Domaine Michel Juillot Mercurey Clos des Barraults 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Mercurey, Burgundy

"Markedly anise-suffused aromas of poached plum, dark pinot fruit and discreet spice wisps are framed by moderately generous wood and menthol character. The supple, round and fleshy yet solidly punchy flavors possess a lovely mid-palate texture along with a trace of minerality on the ever-so-mildly warm finale that is sneaky long. This isn't quite as complex but as the Champs Martin but it's a quality effort all the same." 90 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine Les Pallieres Racines 2019, 0.75L

"This shows the greatness that Gigondas is capable of. A huge wine, but with great structure and aromatic complexity that takes your breath away. Big black fruit, but so many herbal and savory nuances, then comes the long, smoky and meaty finish. Excellent aging potential. A blend of 80% Grenache, 8% Syrah, 7% Cinsault and 5% Clairette." 96 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

Jean Foillard Beaujolais-Villages 2019, 0.75L
Gamay from Beaujolais Villages, Beaujolais

"Brilliant violet. Incisive, mineral-accented cherry and black raspberry aromas are complemented by suggestions of pungent flowers and allspice. Sappy and focused on the palate, offering bitter cherry and dark berry flavors that deepen slowly and become sweeter with air. The mineral note repeats on a very long, smooth finish shaped by fine-grained, even tannins."  92 Points, Josh Raynolds, Vinous

Chateau Thivin Beaujolais-Villages Rosé 2021, 0.75L
Gamay from Beaujolais-Villages, Beaujolais

Hand-picking This Gamay noir rosé comes from direct pressing after a few hours’ maceration so that the juice takes on a slight coloration; it is then vinified like a white wine in stainless vats and at low temperature. Delicate aromas of fresh fruits and slight acidity make this a harmonious, delicate wine for the Summer which will go wonderfully well with mixed salads and grilled meats to enjoy a good time in the shade of a gazebo with a few olives. Winery Notes

Famille Savary Chablis 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

Subtle and delicate nose opening on gleams of a true Chablis minerality. A bit of breathing confirms this limestony impression blending into notes of pear and apple where a delicate hint of fresh almond appears. The mouth makes you feel you are experiencing a richer, more intense personality where the complexity of the terroir is bringing some relief to the tasting. The limestone supports every second of the tasting and brings its unmistakeable profile until the very last perceivable notes on a beautiful finale. A mineral Chablis with intensity and freshness that truly ressembles what a great Chablis with a limestone terroir can and should offer. Producer Notes

L`Aventure Optimus 2019, 0.75L
Syrah / Cabernet Sauvignon / Petit Verdot from California, California

"Extremely aromatic with ripe cherry and berry aromas, as well as flowers and citrus. Medium to full body with fine, polished tannins and a long, caressing finish. This is really well done and one of the most balanced L’Aventures I have encountered. Syrah, cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot. Drinkable now, but better in two or three years."  96 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

Quintus 2021, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Malbec from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"Extremely focused and refined, with firm tannins that run the length of the wine. Medium-bodied with lovely length and juiciness. Blackberry and earth with mushroom and bark. Hints of orange peel, too. 68.2% merlot, 31.3% Cabernet Franc and 0.5% Malbec." 94-95 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

The 2021 Quintus shows considerable promise, displaying more concentration and character than the 2017, combined with appreciably lower alcohol than intervening vintages. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, plums, loamy soil, raw cocoa and a deft framing of new oak, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, with good concentration and a seamless, complete profile. It's a blend of around 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc from the limestone slopes. 92-94 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

This charming, sensual rendition of La Mission is a blend of 48% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Cabernet Franc, attaining 13.4% alcohol." 94-96 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Haut-Brion 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux

"A candidate for the title of wine of the vintage, the 2021 Haut-Brion unwinds in the glass with aromas of rich red and black fruit mingled with notions of cigar wrapper, licorice, black truffles, loamy soil and burning embers. Full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's elegant and multidimensional, with superb depth at the core, lively acids and ultra-refined tannins. Combining the classical proportions of the vintages of two decades ago with the viticultural and winemaking of today, it's a timeless classic in the making, but it's difficult to find an obvious analogy with an older vintage. When pressed, Jean-Philippe Delmas suggests a superior version of the 2014 vintage, and to me, a more concentrated, serious version of the 2012 vintage also comes to mind. What is clear, however, is that this is one of the real high points of 2021. The blend is 50% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Cabernet Franc, and it attained 13.8% alcohol—a percentage point or so lower than in 2020 or 2019." 96-98 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc 2021, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux

"The 2021 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc has a much more nuanced bouquet  then the Haut-Brion Blanc this year with scents of Japanese yuzu, crushed stone, apple blossom and a touch of elderflower. The palate is very well balanced with a fine line of acidity, taut and fresh, vibrant and focused. This in more linear then the Haut-Brion and stricter, yet the precision on the finish is a wonder to behold. Fabulous." 95-97 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

Aromas of crisp orchard fruit, grapefruit oil, white flowers, pastry cream and freshly baked bread preface the 2021 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, a medium to full-bodied, ample and incisive wine that's satiny and chiseled, concluding with a long, mineral finish. 93-95 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Haut-Brion Blanc 2021, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux

"The 2021 Haut-Brion Blanc has a wonderful bouquet of white peach, yellow plum, kumquat and white flower scents that opens that opens beautifully in the glass, displaying lovely definition. The palate is very well balanced with a killer line of acidity that perfectly counterbalances the intense citrus fruit. Razor sharp, more than any other vintage I have tasted in recent years. I often think that this is overrated en primeur, but the 2021 is undeniably a show stopping Haut=Brion Blanc. 96-98 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

The 2021 Haut-Brion Blanc also shows considerable promise, offering up aromas of pink grapefruit, nectarine and crisp orchard fruits mingled with notions of freshly baked bread, pastry cream and beeswax. Full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, it's satiny and seamless, with a broader-shoulders, more muscular profile than La Mission's white but similarly vibrant acids. At this early stage, this would appear to be one of the two or three finest Haut-Brion whites of the last 20 years. 94-96+ Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Chateau Montelena Chardonnay 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Napa Valley, California

"I remember standing at the press as the first squeeze from our first lot of Chardonnay in 2019 began to trickle into the pan…and thinking WOW. Even at 6am and at that stage – cold juice scarcely 2 hours removed from the vine – it was clear that the potential for an effusive, rich, complex wine was there. The excitement lasted scarcely 10 seconds before it was time to get to work; time to envision, time to make (irreversible) decisions, and time to act. Seeing the potential, the mosaic in our minds, is one thing. Being naturally curious and receptive to new, creative ideas is another. But it’s in the translation, the execution, and the eventual realization of what’s finally in the glass that’s the greatest challenge yet ultimately the most gratifying." Winemaker Notes

