Caroline Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chassagne Montrachet, Burgundy

"The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru is almost entirely from Champs Gain and Vergers. It has a clean and precise bouquet, quite focused, not powerful but nicely delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins that frame orchard fruit, bitter lemon and orange rind notes. Good weight and concentration here with quite a persistent and convincing finish. Good potential. This is my inaugural exploration of the wines of Caroline Morey, aka Pierre-Yves Colin’s ‘better half.’ The wines were inherited from her family and hewn from a different cloth, even though they have been made in the same winery in Chassagne since 2017. The one major difference compared to PYCM is that she uses slightly less new oak, around 20-25% instead of 30-35% - not to mention half-a-dozen reds. Readers should note that the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Village includes fruit from declassified Premier Crus from Les Caillerets and Chaumées. Pierre-Yves explains the approach to the reds: ‘The reds undergo little extraction, and Caroline did not pursue more colour or tannins; all the cuvées include 30% to 50% whole bunches with a maximum two-week cuvaison during which there are only two or three pigeage and a little remontage. There is also a shorter barrel maturation; they’re racked in October, blended in tank and bottled in January.’" 91-93 Neal Martin, Vinous

"A blend of Champgains and Vergers with a bare smidgin of Caillerets and Chaumées. The first two managed a good half crop after successful protection. Clear pale colour, the nose suggests fair weight without giving detail. Really very pretty on the nose, crisp limestone style, slightly saline, fresh and persistent." 91-93 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

Claude Dugat Gevrey Chambertin 2021, 0.75L
from Gevrey Chambertin, Burgundy

"The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a very delineated, vibrant bouquet with white tipped strawberry and cranberry aromas, cohesive with impressive vigour and finesse. The medium-bodied palate is supple on the entry, extremely well balanced, surprisingly spicy with a finish that fans out wonderfully. Simply, one of the best Gevrey Villages you will find in 2021. (Drink between 2025-2038)" 91-93 Neal Martin, Vinous.com

Fichet Meursault Chevalieres 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Meursault, Burgundy

"The 2020 Meursault Les Chevalières has a reserved but focused nose, requiring some coaxing but delivering satisfying citrus peel and light lemon thyme aromas. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut and fresh with impressive weight and persistence on the finish, hints of lemon sherbet on the aftertaste. Excellent. (Drink between 2023-2035)"91-93 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

"Cool and airy aromas of mineral reduction, citrus and a floral whiff are trimmed in admirably discreet wood influence. There is both good richness and intense to the ultra-pure, even crystalline, flavors that conclude in a chiseled, long and balanced finale. This is a classic Chevalières with its almost aggressive minerality and refined mouthfeel. In a word, lovely." 90-92 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound
