Malescot St. Exupery 2024, 1.5L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Margaux, Bordeaux
“The 2024 Malescot Saint Exupery has a cohesive nose with ample scents of blackberry, raspberry, light violet and just a touch of cedar in the background-backward, for sure, but it unfurls in the glass. The medium-bodied palate has firm tannins, a little chewy in a pleasant way with composure and bite on the finish. This is a thoroughly enjoyable fresh Margaux that will drink earlier than the 2022.” 91-93, Neal Martin, Vinous May 2025

Léoville-Barton 2024, 1.5L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Julien, Bordeaux
"Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Fine cassis, black cherries, nuances of nougat, orange zest, inviting bouquet. Juicy, complex, fruity depth, lively structure, pleasant fruit, balanced, mineral, very successful, definite ageing potential." 94, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
“A serious wine that will delight patient purists, but which also showcases the new levels of purity and precision that this estate has been attaining since completion of the new winery, the 2024 Léoville Barton is a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Unwinding in the glass with notes of cassis, plums, pencil shavings and violets, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and impressively concentrated, with a taut but nicely integrated profile, concluding with a pure, penetrating finish.” 92-94, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Léoville Barton was picked from September 24 to October 5 and contains just a little more Cabernet Sauvignon than previous vintages. Matured in 60% new oak, this has an open bouquet with black fruit, potpourri and light sous-bois-scents - quintessentially Barton. The palate is medium-bodied, well balanced and sapid in style with slightly powdery tannins on the entry and a little sinew on the finish that should be abraded during barrel maturation. This is a finely crafted Léoville Barton that should age with grace.” 91-93, Neal Martin, Vinous Apr 2025

Jean-Louis Chave Saint-Joseph 2022, 0.75L
Syrah from St. Joseph, Rhône
"A tasting of the four main parts (Les Challaix, Le Clos, La Dardouille and Bachasson) suggests that this will be a vintage that combines power – black fruits and thick tannins from La Dardouille – and more lifted, fleshy, fragrant, low acid elements from Les Challaix, plus Bachasson's rose and raspberry. A little richer and more velvety than a typical year." 94, Matt Walls, Decanter, Sep 2023
“I tasted numerous components that will form the final blend of the 2022 Saint-Joseph. Ripe red and blue fruits usher in, complemented by licorice, violets, cedar and pencil shaving elements. Medium-bodied, juicy and refined, all 2022 samples display wonderful freshness within an intricate web of polished tannins. If all continues down this path, this will be a terrific Saint-Joseph.” 92-94, Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous, Mar 2024
“The 2022 Saint Joseph is classic Saint Joseph with its darker currant, plum, and cassis-driven fruits as well as incredible minerality. It's deep, medium to full-bodied, has lots of tannins, the classic austerity of the appellation, and a great finish. It's going to need some bottle age, but you can easily put this up with the crème de la crème of the appellation. This iconic estate continues to hold the line on what constitutes a truly great Hermitage, both red and white, and there are few vinous treats better than a tasting with Jean-Louis Chave in his cellar in Mauve. Looking at the wines reviewed here, the 2022s were tasted from barrel, and this is a ripe, sunny, yet also tannic vintage that’s going to benefit from its élevage, as well as require bottle age. They remind me slightly of Chave’s 1998, although as I say in the review, I think there’s a touch more sun-kissed fruit in the 2022s. The 2021s are beautiful, elegant, seamless wines, and you’ll be hard pressed to do better in the vintage. These aren’t massive wines, but they have pretty, complex, and classic profiles that will drink well with just a few years of bottle age. On another level, the 2020s are powerful, massive wines that remind me slightly of the 2010s (or is it 2009s?). They have tons of baby fat and are already fun to taste, but these are built for the long haul.” 92-94, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2024

