Canon 2009, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"John Kolasa mentioned that in 2009 he increased the percentage of Cabernet Franc up to 25% and that his intention is to dial it up to 35% in several years. The 2009 was matured in 60% new oak. This is more reticent on the nose, very classic in style but beautifully defined with just the right amount of reserve and austerity. The palate is fresh and very elegant, with disarmingly svelte, silky tannins. Good depth, not powerful but succulent and mineral-rich on the structured finish. Excellent – but it will need several years in bottle and is perhaps more 2010 in style than its peers." 96 Points Neal Martin

Canon 2015, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"The 2015 Canon was a benchmark wine that seemed to revitalize this historic estate. I was crossing my fingers that it would not disappoint in bottle and I am glad to say that it delivers the goods. It has a very intense bouquet (just as it showed out of barrel) with laser-like precision offering wild strawberry, raspberry preserve, wet limestone and hints of truffle. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, clean and fresh with pure black and red fruit whose every atom appears infused with minerals. The mouth is tingling long after the wine has exited and your brain is thinking...when is the next sip coming? It is frankly heads and shoulders above almost every Saint Émilion this vintage, to reaffirm, a benchmark for this historic estate that will give pleasure to many over the coming years. Astonishing." 100 Neal Martin

Grand Puy-Lacoste 2009, 0.75L

"A very impressive Pauillac that won't require you taking out a second mortgage to buy a case this is deeply coloured and profound. Big and boldly structured but not over-done. Very Cabernet in style with lovely richness and concentration fresh acidity and polished tannins. The decision to use less Merlot than usual is vindicated by what's in the glass." 96 Points Tim Atkin

Montrose 1998, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

"Dark red. Lively. Good intensity. Young. Brilliant. Clean. Average color intensity. Fruity. Fine touches of caramel and licorice. Pure and fine. More powerful. More saline. Soft entry on the palate, very fruity, rounded and savory, developed, medium to full-bodied. The wine evolves toward juicy notes, always close to the fruit and melting in the mouth, with savor and power. It leaves in the finish a beautiful note of ripe fruit with no hard tannins, even if they are present; they are very palate-coating. Beautifully fine wine." 92 points Jean-Marc Quarin

Montrose 2000, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

“Just starting to open, it shows beautiful spices and dark fruit on the nose and palate. It’s full-bodied with ultra-fine, integrated tannins and an extremely complex, refined finish.” 96 Points James Suckling

“Tasted at the vertical in London, the question was whether the 2000 Montrose would be paradigmatic of a vintage whereby the wines have remained sullen and broody in their youth. On this occasion, to my surprise I found it more open than the 2005 (which admittedly is not saying that it's open for business!). It is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot picked from 22 September to 7 October. I afforded it a couple of hours in the glass and it responded with plenty of pure ripe blackberry and raspberry fruit, hints of cold slate and even charcoal emerging with time.”  94+ Points Wine Advocate

“Full red-ruby. Roasted, smoky aromas of blackberry, blueberry and licorice. Plush, dense and large-scaled; expands impressively in the mouth. Chocolatey-ripe but kept fresh by nicely integrated acidity. Offers lovely sweetness without going over the top. Finishes with big, dusty, horizontal tannins and lovely aromatic persistence. Offers extraordinary texture and depth of flavor for a wine with just 12.8% alcohol.” 94 Points Vinous

Montrose 2005, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

"The Château Montrose 2005 has a quite brilliant bouquet with intense blackberry, cedar and tobacco scents that unfold in compelling fashion – but don’t give too much away. The palate is full-bodied, a Montrose of “architecture” thanks to its vaulted tannin, perfect acidity and immense precision on the long finish. Everything here feel natural and effortless and yet it is clearly a 50+ year old wine. This is a fabulous Montrose, one built like a Bentley." 96 Points Wine Advocate

Montrose 2009, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

"Jean Bernard Delmas’ goal was to find perfect equilibrium between freshness and concentration, given its incredible opulence and the voluptuous character this vintage offered. That’s what this wine has in abundance. With an astounding dense purple color, the wine has velvety, sweet tannins, and an extremely open-knit and opulent blueberry, blackberry and creme de cassis nose. There is scorched earth, vanilla and, again, telltale licorice and spice. It is unctuously textured – thicker and juicier than the 2010 and more forward." 100 Points Robert M. Parker Jr.

Palmer 2016, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc from Margaux, Bordeaux

Pre-Arrival

“"Technical Director Thomas Duroux and his team made one of the most brilliant wines of the 2016 vintage. Palmer is simply exceptional. Rich and dramatically sweeping in the glass, the 2016 is breathtaking. All the elements simply fall into place in a wine of mesmerizing beauty. The counterpoint of dark, sumptuous fruit and floral notes makes for an utterly compelling Palmer that will take its place among the estate's finest vintages. Dark cherry, lavender, spice and mocha are some of the many notes that build into a deep, substantial finish that is truly unforgettable. In a word: magnificent!"” Vinous 100 Points

“I wrote that the 2015 was incredible, and this 2016 is again. It’s equally structured and powerful as the 2015, yet there’s an underlying intellectual serenity to this wine. You taste it, and you want to know and experience it even more. Full and tannic yet ever so polished and beautiful. Mesmerizing. Made from biodynamically grown grapes.” James Suckling 99-100 Points

“Potentially an 100-point wine, this is beautifully ripe and rich, with sweet tannins as well as opulent black fruit tones. A higher than usual proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend gives the wine its density, sophistication and great sense of presence.” Wine Enthusiast 98-100 Points

“The grand vin represents 65% of production in 2016, the highest ever. It has many similarities in style with the 2001 and 1986, being a classically styled wine full of soft slate, fern, liquorice and cassis, but from the modern era where you can achieve so much more precision. This is a wine that makes you smile from the first sip, and keeps on getting better, caressing you gently across the palate. There is never any let up through the mid-palate, and the biodynamics that have been practised here for the past few years are clearly paying off. Elegant, utterly silky and precise, the structure is just effortless with reasonably fresh alcohols that are the result of late ripening. A perfect example of the appellation, it has the florality, density and slow tannic pace that means it takes you right along with it as the flavours build. Intellectual without being overbearing, and built to age. This is impressive stuff.” Decanter 98 Points

