanhede, Bairrada

"Light lemon in colour, with its usual vibrant, expressive but austere character, this wine really emphasises its mineral notes from the calcareous soils, harmonising with aromas of fresh herbs, limes and white blossoms. The austere and mineral-driven character of the Bical grape variety is complemented by the expressivity of the Maria Gomes grapes. On the palate, an impressive lightness offers, nevertheless, good body and plenty of grip. Its acidity and saline notes lift this wine, lending it a unique character full of freshness and elegance. The Vinhas Velhas is a linear, direct wine with an austere and profoundly mineral finish. This serious, extraordinary white wine should be enjoyed in a Burgundy glass." Producer Notes

Niepoort Quinta de Baixo Poeirinho 2016, 0.75L
Baga from Cantanhede, Bairrada

"The 2016 Poeirinho is a Baga aged for 20 months in old 2,000-liter fuders. It comes in at 12% alcohol. This seems better balanced and more refined than the 2015—but perhaps not as energetic. For the moment, I prefer the 2015, granting that they are not side by side. Lighter styled, crisp and transparent, this is a wine that is all about Baga characteristics. It adds that silky texture, refinement, acidity and tannins. It took a while for the pure power to come out, but there is plenty. The tannins are harder than you think at first—although not impossibly astringent. This is certainly beautiful, but it needs some time to evolve and develop, even if you can approach it fairly young. Let's be a little conservative and start here. This will have a long life ahead and plenty of time to evolve." 94 Points, Mark Squires, Wine Advocate

Pascal Doquet Arpege Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut NV, 0.75L

"There is pure chalk and freshness on the nose, with white and intense fruit . . . . On the palate, this is a very complex and highly mineral Champagne with great purity, finesse, elegance and character. There is a lot of mineral grip and great complexity. Pascal Doquet's organic Champagnes are of great precision and among the very best that the Côte des Blancs has to offer. Highly recommended." 93 Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

"The NV Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Arpège is a gorgeous, sculpted Champagne built on precision. Outward Wines Cabernet Sauvignon Massa Vineyard 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Carmel Valley, California

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Massa Vineyard comes from old vines planted in 1968 in the Carmel Valley near the coast. "For us, the best expressions are varietally distinct, and we wanted to pay homage to that older style in California," say Natalie Siddique and Ryan Pace, the newly married couple behind Outward, founded in 2016. Grapes were destemmed and spent 30 days on skins with delicate pour-overs done "by hand with a pitcher," they quip—their production is still tiny, with about 1,100 cases made in 2021. The Massa Cabernet has a medium ruby-purple color and bright aromas of red and black currants, blueberries, sage, aniseed and tobacco leaves. The medium-bodied palate is delicately intense with perfumed fruit and savory accents. It has an approachable, lightly chalky frame, energetic acidity calling you in for another sip and a long, floral finish. It's an elegant, easy-to-drink style to enjoy over the next 3-5 years. Niepoort Batuta Tinto 2015, 0.75L
Touriga Franca / Tinta Roriz / Rufete from Douro, Douro

"The 2015 Batuta is a field blend from old vines, with lots of Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Rufete and others, aged in 20% new French barriques for 20 months. It comes in at just 12.5% alcohol. This may be my favorite Batuta in a long time. Now, this is always an elegantly crafted wine, always understated (often, to a fault). This year, though, it has a particularly nice combination of freshness, grip and ripe tannins that make it very appealing. Then, it adds that gorgeous intensity of fruit flavor that this vintage produced, perfectly supported and defined by the acidity that slams the fruit into the palate. There is also very respectable weight (relative to this usually understated bottling and the elegant vintage). It then finishes tight and grabs the palate. Overall, this deserves some props and plenty of them. It should age beautifully. It is also a vintage that is approachable young, but it will certainly be better in 2020 or so, assuming you can keep your hands off of it. It is very tasty now, if a bit tight. We'll see what the future brings, but I have to lean up on this beauty right now. This was not bottled when seen, but it was a tank sample, out of barrel and the final blend."  94-96 Mark Squires, Wine Advocate, Aug 2017

Château de Fosse-Sèche Saumur Réserve du Pigeonnier 2019, 0.75L

Château de Fosse-Sèche Laurasie Rouge 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Saumur, Loire

"Darker in its ruby color, the 2019 Laurasie is a pure Cabernet Sauvignon from almost 20-year-old vines on the stony Jurassic plateau of Fosse-Sèche, where yields are not bigger than 20 hectoliters per hectare. This is fleshy and concentrated yet pure, fresh and elegant on the deep, terroir-driven and beautifully floral (violets) as well as graphitic nose that is absolutely distinctive in its delicate, pure and balanced style. Black and blue berries, dark cherries, green paprika, pencil lead and herbal, wet gravelly notes lead to a medium to full-bodied, highly elegant, refined and perfectly balanced palate that exhibits perfectly ripe, round and juicy fruit with a firm but ripe, very fine and elegant tannin/acidity complex. The finish of this concentrated red is tight, intense and spicy, showing black berry and chocolate as well as graphite and coal with dark cherry notes. Irresistible and, in 2019, possibly the finest wine from Fosse-Sèche. The wine was aged for 12 months in concrete eggs. Tasted in January 2021." 94 Points, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

Bernard Burgaud Cote-Rotie 2019, 0.75L

"Saturated magenta. Powerful, mineral-driven red and blue fruit, candied violet, olive and exotic spice scents show fine definition and lift. Densely packed and energetic on the palate, offering intense, spice-accented bitter cherry, Chambord and blueberry flavors that open up with air. The blue fruit and floral notes drive an impressively long, finely detailed finish that's given grip by polished, steadily building tannins. 20% new oak." 94 Points, Josh Raynolds, Vinous, December 2022

"Closer in style to the 2018 than the 2017, the 2019 Cote Rotie is a big, rich, powerful Côte Rôtie that has loads of meaty, gamey black fruits, smoked herb, pepper, and chocolate-like aromas and flavors. With full-bodied richness, a round, layered texture, terrific tannins, and a great finish, it's a powerhouse yet traditional Côte Rôtie that will need 4-5 years to shed its baby fat yet evolve for 20+ years." 93-95 Jeb Dunnuck

Alegre Valgañón Rioja Blanco 2020, 0.75L
Viura / Grenache Blanc from Rioja, La Rioja

"The 2020 Rioja Blanco from Alegre Valgañón is composed from its customary blend of ninety percent Viura and ten percent Garnacha Blanco. The wine is bright and youthfully reticent today, but with some coaxing offers up a lovely bouquet of tart pear, lemon, white soil tones, spring flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, crisp and impeccably balanced, with a fine core and soil undertow, lovely focus and bounce and a long, nascently complex and very promising finish. Bessin-Tremblay Chablis Vieilles Vignes 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"The 2020 Vieilles Vignes cuvée seems to have recovered a bit better from the bottling than the straight villages, but this may simply be a reflection of the superior depth and elegance of the old vines weighing in here. In any case, this is going to be an excellent bottle and a superb value this year, as it offers up a very promising bouquet of pear, tangerine, fruit blossoms, a lovely, almost flinty sense of chalky minerality and a hint of the beeswax to come with bottle age. On the palate the wine is bright, deep and full, with a lovely core, superb mineral drive and grip, bright tangy acids and a long, nascently complex finish. This is clearly going to be outstanding with a few years’ worth of bottle age. (Drink between 2024-2050)"  91-92 Points, John Gillman, View from the Cellar

This is aromatically similar to the regular cuvée but with even better Chablis character. However, there is notably better mid-palate density and power to the bigger-bodied flavors that exude outstanding intensity while coating the mouth on the beautifully long finale. While offering another dimension of depth, it comes at the price of being more structured. Highly recommended provided you have the patience to allow it at least a few years of keeping. 90 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Pierre Gerbais Champ Viole NV, 1.5L
Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne

"Aurélien Gerbais has just launched this range of new, single parcel bottlings, all based on a series of soleras he has begun for each wine . . . . with the perpetual reserve cuvées having been started several years before and added to the base year. Each bottling is also a single cépage, with the Champ Viole parcel being planted to chardonnay and the solera for this bottling started in 2011. The vins clairs for this wine were aged in cask . . . and finished with a dosage of three grams per liter. It delivers a splendid nose of pear, delicious apple, hazelnut, chalky soil tones, fresh-baked bread and just a touch of buttery oak. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and zesty, with a full-bodied format, a rock solid core of fruit, outstanding mineral drive and cut, snappy acids, pinpoint bubbles and a long, complex and very nicely balanced finish. This could do with a year or two in the cellar to let its acids relax a bit more, but in a pinch, it is already pretty tasty. Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie Clos Vernay 2016, 0.75L
Gamay from Fleurie, Beaujolais