Jean-Louis Chave l'Hermitage 2022, 0.75L
Syrah from Hermitage, Rhône
"A tasting of the different lieux-dits showed how the different soil types reacted to the drought. Granite-based parcels (Ermite, Les Bessards) suffered blockages in ripening and finished at 13% alcohol; the clay-based terroirs (Le Méal, Les Beaumes) didn't stop ripening and finished at 15%. The overall blend will be powerful but fragrant, complex and stylistically sits within other recent dry and hot vintages, and isn't outside the current norm (it's nothing like the similarly extreme 2003). Picking started at the end of August." 98, Matt Walls, Decanter, Sep 2023
“I tasted various separately vinified lieux-dits that will eventually curate the 2022 L'Hermitage. Both the L'Ermite and Les Bessards, the cuvée’s backbone, show terrific structure, finesse and complexity. I am totally taken by the sheer beauty of the Les Beaumes with its striking inner energy and the mesmerizing floral lift of the Péléat. Cropped at an overall 30 hL/ha, the ripeness of the vintage is skillfully balanced by lifting freshness throughout all components. I can’t wait to taste the final result.” 96-98, Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous, Mar 2024
“The 2022 Hermitage will be a beauty, but it has the focused, firmer, straight style of the vintage. As usual, I was able to taste through all of the lieux-dits: Péleat, Les Beaumes, L'Ermite, Le Méal, and Les Bessards, all being mid- to upper-90s ratings, the standouts being L’Ermite and Bessards, with the Méal possessing a more focused, tannic style than normal. All of the barrels I was able to taste had remarkable purity, beautiful overall balance, and classic Hermitage class, with an incredible sense of minerality. This is a great wine, but it's going to take a decade of bottle age. The firmer structure and incredible minerality actually remind me of the 1998, although I think there's a touch more sun-kissed fruit here. This iconic estate continues to hold the line on what constitutes a truly great Hermitage, both red and white, and there are few vinous treats better than a tasting with Jean-Louis Chave in his cellar in Mauve. The racy, indeed almost painfully intense, middleweight flavors flash outstanding minerality on the balanced, lemony, detailed and impressively persistent finale. "A different aromatic profile is comprised by notes of acacia blossom, hazelnut, spice and essence of Granny Smith apple. The rich, generous and seductively textured medium weight flavors exude a subtle minerality on the punchy and sappy finale that is shaped by citrus-tinged acidity. This is also impressive for its level and, much like the Chatenière, a wine that should be enjoyable young and with age." 90-92, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jun 2024

"This is even more floral-suffused with its nose of petrol, lemon rind and soft wood. The rich and quite generously proportioned middleweight flavors coat the palate with dry extract while exuding a more subtle bead of minerality on the balanced, lingering and citrus-tinged finish. Once again this is sufficiently forward to allow for good early drinkability yet should have no trouble repay a decade plus of keeping." 90-93, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jun 2024

There is excellent volume to the caressing and seductive yet tension-filled flavors that deliver very fine length on the overtly stony, firm and built-to-age finale. There is a bit less volume and even finer texture to the stony, delicious and intense medium weight flavors that deliver fine length on the balanced, clean and dry finale that is just a bit more complex. Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Chassagne Montrachet Les Ancegnieres 2022, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet, Burgundy
"This wine from PYCM is among Burgundy's most outstanding values; oddly, it seems much of it goes to Asia, but this is worth seeking out. The 2022 has a complex nose of ripe pear, nectarine, exotic spices and a hint of smoky reduction. The texture is dense and rich — unsurprisingly, since the lieu-dit is just downslope from Bâtard-Montrachet. Colin farms 0.26 hectares in two parcels: the oldest has 80-year-old vines, while the other has been replanted. It is one of Burgundy's truly great 'village' wines." 95, Charles Curtis MW, Decanter, Nov 2023

Montrose 2024, 1.5L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Estèphe, Bordeaux
“The 2024 Montrose has a little more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend due to the yields in a various parcels. It was picked between September 23 and October 7 and matured in 60% new oak. The well-defined and very able nose demonstrates classicism, fine delineation and a little more florality than the Terrasse III. The palate is medium- bodied with very finely chiselled tannins and a keen line of acidity. The symmetrical Saint-Estèphe is blessed with an elegant, sapid and reassuringly precise finish that the estate seems to have honed in the last few years. It does not have the unbridled ambition of, say the 2020 Montrose, but it is exceptionally well crafted and will become a fine Saint-Estèphe.” 94-96, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025
“A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, the 2024 Montrose is a serious, muscular effort that numbers among the wines of the vintage. Unwinding in the glass with notes of cassis, burning embers, cigar wrapper and iris, it's medium to full-bodied, dense and layered, with a lively spine of acidity, rich structuring tannins and a long, penetrating finish. With both the highest proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon recorded at Montrose and a rather low pH of 3.55, it will surely number among the longest lived 2024 Bordeaux.” 93-95, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2025
“Deep dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Delicately smoky and herbaceous undertones of wild black berries, fine cassis, blackberry jam, and nuances of oak, an attractive bouquet. Complex, tight-knit, dark cherries, ripe, first-class tannins, good freshness, a mineral finish, elegant, persistent, with length and potential, a classic aromatic profile.” 95, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025

