A. Mann Pinot Gris Grand Cru Hengst 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Gris from Alsace, Alsace

“The 2015 Pinot Gris Grand Cru Hengst is a gorgeously rich, intense and powerful Pinot with an oily texture, a vital acidity, great tension and length. Impressive.” Wine Advocate 93 Points

“Bright yellow with golden tinges. Perfumed aromas of guava, peach, minerals and sweet spices. Multilayered and suave, displaying a lovely sense of balance to the rich, long orchard and tropical fruit flavors. Finishes very clean and fresh, as well as a little sweet (29 g/L residual sugar and 5.1 g/L total acidity) and tannic; the hint of tannic bite is fairly typical of the Hengst due to its marly soils. Barthelmy likes the 2015 Pinot Gris Furstentum more in 2015, but for me it’s the other way around.” Vinous 91+ Points

Albert Mann Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Steingrubler 2015, 0.75L
Gewurztraminer from Alsace, Alsace

“Very ripe but precise and intense, with classic Gewurz flavors on the nose opens the 2015 Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Steingrubler, a powerful yet vital, precise and elegant wine full of tension and grip. Very stimulating its its purity and tension. The wine finished at 13.% alcohol and 37 grams of residual sugar, but you almost don't taste it!” Wine Advocate 93 Points

“Bright straw. Nuanced bergamot and candied orange peel on the nose, plus hints of cinnamon and white flowers. Bright, dense and pure, offering clean citrus and spicy honey flavors that are impeccably balanced (37 g/L residual sugar and 4.7 g/L total acidity). The finish is long and very precise. The Steingrubler always produces very delicate Gewürzes that lack the depth of the Furstentum, but are also at once refined and dainty - ideal for those who don’t like this variety’s powerful, often opulent personality. Very lovely wine.” Vinous 90+ Points

“Brilliant magenta. Aromas of fresh cherry and blueberry are complemented by suggestions of violet, licorice and spicecake. Stains the palate with appealingly sweet, spice-accented dark fruit and floral pastille flavors that smoothly meld concentration and vivacity. Shows excellent clarity and mineral lift on the subtly tannic finish, which leaves notes of bitter cherry and five-spice powder behind.” 93 Points Vinous

Potensac 2014, 1.5L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Médoc, Bordeaux

ON SALE! Original Price: $47.99

“It’s been a while since I had a Potensac like this. Aromatic, very structured and polished with currant character and wonderful length. Polished tannins. Exceptionally small production for this year.” James Suckling 91-92 Points

“With low yields after a hail storm, the wine is concentrated and dense. It has a touch of wood aging as well as dark black fruits. The tannins are firm in a wine that will age well over the medium term.” Wine Enthusiast 90 Points

“The 2014 Potensac offers striking intensity to match its bold, inviting personality. Blue and black stone fruit, grilled herbs, licorice and dark spices make a strong first impression. The Delon family makes a number of top-notch wines, and Potensac is arguably the hidden jewel in the range. Drink this exuberant Médoc over the next handful of years. The blend is 40% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.” Vinous 90 Points

Bitouzet-Prieur Meursault Les Charmes 2015, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Meursault, Burgundy

"The 2015 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru sports very slight reduction on the nose, but the terroir comes through: fine definition, scents of crushed stone and a little walnut, a subtle marine influence in the background. The palate is well defined with a crisp bead of acidity, saline in the mouth, with a pinch of lemongrass toward the finish. Very fine. There is good winemaking here, but it needs three or four more years. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting." 93 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2014, 0.75L
Grenache / Syrah from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône

"The 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape is a beautiful wine in the vintage, and Marc compares it to the 2012. I’m not sure I agree, but there’s no denying the quality in this 2014. Sporting a deep ruby color and terrific notes of blackberries, ground herbs, pepper and Provençal spice, it shows the more forward, charming nature of the vintage and is medium to full-bodied, pure and balanced." 93 Points Wine Advocate

Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Unique 2016, 0.75L
Grenache from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône

"Vivid ruby. Sharply focused black raspberry, cherry pit, potpourri and garrigue scents pick up a bright, smoky nuance with air. Nicely concentrated raspberry and floral pastille flavors are given spicy bite by a suggestion of white pepper. Fine-grained tannins come in slowly to add shape and grip to the strikingly long, vibrant, floral-driven finish. This is quite a graceful wine for the vintage, and while it should drink well young, it will also age well on its balance." 93 Points Vinous

Domaine des Pierres Seches (Sylvain Gauthier) Saint-Joseph 2016, 0.75L
Syrah from St. Joseph, Rhône

"Proprietor Sylvain Gauthier has turned out a terrific 2016 Saint Joseph, blended from several different granitic plots and aged in old barrels. Herbal, peppery, almost peppermint notes join with hints of dark chocolate and violets on the nose of this enchanting wine. On the palate, it's creamy and lush yet firms up nicely on the finish to suggest a decade or so of aging potential. This shows great purity and elegance, plus ample power." 93 Wine Advocate

Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 2011, 0.75L
Grenache from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône

“Beautiful in the vintage, the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee is a forward, perfumed example of the cuvee that has classic Pegau black fruits, tobacco leaf, pepper and leathery notes as well as medium to full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. Early-drinking by this estate’s standards, there’s nevertheless good mid-palate density and fine tannin. It should have 15 years or so of overall longevity.” Wine Advocate 93 Points

“Deep ruby. Ripe black and blue fruit aromas are complicated by potpourri, incense and licorice, with a smoky topnote. Sappy, focused dark berry and bitter cherry flavors are sharpened by juicy acidity and show very good depth. Lots of fruit here but there's good structure as well. Finishes sweet and long, with velvety tannins adding shape. As with the '12, there's a degree of elegance to this wine and less of the wild edge of the Pegaus of a few vintages back.” Vinous 92 Points

“This shows an enticing bay leaf note, with juicy blackberry and black currant fruit up front, followed by melted licorice and a tarry edge on the finish, underscored by a roasted alder accent. This has the friendly, racy fruit of the vintage, with some distinct character to boot.” Wine Spectator 93 Points

Marc Sorrel Hermitage Blanc Les Rocoules 2007, 0.75L
Marsanne / Rousanne from Hermitage, Rhône

"Light yellow-gold. Deep, smoky pit fruit aromas give way to spicy lemon and white peach scents with air, along with notes of green almond and spicecake. Round, fleshy nectarine and peach flavors stain the palate and are underscored by lively talc and citrus zest notes, with good mineral snap on the back. The almond quality repeats on the finish, which is broad, sappy and extremely long. Sorrel thinks that this will be a very long-lived wine and suggests leaving it alone until at least 2017." 93 Points Josh Raynolds, Vinous

Monsecco Gattinara 2011, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Gattinara, Piedmont

"The 2011 Gattinara is a super-classic wine laced with the aromas and flavors Nebbiolo shows with a bit of age. Sweet tobacco, dried flowers, dried cherry, menthol, orange peel and anise give the wine its aromatic presence. Firm tannins add drive through to the finish. Further time in bottle should help those tannins soften even more. Still, the 2011 is quite attractive today." Vinous 93 Points

Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco 2015, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, Piedmont

"I tasted this wine after bottling but before its commercial release. The 2015 Barbaresco will hit the market on September 1st. It was scheduled to be released in October, but because Produttori del Barbaresco is already out of stock of the 2014 Barbaresco, they decided to move this release up and shorten waiting times. I mention that because you definitely don't want to pop the cork too early. The 2015 vintage opens to a visibly darker color and thicker concentration compared to recent past vintages. Next to the upcoming 2016 and 2017 editions, we can expect 2015 to be the most fruit-forward of the three. You get dark tones of plum and blackberry with dry tannins at the rear." 93 Points Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Taylor Fladgate 20 Year Old Tawny Port NV, 0.75L
from Oporto, Douro

". . .On first taste, this was simply Taylor: big, concentrated and serious. It was all that and a bag of chips, but over a couple of day it also demonstrated far more elegance. It seemed arguably better balanced than the 10 year old Tawny this issue. Simply filling the mouth on first taste, this shows fine complexity for its age and it does everything else rather brilliantly. Succulent and inviting, it finishes with waves of concentrated flavors. The fruit remains lifted and and it has a bright, transparent feel. It is hard to resist, often seeming like a bit of an overachiever. It's not the best tawny Taylor's submitted this issue, but it might be the best intersection of quality and price."

The Rare Wine Co. Madeira Historic Series Baltimore Rainwater Special Reserve NV, 0.75L
Verdelho / Tinta Negra Mole from Madeira, Madeira

"I had the pleasure to try the Baltimore Rainwater bottling while visiting with Ricardo Diogo Freitas at Vinhos Barbeito, as I had not yet tried it here in the states. To give you some idea of how serious both Mannie Berk and Ricardo Diogo Freitas take this series of wines, the Rainwater is made from a blend . . . ! The very complex nose offers up a blend of fresh apricot, a touch of Myer lemon, lovely soil tones, a bit of briny ocean breeze and a nice topnote of green olive. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and very elegant, with a lovely core and excellent length and grip on the focused and very refined finish. Soft as rainwater, as the saying goes…." Raúl Pérez Bierzo Ultreia Saint Jacques 2017, 0.75L
Mencia from Bierzo, Castilla y León

"The clean, floral and 2017 Ultreia Saint Jacques comes mostly from old vineyards from different soils in Valtuille and Villadecanes fermented in stainless steel and oak vats with part of full clusters and matured in used barriques for one year. It's produced in a fresh and very drinkable way. This is one of the best values from Bierzo and Spain, and a great introduction to Bierzo. It's a more serious wine than what the wine was when it was first produced, fresh and elegant. It's very reliable and a great value."93 Points Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate

"A field blend of Mencia, Alicante Bouschet, Pan y Carne and some white varieties, fermented with natural yeast in old oak tanks using 100% stems and no temperature control. It undergoes malo in tank and then spends one year in old barrels. There's no remontage or pigeage, and he works without sulphites. This has bright, fresh blueberry and cranberry fruit with a rasp of tannin and a savoury, saline sign-off." 93 Points, Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter

The bouquet jumps from the glass in a mix of cherries, red plums, cloves, gentle notes of cigar ash, salty soil tones, a touch of wild fennel and a topnote of toasted coconut. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows excellent mid-palate depth, with impeccable focus and balance, modest, buried tannins, bright acids and great soil signature on the very long, very refined and complex finish. This is a beautiful young Reserva that is starting to really drink well, but like the 2012 Crianza, it is still in climbing mode and its true apogee remains several years in the future. Great, great Rioja in the making!" 93 Points John Gilman, View From the Cellar

Sandhi Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills 2016, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sta. Rita Hills, California

"Just bottled, the 2016 Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills) is positively stellar. Powerful and deep in the glass, with unusual depth, the 2016 has so much to offer. There is a level of sheer richness I have never seen in this bottling before. Blue and purplish berry fruit, lavender and spice flavors are all amped up. This is a very serious wine at the appellation level. Then again, the core of this wine is now composed of vineyards that belong to Domaine de la Côte. If there is one wine that over delivers big time in 2016, Sandhi's Santa Rita Hills Pinot is it. Don't miss it." 93 Points Antonio Galloni

"The bad boy of the spiced rum category draws on tattoo culture (look for the cute hula-girl tattoo label) and high alcohol content (north of 80 proof). Andrew Will Proprietary Red Sorella 2006, 1.5L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot from Horse Heaven Hills, Washington

"Chris Camarda produced his flagship wine from the oldest blocks of Champoux Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills (their average age is 30 years). It's more than two-thirds cabernet sauvignon this year, with the balance merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot. The age of the vines may account, in part, for the formidable power of this wine, brooding and distant, like a thunderhead on the horizon. For now, it reveals little beyond scents of graphite, juniper and pine, with a dark and fleshy fruit character. Give it several years for the primary fruit to mature, then serve with braised lamb." 93 Points Wine & Spirits