"The 2016 Fleurie Clos Vernay wafts from the glass with a nuanced bouquet of raspberries, wild plums, dark chocolate and loamy soil. "The 2019 Saint-Véran Cuvée La Combe DesRoches wafts from the glass with scents of orange oil, honeyed orchard fruit, elderflower and warm bread. Medium to full-bodied, bright and layered, it's attractively tensile despite the warmth of the vintage. Domaine La Soufrandière is the family estate of dynamic brothers Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume Bret (for reviews of their négociant project, see Bret Brothers), where they produce beautifully satiny, pure wines that are reliably flavorful and expressive. "Aromas of citrus blossom, fresh peach, pears and warm pastry introduce Jeandeau's 2017 Viré-Clessé, a medium to full-bodied, lively and precise wine that's elegantly textural but decidedly incisive by the standards of the appellation. With time in the glass, musky nuances emerge, hinting at the presence of some muscaté selections of Chardonnay; Jeandeau opts to raise these in tank, while the remaining two-thirds are vinified in barrel. Pomegranate, freshly cut roses and mint are some of the nuances that add complexity, but this is really about fruit and structure, both of which the wine has in spades. Dhont's Rosé is a big, vinous wine meant for the dinner table. I loved it." 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"... A waft of pretty cherry blossom and spice notes on the nose drawing you into the glass, where a backbone of chiseled acidity is aligned with flavors of ripe red apple and raspberry fruit, pickled ginger and an underpinning of chalky mineral. Fine and vibrant in texture, this expands slowly, so give it time .... [Only] 200 cases made, 70 cases imported." 93 Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator

de Forville Barbaresco 2019, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, Piedmont

"This is the standard-bearer for the estate. The vines are planted exclusively within the confines of Barbaresco and are scattered among various 'crus', including Rabaja and Pozzo. The average age of the vines is 35 years. After harvest, the juice is fermented in stainless steel for approximately two weeks; then the wine is racked into large oak 'botti' to age at least 18 additional months and frequently longer before being bottled. This wine is emblematic of the work done at the De Forville estate: the wine is rigorously traditional, marrying the finesse of Barbaresco with the alluring aromas and flavors of truffle, earth, berries, rose, tar and leather and carrying, most important of all, a backbone of sweet, dusty tannins that give length and breed."  Importer Notes

Goisot Exogyra Virgula Sauvignon Blanc de Saint-Bris 2021, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc from Saint-Bris, Burgundy

From 4.38 hectares of vineyard land from the lieux-dits of Cornevin, Cote de la Canne and La Roncie. 50% of the vines are 10-15 years old and 50% are 15-40 years in age.
The wine is vinified at cold temperatures in stainless steel vats using native yeasts and aged on its fine lees. It shares many attributes with top bottlings of Sancerre from terres blanches soils, and it is generally cropped at lower yields than all but the very best estates in Sancerre. Brilliant minerality and poise from this master of the appellation. Nose of citrus and melon. Very long and intense. Beaune Imports

Bodega Margón Paraje de El Santo 2014, 0.75L
Prieto Picudo from Tierra de Leon, León

"The most aromatic red is the 2014 Pricum Paraje de El Santo. The grapes from old vines planted on sandy soils in conjunction with the cooler year delivered a wine with less alcohol and higher acidity, more freshness and a more elegant profile, all within the rusticity of the grape and the zone, of course! It has a floral touch intermixed with spices and an earthy touch. The palate reveals abundant fine-grained tannins. This vintage is a little less austere and has character and a strong personality. 2,100 bottles were filled in December 2016." 94 Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Vinedos del Jorco Las Enebradas Navalgordo 2017, 0.75L
Grenache from Paraje del Jorco, Castilla y León

"I was really looking forward to the 2017 Las Enebradas, because the first vintage, 2016, was the revelation of my last review of the zone of Gredos. I was quite surprised because the profile is very different: the wine has a lot more color and up to 2% more alcohol. Nacho Jiménez, one of the partners, explained that the profile of the 2016 vintage was exceptional and hard to replicate, as yields were higher and it rained just before they picked the grapes, so the wine is a lot lighter. 2017 was very different, a lot warmer and with lower yields, and the grapes delivered a concentrated juice with a lot more color, tannin and alcohol. It has a more Mediterranean profile, more in line with the rest of the wines. This fermented with 50% full clusters and temperature control and matured in one 500-liter oak barrel. Despite the higher ripeness and the headier character, the wines from Navatalgordo have a different texture and fine thread, the finesse of a cooler place and sandy soils at higher altitude (even if the vines are south-facing here), and you see it when tasting this next to the wines from Cebreros. It's more elegant and fresher. 570 bottles were filled in August 2019." 93 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Tameran Vijariego Gran Canaria Blanco 2020, 0.75L
Vijariego Blanco from Gran Canaria, Canarias

"Vijariego Blanco, also known as Diego, is thought to have been introduced in the Canaries from Andalucía and is not a mutation of Vijariego. There are multiple spellings, most notably Vijariego and Vijiriego, even Bujariego in La Palma, but this name is not allowed anymore. It’s a grape with high acidity and lowish alcohol, so it’s often used for sparkling wines. The 2020 Vijariego Blanco is only 11.2% alcohol with a low pH of 3.14 and notable acidity, 7.5 grams (measured in tartaric acid per liter), so it's a light and sharp wine true to the variety. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in 500-liter oak barrels, where it matured with lees for 10 months. It's floral and vibrant, the latest-ripening grape here, with more freshness. It's a wine that should develop nicely in bottle. This is a little shy compared with its siblings, but it's a wine that will gain with time in bottle. 1,320 bottles were filled in June 2021." 93 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

This fleshes out across the palate with silky textures and ripe red fruits under an air of rosy inner florals. Dominio de Pingus Ribera del Duero PSI 2020, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

"The unbottled sample of the 2020 PSI feels young, juicy, very fruit-driven and clean. 2020 was an unusual vintage, first of all because of COVID-19, but it was a year with lots of light, plenty of flowers and a beautiful spring. They were able to harvest quite early and finished two days before the abundant rains (except in Soria, which is a different story) that started on the 20th of September. In Ribera, there will be two different harvests: the wines before the rain and those from after. So, this is very healthy, aromatic and floral, with a spark of freshness but also ripe and round. It's going to be a crowd-pleaser. It has a bright ruby color, with some 10% Garnacha. It somehow has less Tempranillo character. Volumes are similar to 2019, with around 350,000 bottles that they expect to bottle around June 2022." 92-94 Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Domaine Overnoy-Crinquand Cremant du Jura Brut NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Cotes du Jura, Jura

Crinquand uses fruit from the younger vines of Ploussard to make his sparkling wine. Although the vintage is not indicated on the label, Crinquand’s Crémant is vintage specific, all the juice being from a single harvest. The Crémant from this estate is bone-dry “brut zero” (no dosage). On the palate one senses a hint of tannin, a strong underlying earthiness … its “terroir” and an ebullient raspberry fruit in both flavor and on the nose. Certified Organic. Rosenthal Wine Merchant

The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino offers a pretty succession of wild berry, cherry and plum aromas, along with light spice, crushed flowers and perfumed potting soil. Guy Larmandier Cramant Grand Cru Brut Zero Blanc de Blancs NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Cramant, Champagne

"The non-dosage disgorgement of Larmandier’s Cramant is a different beast from the “classic” version: less rich but more driving; less broad but longer in the mouth. The total absence of any sense of sweetness allows the limestone to take center stage, and it presents in a more piercing and saline manner than the above wine. Despite its relative rigorousness and austerity, however, this is by no means a difficult wine. Rather, it will appeal to those who relish the sort of palpable, intense mineral character Champagne is capable of when made in such a straightforward fashion." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Fongoli Montefalco Sagrantino Fracanton 2015, 0.75L
Sagrantino from Montefalco, Umbria