Gaja Barbaresco Costa Russi 2020, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, Piedmont
“Lavender and sage with berries and dried strawberries, but so perfumed and subtle. Medium- to full-bodied with very fine tannins that are totally integrated with finesse and beauty at the end. Caresses your palate.” 97, James Suckling, Jun 2023
“The 2020 Costa Russi was also tasted from barrel and takes on more depth and concentration from the Barbaresco, though is beautifully floral and expansive, with notes of wild strawberry and lavender. Medium-bodied, with fantastic length and persistence, this beautiful wine is showing incredibly well at this early stage prior to release, but it does have a bit more tannin structure that will benefit from more time in bottle over the next year or so.” 95-97, Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2023
“The 2020 Barbaresco Costa Russi is a classy, polished wine. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, new leather, licorice and lavender all take shape. As always, Costa Russi is the most supple and charming of the Gaja Barbarescos in the early going.” 96, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Sep 2023
“The Gaja 2020 Barbaresco Costa Russi has a rose and floral note that emerges at first, and it doesn't have the heavy dark earth or cured leather aromas that we get in the Barbaresco. This wine is focused on fruit tones, bright ones, and those nuances are juicy, generous and long. There's more youth in this wine, and the tannins are extremely fine and silky. Count on this wine to improve with age.” 95, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Apr 2024

De Forville Barbera d'Alba 2023, 0.75L
Barbera from Barbera d'Alba, Piedmont
“This vibrant, full-bodied red is a blend of grapes harvested in parcels spread amongst the three communes of Barbaresco, Neive and Alba. Included as the primary source are grapes harvested in the cru “Ga’Grosso” in Barbaresco. The grapes are crushed and are then fermented in stainless steel for almost two weeks after which the wine is racked into oak barrels and “botti” for one year prior to bottling. The average age of the vines is 30 years. We import between 7,500 and 9,000 bottles per annum for the US market.” Importer Notes

Bernabeleva Camino de Navaherreros 2023, 0.75L
Garnacha from Madrid, Madrid
“The young red 2023 Camino de Navaherreros is Garnacha with some 10% Tempranillo that fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in 500-liter barrels and tinaja. It has a slightly deeper color than the pure Garnacha bottlings and a fruit-driven nose with aromas of berries, flowers and herbs. It has a medium-bodied palate with fine tannins and is balanced, easy to drink and very pleasant. It has a moderate 13% alcohol, denoting contained ripeness, and a pH of 3.34 that indicates freshness. 12,000 bottles produced.” 91+, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Nov 2024

Barbera from Barbera d'Alba, Piedmont
“The 2022 Barbera Sori del Drago is a juicy, textured wine. Dark red cherry, plum, licorice and mocha are dialed up. Vinification and aging in steel helps preserve some freshness, but this is still a pretty rich, heady Barbera.” 90, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jan 2025

Fattoria di Bacchereto Carmignano Terre a Mano 2018, 0.75L

“Fattoria Di Bacchereto produces 20000 bottles annually. The wines are lightly macerated at controlled temperatures and they are fermented in concrete vats and malolactic. Anna Maria Abbona Barolo Bricco San Pietro 2019, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont
“A concentrated, complex nose of ground spices, ripe red berries, cedar and smoky mineral complexity. Racy and succulent on a medium to full bodied palate, with a broad, mouth-filling tannin structure. Fine and lingering.” 93, James Suckling, Sep 2024
“The Anna Maria Abbona 2019 Barolo Bricco San Pietro offers rich concentration and fruit that feels balanced and ripe. This wine does not have the softer, sweet fruit notes that you get in the 2018 vintage. Instead, this Barolo shows dried currant, earth, crushed stone and white pepper. The tannins are dry and silky. Some 7,000 bottles were produced.” 92, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Apr 2024