“The 2016 Palmer is a blend of 47% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot cropped at 29 hectoliters per hectare between 3 and 18 October. Matured in 65% new oak (my sample coming from a used barrel), the bouquet is perhaps not quite as intense as some of its peers and takes time to click into fifth gear. Eventually it offers tightly wound blackberry, briary and mineral scents; it is very focused, but maybe less extrovert and more classic in style compared to recent vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip on the entry, quite firm in the mouth with slightly tarry black fruit, hints of black truffle developing towards the finish that feels masculine and linear. It has very impressive length, completing what is an intellectual Palmer, one that I suspect will really blossom in bottle.” Wine Advocate 95-97 Points

“Very dark, velvety look - really bright. Complex and energetic. Not simple and sweet but quite a step change. Feels a little transitional because it's so different and more energetic than the old style. 65% new oak, as always, but the wine can absorb it better. Some bitter chocolate. Lots of sweetness. Energy and freshness.” Jancis Robinson 17.5+ Points

Pavie Decesse 1998, 0.75L
from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"The 1998 Pavie Decesse is medium to deep garnet-brick in color and explodes with fabulous plum pudding, prunes, blackberry preserves and blueberry pie notes with hints of smoked meats, garrigue, dusty soil, cast iron pan and star anise with dried roses and cinnamon stick wafts. Full-bodied, concentrated and packed with rich exotic spice and black fruit preserves layers, it has loads of mineral and meat sparks and a very, very long, layered finish. Incredible!" Wine Advocate 96 Points

"What glorious aroma. It's so clean and focused, with crushed raspberry and blackberry on the nose and hints of oak barrels. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and lots of fruit. Big and powerful and very young. Give it time; it's getting better and better." Wine Spectator 93 Points

Smith Haut Lafitte 2009, 0.75L
from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux

"The finest wine ever made by proprietors Daniel and Florence Cathiard, the 2009 Smith-Haut-Lafitte exhibits an opaque blue/purple color in addition to a glorious nose of acacia flowers, licorice, charcoal, blueberries, black raspberries, lead pencil shavings and incense. This massive, extraordinarily rich, unctuously textured wine may be the most concentrated effort produced to date, although the 2000, 2005 and 2010 are nearly as prodigious. A gorgeous expression of Pessac-Leognan with sweet tannin, emerging charm and delicacy, and considerable power, depth, richness and authority. . ." 100 Points Robert M. Parker Jr.

Vieux Château Certan 2011, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Cabernet Sauvignon from Pomerol, Bordeaux

""The Vieux Château Certan was cropped between 6th and 7th of September and from 14th until 20th September. That's what you'll read everywhere, although I was filming Alexandre when he was picking the final Cabernet around the 29th September! Cropped at 37hl/ha, it is a blend of 70% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon and (yay!) 29% Cabernet Franc. It delivers 13.6 degrees alcohol with a total acidity of 3.5gms/L and an IPT of 83. After the Cabernet Franc-less 2009 and 2010, this is more what I consider to be a classic VCC nose and as Alexandre, unlike those previous vintages that gives you everything up front, this is far more intellectual and enigmatic with hints of mineral laden fruit, limestone and small dark cherries. It is beautifully defined yet distant. The palate is succinctly balanced with crisp acidity, exceptional balance and superb backbone. There is an undercurrent of masculinity, a saline tincture, crushed stone and a touch of dried herbs and yet these are just fleeting hints. It has enormous length and it is one of the very few that could be on the same ethereal plateau as the 2009 and 2010 and perhaps one day ... even better. Tasted April 2012." 96-98 Points Neal Martin

d'Yquem 2007, 0.375L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

“Tasted single blind against its peers. Under blind conditions, the Yquem 2007 shines like a diamond. Nevertheless, it is initially rather taciturn on the nose, eventually opening up beautifully with touches of lemon curd, Mirabelle, and clear honey. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine definition and there seems to be a great deal of energy and vigor dispensed for your pleasure. There is such race and nervosity, and then that finish just purrs with harmony and focus. This Yquem feels just so alive and vivacious, yet there is an effortless quality here that is unmatched by its peers.” Wine Advocate 98 Points #199 Dec 2011

“Pale gold. Knockout nose of mirabelle, pineapple, spices and honey. Dense and thick but with racy acidity leavening the wine's liqueur-like flavors of peach, apricot and pineapple and imbuing it with superb energy. With aeration, this showed captivating notes of vanilla, toast and fresh and exotic herbs, plus a saline aspect on the very long finish. Still an infant, but already boasts terrific cut and purity of fruit. Director Pierre Lurton was thrilled to have a large quantity of wine at this high level of quality.” Vinous 95-98 Points

“Intense, with a wide range of maple, hazelnut-singed piecrust and apple crumble notes, all offset beautifully by a taut orange zest accent that imparts tension and length to balance the broad, rich core. Ends with a viscous feel and lingering energy.” Wine Spectator 96 Points

“Medium gold, already quite evolved. Heady stone fruits and honey on the nose, with generous fruit. Very sweet and succulent but there's fine acidity to balance the palate, which has beguiling sweetness. Very long, with a minty finish, but a tad evolved for a young Yquem.” Decanter 96 Points

d'Yquem 2010, 0.375L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

"The 2010 Château d’Yquem is an utterly stunning young wine and a very worthy follow-up to the magical wine produced at this estate in 2009. The bouquet is deep, complex and flat out brilliant, as it soars from the glass in a celestial mélange of pineapple, tangerines, a touch of passion fruit, honeycomb, beautifully complex and chalky soil tones, spring flowers and a very gentle touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, suave and utterly seamless, with great mid-palate depth, bright acids and surreal length and grip on the dancing and very intensely flavored finish. The 2010 d’Yquem is not quite as ethereally complex at this stage as the hauntingly beautiful 2009, but in terms of sheer quality, it seems likely to be every bit as profound." John Gilman 98+ Points