"The 2015 Montefalco Sagrantino Fracanton takes the vibrant character and depth of Fongoli Montefalco Sagrantino and dials everything up a notch. Like a florist shop on the nose, this is literally bursting with rose and violet perfumes complicated by crushed rocks and tart cherries. Rich with soft contours yet full of life, it’s the tantalizing acidity that really shines here, as it enlivens the ripe red fruits and sweet herbal tones within. Hints of licorice stain the senses throughout the finale, as the 2015 finishes potent yet incredibly fresh. The tannin management here is unbelievable. Fabio Motta Le Gonnare Bolgheri 2018, 0.75L
Merlot / Syrah from Bolgheri, Tuscany

"Fabio Motta is one of the best performers in Bolgheri among the small producers of the next generation. Almost ready with his new winery, it represents a kind of garagiste in the appellation. He ferments all the wines with natural yeast and manages careful extraction and maceration. His original blend for Le Gonnare sees an addition of Syrah to complete the 85% of Merlot and is aged in 1/3 new French oak barriques. Intense and perfumed it shows kiwi peel and cedar wood aromas, loaded with restrained cassis and bitter orange flavour. The attack is dense and ripe with elegant texture and chewy tension on the finish." 95 Aldo Fiordelli, Decanter Magazine

"Extremely complex and darkly primary in profile, with alternating notes of black plum, blackberry, incense, black tea leaves, licorice stick, and sandalwood. Morgen Long X Omni Chardonnay 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Willamette Valley, Oregon

"I first became aware of the high quality of the densely-planted vineyards owned by Craig Williams when I tasted a wine produced from his X Novo Vineyard during a visit to Walter Scott Wines a few years ago. That is the sister vineyard to his X Omni Vineyard. The vines at X Omni are still on the younger side, but this is going to be one of the best sites for chardonnay on the west coast in coming years and is already producing really beautiful fruit. Seth Long picked his parcel here on September 20th, the day after the smoke cleared out of the Willamette Valley. The wine was barrel-fermented and aged for eleven and a half months in one new five hundred liter puncheon and a “one wine” three hundred and fifty liter cask. The wine was assembled in stainless steel to spend its second winter and then bottled in the February of 2022. It tips the scales at a svelte 12.5 percent alcohol this year. The wine is gently new oaky on the nose, wafting from the glass in a refined blend of apple, almond, lime blossoms, a beautiful base of soil, an exotic touch of fresh mint and a beautiful framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is bright, complex and full, with a superb core of fruit, marvelous soil signature, zesty acids and a very long, complex and intensely flavored finish. Nebbiolo from Carema, Piedmont

"If there is any wine that defines the Ferrando “oeuvre” it is this one: the white label Carema. No single wine in our portfolio is more illustrative of our work than this brilliant rendition of Nebbiolo. Produced exclusively from the Nebbiolo grape planted in a series of vineyards that sit beneath Mont Blanc (Monte Bianco) in a broad amphitheatre with full southern exposure overlooking the river, Dora Baltea, that runs from the snow-capped mountains south through the Valle d’Aosta into the northwestern range of Piedmont slicing the city of Ivrea in half. The vines are trained in a special way on pergola (known as “tupin” in local dialect) to obtain maximum exposure to the sun in this high altitude district and are planted to soils that are dominated by slate. The appellation of Carema is extremely small: only 16 hectares (approximately 40 acres) are planted to the vine..." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Calabretta Nerello Mascalese Vigne Vecchie 2012, 0.75L
Nerello Mascalese from Sicilia, Sicily

"The 2012 Nerello Mascalese Vigne Vecchie takes things to a darker, earthier yet ultimately thrilling level, as crushed black raspberry and plum sauce are complemented by hints of exotic brown spice, tobacco and underbrush. This gains freshness through notes of white smoke and roses that emerge with time in the glass. It’s silky, verging on fleshy and quite potent, ushering in textural waves of ripe wild berries and sweet spices, yet balance is maintained through a core of brisk acidity. This leaves a saturation of primary purple and blue-toned concentration upon the senses, becoming youthfully chewy through the dramatically long and lightly structured finale. There is no sign of the 16% abv that’s stated on the label, as the 2012 Vigne Vecchie comes across as completely harmonious, but in need of another year or two of cellaring. Calabretta and their seven hectares of high-elevation vineyards are located on Etna’s northern slope. At this family farm, tradition rules supreme. Most of the vines found throughout their vineyards are between 70 and 80 years old, planted along steep stone terraces, and many of them are ungrafted. All work is done by hand, which is actually necessary here, and without the use of pesticides or herbicides. Calabretta relies on spontaneous fermentations with wild yeasts, matures their wines in 50- to 70-hectoliter Slavonian oak botti and only releases them when they feel that they are ready to drink. The 2011 and 2012 Vigne Vecchie in this report are the current available vintages. The wines of Calabretta are for readers who want to explore what centuries of tradition truly looks like; but be aware, they can be just as extreme as the terroir of Etna itself." 94 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous

Ficomontanino Toscana Rosso Granomelo 2018, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Tuscany, Tuscany

"Dusty cherry and crushed fall leaves evolve slowly into a deeper display of citrus-tinged raspberries, cinnamon and sweet white smoke as the 2018 Rosso Granomelo blossoms in the glass. This seduces with a silky wave of pure, ripe red berries and spices, as brilliant acidity lends vibrancy and saline-mineral tones add a salty flair. The 2018 has energy to burn, coming across as primary and wild, yet also refined. An herbal twang and grippy tannins collect toward the close. It leaves the palate classically dry, caked with an almost-chalky coating; however, it’s mouthwatering all the same. The contrasts here keep you guessing with each tilt of the glass, a mix of sheer drinkability and noble stature. This is a gorgeous glass of Sangiovese. The Granomelo hails from Ficomontanino’s Melogranino vineyard. It goes through spontaneous fermentation with a two-month maceration, and then refines completely in concrete. I’ll be following this wine closely in the vintages to come. A selection of inspired Tuscan wines arrived from Maria Sole at Ficomontanino. This is a 12-hectare property located in the extreme southeast of Tuscany, bordering Umbria and Lazio. In fact, geographically speaking, the climate here is closer to northern Lazio and mountainous Umbria than it is to Tuscany. The vineyards were originally planted by Maria Sole's grandfather in the 1960s, yet winemaking was more of a hobby for him. She took the reins of the family farm from her father after being bitten by the wine bug and was inspired by the likes of Tenute Dettori in Sardinia. Her education at Slow Food’s University of Culinary Arts at Pollenzo is also a huge influence in the winemaking here, choosing natural practices in the vineyards, spontaneous fermentations, long macerations, neutral aging vessels, no fining or filtration, and a minimum use of sulfur. In the end, Maria Sole really seems to be onto something, delivering a transparent and honest representation of terroir." 93 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous

Giuseppe Mascarello Barbera d'Alba Scudetto 2019, 0.75L
Barbera from Barbera d'Alba, Piedmont

Refines in oak barrels for a few months, depending on the vintage. It goes out to the public after three years from the harvest and holds up to 10/15 years in the cellars of fans all over the world."

Clos des Rocs Pouilly-Loché Clos des Rocs 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Pouilly-Loché, Burgundy

"Bottled shortly before I tasted it, Giroux's emblematic 2020 Pouilly-Loché Clos des Rocs (Monopole) unwinds in the glass with aromas of orange zest, Anjou pear, freshly baked bread, citrus blossom and nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy, with racy acids and a long, saline finish, it's a quintessentially elegant, seamless wine which I'm sure will show even better when it has bounced back from bottling." 93 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

DuMOL Syrah DuMOL Estate Vineyard 2016, 0.75L

"Even better, and a dead ringer for a top Cornas from the likes of Pierre-Marie Clape or Allemand, the 2016 Syrah Estate Vineyard comes from a tiny 1.5-acre vineyard on the Sonoma Coast. Meaty, peppery, bloody, and incredibly complex, with lots of black olive, cracked peppercorns, smoke, and ripe, dark Syrah fruit, it has building tannin, awesome mid-palate depth, and a remarkable purity, elegance, and balance about it that’s going to keep it drinking beautifully for 10-15 years." 97 Points, Jeb Dunnuck

Colète Merlot Black Vineyard Coombsville 2019, 0.75L
Merlot from Combsville, Napa Valley

"Colète is a Napa Valley merlot designed by Rajat Parr and Marie Vayron Ponsonnet. They find their inspiration in Pomerol, merlot’s defining place and where Marie happened to grow up! The best Pomerol merlots unite disparate characteristics—they are soft, round, and fleshy, yet also textured, structured, and sharp, with deep earthy flavors of plum, dark berries, and mineral. This vintage is sourced from a unique parcel located in Coombsville where the vines benefit from a cool marine air and well drained volcanic soils. In touch with the beauty of this vineyard, Colète 2019 shows balance between power and brightness, with a vivid and suave black fruit." Winery Notes