Dunn Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvingon from Napa Valley, California

"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a gorgeous wine, especially for Dunn fans who want a wine to drink that won't take forever to come around. Dark and savory, with terrific depth, the 2018 is full of character. Black cherry, lavender, chocolate, sage, mint and cloves all open in the glass. The 2018 has just enough grip to have a good amount of classic structure, but not to the point of being forbidding. The Napa Cabernet is about 55% Howell Mountain and 45% Coombsville fruit. The 2018 is beautifully done and an absolute delight."94 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Cos d`Estournel 2018, 0.75L
from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

"An incredible wine from this estate that's as good as anything in the vintage, the 2018 Château Cos D'Estournel checks in as 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot that was brought up in 50% new French oak. While some 2018s are going to offer pleasure right out of the gate, this isn't one of them, but rather it's a backward, tannic powerhouse of a wine that has flawless balance as well as a level of purity that's off the charts. Thrilling crème de cassis fruit, notes of lead pencil, damp earth, cedarwood, violets, and acacia flowers, full-bodied richness, masses of ultra-fine tannins, and a great, great finish all make for a legendary Saint-Estèphe that will need a good decade of bottle age yet evolve for 50 years or more. If you are tempted to try a bottle in its youth, it needs lots of air."98+ Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

The 2018 Cos d'Estournel is a racy, powerful Saint-Estèphe that is going to need quite a bit of time to find its center. Today, it is tightly wound, but all the energy is there. Lush and extravagantly ripe, the 2018 possesses tremendous depth and plenty of energy to back it all up. Here, too, I found the wine a bit more expressive and giving en primeur. (Drink between 2028-2058) 98 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Pichon-Longueville Baron 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Pauillac, Bordeaux

"Blackcurrant, blueberry, violet and blackberry notes, as well as plenty of spices. Medium to full body with plenty of richness and blackcurrant and ink character. Tar and graphite, too. Precise and structured. Very Pichon Baron in nature here. 88% cabernet sauvignon."96-97 Points, James Suckling, JameSuckling.com

"The 2021 Pichon-Baron is a dense, packed wine, its mid-weight structure notwithstanding. There is a lot of wine here, but readers have to be patient. Red-toned fruit, blood orange, mint, rose petal and cinnamon add layers of nuance, but more than anything else, the 2021 stands out for its persistence." 95-97 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"A brilliant achievement, the 2021 Pichon-Longueville Baron opens in the glass with aromas of dark berries, blackcurrants, cigar wrapper, loamy soil, pencil shavings and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, it's concentrated and penetrating, with terrific concentration and a beautifully refined, classy profile. A blend of fully 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Merlot, it represents the wine this great estate could have produced in 1996. One of the real successes of the vintage, readers who overlook this wine will live to regret it." 94-96+ Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Pauillac, Bordeaux

Do you want the good news or the bad news first? Let's start with the good. The 2021 Pichon Comtesse is epic and certainly among the great wines of this vintage. Sadly, the coulure and mildew in the first year of organic farming plus dehydration at the end of the growing season took with it fully two thirds of the crop. In other words, there's not much wine to go around. Rich and sumptuous in the glass, yet clocking in at 12.9% alcohol, the 2021 is beautifully layered and totally sensual from the very first taste. Hints of red fruit, flowers, mint, white pepper and dried savory herbs develop with a bit of coaxing. The Cabernet Sauvignon, at 88%, is very high by historical standards. Quite simply, the 2021 is a tour de force from Technical Director Niclolas Glumineau and his team. If there is one wine readers will absolutely jump on en primeur it is Pichon Comtesse. Should the bottled wine turn out as well as this sample, pricing is likely to jump materially because of the tiny production. Don't miss it. 96-98 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

This estate is one of the most dynamic in contemporary Bordeaux, so it's no surprise that the 2021 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a terrific wine—though its a very atypical blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Merlot, cropped at a derisory 15 hectoliters per hectare, hints at what a challenging year this was in the vineyards. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of wild berries, blackcurrants, iris, licorice, black truffles, cigar wrapper and sweet soil tones, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, with beautifully refined tannins, lively acids and a supple but serious profile. It will see 60% new oak and, in all likelihood, a classical élevage of fully 18 months. 94-95+ Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

"A wine full of finesse and class with fantastic length and polish. Medium to full body with ultra-fine tannins that run endlessly down the length of the wine. Blackberry, graphite and spice. Agile and weightless." 96-97 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

A brilliant wine in the making, the 2021 Canon offers up aromas of cherries, wild berries, licorice, sweet soil tones, raw cocoa, Indian spices and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's immensely refined and seamless, with a lively spine of acidity, ripe tannins and a long, penetrating, intensely saline finish. Rauzan Segla 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaux, Bordeaux

"The 2021 Rauzan-Ségla is absolutely gorgeous. It offers up scents of graphite, savory herbs, licorice, chocolate and plum, all beautifully lifted by strong Cabernet Sauvignon inflections. Naturally, the 2021 doesn't have the mid-palate richness and overall intensity of recent years. Readers will find a tightly wound Margaux that balances classic structure with modern-day precision. I can't wait to see how it ages. Tasted four times."94-97 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Chateau Montrose 2021, 0.75L
from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

"A brilliant achievement, the 2021 Montrose is reminiscent of a purer, more precise, modern-day version of the estate's 1996. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of blackcurrants, pencil shavings, sweet loamy soil, black truffle and nicely integrated new oak, it's full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with terrific depth at the core, lively acids and a seamless, harmonious profile. Exhibiting beautifully refined tannins and an impressive sense of completeness, it's a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot—standing out as one of the few top wines of the vintage that actually includes more Merlot and less Cabernet than in recent years."94-96 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

"The 2021 Montrose is very clean and precise on the nose. You could almost describe it as clinical, crushed stone infusing the black fruit and briar. It is not as intense as the previous two vintages, which is to be expected, though the Cabernet Sauvignon is expressive. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit and fine acidity;a Montrose that is very tensile and focused. Moderate grip and volume this is a more slimline version of recent vintages, a reflection of the growing season..." 93-95 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

"The 2021 La Gaffelière is a wine of extraordinary finesse and class. Time in the glass brings out striking depth and complexity. The aromatics alone are beguiling but everything about the 2021 speaks to elegance. Crushed red berry fruit, rose pedals, blood orange, mint and saline notes punctuate the finish."95-97 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"The 2021 La Gaffelière was picked September 22 to October 15, and matured in 60% new French oak. There is a healthy 42% Cab Franc here. The nose is quite open with black cherry, blueberry and touches of violet and peony; the oak is nicely integrated. In the mouth this is medium-bodied with fine delineation, good focus and real mid palate weight. Conveying good intensity and vibrancy, this continues a strong run for this Saint-Émilion estate. 94-96 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

A very precise and curated wine with ultra-fine tannins that run the length of the wine. Medium body. Dark berry and dark chocolate flavors and a creamy finish. Classy. 94-95 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

Lafite Rothschild 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Pauillac, Bordeaux

"Polished and refined with a firm, fine and linear tannin structure. Harmonious. Perfumed violets, roses and subtle licorice. All in balance here, with precise layers of black fruit, minerals and pencil lead. Rather seamless. Firm, yet fine and sleek to the end. Very classy. Fine-velvet texture. 96% cabernet sauvignon, 3% merlot and 1% petit verdot." 97-98 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

"A brilliant wine that shares some similarities with the formidable 1996, the 2021 Lafite Rothschild wafts from the glass with inviting aromas of dark berries, cigar box, loamy soil, black truffle and violets. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, it's rich and concentrated, with beautifully powdery tannins, lively acids and a long, saline finish. Of course, this isn't as dramatic as the 2020 or 2019 out of the gates, but the 2021 is a brilliant success in its own right. What's more, its structure and balance mean that it is likely to prove almost immortal. It's a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, which is one of the all-time highest percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon chez Lafite." 95-97 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Lynch-Bages 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Pauillac, Bordeaux

The 2021 Lynch-Bages picked at 34L/ha and matured in 75% new oak for a planned 18 months, has an outstanding bouquet, beautifully-defined, and sensual, a mixture of black and blueberry fruit, very fragrant. The palatte is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, good body and density, quite precise with a tensile finish. This fans out nicely on the finish. A very classy Lynch Bages with echoes of Jean-Michel Cazes' classics from the late eighties. 15.14% alcohol. 94-96 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

The second vintage vinified in the Caze family's new winery, the 2021 Lynch-Bages unwinds in the glass with aromas of minty cassis, sweet berries, loamy soil, black truffle and cigar wrapper, framed by nicely integrated new oak. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and muscular, it's a serious, layered, powerful, youthfully structured wine that will come together beautifully withmaturation in barrel. 96-95 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Daniel Chotard Sancerre Rouge Le Chant de l'Archet 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sancerre, Loire

"Daniel Chotard and his wife, Brigitte, live just outside Sancerre in the village of Reigny. The Chotard family has been making wine for well over two hundred years, though Daniel was initially reluctant to accept the family vocation and started as a teacher. Daniel is a bit of a Renaissance man. His enthusiasm and passion for learning extends beyond wine and into music; he is a gifted guitarist and accordion player. He organizes lively music and wine soirées that showcase wine as an equally compelling art form to jazz. He has also invited Kermit to bring his rootsy band to perform in Sancerre—stay tuned for concert dates! In recent years, Daniel has passed the reins of the domaine on to his son Simon. The terroir of Sancerre is widely regarded as producing one of the greatest expressions of the Sauvignon Blanc grape. Sancerre was once more celebrated for its red wine, a Parisian bistro favorite. Simon grows Pinot Noir as well, used to make both red wine and rosé. The hilltop town of Sancerre is surrounded by a commune of villages that collectively make up its eponymous appellation, and each village is blessed with varieties of a distinct limestone that imbues a lengthy mineral component to its wines. He farms the slopes of the village Crézancy-en-Sancerre, where flint meets clay and the famous Kimmeridgian limestone. Simon practices sustainable farming, and uses organic composts to treat the vines. Typically, he harvests his grapes later than his neighbors, resulting in full-bodied wines with a rich complexity. He has also transitioned away from using cultured yeasts, fermenting every wine naturally—a rare feat in an appellation where technical winemaking is still the norm. Simon’s quest for a more authentic expression of terroir has led him to isolate certain parcels on the basis of soil, experimenting with different aging vessels in the cellar (demi-muids, acacia, foudres...) to find the best match. Like his father’s music, Simon’s wines are luscious and complex with deep notes and long, satisfying finales. Sancerre Rouge “Le Chant de l’Archer:" Average Vine Age, 55 years; Wine ages both in stainless steel (70%) and fûts (30% new, 300 to 500 liter barrels); fter aging 1 year in fûts, wine is transferred to stainless steel tank for 6 months before bottling" - Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant

Bodegas El Nido Clio 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Mourvèdre from Jumilla, Murcia

"Next to the 2018, I also tasted the 2019 Clio, a similar blend of 70% Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon from a vintage marked by torrential rains caused by the DANA storm in September that delivered 200+liters of rain. It fermented in stainless steel with neutral yeasts and matured in French and American oak barrels for 23 months. It's slightly lower in alcohol than the 2018, 15.5%. I think the Cabernet was more noticeable here and it added a certain freshness to the wine, which, coupled with a little less alcohol, made the wine come through as a little cooler and more continental. All within the Chris Ringland style, of course..." 93 Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Chateau Leoville-Barton 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Julien, Bordeaux

"A terrific success, the 2021 Léoville Barton unwinds in the glass with aromas of blackcurrant, wild berries and plums mingled with hints of pencil shavings, loamy soil and cigar wrapper. Medium to full-bodied, deep and seamless, it's concentrated and tensile, with beautifully refined tannins, lively acids and all the class that an elevated percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon growing in deep gravel can provide. It's the first vintage vinified in the Barton family's new winery, and I suspect that contributes to the ultra-refined quality of tannin this year. The blend is 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times"93-95 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Palmer 2021, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc from Margaux, Bordeaux

"The late-ripening, low-yielding vintage has delivered a beautifully balanced wine of striking intensity in the 2021 Palmer. Unwinding in the glass with complex aromas of blackberries, exotic spices, licorice, violets and burning embers, it's full-bodied, layered and enveloping, with a deep, concentrated core of fruit, ripe tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, expansive finish. If recent vintages of Palmer have set new records in their power and richness, the 2021 marks a return to the classical proportions of the 1990s—with all the additional concentration and precision that Thomas Douroux's pioneering viticulture and thoughtful winemaking have brought to the equation at this address in the interim. The grand vin is a blend of 56% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot, picked between September 24 and October 15. Tasted twice." 95-97 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