“Stunningly rich in character, a wine with great power to go with its acidity and sweetness. It is dense, powerful and concentrated powered by honey and by spice from the wood. The finish has dried apricots, very aromatic.” Wine Enthusiast 96-98 Points

“Deep yellow with a golden tinge. Intense aromas of very ripe tropical fruit, beeswax, honey and raisin are lifted by a strong mineral edge. Very fresh, rich and sweet on entry, then extremely light on its feet, with refined flavors of ripe citrus, mango, papaya, honey and saffron complicated by tangy botrytis. A very bright and focused Yquem, with lively acidity and a long, smooth, floral finish. Boasts impeccable balance and lovely precision. This terrific Yquem is very stylish but less massively opulent than vintages like 1989 and 1983.” Vinous 95-98 Points

“Rather restrained now, showing terrific purity and precision, with dried pineapple, persimmon and mango notes, offset by racy honeysuckle, white peach and chamomile hints. The extremely long finish sails on, switching to yet another spectrum, with green almond, green plum and coconut accents. A thread of quinine stitches this up at the very end.” Wine Spectator 96 Points

“This is a super balanced and racy Yquem with nuts. light pineapple and apple character. Full and dense but bright and fresh. Love the spicy botrytis with light apple tart and nuts on the finish…” James Suckling 94-95 Points

d'Yquem 2013, 0.75L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

*This bottle has wine stained label

“Bright aromas of sliced mangoes, papaya, botrytis, and lemon follow through to a full body. Medium sweet with a phenolic palate that gives the wine structure and beauty. Electric acidity and freshness combined with impressive energy and length. A strict selection was made. 40% of the production was destined to the grand vin. About 80,000 bottles made. This is 70% semillion and 30% sauvignon blanc.” James Suckling 98 Points

“Lightly toasted marshmallow and macadamia nut aromas lead the way, followed by incredibly juicy mirabelle plum, green fig, and glazed pear and peach flavors. As big as this is, there are still plenty of honeysuckle, quinine and chamomile notes kicking the finish into yet another gear. This has purity and length to burn, with decades more to go.” Wine Spectator 98 Points

“Firstly, you notice the color, which is a touch deeper than recent vintages at this stage. The bouquet is quite honeyed and rich for Yquem at this early juncture, with subtle scents of peach skin, white flowers, and a puff of chalk and frangipane. The palate is viscous on the entry, all about the texture at first, coating the mouth with luscious botrytized fruit. There are touches of Seville orange marmalade, fresh apricot, a hint of spice and passion fruit. This is imbued with impressive depth and weight, perhaps an Yquem that is determined to make an impression after last year-s absence. It might not possess the finesse of a top flight Yquem, but it has immense power and persistency.” Wine Advocate 95-97 Points

Arlaud Clos de la Roche 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Morey St. Denis, Burgundy

“Medium red. Aromas of strawberry, raspberry, flowers and spices. Juicy on entry, then suave and light on its feet in the middle, with dense red berry flavors accented by white pepper, mint and flowers. This is a live wire in the mouth but it's also seamless and refined. The very subtle, slowly mounting finish displays a touch of medicinal bitterness that stimulates the salivary glands. Arlaud noted that his grand cru vineyards yielded 30 to 32 hectoliters per hectare in 2015, which he described as good for a dry year and "better balanced as a result." The berries were small in 2015 but not nearly as tiny as those in 2003, when the same vineyards produced barely 20 hectoliters per hectare.” Vinous 93-95 Points

“The 2015 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has an expressive bouquet with vibrant raspberry and wild strawberry scents, a touch of gravel and granite developing with continued aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a candied opening, plenty of blood orange and even tangerine permeating the black fruit with a sweet, opulent finish that would benefit from just a tad more restraint. Good potential though and there seems to be a budding sense of joie de vivre.” Wine Advocate 92-94 Points

“Reduction flattens the nose. Otherwise there is excellent punch to the bigger, richer and more muscular flavors that possess a supple mid-palate thanks to the abundance of tannin-buffering dry extract that also coats the mouth on the focused, serious and slightly austere finish. This too is going to require a certain amount of patience.” Allen Meadows - Burghound 91-94 Points

Chandon de Briailles Corton Charlemagne 2014, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Aloxe Corton, Burgundy

"A classic nose of green apple, citrus peel, white fruit and wet stone introduces racy, ultra-intense and almost aggressively mineral-driven flavors that don't possess the sheer weight and power of the Corton-Blanc but are a good deal finer and with better delineation on the hugely long finish. This will definitely need a few years to flesh out and develop more depth but everything appears to be present to permit that to happen." Burghound 93 points.

Chandon de Briailles Corton-Clos du Roi 2014, 0.75L

". . . there is a lovely vibrancy and freshness in the mouth with plenty of sauvage character present on the velvety and caressing big-bodied and muscular flavors that coat the mouth thanks to the abundance of dry extract that also serves to buffer the very firm tannins on the moderately austere, serious and hugely long finish. As good as this is though it's not clear at this very early juncture whether it will ultimately surpass the Bressandes. Domaine Méo-Camuzet Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Murgers 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Nuits St. Georges, Burgundy

"The 2015 Murgers chez Méo is one of the ripest premier crus in the cellar this year, coming at a full 13.9 percent octane, but it shows absolutely no signs of sur maturité on either the nose or the palate. The bouquet is pure, complex and flamboyant, as it offers up scents of sappy black cherries and dark berries, espresso, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, gamebird and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with fine-grained tannins, superb focus and grip and a very, very long, vibrant and utterly refined finish. I remember well drinking the 1989 and 1990 Méo-Camuzet wines in their youth and this is remarkably similar!" 94 Points John Gilman, View From the Cellar

Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Morey St. Denis, Burgundy

“This is such a perfumed wine with deceptively soft tannins and great fruit. The acidity is classic for the vintage, with raspberries and intense freshness at the end. It has a fine line of tannins and a life that will go far.” Wine Enthusiast 96 Points