It has a very focused bouquet of black fruit infused with graphite/pencil lead scents, a touch of brine emerging with time. Georges Laval Champagne Cumieres Les Hautes Chevres Brut Nature 2017, 0.750L
Pinot Meunier / Pinot Noir from Cumières, Champagne

"It is hard to believe that Vincent Laval’s bottling from les Hautes Chèvres made the switch from very old vine pinot noir after the 2009 vintage to (not quite so) old vine pinot meunier in 2010 and never missed a beat in terms of quality and aging potential. The 2017 is the eighth harvest of pinot meunier composition for this beautiful cuvée and it is another gorgeous young wine. The bouquet is bright, pure and complex, offering up scents of tangerine, apple, brioche, chalky soil tones, lavender, acacia blossoms and just a hint of oak in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, crisp and deep at the core, with lovely transparency and grip, pinpoint bubbles, precise focus, seamless balance and a very, very long, refined and complex finish. Georges Laval Champagne Les Chenes Brut Nature 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Cumières , Champagne

"The 2018 Georges Laval “les Chênes” Blanc de Blancs is a stunning young wine. It was disgorged in May of 2022 after three years aging sur latte. The beautiful bouquet jumps from the glass in a blaze of passion fruit, pear, fresh almond, a beautiful base of chalky soil tones, brioche, a hint of buttery oak and a pungent topnote of orange blossoms. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with a fine core, lovely mineral undertow, elegant mousse and a long, focused and impeccably balanced finish. This is a young wine that deserves plenty of time in the cellar to hit its true apogee, but it has no rough edges today and is already damn hard not to want to drink in this first blush of youth. Henri Perrusset Macon-Villages 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Macon, Burgundy

"Henri Perrusset’s vineyards and home are located in the small town of Farges-les-Mâcon, on the northernmost spur of the limestone subsoil that characterizes the appellation of Mâcon. Farges is not far away from the village named (believe it or not) Chardonnay. The limestone in Farges is more marly than the compact limestone farther south in Pouilly-Fuissé. It is hard and intensely white, but breaks apart into small pieces and it is loaded with quartz and marine fossils as well. This type of soil is easier to work despite all the stones, provides great drainage for the vines, and gives the wines their grainy minerality. Our Mâcon-Farges bottling comes uniquely from a parcel of old vines, while the Mâcon-Villages is a custom blend of all his other holdings around Farges. These are Chardonnays with the ripeness and intensity level of a Pouilly-Fuissé or even a Saint-Aubin, with the particular goût de terroir of Henri’s corner of Mâcon." Importer Notes

Chardonnay from Serrières, Ardèche

"A delightful sparkling wine built exclusively from Chardonnay (younger vines of 20 years of age) harvested from parcels in the village of Serrieres on the border with Pierreclos. The vineyards are west facing and are planted to sandy soils. Only 6000 bottles are produced annually, a good portion of which come to the USA. Depending on vintage conditions, the malo-lactic fermentation is sometimes blocked in order to maintain the proper high level of acidity. Cameron Pinot Noir Abbey Ridge Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Dundee Hills, Oregon

“Cameron might not be a familiar name internationally speaking, however, certainly within Oregon and among cognoscenti, John-Paul Cameron is a bastion of artisanal winemaking when, around him, deluxe, state-of-the-art wineries are sprouting. Sure, these new arrivals unintentionally make Cameron's estate look a bit ‘shabby,’ but their wines are anything but. In some ways their ethos reminds me of Jean-François Coche... John-Paul was out doing the rounds when I visited, delivering his limited production wines directly to long-standing clients, apparently his favorite weekly chore. That again reminded me of Coche-Dury - a renowned producer whose loyalty remains with his longstanding customers. John-Paul does not appear concerned with pursuing high prices for his wine or creating a brand image. He just makes the wines in a simple manner and then delivers them to contented customers. I was met by assistant winemaker Tom Sivilli and their 17-year-old moggy that is still doing his bit by catching mice. There is no tasting room facility here and because they are so busy, they rarely accept visitors, so I tasted the small number of bottled wines up in the kitchen and then descended down to the barrel cellar to taste from barrel …. Tom opined that the 2014s will benefit from a little more ageing in barrel, more than the usual 11 months that the Oregon Pinot Noirs are given, and they will be bottled this coming August. I also asked Tom about their methodology towards picking: ’We don't pick on Brix,’ he explained. ‘We pick when the color is starting to bleed out of the skin and when the pH goes up. We go out into the vineyard, taste the seeds and the fruit. Usually we are early.’ John-Paul Cameron's wines comes highly recommended.” Neal Martin, Wine Advocate

G.D. Vajra Barolo Coste Di Rose 2017, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

"With fruit from higher-elevation vineyards in the village of Barolo, the 2017 Barolo Coste di Rose is quite elegantly downplayed and fragile. The wine reveals wild berry, cassis and lots of blue flower or lilac. A pretty mineral note recalls crushed limestone and is present through the long and polished mouthfeel. This wine overperforms, considering the challenges of this vintage that saw extreme weather, from spring frost to scorching summer temperatures. These vineyard sites performed better than most. Some 4,800 bottles were released." 94 Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

"The 2017 Barolo Coste di Rose has bright aromatics of candied raspberry, apricot, anise, and dusty earth. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and notes of dried wild strawberry, fresh roses, and mineral-rich earth. This wine is open and inviting, while maintaining freshness and drive. Drink 2024-2040.<!--more-->The G.D. Vajra estate is based within the commune of Barolo, where Giuseppe and Aldo Vajra helm the winemaking responsibilities. Giuseppe, who took more of a leadership role in 2008, has been instrumental in continuing to develop the family estate, while Isonzo Vajra leads in vineyard management. Most recently they have completed the expansion of their cellar space, and they are also releasing their wines a touch later to allow the additional time in bottle to soften any harsh edges. As of the 2019 vintage, both the G.D.Vajra and Luigi Baudana estates are certified organic." 94 Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com

"The 2017 Barolo Coste di Rose is pretty, supple and inviting. Some of the tannins need to resolve, but this is a young Barolo after all. The Coste di Rose doesn't have the sensuality of the Albe or the pedigree of the Viole, but it nevertheless has so much to give. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, mint, crushed rocks and sage are some of the many notes that linger. I won't be surprised if the 2017 is even better than this note suggests once it softens a bit." 93 Antonio Galloni, VInous

Enfield Wine Co. Chardonnay Citrine 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from California, California

Citrine is a gemstone of'“yellow quartz.' Citrine Chardonnay is made with an eye towards a balance of golden California sun and a gentle kiss of minerality. Vineyards: Blend of four different vineyards with an average age of almost 40 years. The base of the blend (50%) is a block of 42-year-old, own-rooted vines at Rorick Heritage Vineyard in the Sierra Foothills. The blend also includes fruit from Haynes, Heron Lake & Brosseau vineyards. Vinification: The Chardonnay grapes were gently whole cluster pressed and lightly settled. Barrel fermented with native yeast and full native ML fermentation it was aged on its own lees for 12 months in barrel, blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered. This wine was bottled using Plantcorc-a sugar cane-based cork alternative. Tasting notes: This wine exhibits a balance of tropical fruit and floral aromatics with surprising acid and a subtle creaminess. It is juicy, mineral, a little bit saline and shows some savory notes on the finish. Intense on the palate but not heavy and showing nice finesse, this wine is distinctly Californian with nice lift, similar to what we would expect from Chardonnay from southern Burgundy. Beaune Imports

Valdesil Pezas da Portela Godello 2018, 0.75L
Godello from Valdeorras, Galicia

"Pale, green-tinged yellow. Fresh pear, white peach and orange zest on the nose, with honeysuckle and mineral notes adding lift. Bright and sharply focused in the mouth, offering incisive citrus and orchard fruit flavors complemented by suggestions of fennel and quinine. Smoothly melds power and vivacity and finishes very long and nervy, showing outstanding clarity and minerally persistence. (Drink between 2021-2027)" 93 Josh Raynolds, Vinous