"Offering up wild, exotic aromas of blackberries, cloves and Indian spices mingled with notions of rose petal, bruised orchard fruit and cherry pit that evolve rapidly in the glass, the 2021 Pontet-Canet is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with a layered mid-palate and refined tannins that assert themselves on the firm, saline finish. Always one of the Médoc's most singular, idiosyncratic wines, it will be interesting to see how it performs in bottle." 91-93 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Leoville Las Cases 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Petit Verdot from St. Julien, Bordeaux

"One of the wines of the vintage, the 2021 Léoville Las Cases is reminiscent of a hypothetical blend of the 1999 and 1996—only better. Offering up incipiently complex aromas of cassis, plums and dark berries mingled with loamy soil, cigar wrapper and exotic spices, it's full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with superb amplitude and concentration, velvety tannins, lively acids and a long, penetrating finish. Uniting classicism and charm, it exemplifies how a great terroir, exigent agronomy and meticulous winemaking can deliver greatness even in a less propitious vintage. It's a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and a mere 5% Merlot this year, checking in at 13.2% alcohol."95-97 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Angelus 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc / Merlot from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"A brilliant wine that signposts this estate's evolution under Stéphanie de Boüard-Rivoal, the 2021 Angélus is a blend of 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Merlot, with fully half of the old-vine Cabernet Franc maturing in foudres rather than 225-liter barriques. The result is a wine of unprecedented purity and finesse, unwinding in the glass with compelling aromas of plums, raspberries, rose petals, vine smoke, blood orange and warm spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, deep and layered palate with a rich and fleshy core that entirely conceals its structuring chassis of ultra-refined tannins. Bright and sapid, it's striking for its integration and elegance at this early stage, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it upstage a number of more touted vintages once it's in bottle."94-96+ Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Grenache / Syrah / Cinsault / Counoise from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône

"Lastly, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Reserve is another magical wine, and I might have rated this cuvée a perfect score more than any other Southern Rhône. Unquestionably in the same realm as the 2017, 2016, 2010, 2005, 2003, and 2001, it has an incredible, full-bodied, massive style that somehow stays perfectly balanced, with flawless integration of its fruit, tannins, acidity, and alcohol. Lots of red, blue, and black fruits, loamy earth, Asian spice, licorice, and violet nuances emerge from the glass, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, building yet polished tannins, and a great, great finish. It’s a sexier, more opulent wine than the Les Hauts-Lieux release yet has the same perfect tannins that are so rare to find in the vintage. This required at least 4-5 years of bottle age and will drink brilliantly for 20-25+ years." 100 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

The wine, made from vines that are 15 years old on average, is vinified half in vats and half in barrels. It offers a floral expression of the Saint-Véran of this sector. Winery Notes

Saumaize-Michelin Pouilly-Fuissé Les Courtelongs 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Vergisson, Burgundy

"The 2019 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Courtelongs sports a very light reduction on the nose. Touches of struck match, lemon verbena and saffron emerge with time. The palate is smooth and slightly more viscous than the domaine’s other "19. It"s very pure with orange pith and peach, light spicy notes gathering pace towards the finish. With very good persistence, this should mature well in bottle." 92 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

Medium to full-bodied, layered and complete, it's satiny and seamless, with bright acids and a saline finish. Lagarde Primeras Vinas Malbec Luján de Cuyo 2018, 0.75L
Malbec from Mendoza, Mendoza

"The 2018 Primeras Viñas Malbec Luján de Cuyo displays a bright and dark ruby color and a very classical and balanced profile, reflecting a cooler year. The wine shows a bit tight and reticent, but there's phenomenal balance and perfectly integrated oak from a soft vinification and slow aging of 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels. It's varietal, elegant and with the depth and clout of the old vines (from 1906 and 1930)." 94 Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Ciacci Piccolomini d`Aragona Brunello di Montalcino 2017, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

"Aromas of cedar, berry, mushroom and burnt orange follow through to a full body with medium, chewy tannins and a fluid, flavorful finish. Not overdone." 93 Points, James Suckling, JamesSukling.com

"Generous, layered and rich, the Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona 2017 Brunello di Montalcino shows the generous fruit and deep layering that identifies this vintage . . . . This edition (with 69,000 bottles made) shows a bright note of sweet cherry that features strongly both on the bouquet and the palate. The wine shows lots of soft fruit with almond, spice and wild rose. From a hot and dry vintage . . . . The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona estate is located in a rather cool location with south-facing vines and well-draining galestro soils on the back side of Castelbuovo dell'Abate. I always like to think of this tiny hilltop hamlet as the place where the day's sunbeams shine in Montalcino before sunset. This estate is certified for organic farming. 93 Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

The Mascot Proprietary Red 2017, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"The Mascot began early on as an experiment, after talking the family and winemaking team into sparing a few barrels of wine—produced from our younger vines—to explore a blend of my own. In the first few years, before it had a label or a name, it was just a wine shared with friends and family. It wasn’t until the 2008 vintage, our first official release, that we had enough to share with new friends. This cabernet is a hedonistic blend of power and balance; expressive and approachable early in its life, with potential to evolve well into the future. Ready to drink upon release, it will age for decades given the opportunity." Winemaker Notes

Scar of the Sea Zinfandel Lopez Vineyard 2021, 0.75L
Zinfandel from Cucamonga Valley, California

Planted in 1918, 70 miles inland from Los Angeles and certified organic by CCOF, this vineyard is part of California history. Farmed today by the Galleano family, we are lucky to be able to make wine from this old vineyard. The vines are farmed without irrigation in granite rocks and sandy soil surrounded by freeways and track homes. This vineyard is one of the last reminders of an old California. This wine was picked on August 6th, fermented with native yeast and with 50% whole cluster. The grapes were basket pressed at dryness and then aged for 8 months in old French oak barrels before being bottled with minimal SO2 and without filtration. Winery Notes

Dried pear, chamomile, sage and almond notes all flesh out in an inviting, super-expressive white loaded with personality and class. Bodegas Hermanos Pecina Rioja Senorio de Pecina Crianza 2015, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Rioja Alta, La Rioja

"They are convinced at the winery that the 2015 Señorío de P. Peciña Crianza is the best Crianza they have ever produced, which is often the case with the current vintage for sale... But I must admit that the wine was very impressively balanced, nuanced and complex. It has freshness and is approachable enough while showing Rioja character and integrated oak to appeal to a wide audience. It's ripe without excess, coming through as juicy and tasty. It spent two years in used American oak barrels." 92 Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Bodegas Hermanos Pecina Rioja Senorio de Pecina Gran Reserva 2009, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Rioja Alta, La Rioja