“The 2014 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru is matured in 50% new oak and is 100% whole bunch fruit. It is blessed with a winsome bouquet. As usual, there is something very natural, unimposing and refined on the nose: blackberry and briary, a hint of graphite, a subtle leafiness maybe, and yet delineated and very pure. The palate is lively and energetic with crisp tannin, black rather than red fruit, linear and very classic in style with what you might call a "cool" marine-influenced finish that has fine salinity. What a great Clos des Lambrays that will put a smile on the face of those that adore refined Burgundy.” Wine Advocate 93-95 Points

“Spicy, exuding sandalwood, nutmeg, vanilla, floral and wild cherry flavors. Silky in texture and firmly structured. Accents of bay leaf and green olive seep into the mix as this fans out on the long aftertaste.” Wine Spectator 94 Points

“Medium red. Highly complex, aromatic nose combines raspberry, underbrush, flowers and spices. Juicy, energetic and mineral-driven, if a bit youthfully imploded (and still affected by the bottling). Not a fat wine but with its flavors of red berries, mocha, earth and brown spices it's an essence of Morey-Saint-Denis. The acids and tannins are not at all aggressive, which should give this grand cru relatively early accessibility.” Vinous 92 Points

“Some evidence of new oak and drive here. Edgy with some nuttiness. Lots of savour and tight build. One of the most youthful 2014s.” Jancis Robinson 17+ Points

Frédéric Esmonin Ruchottes-Chambertin 2015, 1.5L
Pinor Noir from Gevrey Chambertin, Burgundy

“Complex, ripe, soil-driven scents of black raspberry, smoke and underbrush. Utterly seamless and sweet on the palate, conveying a noble texture to its flavors of dark berries, crushed rock and smoke. There's something Musigny-like here, and André Esmonin notes that the rocky, sandy soil is not unlike that of Musigny. More harmonious today than the Mazy-Chambertin, finishing with fine-grained tannins and outstanding subtle rising length. Left behind a captivating floral perfume in the empty glass. The yield here was 32 hectoliters per hectare in 2015, according to Frédéric Esmonin.” 94 Points Stephen Tanzer

Hudelot-Noëllat Clos de Vougeot 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Vougeot, Burgundy

"The Clos Vougeot was the very last wine to finish up its malo and there was still a hint of CO2 on the backend of the wine. With a bit of swirling in the glass the wine blossoms very nicely to offer up a lovely aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, gamebird, woodsmoke, a very complex base of soil, violets, cocoa and a touch of cedary wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very elegant in profile out of the blocks, with a superb core of pure fruit, ripe tannins and a very long, transparent and classy finish. Hudelot-Noëllat Romanée-Saint-Vivant 2013, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Vosne Romanee, Burgundy

"The 2013 Romanée-St.-Vivant from Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat was another late malo finisher and the wine was still on the grumpy side at the time of my visit, with a fairly expressive nose currently coupled to an out of sorts palate impression, but this will clearly be outstanding. The bouquet offers up a fabulous constellation of raspberries, cherries, blood orange, beautiful spice tones, lavender, complex soil nuances, fresh nutmeg and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure and quite poised (despite its grumpy nature at the time of my visit), with fine mid-palate depth, nascently complexity, ripe tannins and superb length and grip on the tangy finish. This is going to be very, very special when it reaches its zenith." John Gilman 95-97

"The 2013 Romanée Saint Vivant Grand Cru has a gorgeous bouquet with vibrant red berry fruit, wilted rose petals, a touch of lavender coming through with time. There is real vigor and generosity here. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a firm structure. There is wonderful depth and body that forms the foundation of this wine, coming across a little more masculine than the 2014, exerting a firm grip with a slightly curmudgeonly finish that just needs time to mellow. This is excellent."Wine Advocate 95 points.

“Deep red with ruby highlights. Sexy aromas and flavors of primary dark berries, black raspberry and cocoa powder complicated by spicy oak tones. Thick yet lively on entry; a youthfully imploded but utterly seamless wine with outstanding energy and depth. For all its density, this tactile, saline wine shows a magically light touch. Really builds and lingers on the superb rising finish, which features noble tannins. Still a baby, this grand cru has a great future.Stephen Tanzer 94+ points.

Hudelot-Noëllat Romanée-Saint-Vivant 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Vosne Romanee, Burgundy

“The 2014 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru was tasted from a one-year-old barrel, though the final blend will include 50% new oak. It has a beautifully defined bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and a hint of fig, somehow effortless and wonderfully transparent. The palate is medium-bodied with sensual, quite ripe tannins. There is good volume here, impressive density and yet the overriding feeling is one of refinement. Then just on the finish there is something spicy, almost earthy, as it gently fans out. This is an exquisite Romanée-Saint-Vivant in the making.” Wine Advocate 94-96 Points

“Deep, dark red. Brooding, youthfully medicinal aromas of red cherry, dark berries, mocha and cocoa powder. Samuel Billaud Chablis Bougros 2015, 1.5L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"The 2015 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros has a splendid bouquet . . . . There is real delineation and poise here, with walnut and smoke emerging with time and struck flint emerging later. The palate is well defined with a fine bead of acidity (although the acidity level is lower than in Blanchot). Touches of blackcurrant leaf and quince dovetail into a very energetic finish that lingers for over a minute. Superb . . . . Through his contacts, there is also an expansion of his portfolio so that from the 2015 vintage he now has a full complement of six grand crus to his name. I asked Samuel about the 2016 vintage. “The average yield was between 15 and 30 hectoliters per hectare, around half the normal production . . . . This was a fantastic set of wines from Billaud  . . . . One can speculate whether he would have been able to achieve such quality had he still vinified the wines in the temporary facility he occupied beforehand—I think not. That should take nothing away from a skilled and experienced winemaker whose approach I think is spot on, in particular his assiduous use of used barrels that do not impede upon the terroir expression and a judicious use of reduction that lends complexity without dictating the taste. The 2015s and 2016s might have been born under trying circumstances, but with the new winery up and running, who knows what brilliant wines lie around the corner." 93 Points Wine Advocate