"The barrel-fermented Godello 2018 Pezas Da Portela has a more golden color and a creamy nose, spicy and somehow flinty, not oaky. It fermented and matured with lees and bâtonnage in French barriques for six months. The palate reveals complex flavors; it's nuanced with a mixture of mineral and gunpowder-like notes with notions of tangerine peel, quince paste and dried flowers, with yellow rather than white fruit. This comes from a myriad of small plots in the village of Portela, where the family Prada Gayoso originated. Serious, seamless and expressive Godello. 8,000 bottles produced. It rested in tank for one year before it was bottled in February 2020. I had not tasted the wines from Valdesil for a while, as they seemed to have vanished into thin air." 92+ Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Vinas Serranas El Canchorral 2019, 0.75L
Rufete from Castilla y León, Castilla y León

"The 2019 El Canchorral is a blend of Calabrés (Garnacha), Aragonés (Tempranillo), Verdejo Negro, Rufete Blanco, Palomino, Moscatel and other grapes planted 85 years ago on degraded pink granite soils. This is the only wine that ferments with 100% full clusters. It has a lot of white grapes and is more floral, with less alcohol (it's 13.5% even in this riper year), more acidity and a lower pH. It is more floral à la Fleury and very expressive, as they can use very low doses of sulfur in this wine given its higher natural acidity (possibly because of the white grapes). This comes from a very old vineyard, and the varieties feel very integrated and complement each other. It comes through as complex and nuanced, a little riper and showier than the 2018. The palate reflects the effect of the stems in the vinification a little. All of these single-vineyard wines matured in used oak barrels for some 15 months in 2019. Around 1,500 bottles were filled in May 2021." 94 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

"The 2019 Vernaccia di San Gimignano Fiore offers yellow flowers, orchard fruit, dried flowers, almonds and tangerine peel. Varietal notes are given an extra kick of richness, yielding a Vernaccia with lovely mid-palate creaminess and light tropical accents, both of which add character. Luigi Baudana Barolo Cerretta 2017, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

"A sweet perfume lifts from the 2017 Barolo Cerretta, with fresh violets, kirsch, cinnamon, and sage. The palate is energetic with forward fruit through the mid-palate with persistence, with tea leaf and present but well-integrated tannins. The Cerretta displays the elegance that is possible within the 2017 vintage. Drink 2022-2040. Since 2009, Luigi Baudana has been under the operation and ownership of the G.D. Vajra estate from Barolo. As with the Vajra estate, Giuseppe and Aldo manage the winemaking process, along with Giuseppe’s brother Isidoro, the vineyard manager. They continue to consult with Luigi for his understanding of the land and experience. They utilize primarily 15- to 17-hectoliter Slavonian barrels for aging, as the size of the cellar dictates. For the Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba bottling, selections are made from the crus of Baudana, Cerretta, and Costabella. With the 2019 vintage, they are now certified organic. (Drink between 2022-2040)" 96 Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com

"A dark, somber wine, the 2017 Barolo Cerretta shows the more potent, brooding side of Serralunga. Black cherry, gravel, smoke, cured meats, cloves and menthol add to an impression of virile intensity and pure power. Readers will have to be patient here, but there is certainly a ton to look forward to. This is another impressive showing from Baudana and the Vajra family." 95 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

G. D. Vajra Barolo Ravera 2017, 0.75L

"Lifted and herbaceous, the 2017 Barolo Ravera is noted by aromas of fresh pine, ripe red cherry, licorice, and menthol. The palate has depth without weight and is noted by ripe raspberry fruit, apricot, and black tea. The G.D. "The 2017 Barolo Ravera is gorgeous right out of the gate. I am so impressed with its depth and pedigree. Rose petal, sweet red berry fruit, lavender, spice and dried herbs are all finely delineated in a Barolo of tremendous presence. Orange peel, cinnamon and cedar develop later, adding shades of dimension. Time in the glass brings out the wine's stature and power. The 2017 is going to be fascinating to follow. Big Basin Vineyards Syrah Rattlesnake Rock 2016, 0.75L
Syrah from Santa Cruz Mountains, California

"The 2016 Syrah Rattlesnake Rock is a powerful wine. Red fruit, iron, chalk, white pepper, game and incisive tannins give the 2016 a real feeling of drive that distinguishes it in the range. This is an especially mineral-driven, savory, taut Syrah, with all the elements in the right place. Dried herbs, licorice and crushed flowers add aromatic intrigue. It will be interesting to see if the 2016 gains a bit more volume in bottle. It is such a promising wine. The Côte-Rôtie selection Syrah from John Alban works so well here." 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"From the home estate in the Santa Cruz Moutains, the 2016 Syrah Rattlesnake Rock is a firm, mineral-laced, yet concentrated and textured Syrah that's going to benefit from bottle age. Red and black fruits, spiced meat, bacon fat, and dried flower notes are just some of its nuances. A concentrated, classic mountain Syrah, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age and will cruise . . ." 94+ Jeb Dunnuck

"The 2016 Rattlesnake Rock bottling of syrah from Big Basin is one of their estate vineyard bottlings, as these vines were planted in 2000 in this windy parcel that sits between thirteen hundred and fourteen hundred feet above sea level. The 2016 version includes one-third whole clusters, was fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for twenty-one months in used, three hundred liter barrels. The cépages here includes two percent of viognier that was co-fermented with the syrah. The wine comes in at 13.9 percent octane and offers up a deep and properly reserved bouquet of cassis, black raspberry, grilled meats, pepper, a touch of black olive, fine stony soil tones and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and rock solid at the core, with a superb core of fruit, firm, ripe tannins and outstanding balance and grip on the long, nascently complex and very, very promising finish. There is a strong vein of iron in the soils here and this really comes across on the backend here. This is outstanding syrah in the making, with plenty of structure and outstanding depth of fruit. Think of old school Hermitage with a different, stony soil signature." 93 John Gilman, View From The Cellar

Elegant black forest berry confit, hints of ripe currant and dark cherry, and subtle noble wood spice underlain with candied orange zest and tobacco nuances. Full-bodied and very elegant and round, with fine, rich extract; showing heart cherry notes and ripe, integrated tannins, this is mineral and persistent, and still very fresh and youthful; this will continue to improve with years of aging in the bottle; this wine has class." 95 Falstaff Magazin, Aug 2020

Ken Wright Cellars Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, Oregon

Shaped by millions of years of plate subduction and volcanic activity, Oregon’s Willamette Valley is one of the premier Pinot noir producing areas in the world. The Willamette Valley AVA was established in 1983, with the initial vineyard plantings beginning in 1966. This 100-mile long, 60-mile wide valley stretches between the Columbia River in the north, to just south of Eugene with the Oregon Coast Range in the west and the Cascade Mountains in the East. Due to the protection of the mountains on eastern and western boundaries, the Willamette Valley is a cooler climate region that provides for a long, gentle growing season, perfect for deliciously complex Pinot noir.  Our crop level averaged just under three tons this year which was perfect for the accumulated heat we experienced over the growing season. Disease was nonexistent with the dry conditions of the summer months and the fermentation's proceeded perfectly with nary a one going "sideways" on us. The 2021 wines are rich, expressive, detailed and deeply colored. Winery Notes

Anthill Farms Chardonnay Peugh Vineyard 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Russian River Valley, California

"Matured in about 20% new French Stockinger barrels, the 2020 Chardonnay Peugh has delicate aromas of lemon peel, Greek yogurt and crushed stone. The medium-bodied palate offers much more than the nose at this stage, with generous, aromatic fruits, an expansive, satiny texture and a balance of honeyed bass tones, with top notes of tangerine and lime peel on the very long, energetic finish." 95 Erin Brooks, The Wine Advocate

Domaine de la Taille aux Loups (Jacky Blot) Montlouis Sur Loire Clos Mosny 2020, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Montlouis, Loire

"The rich and concentrated but still youthful 2020 Clos de Mosny has complex aromas of butter, honey and vanilla and is richly textured with a seamless balance. It has the potential to age for at least two decades. More than 30 years after starting from modest means, Jacky and Joëlle Blot have established the Domaine de la Taille aux Loups in Moutlouis as one of the great Loire domaines. Their son Jean-Philippe is now increasingly taking over the running of the domaine. Jacky’s passion is dry white Chenin vinified in barriques, with no residual sugar and no malolactic fermentation. Increasingly the accent is on single vineyard wines with their own character – wines of great purity that age brilliantly. Starting in the late 1980s with 7ha, the domaine now has more than 60ha mainly in Montlouis but with two parcels in Vouvray. The latest substantial acquisition was the Clos de Mosny, a 12ha, walled, south-facing vineyard in the southern part of the appellation, in autumn 2010.” 96 Decanter

de Forville Barbaresco 2018, 0.75L

Charles Joguet Chinon Clos de la Dioterie 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc from Chinon, Loire