Alegre Valgañón Rioja Blanco 2023, 0.75L
Viura / Garnacha Blanca / Tempranillo Blanco from Rioja, La Rioja
"The white 2023 Blanco was produced with 85% Viura, 15% Garnacha Blanca and 5% Tempranillo Blanco, which is the taste they have found works for them, without adding yeasts and putting the wine through malolactic fermentation and using some skin contact for the fermentation. They use grapes from eight vineyards, most of them from the Montes Obarenes, except a little bit from Remelluri. In 2022, a very warm and dry year with a tendency toward less acidity and higher pH, they decided to use less skin contact, perhaps 10%. They aged the wine in concrete, oak vats and 500-liter barrels, working the lees less and less as the élevage advances. Despite everything, it has a moderate 12.8% alcohol and a pH of 3.29, a clean and floral nose, with perhaps some hints of yellow fruit, and a tender and velvety palate with tasty flavors and a dry and chalky finish. 14,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2024." 92, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Feb 2025

Lynch-Bages 2024, 1.5L
Bordeaux Blend from Pauillac, Bordeaux
“Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Delicate notes of wood, goji berry, tobacco savouriness, some cassis and blackberry, attractive bouquet. Juicy, red berry, lively structure, mineral, a hint of nougat in the aftertaste, elegant and with maturity and certain ageing potential.” 93, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
The 2024 Lynch-Bages was cropped at just under 30 hl/ha and aged in 75% new oak for a planned 18 months. It has some initial reduction that is shaken off after several minutes. Very pure blackberry and blueberry fruit emerges with hints of melted tar and graphite and iodine eventually lends more complexity. The palate is medium-bodied and quite focused with grippy tannins that are impressive for their fineness. The 2024 possesses palpable mineralité and a poised finish. Though this does not touch the skyscraping heights that have been achieved in recent years, it is a “capable” Lynch-Bages that might warrant two or three years in the cellar and drink well for up to 15 years or possibly longer.” 91-93, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025

“Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, brightening on the edge. Delicate notes of blackberries, a hint of liquorice, still a little shy, a hint of fine oak, red berry nuances. Complex, fine red cherries, fresh acidity, mineral and salty, firm finish, fine cassis notes in the aftertaste, has good ageing potential.” 94, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Smith Haut Lafitte was picked from September 18 to October 9 and matured in 60% new oak. It has an understated bouquet that I appreciate, with scents of blackberry, raspberry, light rose petal and India ink that gradually unfurl in the glass. The Palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, extremely well balanced and very refined, with a linear and correct finish. This is a classy smith Haut Lafite that will provide up to 20 years of drinking pleasre.” 92-94, Neal Martin, Apr 2025

Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 2024, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc / Sémillon from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux
“The 2024 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc is a blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sauvignon Gris and 5% Sémillon, matured in 50% new oak. It needed a bit of aeration in the glass, eventually revealing scents of Anjou pear, gooseberry, white flowers and light flinty aromas. The palate is well balanced with lilting nectarine, pear and stem ginger notes. Fine weight and depth, with a judicious touch of spice towards the finish. The sapidity and linearity of this impressive Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc mean it should repay cellaring.” 94-96, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025
“Pale straw yellow, silver reflections. Smoky, fine herbal savouriness, delicate hints of candied grapefruit, white peach, nuances of gooseberry, attractive bouquet. Juicy, very precise and clear, fine yellow fruit nuances, elegant, fresh, well-balanced acidity, crystalline minerality, very good length, sure and certain ageing potential.” 95, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
“Floral and complex, the 2024 Blanc from Smith Haut Lafitte offers up aromas of white peach, apricot, spices and spring blossoms. Medium-bodied, round and layered, it's sappy and seamless with an incisive mid-palate and a long, ethereal and refreshing finish. Matured in 50% new oak, this blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sémillon and 5% Sauvignon Gris represents a strong effort.” 92-94, Yohan Castaing, Apr 2025