Y. Clerget Volnay Clos du Verseuil 2016, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Burgundy

"Bright red-ruby. Musky, complex soil tones along with black cherry and mocha on the nose. Quite suave and silky on entry, conveying a relaxed quality (production here was 42 hectoliters per hectare) but no shortage of concentration. In fact, this is a wonderfully classy, supple wine with sexy sweetness and rocky energy (the mother rock is close to the surface here). Soil and spice notes add flavor interest. Consistent from start to finish, this quintessential, refined Volnay spreads out on the back end to saturate the mouth, with its tannins fully buffered by fruit." Vinous 92-94 Points

"Much more discreet, if not invisible, wood sets off pure, cool and restrained aromas of red currant, raspberry and soft floral wisps. There is really lovely vibrancy to the detailed, sleek and refined medium weight flavors that brim with both minerality and dry extract that serves to buffer the distinctly firm tannic spine shaping the lingering and beautifully balanced finale. This too is really quite good and worth considering." Burghound 91-93 Points

Bollinger R.D. 2004, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne

*Champagne of the Year* -"Time has graced this wine, proving the value of Bollinger’s policy of long aging on the lees followed by prompt release after disgorgement. This RD (Recently Disgorged) 2004 is a joyous wine, staunch, cold and powerful at first, transforming to fresh fruit shadowed by darker tones of barrel fermentation. As it opens in the glass, revealing racy energy, a range of floral pear and apple flavors emerge, resonant with a sense of limestone capturing the sun and reflecting it back in pale power. Enjoy this over the course of an evening as its presence shifts, providing varied perspectives on a great Champagne." 98 Points Wine & Spirits

"Fermented in oak barrels and aged under natural corks for almost 13 years, Bollinger's 2004 R. D. Extra Brut blends 66% Pinot Noir with 34% Chardonnay from 16 crus, 88% of which are classified as Grand Cru. The wine opens with a very clear, deep, rich and aromatic but also pure and mineral-fresh nose of crushed rocks, cherries, brioche, pain aux raisin, white nougat, chalk and ripe, yellow-fleshed fruits. Highly elegant and complex on the weightless yet persistent and salty palate, this is an intense, densely woven, firmly structured yet elegant, beautifully refined and refreshing "recent disgorgement" (February 2018) that reveals just a kiss of oxidative flavors that adds even more complexity. A great Champagne on its way to improve over many years in the bottle. Tasted June 2018." 97 Points Robert Parker

Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2009, 0.75L

"Cristal is a cuvée made with grapes from the Grands Crus of Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Cotes des Blancs with the wine sitting on the lees for around six years before aging for eight months in the bottle after it was disgorged, with a dosage of 8g/l. In the glass the wine has a luminous golden color and an intense and fresh aroma from the fullness of the fruit with notes of citrus, ripe passion fruit, star anise and gooseberry, followed by a gourmandize sensation of hazelnut butter and toasted barley with a saline hint that will return in the flavor but which in the nose is a cloud of chalk. Philipponnat Clos de Goisses Extra Brut 2009, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Chardonnay from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Champagne

"The 2009 Clos des Goisses, tasted from a trial disgorgement, is more than a worthy follow up to the stunning 2008. Bright, focused and powerful, with terrific freshness for the year, the 2009 is pure sensuality. To be sure, there is plenty of vintage 2009 radiance to the citrus, orchard fruit and pastry flavors, but the blocked-malo style helps the wine retain plenty of verve. The 2009 is 61% Pinot Noir and 39% Chardonnay, with no malolactic fermentation. Charles Philipponnat chose to scale down the number of lots fermented in oak to 37% in order to temper some of the natural richness of the year. Gaja Costa Russi 2011, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Langhe, Piedmont

"Brilliant, intense ruby with pronounced garnet highlights. Open on the nose with rich notes of ripe cherry and raspberry followed by ripe watermelon in the background. Splendor on the palate: first shows a lot of red berry fruit and a fine luster, then opens up with polished, dense tannins and finishes with firm persistence and a long finish." 96 Points Falstaff Magazin

“The 2011 Costa Russi delivers youthfulness and brightness with bold cherry fruit flavors, cassis, spice and mild cola. The wine excels in in the mouth where it shows a great degree of roundness and suppleness. Costa Russi is Nebbiolo with a tiny addition of Barbera.” 94 Points Wine Advocate

“Round, supple and succulent, the 2011 Costa Russi is laced with dark red cherry, plum, mocha, cloves and new leather. The classic Costa Russi personality comes through in a soft, gracious wine with tons of near and medium-term appeal. The Costa Russi captures an attractive middle ground between the ripe, pliant style of the year and the medium bodied grace of Nebbiolo. I expect the 2011 will offer a long and broad drinking window of pure pleasure. Although Costa Russi is often the most precocious of Gaja's single-vineyard wines, it is the last site to be picked.” 94 Points Vinous

Gaja Sperss 2011, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

“With fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, the 2011 Langhe Sperss is a wine of profound beauty. This is a velvety and caressing expression with dark fruit layers followed by kirsch, cassis, leather, balsam herb and white truffle. The Gaja family decided to move their bottling date forward in order to preserve the integrity and freshness of fruit in this warm vintage. This move has helped to avoid overripe sensations. In fact, Langhe Sperss seems fresh and tonic. This bodes exceptionally well for its aging potential.” 95 Points Wine Advocate

“Aromas of menthol, tobacco, juicy black fruit, grilled herb and a whiff of truffle unfold in the glass. Made with Nebbiolo from the firm's Serralunga holdings and a drop of Barbera, it has a pristine palate that delivers dark black cherry, licorice and black pepper alongside firm but fine tannins.” 95 Points Wine Enthusiast

“Love the aromas of plums, flowers and dried mushroom here. Wet soil and lavender too. Full body, firm tannins and a long and delicious finish. The combination of delicious fruit and velvety textured tannins gives this wine form and structure.” 94 Points James Suckling