"The 2018 Chinon Clos de la Dioterie is richly fruited, reflecting the warmth of the vintage, and soft and mouth-filling despite not being heavy. There's baked fruit here, suggesting a combination of black currant, red cherry, cedar and spice. The tannins are structured and textured, showing this wine's intent, but it's all very well handled – those tannins are both resolved and incredibly chalky. This is a lengthy, serious wine with sinew. The vintage might be evident in the high alcohol and warm profile, but the class of the site is also indisputable. Follin Arbelet Aloxe Corton Les Vercots 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Aloxe Corton, Burgundy

"Notes of cassis, plums, dark chocolate and warm spices introduce the 2019 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Vercots, a medium to full-bodied, deep and textural wine that's rich and concentrated, underpinned by powdery tannins and lively acids." 91-93 William Kelley, Wine Advocate

"A more deeply pitched nose reveals notes of roasted plum, spice, newly turned earth and an abundance of sauvage character. There is impressive intensity to the delicious and vibrant if not especially dense middle weight flavors that culminate in a complex, rustic and serious finish that is built to repay extended cellaring. This is worth considering . . ." 90-93 Allen Meadows, Burghound

Veuve Fourny et Fils Brut Rose NV, 0.75L

Unlike the Blanc Premier Crus in this range, the Rosé has more body and textural intensity, all of which make for an absolutely compelling wine. I love the vinous intensity here. Cantalapiedra Viticultores Majuelo La Otea Pie Franco 2018, 0.75L
Verdejo from Castilla y León, Castilla y León

"I love the 2018 Majuelo La Otea a very Burgundian expression of Verdejo from a vineyard planted ungrafted some 150 (!) years ago. It has a yeasty and flinty nose, quite unusual and personal, ripe without excess, expressive, fresh and balanced. The palate has a chalky texture and reveals rich and deep flavors and great freshness but doesn't lack ripeness. It's super tasty. The clusters were pressed and the juice put to ferment in 600-liter French oak barrels after letting it settle for 12 hours. It fermented very slowly until January 2020, the first 12 months in barrel and the following 11 in stainless steel. It was bottled unfiltered into 2,160 bottles and 30 magnums in August 2020. Bravo!" 94 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Jean-Marc Bouley Volnay Clos de la Cave 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Burgundy

"The 2018 Volnay Clos de la Cave is showing beautifully in bottle, and Bouley observes that the fact that—despite its prime exposition—this site is in the shade by around 6 p.m. every evening complements its calcium-rich soils to lend it a notably ethereal profile. Wafting from the glass with scents of sweet berries, peonies, mandarin rind, raw cocoa and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and perfumed, with a bright spine of acidity, refined tannins and a lively, mineral finish." 92 William Kelley, Wine Advocate

"A cooler and airier nose is comprised primarily by various red berry scents, and in particular cherry, along with hints of violet and lilac. The racy and chiseled flavors seem to be poised on a base of wet stone that really comes to the fore on the linear and tightly wound finish. Even so I suspect this will blossom relatively quickly." 89-91 Allen Meadows, Burghound

Camille Giroud Vosne Romanee Les Chalandins 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Vosne Romanee, Burgundy

"Glowing red purple. Three ages of fruit but the oldest is 35 years and a great Pinot selection. Brilliant nose, perfumed cherries, just perfectly judged ripeness, a little touch of spice and clove from the barrel but the overall impression is of gloriously harmonious ripe and classy fruit. 45% whole bunch was used but does not show at all. Actually, this cuvée has been a highlight of the Camille Giroud cellar for the past 15 years." 92-94 Jasper Morris MW

"The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Chalandins offers brambly red berry fruit mixed with rose petal and damp earthy notes on the slightly muted nose. The medium-bodied palate features red cherries mixed with orange peel and apricot. This is cohesive and poised, the 50% whole bunch nicely enmeshed on the finish. Excellent." 90-92 Neal Martin, Vinous

"There is plenty of classic Vosne spice nuances present on the aromas of red raspberry, sandalwood, Asian-style tea and a hint of hoisin. The finer if perhaps not quite as voluminous or precise displays a highly beguiling texture, all wrapped in a firmer and more complex finale. This is very good and worth checking out plus it could be enjoyed on the younger side if desired." 89-91 Allen Meadows, Burghound

North Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, Oregon

"North Valley Pinot Noir sees less new oak than the flagship wines. It is made in a more accessible and versatile format that will give pleasure early and over the medium term. The wine features notes of orange blossoms,
cranberries, blackberries, sweet cream, cocoa, minerals, and has a markedly silky and supple mouthfeel. Long and lush, the wine leaves big, thick tears in the glass and its soft entry invites sip after sip. El Viejo Almacen Huaso de Sauzal Chilena Pais 2016, 0.75L
Pais from Cauquenes, Valle del Maule

“The star here is the País, which he calls 2016 Huaso de Sauzal Chilena, from grapes picked later than usual, as there was rain during March and April. All of the wines here ferment in traditional raulí wood casks. The vines are extremely old—they don't know how old—ungrafted and head-pruned in the Secano Interior traditional zone of Chile, where viticulture was without irrigation. It ferments with indigenous yeasts, without temperature control or any intervention, and the wine matures in well-seasoned, neutral oak barrels for 12 months before bottling. It's an aromatic and delicious País, with great perfume and character, mixing flowers and herbs, some spices and an earthy nuance with a volatile touch. The variety has some rustic tannins that need some food. This is possibly the best Chilena from Cancino so far. This is always among my favorite País from Chile. 11,000 bottles produced. Like the rest of the 2016s, it was bottled in February 2017. I met with Renán Cancino, the man behind El Viejo Almacén de Sauzal, in Madrid to taste the 2016s, as he was on a trip to Europe. He works nine hectares of old vines in Sauzal and Truquilemu in Maule that are planted with Cariñena, Garnacha and País. He produces some 22,000 bottles per vintage. 2016 was a rainy year, with moderate yields, good concentration, lower alcohol and very good acidity—wines with nice balance. Great wines with the peasant character of the place. The País, which he calls Chilena, is among the best in the country.” 93+ Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Louis Claude Desvignes Morgon Javernieres 2020, 0.75L
Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais

"The 2020 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières is brilliant, unwinding in the glass with aromas of wild berries, spices, rose petals, loamy soil and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with impressive reserves of ripe tannin and sapid fruit, it's seamless and lively, concluding with a long, resonant finish. As ever, this is built to age, and it will reward patience, even if its youthful charms are considerable." 94+ Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

"Interestingly, the 2020 Javernières is a full point lower in listed octane than the Côte du Py in this vintage, coming in at 13.5 percent alcohol. These vines are forty years of age and planted in the vineyard’s deeper, clay and iron-veined soils. The bouquet is truly stunning this year, offering up complexity, purity and a subtle sense of sappiness that is bound to grow as the wine blossoms. It delivers scents of red and black cherries, pomegranate, a touch of red plum, gamebird, woodsmoke, a complex base of soil tones and delicate topnote of fresh thyme. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and full, with a great core of fruit, superb soil undertow, excellent complexity, ripe, fine-grained tannins and a long, tangy and perfectly focused finish. This is a young wine, but so beautifully balanced that it is already very tasty, though the structure starts to build a bit on the backend with extended air. Ten years down the road this wine will really be reaching its apogee of peak drinkability, but it seems likely that it will be too tempting in its youth to not see many bottles gobbled down in the coming few years. Great young Morgon." 94+ John Gilman

Marguet Ambonnay Grand Cru Extra Brut Rose 2014, 0.75L
Chardonnay / Pinot Noir from Champagne, Champagne

"Benoît Marguet makes a series of “village-named” bottlings, with some made from purchased fruit (such as his Mesnil cuvée) and others from his own, estate vineyards, as is the case with this brilliant bottle of vintage Rosé. The wine is comprised of a cépages of eighty-one percent chardonnay and nineteen percent pinot noir and was disgorged in March of 2019. The wine is simply stunning on the nose, soaring from the glass in a mix of melon, white cherries, tangerine, chalky soil tones, a touch of caraway seed, dried flowers and just a hint of the smokiness that will come with further bottle age. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and shows off gorgeous mid-palate depth, with seamless balance, pinpoint bubbles and stunning length and grip on the complex and utterly refined finish. This is the best vintage-dated Rosé I have tasted from Monsieur Marguet since the exquisite 2009 version! Do not miss it! (Drink between 2019-2050)" 95 Points, John Gillman, View from the Cellar