"The creamy, spicy and smoky 2009 Señorío de P. Peciña Gran Reserva was produced following the classical way, aging it in used American oak barrels for a long time (48 months) instead of what they do in their Chobeo range, where the wines mature in new oak for a short time. This has the textbook aromas of classical Rioja in a warm and ripe year—graphite, forest floor, truffles, sweet spices and berries in liqueur. The palate is medium to full-bodied with some dusty tannins and good acidity that would welcome some food. 15,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2013." 93+, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Bodegas Hermanos Pecina Rioja Senorio de Pecina Reserva 2013, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Rioja Alta, La Rioja

"The 2013 Señorío de P. Peciña Reserva has freshness and elegance and a lot of characteristics of traditional Rioja. 2013 was a challenging year, but it also provided good conditions to produce fresher wines. This was produced with a soft vinification, not too extractive or long, with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and matured in used American oak barrels for three years with rackings every six months. It has the telltale aromas of spices and balsam (cigar ash, incense), wet forest floor and wild berries. The palate is sleek and polished, with resolved tannins and good acidity. It should drink nicely for a good five years and stay on a plateau of maturity for longer. 42,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2017." 92 Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advacate

Bodegas Hermanos Pecina Rioja Senorio de Pecina Cosecha 2019, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Rioja Alta, La Rioja

"The 2019 Rioja “Cosecha” from Bodegas Peciña is a lovely wine, with plenty of black fruit informing both the nose and the palate. The bouquet is bright and jumps from the glass in a mix of black cherries, dark berries, cigar smoke, just a touch of Rioja spice tones and a good base of soil. On the palate the wine is vibrant, full-bodied and tangy, with a fine core of ripe fruit, good focus and grip, moderate tannins and a long, well-balanced finish. This is still a young wine, but it is eminently drinkable already and will only get better with a bit of bottle age. This augurs extremely well for the Crianzas, Reservas and Gran Reservas we will see down the road from the 2019 vintage, as this wine is really excellent for its level! Raúl Pérez 'Ultreia La Claudina' Godello Bierzo 2020, 0.75L
Godello from Bierzo, Castilla y León

"They have lowered the alcohol and ripeness in most of the whites, but some vineyards are more difficult than others... The 2020 Ultreia La Claudina comes from a plot on sandy soils that needs higher ripeness to avoid excess bitterness. In 2020 it matured in 50% new barrels as they wanted to see how the wine behaved. It has power and consistence, but the style is a little different from what the wine was before, a little creamier and marked by the élevage. It's more exuberant and quite the opposite from the rectitude of La del Vivo. There are some 2,200 bottles from 1,700 liters of wine." 94 Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Ulysses Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, California

"Aromas of terra cotta, chocolate and hazelnut with iron and ink. Dusty. Full-bodied and round. Layered. Flamboyant and juicy. Rather soft and gorgeous. Some walnut and chocolate at the end. Persistent. Always there. Drinkable now, but will age wonderfully." 98 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is the best wine off Christian Moueix's Oakville ranch so far. Deep, creamy and generous, the 2018 captures the unqiue blend of fruit in a savoriness that is typical of the southern sector of Oakville where cooling winds from the south lend palpable freshness and vivacity to the vines. Black fruit, chocolate, spice, lavender and new leather are some of the many notes that build into the sumptuous finish. 97 Points, Antonio Galloni

Domaine De La Pepiere Muscadet Sevre et Maine Sur Lie La Pepie 2019, 0.75L
Melon de Bourgogne from Muscadet-Sèvre et Maine, Loire

"In 2016, Pépière's classic, earliest-release bottling saw an addition to the label, the "La Pépie" moniker, because of the necessity of adding non-estate fruit to the production (Pépière had 85% of their own crop devastated in 2016 due to mildew). It marks the first time the estate has purchased fruit.

It comes from neighboring parcels that match their terroirs and work philosophy. The wine is a combination of said purchased fruit and estate fruit, 50% of which comes from vineyards that could technically produce cru bottlings." Importer Notes

Masi Serego Alighieri Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Vaio Armaron 2003, 0.75L
Corvina / Rondinella / Molinara from Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, Veneto

"The 2003 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a darker and more earthy vintage for Vaio Armaron yet offers depths of crushed cherries, plum sauce, autumnal spice and a refreshing hint of minty herbs. It’s velvety and weighty in texture, supported by brisk acids and cool-toned red and black fruits contrasting with hints of sour citrus. It’s amazing how savory the 2003 shows today; however, it’s also full of energy and focused, as inner florals and hints of dried blueberries linger long. While this is a late release and included in the vintage collection, it has yet to be recorked. Also of note is that, due to the heat and dry conditions of the vintage, the 2003 did not benefit from the addition of botrytized fruit. Instead, it makes up for that glycerol-like sweetness with slightly more residual sugar than most vintages, at around 7 grams per liter." 92 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous

Bodega Vivaltus 2016, 0.75L
Tempranillo / Cabernet Sauvignon from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

"What a debut! Even given the distinguished track record of Bordeaux-based consultant Jean-Claude Berrouet, this is a remarkable wine that is part of a welcome new trend in Ribera del Duero. Elegant and refreshing, it has very fine tannins, floral top notes, subtle oak and just a hint of leafiness from 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Releasing the wine through the Place de Bordeaux with five years of age gives you some idea of the ambition that owner Yllera hasfor thissuperb cuvée.”97 Points, Tim Atkin MW, Decanter

“The eponymous 2016 Vivaltus was really impressive. I was already amazed at the unbottled sample, and the finished wine seems even better! It's a blend of Tempranillo with some Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, mostly from old vines. It fermented in stainless steel with neutral yeasts and aged for around 12 months in French barriques, 20% of them new. But there's no oak in the nose, which is ethereal and perfumed, elegant and nuanced, with notes of violets, wild berries and herbs. The palate shows ultrarefined tannins and comes through as beautifully textured, with a fine, chalky minerality, very good precision, clean and focused flavors and a long, tasty finish. Thisis really amazing.” 96 Points, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate

"The Le Ragnaie 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Passo del Lume Spento (with 3,020 bottles made) sees its fruit sourced from one of the highest places in the appellation, or the "pass of the extinguished lantern," as the wine's name translates into English. It is part of a broader trend that Montalcino vintners seem to be looking for cooler, high-altitude growing sites for Sangiovese. This wine demonstrates without a doubt that elevation is key in obtaining elegance in the warm years. This Brunello is particularly bright, punchy and energetic. "There is no doubt the 2007 Barolo Campe is impressive. It is a beautifully balanced wine layered with opulent, super-ripe fruit, new leather and licorice. The French oak is beautifully balanced in this broad-shouldered Barolo, while the fruit avoids the overripe tendencies of the past. The wine holds up perfectly in the glass, which hasn't always been the case. Tar, licorice and spices wrap around the intense finish. This is the finest vintage of Campe to date. La Spinetta Barolo Campe Vigneto Vursu 2006, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