“A mix of licorice, black cherry, vanilla, spice and tobacco aromas and flavors marks this intense red, which stays fresh and long, showing balance overall.” 93 Points Wine Spectator

“A dark, voluptuous beauty, the 2011 Sperss is wonderfully expressive and open today. Sandrone Barolo Aleste 2013, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

“The 2013 Barolo Aleste is a wine of striking purity and nuance. It is also one of the most finessed, vivid young Barolos I have ever tasted from Sandrone. The translucence of Nebbiolo comes through loud and clear. Freshly cut flowers, mint and finely cut fruit are some of the signatures. This wine has developed beautifully in recent vintages as the oak influence is less than it was just a few years ago. Beams of tannin and bright, salivating acidity add finesse to this translucent, exceptional Barolo. Aleste is the new name Sandrone is using for the Barolo formerly known as Cannubi Boschis.” Vinous 97+ Points

“Formerly known as Barolo Cannubi Boschis (the last vintage by that name was 2012), the 2013 Barolo Aleste has been renamed to honor the youngest generation of the Sandrone family, Alessia and Stefano. The wine name Aleste takes the first three letters from each grandchild's name. The move represents the culmination of more than 50 harvests completed by this legendary winemaker and his desire to pass on the torch. His grandchildren are at different points in their respective viticulture and enology university studies. Now under a different name, the wine obviously shows the same delicate floral nuances that you get with this wine (fruit from Cannubi is always harvested first). This is a complete and exciting wine with delicate notes of wild berry and smoke backed by licorice and blue flower.” Wine Advocate 97 Points

“Formerly known as Cannubi Boschis, this impressive wine boasts alluring aromas of crushed raspberry, baking spice, chopped mint, violet and woodland berry. The savory elegant palate delivers succulent Marasca cherry, strawberry compote, cinnamon, licorice and a hint of coffee. Fine-grained tannins and bright acidity provide polished support and great balance.” Wine Enthusiast 97 Points

Lisini Brunello di Montalcino 2013, 1.5L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

"Exuding cherry, strawberry and floral flavors tinged with iron, earth and spice notes, this ripe red is elegant in profile, tightly wound and deftly balanced, ending with a kick of fruit, spice and mineral elements." Wine Spectator 96 Points

"Fruity aromas of wild red berry align with earthy notes of forest floor, new leather and fragrant purple flower. The smooth ripe palate offers juicy Morello cherry, star anise, orange zest and an earthy hint of game. It's savory and loaded with personality." Wine Enthusiast 94 Points

"Lisini's 2013 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a delightful appearance that sees shades of garnet and dark ruby blend into one. The bouquet is sprightly and buoyant, thanks to a pretty ensemble of wild berry, licorice and grilled herb aromas. Those are mixed with heavier background tones of spice and leather. There is also a noticeable floral note of wild rose and dried jasmine. This is a silky and smooth Brunello with a hint of fresh acidity on the close." Wine Advocate 93 Points

"Bright medium red. Spicy, floral perfumes of red cherry, red currant, licorice and minty herbs. At once juicy and lively, but also dense and energetic; bright, harmonious acidity nicely frames the cool flavors of red currant, spicy plum and minty herbs. This refined Brunello boasts outstanding tension, midpalate energy and focus. Finishes with polished tannins and noteworthy floral lift." Vinous 93 Points

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Ornellaia 2015, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Bolgheri Superiore, Tuscany

"The 2015 Ornellaia is a dream wine with magnificent balance. All the elements are in the right place. In most vintages, Ornellaia needs time to fully come together, but the 2015 is just impeccable, even in the early going. The warm vintage notwithstanding, winemaker Axel Heinz crafted and Ornellaia is more about finesse and power. The potent, bruising tannins Ornellaia can show as a young wine are nowhere to be found. Bright raspberry jam, mint, white flowers and pomegranate are some of the many notes that punctuate the finish in a memorable Ornellaia that will go down among the great vintages produced at this reference-point estate." 98 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Bodegas Tradición Amontillado Viejisimo NV, 0.375L
Palomino from Jerez, Andalucía

"The NV Amontillado Viejísimo Tradición is estimated to be over 80 years old on average, as it's a blend of vintages in a classical solera system. The name is still not clear; it could be called Amontillado Extra Viejo Tradición VORS but once opened it's a bit redundant to say that it's a VORS, meaning over 30 years old when the wine is clearly much, much older than that. Either way, it is a new, extremely old Amontillado. When Sherries are this old they tend to lose the character of any one style. It's not clear whether they are Amontillado, Palo Cortado or even Oloroso since the wine gets so concentrated and powerful that most of the time you can only say they are 'vino viejo', old wines. This wine is an exceptional case. It was sourced from an Almacenista from Sanlúcar, so most likely it was a Manzanilla in its early days. It's fine, built like a wardrobe with everything in large doses, but all of it in place and in balance. It has plenty of balsamic, cigar ash, peat, smoky aromas with some notes of oak coming through with time in the glass. It's sharp, extreme, really salty, with a clear marine, Sanlúcar origin. It was bottled unfiltered at 24,87% alcohol and over 3 grams of sugar, but it feels completely dry, the extreme age concentrates everything. . ." 99 Points Wine Advocate

Bodegas Tradición Oloroso Añada 1975, 0.75L
Palomino from Jerez, Andalucía

"There is one more bottling of the 1975 Oloroso Tradición Añada from bota number one of the seven they still have from 1975. They filled 275 bottles, numbered and marked as L 1/17 (lot number one from 2017) in May 2017. The wine was released in September 2017. The single-harvest wines show more development than the soleras and they tend to have a more marked oxidative character. There are tons of hazelnuts, a spirity note and a volatile hint. The nose feels like an Oloroso but the palate has an unusual finesse, great freshness and could be considered a Palo Cortado by many, perfectly integrated and subtle. These wines are almost indestructible, but finding a bottle is already a challenge. . ." 95 Points Wine Advocate

Arcudi Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain Black Sears Vineyard 2013, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain, California

ON SALE! Original Price: $149.99

"Coming from the famed Black Sears Vineyard, better known for its black bear as well as old vine Zinfandel, this is an interesting Cabernet Sauvignon from Tony Arcudi, who worked for Michel Chapoutier and Heidi Barrett before starting his own brand. His 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Sears Vineyard spent 18 months in 50% new French oak. It is a gorgeous, flowery wine with loads of graphite, mulberry and blackberry followed by some spicy oak, a deep, rich, full-bodied mouthfeel, some supple tannins and a heady, lush finish." Robert Parker 95 Points.