Marguet Champagne 1er Cru Brut Nature Sapience 2011, 0.75L
Chardonnay / Pinot Meunier / Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims, Champagne

"The 2011 Marguet “Sapience” is a brilliant young wine that completely transcends the general quality of the vintage, as this was one of the more difficult growing seasons in recent Champagne history. But, no matter for the 2011 Sapience, which is utterly stunning! The cépages is fifty percent chardonnay and twenty-five percent each of pinot noir and pinot meunier, with the wine having been disgorged in July of 2021 after nine years aging sur latte. The bouquet is simply beautiful, offering up an exotic blend of passion fruit, fresh apricot, patissière, a touch of toasted almond, a gorgeous base of soil tones, dried flowers and a very gentle framing of buttery oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and stunningly precise, with a great core, excellent mineral undertow and cut, refined mousse and a great length and grip on the poised, perfectly balanced and very complex finish. Tarlant BAM! Brut Nature NV, 0.75L
Pinot Blanc / Arbanne / Petit Meslier from Oeuilly, Champagne

"The NV Brut Nature BAM!, Tarlant’s Pinot Blanc, Arbanne and Petit Meslier blend, is terrific. It offers notable energy and tension, with lovely complexity from the perpetual reserve that is used to complement the base vintage .... Lemon confit, marzipan, dried flowers, tangerine oil and lightly honeyed notes linger nicely, with a whole range of bright saline accents that lend further energy and focus. This release is terrific." 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"I love Benoît and Mélanie Tarlant’s BAM bottling, which takes its name from its cépages of Pinot Blanc, Arbanne and Petit Meslier .... The wine offers up a beautifully complex bouquet of white peach, hazelnut, brioche, a complex base of chalky soil tones, a hint of buttery oak and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and impeccably balanced, with a superb core, very refined mousse, lovely focus and a long, complex finish. As I have said before, with extended aging on the fine lees de rigeur for all of the Tarlant bottlings, the acids have mellowed nicely prior to the wine’s release and the lack of dosage is hardly an issue here like it can be with so many other examples of Brut Nature, which are simply too young and snappy when hitting the market to provide drinking pleasure beyond the circle of non-dosé purists." 93 John Gilman, View From The Cellar

"Fun aromas of dried green mangos and green apples with ginger. Full-bodied with zippy acidity and a long, intense finish. Lots of dried fruit. Spiced pear, too. Really attractive and delicious. Guimaro Finca Meixeman Ribeira Sacra 2019, 0.75L
Mencia / Brancellao / Merenzao / Garnacha / Mouratón / Negreda / Sousón from Ribeira Sacra, Galicia

"The single-vineyard 2019 Finca Meixeman comes from one of their oldest vineyards, planted with a field blend of 80% Mencía and 20% Brancellao, Merenzao, Garnacha, Mouratón, Negreda and Sousón. It has an austere nose that benefitted from being in the glass for over one hour, so decanting in advance might be a good idea if you are going to pull the cork any time soon. It has subtle notes of violets and wild berries and herbs. It has 13% alcohol but, despite that, feels a little riper than the other 2019s, perhaps more approachable and gourmand. Guimaro Ribeira Sacra A Ponte 2019, 0.75L
Mencia from Ribeira Sacra, Galicia

"The single-vineyard 2019 A Ponte was produced with grapes from vines planted in 2010, a vineyard that used to belong to the Guímaro family a long time ago that they had to buy again and replant. It's a blend of 30% Mencía and similar parts of Caíño, Merenzao, Brancellao and Sousón. All the grapes fermented together with 100% full clusters in closed troncoconic vats with a 50-day total maceration time and always matured in 500-liter barrels. It has less color and is rather light and ethereal compared to its siblings. All the 2019s are more closed than the 2020s, and the wines are more austere and, in general, have more depth and balance, with lower alcohol. This has 13% and a subtle nose of wild flowers and herbs, nuanced and complex. This is superb for such young vines. 4,000 bottles produced. Luis A. Rodriguez Vazquez Vina de Martin Escolma Blanco 2015, 0.75L
Treixadura / Albariño / Lado / Torrontés from Ribeiro, Galicia

"The current vintage of the top of the range in white is the 2015 Viña de Martín Escolma Blanco. Luis Anxo talks about a very good vintage, and he's always quite prudent and humble, which means the vintage was no less than excellent, with perfect weather that allowed picking each plot of white at the right time and the red ripened properly. Here, he wants to express "our way of understanding wine: ancestral varieties and lands, manual and respectful viticulture, forcing low yields, minimal intervention and a relatively long time in the cellar. We want a complex wine, but direct and intimate." This is a blend of Treixadura Albariño, Lado and Torrontés from his oldest vineyards on poor soils that deliver one kilo per plant. Each plot ferments separately with indigenous yeasts in new or semi-new 300-, 500- or 600-liter oak barrels, where the wine is kept with lees for one year, then blended and bottled. It's kept three years in bottle and sold the November four years after the harvest. This is a quiet and serious wine, like its creator, subtle, elegant and nuanced. It has notes of herbs and spices, pollen and beeswax. This is a super balanced vintage, with ripeness, concentration, freshness and elegance in a rare combination. This feels very young and seems to be evolving at a very slow pace and should make old bones. I've had wines from Luis Anxo close to 30 years old, and they are still going strong, so my drinking window is very conservative. 4,800 bottles and 200 magnums were filled in December 2016." 95 Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Fattorie Romeo del Castello Vigo Etna Rosso 2016, 0.75L
Nerello Mascalese from Etna, Sicily

"The top wine from Fattorie Romeo del Castello is its 2016 Etna Rosso Vigo, and this bottle is held back for two more years of aging before its commercial release. There is a lot of fluid complexity and depth here, and new sides of the wine come into view with each swirl of the glass. The organic wine is fresh and tonic with interchanging aromas of wild rose, blue flower, cassis and dried herb. The mineral nuance and the wine's dryness are downplayed in the 2016 vintage. Instead, it offers substantial fruit weight and extra volume that builds the fruity, or more buoyant, aromatic profile of this terrific red. If this offering of 3,400 bottles were a stock, any good analyst would put it down as a strong buy." 96 Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Eduardo Torres Acosta IGT Rosso Arenaria 2019, 0.75L
Nerello Mascalese from Terre Siciliane, Sicily

"The 2019 Nerello Mascalese Arenaria lifts from the glass with a dazzling bouquet of incense, dried violets, spiced tangerine and cherry pits. This is silky-smooth and elegant, with depths of red berries laced with lavender under an air of blue and purple florals. Tannins slowly build, creating a structured finish; yet there’s a pleasant inner sweetness that lingers and keeps me looking back to the glass. The 2019 Arenaria is simply stunning, and to think that this is the first vintage. This is from a half-hectare, north-facing parcel, just outside of the Etna zone, on Mt. Portella at 700 meters. However, the soils aren’t volcanic, but instead sub-marine sandstone with clay and quartz. Andrew Will Proprietary Red Ciel du Cheval 2017, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from Red Mountain, Washington

"Weighing in at 14.8% alcohol, the 2017 Red Wine Ciel du Cheval blends equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc from this outstanding site on Red Mountain. On the nose, it develops creosote tones alongside red florals, wintergreen, cigar ash and suggestions of Asian spices that all take shape in the glass. The palate is seamless and soft, delivering rich red and dark fruit flavors alongside black licorice and a hint of menthol. Glorious to consume now, the 2017 Ciel du Cheval could easily be a 20-year wine." 95 Owen Bargreen, Vinous

"Dark ruby in color, the 2017 Ciel du Cheval Vineyard is dark-fruited with juicy black plum, blackberry essence and dark cherry with hints of currants and cassis. Soft aromas of red flowers and pencil shavings waft with a dusty tension. Medium to full-bodied, the wine shows precision with an elegant frame and sturdy tannins, ending with a long-lingering, mineral finish with high-tone red fruits of dark, dusty cherry skin and red plum skin. This will drink fantastically for the next decade, but it won't do you wrong if you open a bottle tomorrow. Bravo!" 94 Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate

Tatomer Gruner Veltliner Paragon 2020, 0.75L
Grüner Veltliner from Santa Barbara County, California