"The 2006 Barolo Campe' is one of the most elegant wines I have ever tasted from La Spinetta. A deep, translucent red, the Campe' opens with a captivating bouquet of roses, spices, flowers and cherries, all of which resonate on the palate. The wine turns muscular in the glass, with powerful tannins that frame the expressive, generous fruit. There is plenty of richness and concentration, yet without the over-ripeness and excessive oakiness of past vintages. Smoke, tar and herbs are just some of the nuances that come to life as the dense fruit provides a wonderful foil to the tannins on the finish. This, too, is a terrific effort from La Spinetta. The 2006 Campe' was fermented in rotary tanks for 7-8 days and underwent malolactic fermentation in new French oak, where the wine was aged for 24 months prior to being bottled." 93 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"The methods at Lapierre are just as revolutionary as they are traditional; the detail and precision with which they work is striking and entirely different from the mass-produced majority of Beaujolais on the market today. Decomposed granite comprises most of their eleven hectares, and the vines are an average of 45 years of age. Grapes are picked at the last possible moment to obtain the ripest fruit, which is a trademark of the estate style. The Lapierres age their wines on fine lees for at least nine months in oak foudres and fûts ranging from three to thirteen years old. These wines are the essence of Morgon: bright, fleshy fruit with a palatable joie de vivre that was undoubtedly inherited from their creator." Importer Notes

Cultivar Cabernet Sauvignon North Coast 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from North Coast, California

"Luscious and enticing is the best way to introduce the latest bottling of our “Gold Label” Cabernet. Though the bright, brick color is more reminiscent of an aged Cabernet, the aromas of toasted oak, tobacco, and pepper are vibrant and young. On the palate, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon explodes with dark cherry, blueberry, root beer, and sarsaparilla, then finishes bright with flavors of exotic spices, cedar, and a hint of cassis. Beautiful tannins create a firm but opulent structure, while a quick aerating or decanting reveals even greater complexity. This medium bodied wine is built for pleasure and food. Go traditional with a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup or discover just how versatile this wine can be with black truffle fettuccini, bison meatloaf, or elk chops." Winery Notes

Nicholas Allen Carte Blanche Cabernet Sauvignon 2016, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"A different beast, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is more backward and reticent, and while it needs 4-5 years of bottle age, is packed with potential. Both black and blue fruits, earth, tobacco, and freshly crushed rock notes all flow to a full-bodied 2016 that has plenty of fine tannins, remarkable purity of fruit, and beautiful intensity and length. Do your best to give this some bottle age, and you’ll be rewarded with a phenomenal Napa Valley Cabernet that will keep for 2-3 decades."97 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

This is really structured with a compressed and exciting palate of intense fruit and compact tannins. Full-bodied yet reserved and holding back. Fantastic length. Give this three to four years of bottle age. Wait until 2022. 96 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

Charles Smith Syrah Stoneridge Vineyard Royal City 2015, 0.75L
Syrah from Columbia Valley, Washington

"Another magical Syrah is the 2015 Syrah Royal City. It shows a more finesse-driven (I wrote Burgundian in my notes), ethereal style as well as a beautiful perfume of kirsch and black cherry liqueur intermixed with notes of crushed flowers, ground herbs, pepper, and dried earth. Full-bodied, seamless, and ultra-fine on the palate, it has no hard edges and flawless balance, all making for an incredibly thrilling Syrah that’s already a joy to drink. High Coast Hav Single Malt Whisky NV, 0.75L
Whisky from Bjärtrå, Sweden

"A culture of high-quality craftsmanship, innovation, and environmental consciousness sets Nordic whiskies apart from other world whiskies. Hav, Swedish for the sea, is part of High Coast’s exceptional Origins series, and its flavor shorthand is oak spice. Wood spices, peat smoke, vanilla cream, and orange peel on the nose precede a lush palate of fruit and spice displaying sweet apricot, peach, honey, and dried tropical fruits, with a lengthy, spicy finish. Matured in bourbon casks, it mingles batches of peated and unpeated spirit, with some components receiving an accelerator period in 40-liter casks coopered from Hungarian and Swedish oak."
"This single malt is crafted in Sweden, taking advantage of the extreme temperature changes during its maturation process. Crafted with both peated and unpeated whisky, it has matured in a combination of ex-bourbon casks from Kentucky, Swedish oak casks, and Hungarian oak casks. Tasting Notes: The nose is fruity and spicy with aromas of clove, gentle peat, and nutmeg. The palate features a nice balance of fruit and spice, along with hints of peat. The finish is oaky with vanilla and clove." 93 Points/Top 20 Whiskies of 2021, Whisky Advocate

Domaine Rapet Père et Fils Pernand-Vergelesses Les Combottes 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Pernand Vergelesses, Burgundy

"The les Combottes bottling from Vincent Rapet is a villages level bottling, made from vines that range from twenty-five to thirty years of age and are raised all in three hundred and fifty liter casks. The 2018 version is excellent, offering up a precise and complex bouquet of pear, fresh almond, chalky minerality, spring flowers and a hint of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and beautifully soil-driven in personality, with a lovely core of fruit, good acids and grip and a long, well-balanced and complex finish. Chapelle Saint Theodoric Chateauneuf-du-Pape Les Sablons 2019, 0.75L
Grenache from Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône

"Looking at the 2019s, all of which are still aging in barrel, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Les Sablons can be thought of as the entry level Grenache. Destemmed and aged in older barrels, this round, mouth-filling, medium to full-bodied Grenache offers lots of red and black fruits as well as some meaty, spicy nuances. It will have plenty of up-front appeal.

While the Chapelle Saint Theodoric wines are made by Baptiste Grangeon of Domaine de Cristia, the wines are dramatically different in style and are mostly not destemmed (the base Les Sablons can be destemmed) and aged all in older, larger oak barrels. These are much more perfumed, floral, elegant wines. and I always find a Burgundy-like character. In general, the Les Sablons and La Guigasse are the most approachable, with the Le Grand Pin always requiring additional bottle age to show at its best." 93-95 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

"The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Grand Pin is more vibrant and complex, offering notes of juniper bush, white pepper, sappy herbs, and assorted dark fruits. Coming all from the northern part of the Pignan lieu-dit and all Grenache that was not destemmed, it’s full-bodied and has a great mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. It’s another stunning wine from this team.