“Deep, inky and powerful, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Sears Vineyard oozes with class and intensity. This is one of the more voluptuous, forward 2013 Cabernets readers will come across. The flavors are bold and intense, but all the elements are in the right place. In this vintage, winemaker Tony Arcudi pressed early to avoid overextracting. Full throttle and opulent to the core, the 2013 needs a few years in bottle to drop some baby fat. Chocolate, mocha, black cherries, new leather and smoke add the closing shades of complexity as this powerful Cabernet shows off its distinctive personality.” Vinous 94 Points

"The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is dense, pliant and wonderfully expressive. Ric Forman's wines are always on the restrained side, but the 2015 packs a good bit of punch. Sweet red cherry, raspberry, sage, mint, and rose petal overtones all add to the wine's precision and nuance. In 2015, Forman took in fruit from Thorevilos, which he co-manages with David Abreu, but ultimately decided to add that juice to the Cabernet Sauvignon rather than bottle it separately. These wines are still in cask and probably won’t be bottled until sometime in 2017. Some quick notes on them. The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Kayli Morgan will be delicious when released, as it often is. I suspect that this, like the Few and Far Between, as well as the Ark, will spend 32 months in cask. But the élevage and meticulous attention to detail by Woodbridge seems to result in wines that never show much wood. Joseph Phelps Insignia 2007, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"Aged 24 months in new French oak, this infant 2007 exhibits an inky/purple color along with notes of graphite, spring flowers and smoky oak. This full-bodied, classic Insignia reveals fabulous depth, ripeness, texture, viscosity and richness. Still young and unformed, it should evolve for 25 or more years.  Perhaps I should just go ahead and give this 2007 a three-digit score as it is a profoundly great Cabernet Sauvignon-based effort. The production was 13,500 cases of this 100% estate fruit blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. The alcohol came in at 14.5%. The growing season was nearly ideal, with early bud break, generous flowering, a bountiful crop size, and summer weather that was warm and dry with no significant heat spikes. According to the Phelps winemaking team, the cluster grape weights in 2007 came in 23-45% lower than average, which surprised everyone. However, the fruit quality was one of the finest they had ever seen. The result is one of the top Insignias yet produced." 99 Points Robert M. Parker Jr.

Kistler Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse Vineyard 2015, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Sonoma Coast, California

"The 2015 Chardonnay Trenton Roadhouse is deep, powerful and quite expressive, with a distinctive stony character that marks the mid-palate. Orchard fruit and floral notes appear later, but the Trenton Roadhouse is defined by its center of minerality and savory notes that dominate over the more obvious expression of fruit that is found in some of the other wines." 93 Points Antonio Galloni

Mayacamas Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Mt. Veeder, California

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a huge, dark wine. Virile, imposing and massively structured in the glass, the 2013 is a wine for readers who can be patient. The flavors are dark, bold and incisive, with potent tannins and a real feeling of gravitas to back things up. Black cherry, game, smoke, gravel and licorice add to an impression of brooding intensity. In many ways, the 2013 reminds me of some of the great wines of the 1970s in its dark, imposing personality.” 97 Points Antonio Galloni

"This is slightly more opulent than other vintages of Mayacamas with tile, slate, dark fruits and flowers such as roses. Full body, firm and luscious tannins. Lots of sage and lavender undertones. Best ever from here? First wine from new owners. Reserved extravagance. 97 Points James Suckling

Maybach Cabernet Sauvignon Materium Weitz Vineyard 2014, 0.375L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, California

"The flagship, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Materium, represents 560 cases and achieved 14.8% alcohol after aging in 90% new Taransaud and Darnajou casks. Remarkably, the wine matches the perfect 2013, with extraordinary fragrance of blueberry, blackberry, forest floor, truffle, spring flowers and background barbecue smoke followed by a thick, unctuously textured, juicy, but incredibly well-balanced, intense wine. This is built like a skyscraper with enormous quantities of blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit, well-integrated acidity and sweet, gentle tannins. This is an extraordinary effort from Maybach that can be drunk now or cellared for up to 30 or more years." Robert Parker 100 points.

"One of the greatest wines in the vintage is the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Materium which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a higher elevation hillside vineyard in Oakville that was raised in 90% new French oak barrels. Just magical stuff that has incredible aromatics of crème de cassis, white flowers, huge minerality, violets, and scorched earth. This is followed by a massive, opulent, yet weightless wine that has off the charts purity of fruit, fine, fine tannin, perfect balance, and a finish that won’t quit. "Composed of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 6% Merlot and 2% Malbec, Opus One's 2015 Proprietary Red Wine is truly an iron fist in a velvet glove, delivering a powerhouse of flavors and structure with a seductively plush texture. It opens with a deep garnet-purple color and wonderfully spicy notes of cinnamon stick, cloves and fenugreek with a core of cherry preserves, redcurrant jelly, blackberry pie and warm plums plus hints of camphor, lavender and cigar box. Full-bodied, rich and bold in the mouth, it fills the palate with exotic spice-laced black and red fruits, framed by firm, beautifully ripe, grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing with epic persistence. Ovid Proprietary Red Experiment P5.5 2015, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Napa Valley, California