"The 2020 Grüner Veltliner Paragon stands out because its distinctly savory, phenolic personality. Dried apricot, sage, menthol and earthy undertones all run through the 2020. At times the Paragon almost feels like a red wine, such is its presence and overall feel. I was blown away by the wines I tasted with Grahama Tatomer this year. Tatomer has thoughtfully expanded his range over the last few years. At the same time, he has become more selective about what goes into the vineyard designate whites, choosing to use the rest for his entry-level Hinter der Mauer, which is easily one of the very finest values in all of Santa Barbara. Tatomer has acquired a reputation as a Riesling specialist in California, indeed he is one of the variety’s foremost exponents, but he is every bit as skilled with Pinot Noir. These new releases are superb across the board." 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Cobb Chardonnay Doc's Ranch Joann's Block 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Sonoma Coast, California

"The 2018 Chardonnay Doc's Ranch: JoAnn's Block is a very distinctive wine. Dried flowers, mint, sage, chamomile, apricot, crushed rocks and almond are nicely layered. The 2018 is intensely mineral and savory, while the fruit is very much pushed into the background." 93 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"Medium ruby, the 2019 Pinot Noir Coastlands Vineyard Old Firs Block has singular scents of conifer, wilted lilac, orange peel and crushed cranberries, with accents of lemon peel and black tea leaves. The palate offers ultra perfumed, delicately styled strawberry and raspberry fruits, a fine, dusty texture, seamless freshness and a long, spicy finish. Cobb Pinot Noir Rice-Spivak Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast, California

"The 2019 Pinot Noir Rice Spivak Vineyard was made with about 40% whole clusters and matured for 22 months in 40% new French oak. It has a medium ruby color and pure aromas of cranberries, raspberries and rhubarb—those dark red fruit characteristics of Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir in the 2019 vintage—plus accents of orange peel, Angostura bitters, moss and forest floor. The medium-bodied palate manages a slender frame and very intense flavors, supported by an abundance of silty tannins and juicy acidity driving the very long, very layered finish." 97 Points, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate

Broadley Vineyards Pinot Noir Estate Jessica 2017, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, Oregon

"Brilliant red. Ripe red fruit, floral, spice and sassafras aromas show sharp definition and take on a smoky aspect as the wine opens up. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering concentrated yet lithe cherry cola and raspberry flavors that spread out steadily through the midpalate. Finishes very long and spicy, with a repeating floral note and strong, spicy lift. One-third new French oak. (Drink between 2022-2029)" 93 Points, Josh Raynolds, Vinous

Cuevas de Arom Tuca Negra Campo de Borja 2016, 0.75L
Grenache from Campo de Borja, Aragon

“The new top-of-the-range 2016 Tuca Negra Garnacha has a round palate with fleshy tannins and feels nicely balanced, even if the alcohol is on the higher side. Those white soils seem to impart a special elegance and freshness in the wines. The oak is nicely integrated and seems to have the balance and components for positive developments in the bottle. It has a saline twist in the finish that makes it very tasty. Only 953 bottles were filled in July 2018.” 94 Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Bodega Mustiguillo Pago El Terrerazo Finca Terrerazo 2019, 0.75L
Bobal from El Terrerazo, Valencia

"... Fermented in 3,500- and 5,000-liter oak vats with indigenous yeasts and a soft extraction, and it had an élevage in those containers of 18 months. There is a step up in precision here, quite noticeable when tasting it next to the 2018. It's subtle, elegant and insinuating. It was a very good vintage for this wine. In 2018, the vineyards suffered from hail, and the wine shows more clarity here, it's more transparent and pure, it has symmetry and very fine tannins. This has to be the finest Finca Terrerazo so far. 29,360 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2021. They never stop at Mustiguillo." 94+, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Descendientes de Palacios Corullon Bierzo 2020, 0.75L
Mencia from Bierzo, Bierzo

"I was blown away by the 2020 wines in barrel in June 2021 and found the 2020 Villa de Corullón very ready, open, expressive, floral and ethereal. It destroyed the idea I had of a warm and ripe 2020. Ricardo Pérez Palacios told me he was thinking of bottling the 2020s earlier, as they didn't need a long élevage, just nine or 10 months in barrel. The wine is pale, the palest Corullón ever, with 13.7% alcohol—perhaps the vines got blocked and didn't develop more color compounds or sugar. The wine makes me think of a red from Jura; it has a different profile and is more delicate, ethereal and full of light and energy. Pérez, who hates comparisons with other regions, couldn't stop saying that it felt like a Morey Saint Denis! It's all flowers and red fruit, with a lot of super fine tannins (the 2019 tannins are rougher) that are round and give it a velvety texture with no rusticity—elegant and balanced. There is a nice balance between tannin and acidity, something this has in common with the 2019, which makes the vintages quite unusual, because being warm, the wines show balance. Today, it feels more like Moncerbal than the Moncerbal bottling; nevertheless, Corullón is around 40% from Moncerbal. ... It has to be my favorite Corullón to date. 22,183 bottles and some larger formats produced. It was bottled in October 2021." 97 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Jean-Philippe Fichet Meursault Le Tesson 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Meursault, Burgundy

"Here too there is a spicy character to the more floral if less citrusy aromas of essence of pear, apple and passion fruit. The equally elegant and pure medium-bodied flavors that possess more concentration and power on the gorgeously textured and impressively lengthy finale. This wonderfully stylish effort often rivals the Referts in quality and it appears that it will do the same in 2020. Excellent." 91-93 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Fichet Meursault Chevalieres 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Meursault, Burgundy

"The 2020 Meursault Les Chevalières has a reserved but focused nose, requiring some coaxing but delivering satisfying citrus peel and light lemon thyme aromas. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut and fresh with impressive weight and persistence on the finish, hints of lemon sherbet on the aftertaste. Excellent. (Drink between 2023-2035)"91-93 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

"Cool and airy aromas of mineral reduction, citrus and a floral whiff are trimmed in admirably discreet wood influence. There is both good richness and intense to the ultra-pure, even crystalline, flavors that conclude in a chiseled, long and balanced finale. This is a classic Chevalières with its almost aggressive minerality and refined mouthfeel. In a word, lovely." 90-92 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine Huet Vouvray Le Mont Sec 2021, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Vouvray, Loire

This 2021 Le Mont Sec fills the mouth with pear, pineapple, nectarine and violet flavors. There's a sense of seduction and succulence through the middle of this wine. The flint and the coolness of the site seem to bring a sense of tension and purpose through this wine, which seduces you then spits you out. Delightful fragrance and a mouthwatering, racy finish. 96 Points, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous

Bodegas Olivares Altos de la Hoya Monastrell 2020, 0.75L
Mourvedre from Jumilla, Murcia

"I was less taken by the oak in the 2020 Altos de la Hoya, produced in a more commercial and mainstream way from ungrafted old Monastrell vines. But there's good fruit and depth here, a medium to full-bodied palate and fine-grained tannins, and the wine has the stuffing and balance to overcome the creamy oak with some more time in bottle. It matured in a mixture of oak vats and barrels for some six to eight months." 90+ Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Alegre Valgañón Rioja Tinto 2020, 0.75L
Tempranillo / Grenache from Rioja, La Rioja

"The house red 2020 Tinto showed superbly. It's a blend of Tempranillo from the Obarenes Mountains (Sajazarra and Fonzaleche) with 20% Garnacha from Cárdenas on clay and some 5% white that has 14.2% alcohol but feels perfectly balanced and integrated. It has a serious, harmonious nose with complexity and depth but also youth. It has a soft and juicy texture with focused and clean flavors, finishing with an almost salty twist. Super tasty and easy to drink! Great value too. It matured in a mixture of 1,000- and 3,000-liter oak foudres and 225- and 500-liter barrels. 22,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2022." 93+ Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Henri & Gilles Buisson St.-Romain La Perriere 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Saint-Romain, Burgundy

"The 2020 Saint-Romain Perrières has the most mineral-driven bouquet, articulating its limestone soils with aplomb, hints of tropical fruit popping their heads up with time. The palate is taut and fresh, wonderful umami here with the mouth tingling on the aftertaste. Excellent." 93 Neal Martin, Vinous

"A wine which did not need to be fined and has been in bottle since September. Pale lemon colour, a fresh bouquet without to much detail at this stage, very crisp, some citrus, extremely long, a wine with considerable promise. Very concentrated finish." 92 Jasper Morris MW

"The 2017 Mercurey 1er Cru Les Veleys burst from the glass with aromas of violets, smoky blackberries, licorice and grilled meats.