Viñedo Chadwick 2015, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Valle del Maipo, Valle Central

"Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Vinedo Chadwick Vineyard, aged 22 months in 73% new French oak (15% was in foudre), the 2015 Vinedo Chadwick is an incredible effort that has both elegance and richness. Notes of crème de cassis, graphite, wet stone-like minerality, and plenty of leafy herb characteristics all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, seamless, gorgeously polished red. It’s already drinking nicely yet should cruise in the cellar for 10-15 years." Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

I also tasted the 2015 Viñedo Chadwick from a warm and dry vintage that resulted in very healthy grapes that were picked earlier than ever. The parameters are remarkably similar to the 2014, and the winemaking and élevage were also virtually the same, fermentation in stainless steel and aging in French barriques (73% new) and with some 15% matured in a Stockinger oak foudre. As I saw in many other 2015s, this is the most elegant and refined vintage I have seen of this wine. With ultra-refined tannin, the wine is dry, very clean, not minty at all, with very good tension and length, with a chalky, tasty, almost salty finish. Of course, the classical notes of cedar wood, black peppercorns and tobacco are there, but in a very subtle way. Super elegant. 11,493 bottles were filled in February 2017. 95 Points, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate

Viñedo Chadwick 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Petit Verdot from Valle del Maipo, Valle Central

"The aromas show blackcurrant, pine-tree, violet and light spearmint character. Full-bodied, yet reserved and tight with fine, creamy tannins. Hints of currants and fresh herbs. Extremely long and layered. Try after 2022."98 Points, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

They talk about textbook climate conditions during the growing season for the grapes used for the 2018 Viñedo Chadwick, mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with a 3% dash of Petit Verdot. The vines are planted on alluvial soils, and the grapes were picked in the morning and transported to the winery to be fermented in a combination of stainless steel (75%) and troncoconic concrete vats. Eighty percent of the wine matured in new French oak barriques and the remaining 20% in Stockinger oak foudres for a period of 22 months. It's 13.5% alcohol and has very good acidity. Viñedo Chadwick is a little warmer as a zone than the vineyards of Seña, but the wine is still very fresh, with moderate alcohol, perfectly ripe fruit and super integrated oak, coming through as elegant within the powerful style of the zone, with red and black fruit, some aromatic herbs, the cedary and spicy notes of the variety and the signature tannins of Cabernet, keeping the juiciness of the last few years. The little bit of Petit Verdot in the blend gives it a spicy touch. It's vibrant, balanced and intense, still a little young and creamy, and I'd wait a little bit longer before pulling the cork. This can surely age in bottle, as it has the ingredients and the balance to do so; it has the elegance of 2016 with a little more structure and depth—and a little more clout too. 10,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2020. 97 Points, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate

The 2018 Le Prieuré is all class, just as it was en primeur. Silky, perfumed and light on its feet, the 2018 is a fabulous example of how refined Saint-Émilion can be. Once again, I am so impressed by the wine's freshness and vitality. Sweet red cherry fruit, blood orange, mint and cinnamon all build over time, but what stands out most is the wine's exceptional balance and harmony. "The 2020er Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spätlese offers a quite rich and even slightly ripe nose of almond cream and bakery products as well as honeyed yellow peach, William’s pear, apricot, and anise, all wrapped into smoky and refined elements. The wine coats the palate with ample and sweet fruits, which give a smoother and ampler structure to the wine. The finish has however more presence and intensity, but still needs to integrate its tale of initial sweetness. This clearly has some upside potential as it gains finesse and elegance over time." 92+ Points, Mosel Fine Wines

Joh. Jos. Prum Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett 2020, 0.75L
Riesling from Graach, Mosel

"The 2020er Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett is still marked by some fine flinty reduction at first but quickly reveals an aromatic and superbly attractive side including whipped almond cream, grapefruit, white flowers, vineyard peach, herbs, and a hint of Pina Colada. The wine proves very delicate and airy on the light-weighted palate. The aftertaste leaves one with superbly smoky and fruity flavors, which still proves tight but loaded with energy. This is a superb Kabinett in the making."  91 Points, Mosel Fine Wines

Riesling from Wehlen, Mosel

"The 2020er Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett greets one with a superbly aromatic and refined floral nose of tangerine, candied grapefruit, minty herbs, some floral nuances, and yellow peach. The wine is very delicate and rather smooth on the spicy and suave palate. The finish proves tight and lean as some fine zesty elements come through and add a very playful and truly Kabinett footprint. The wine combines a feeling of light ripeness and cool freshness and proves a very successful Kabinett."  92 Points, Mosel Fine Wines

Joh. Jos. Prum Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese 2020, 0.375L
Riesling from Graach, Mosel

"The 2020er Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese offers a beautifully pure and ripe nose of smoke, grapefruit, lime, vineyard peach, minty herbs, and bacon-driven aromatics from residual from its spontaneous fermentation. The wine coats the palate with gorgeously ripe and juicy notes of fruits and leaves a superbly pure, smooth, and almost soft and suave feel in the hugely long finish. The aftertaste is still loaded with sweetness in need of integration, which will need quite some time to integrate. d'Aiguilhe 2016, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from Côtes de Bordeaux Castillon, Bordeaux

"The 2016 d'Aiguilhe is absolutely delicious. Succulent, nuanced and inviting, the 2016 has so much to offer. Ripe cherry, plum, French oak, mocha, new leather and spice all flesh out effortlessly. Deep, generous and resonant, the 2016 captures all the best the vintage has to offer. Sweet, silky tannins add to the wine's considerable appeal. It would be nice to see a bit less overtness to the oak. The wine really does not need it. In 2016, d'Aiguilhe is very pretty. Tasted two times." 92 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Capiaux Old Vine Russian River Pinot Noir 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley, California

"Sean Capiaux's 2018 Pinot Noir Old Vine is a blend from Widdoes and Starscape, both planted with Martini clone, which tends to give an especially aromatic, exotic Pinot. Blood orange, mint, spice, star anise and kirsch all lift from the glass. Like all of these Pinots, the Old Vine is a bit clenched today, and yet its potential is evident. This is such a pretty and distinctive wine with a ton of underlying energy that just needs a bit of time to be at its most express." 93+ Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

F.X. Pichler Riesling Ried Burgstall Federspiel 2018, 0.75L
Riesling from Wachau, Wachau