"This Experiment is a furtherance of the thesis explored with the 2014 Experiment H3.4. With the H3.4 we wanted to investigate what would happen if we used larger 300L barrels rather than the standard 225L. Would the wines be fresher? Would they offer greater purity? What if we went even bigger? For the 2015 Experiment P5.5, we decided to age the wines in the standard 225L barrels for the first year and then blend and transfer the wines to 500L puncheons for the second year. The resulting wine is the best of both worlds. It has the freshness and vibrancy that we get from the larger formats while maintaining the integration and evolution of the smaller barrels. Dense and lush, this wine exhibits notes of blackberry, cola, dark cherry, plum, dried red tobacco, leather, pen ink, cocoa, orange rind and caramel. The burnished palate is fresh and lively, convincingly expressing the intrigue of this unconventional approach. " Austin Peterson, OVID

Schrader Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard T6 2015, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, California

"All of the 2015s will be reviewed from bottle next year, but basically the yields were not off as much at Schrader as some other estates, the alcohol levels were relatively modest ranging between 14.3% and 14.5%. Characteristic of this vintage, there is magnificent fat, sucrosity and thickness on display in all of these wines. They are inky black/purple and seemingly low in acidity, but according to Thomas Rivers Brown the acids were quite sound and healthy. The tannins are present, but so well-disguised by the high levels of glycerin and sucrosity that they are not that noticeable. Several of these wines, including the Schrader, CCS, T6 and LPV have the potential for perfect scores. These will be thrilling to taste next year and will continue the incredible legacy that Schrader Cellars has developed over the years." 96-100 Points Robert M. Parker Jr.

Seven Stones Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"The final blend of the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Aaron Potts is the guru behind the winemaking and he definitely knows how to get the most out of this special terroir. Wonderful aromatics of blackberry, blackcurrant, sweet cherries, unsmoked cigar tobacco and graphite jump from the glass of this opaque purple wine. The vineyard is planted in the white Tufa volcanic rock of the region. Thick, opaque purple color to the rim, the wine is full-bodied, but has a sumptuous texture with adequate acidity and finely grained, integrated tannin. Like so many of the top 2014s, it is sexy, irresistible already, should drink well young and evolve for 20-25 or more years. This is a brilliant wine. High above the St. Helena hillsides, above the Meadowood Resort with an imposing view of the entire middle and southern Napa Valley floor and the Mayacamas Mountains to the west, this vineyard sits at an elevation of 700 to 800 feet." 98 Points Robert M. Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2014, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Helena, California

“Spottswoode 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is striking. Black cherry, plum, graphite, spice and menthol are some of the signatures. Intensely mineral and savory, the 2014 comes across as a slightly restrained version of the 2013. The flavor and tannin profiles are both quite similar, but the 2014 is a bit smaller-scaled in all of its dimensions. That is not a bad thing, as the 2014 will be ready to drink sooner. This is an impressive showing.” Vinous 96 Points

“Amazing burnt-orange and currant aromas with tar and lead pencil. Blackberries, too. Changes all the time. Mesmerizing. Full-bodied and powerful with super-polished tannins and a long and intense finish. The polished and fine tannins coat your mouth. Glorious. Needs three to four years to soften.” James Suckling 96 Points

“This wine shows oodles of fruit, blackcurrants, blueberries, black raspberries, charcoal, subtle oak and a full-bodied, inky, intense mouthfeel with a boatload of tannin, but the fruit is present to balance it out. This wine needs another several years of bottle age and, while not up to the levels of 2012 and 2013, it is a highly successful effort and capable of lasting 30-35 more years.” Wine Advocate 95+ Points

The Vineyardist Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Diamond Mountain District, California

"The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is flirting with perfection already. It is 100% estate Cabernet Sauvignon from clones 7, 33 and 337, and the harvest took place in late October. The wine was aged in 100% new French oak, of which three-fourths were Darnajou barrels and 25% Taransaud. Unfortunately, only 240 cases were produced. The wine is an absolutely spectacular Diamond Mountain Cabernet. Dense purple, with notes of charcoal, burning embers, licorice, blackberry and cassis, the wine hits the palate with a cascade of gorgeously pure fruit, a full-bodied opulence, but sweet tannin appears in the finish, giving the wine grip and delineation. It's pure perfection in Syrah, and the finest vintage of this cuvee ever made. As a bonus, it’s also the largest production Syrah they produce. Bravo!” Wine Advocate 100 Points

“Impressively well-built and expressive, with evocative raspberry and smoky bacon aromas and sleek, dynamic black cherry, crushed rock and green olive flavors that build momentum toward refined tannins.” Wine Enthusiast 95 Points

“The aromas of this wine leap from the glass, with notes of orange peel, potpourri, smoked meat, spice, fresh herb, stem, ash and plum. It's expressive, but still wound up. The flavors are focused, concentrated and savory, bringing a sense of intensity and richness but also lightness. The balance is exquisite.” Wine Enthusiast 94 Points

“Bright ruby-red. Multidimensional scents of black raspberry, raw green peppercorn, peat moss, whiskey, lilac, violet and wild herbs; plenty of stem complexity here. Juicy and a bit youthfully imploded in the mouth, conveying lovely definition and a light touch to its savory flavors of black raspberry, garrigue and lavender. Still a bit youthfully inky, and tight and firmly tannic on the long, salty, ultimately stylish aftertaste. Lovely precision and finesse here; while the wine is listed at a moderate 13.6% alcohol, there's nothing early-picked about this wine. Baron predicts that this will be best seven or eight years after the vintage, by which time it will be showing truffle and earth notes and less baby fat. The lightest and driest of this trio of vineyard-designated 2014 Syrahs: will it match the 2013 version with bottle age?” Vinous 93+ Points

Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2015, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Columbia Valley, Washington

"The flagship is the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon mostly from Champoux with the balance from Palengat and Wallula vineyards. Crème de cassis, graphite, black licorice, unsmoked tobacco, and hints of chocolate emerge from this beauty and it continues to gain depth and nuance with time in the glass. Full-bodied, deep, and layered with an incredible purity and elegance on the palate, it's already accessible but has more than enough tannin, depth, and balance to evolve for two decades or more." 99 Points Jeb Dunnuck