"The 2018 Ried Burgstall Riesling Federspiel is super clear and fresh on the aromatic nose with its perfectly ripe white peach and apricot aromas. Salty, pure and fresh on the crunchy, nicely reductive palate, this is a precise dry Riesling with grip and tension. Tasted after the 2017 and 2018 Unendlich Veltliners, this is a great refreshment but not easy to evaluate exactly. However, it can still stand, and that's not the worst sign. It is ripe and fresh but not green or vegetal, just grippy and refreshingly racy. Tasted at the domain in September 2019." Stephen Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

Michel Bouzereau et Fils Meursault Les Grands Charrons 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Meursault, Burgundy

"The 2019 Meursault Les Grands Charrons, also taken from tank, has a well-defined bouquet of citrus fruit infused with touches of yellow flower; hints of apricot blossom emerge with time. The palate is well balanced with a brisk, citrus- and lime-tinged entry. Taut at the moment, but there is palpable energy here, and a persistent, ginger-infused finish. Excellent." 89-91 Neal Martin, Vinous

"Ripe aromas of poached pear, hazelnut and citrus zest precede energetic and utterly delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess good richness on the dry, precise and lingering finale. La Serena Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gemini 2015, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

"The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gemini is fruit-forward and a bit extroverted yet impossible to ignore. It boasts a striking mix with intense raspberry preserves, exotic spices and dusty dried florals. Its textures are soft and fleshy, creating a creamy feel to its radiant, ripe fruit profile, while maintaining balance through brisk acids and grippy tannins. The 2015 Gemini takes a turn toward austerity, finishing structured and grippy; yet through it all, sweet violet florals resonate. This may be a full-throttle and extroverted effort, but it’s well balanced and sure to have a lot of fans. Important to note that this was checked in on, and held up beautifully over the course of three days." 94 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous

La Serena Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gemini 2013, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

"The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Gemini shows a ripe yet earthy display of forest berries with spicy florals, notes of moist soil, crushed stone and hints of animal musk. On the palate, soft textures envelop the senses in a coating of sweet and sour red fruits and spice with a citrus twang, as tannins slowly mount, yet the Gemini maintains freshness beautifully through zesty acids and inner florals. The finish is long, turning more toward the youthfully tart side, with saturating spices and grippy tannins clenching the senses. It has many years to go before all of the elements come into balance, but once they do, pure beauty. I tasted the 2013 Gemini over the course of two days and it just kept getting better." 95 Points, Eric Guido, Vinous

Chardonnay / Pinot Noir / Pinot Meunier from Champagne, Champagne

"An amazing 2008 rosé Champagne that has all the structure and aromatic complexity - sushi ginger, oolong tea and caramelized mandarin orange - we associate with this vintage, but also has more charm than most. On the palate, this has stunning concentration, yet is diamond bright. The interplay of creaminess, fine tannins and mineral acidity builds and builds at the breathtaking finish. Anthill Farms Cabernet Sauvignon Timbercrest Farms 2018 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Dry Creek Valley, California

"Dark red/purple color. This Cabernet Sauvignon is sensual and nuanced, with tremendous textural finesse. Time in the glass brings out a range of black currant, dark blossoms, cedar, warm soil, and spice box aromas. Unlike many California Cabernets, the flavors are nuanced rather than obtuse. They span out across the palate effortlessly, making drinking now a joy with just a little air. Folded tannins and integrated acidity will allow the Timbercrest to easily age and improve for a decade or more. This is only the second vintage of this wine—the first from 2007 still sings when the cork is pulled. 13.8% abv." Producer Notes, Anthill Farms

Continuum Proprietary Red Sage Mountain Vineyard 2018, 1.5L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot / Merlot from Napa Valley, California

"This has incredible nuances and delicacy with power. It’s full-bodied with lots of gentle tannins that spread across the palate. The character is full of blackberry, blackcurrant and lead pencil. Some conifer and pine needles. Sage at the end, too. Savory. So long-lasting and layered. Such purity. It’s so complex and changes all the time in the glass. Goes on for minutes. 54% cabernet sauvignon, 31% cabernet franc, 9% petit verdot and 6% merlot. Organically grown grapes. So drinkable now, but will age beautifully." 100 Points James Suckling

"Composed of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc, 9% Petit Verdot and 6% Merlot, the deep garnet-purple 2018 Proprietary Red has a fantastically fragrant nose of candied violets, red roses, Morello cherries and blackcurrant pastilles with hints of wild blueberries, red currant jelly, iron ore and forest floor, plus a waft of cinnamon stick. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is completely packed with tightly wound black and red berry layers, framed by firm, ripe, finely grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with incredibly persistent and evocative floral and mineral layers. An absolute head-turner, this 2018 is all that and then some. Tim Mondavi mentioned that this is due to be bottled in just a few weeks—mid-August—meaning this barrel sample I tasted is pretty close to being a finished wine. With the estate vineyard turning 10 year's old in 2018, here's where we see how incredibly special this singular Pritchard Hill site really is." 98-100 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate

Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley 2017, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley, California

"Our 2017 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is comprised of 95.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3.6% Merlot, 0.5% Cabernet Franc, 0.3% Petit Verdot and 0.1% Malbec. In early 2018, the final blend was transferred to American oak barrels from our cooperage, The Oak, where it aged for 24 months. Half the barrels for our 2017 Alexander Valley vintage were new, providing a subtle, layered expression of bay leaf, coconut and vanilla to our wines. Blending before barrel aging—a signature of our winemaking style—allows blends to be based on the inherent qualities of their vineyard components before oak influence. Vintage to vintage, the resulting Cabernets emerge integrated and ready to drink upon release." Producer Notes, Silver Oak Winery

Charles Joguet Chinon Les Varennes Du Grand Clos 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc from Chinon, Loire

"The 2018 Chinon Les Varennes du Grand Clos Franc de Pieds comes from the foot of a gravelly terrace in Sazilly (on the left bank of the Vienne River) that was partly formed by the erosion of the limestone hillside. The vineyard has a very special silica-clay and calcareous terroir and was planted between 1962 and 1976. Aged in new to four-year-old French barrels for 15/16 months and another six months in vat, the 2018 offers a deep, pure, intense and fine bouquet of dark fruits, crushed stones and lemons as well as raw meat. Silky fresh and elegant on the first palate, this is a concentrated, fleshy and firmly structured Cabernet Franc with an impressive bead of mineral acidity and ripe, crunchy tannins that give energy and tension and a long and intense finish. This is a great Chinon for cellaring even though it already tastes impressively. This is an absolutely juicy Cabernet Franc that I'd age for at least 5-10 years, just to be amazed.
