P.M. Chermette Domaine du Vissoux Les Garants 2016, 0.75L
Gamay from Fleurie, Beaujolais

"In contrast to the Poncié bottling, the les Garants lieu à dit is located down in the section of Fleurie that borders on Moulin-à-Vent, and like the Coudert’s Clos de la Roilette, was actually once part of Moulin-à-Vent, rather than Fleurie. Monsieur Chermette gives this wine a bit of new oak, which works beautifully with the more structured personality of this cru, as it offers up a fine nose of black cherries, pomegranate, dark soil tones, gamebird, espresso and a touch of oak spice. On the palate the wine is deep, pure, full and potentially sappy at the core, with fine-grained tannins, excellent focus and grip and a very long, poised and nascently complex finish." 94 John Gilman

“Vivid ruby. Aromas of fresh dark berries, candied violet and smoky minerals pick up a hint of allspice with air. Sweet and nicely concentrated, offering juicy boysenberry and blackberry flavors and a touch of licorice. Finishes sappy and smooth, showing excellent persistence, lingering spiciness and dusty tannins that sneak in slowly.” Vinous 92 Points

Bellevue 2014, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

ON SALE! Original Price: $38.99

“A tight and alluring red with spice, chocolate and berry character. Full-bodied yet tight and composed. Beautiful length and balance. Give it time to show you what it has.” James Suckling 94 Points

“The wine from this estate perched high above Château Angélus is tight and mineral. While the dark dense tannins are to the fore, it also has great fruits. The acidity and the crisp texture give the wine both its intensity and its potential.” Wine Enthusiast 93 Points

“Ripe and fleshy, with a direct beam of raspberry and black currant confiture framed by a solid graphite edge. Lots of tobacco and licorice snap details hang in the background. Should age well.” Wine Spectator 92 Points

“The 2014 Bellevue is dark, plush and inviting. Black cherry, espresso, smoke, licorice, tobacco and bittersweet chocolate notes give the wine its distinctly modern, sumptuous feel. This is an especially powerful, ripe style. I would prefer to drink the 2014 sooner rather than later.” Vinous 91 Points

Le Petit Haut Lafitte Rouge 2015, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux

"Beautiful aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries and dark chocolate. Some hot stones. Full-bodied, dense and chewy yet polished and juicy. Shows pretty length and density. Very clean and focused. Precise." James Suckling 94 Points

"The 2015 Le Petit Haut Lafitte is another terrific wine from Smith Haut Lafitte. Here, Cabernet Sauvignon speaks with authority. Black cherry, leather, earth, licorice and grilled herbs are all laced together, but it is the wine's pure power and structure that stand out most. Readers should plan on cellaring the 2015 for at least a few years, as it is far from an easygoing second wine." Vinous 92+ Points

"Composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot coming from the younger vines of Smith Haut Lafitte, the 2015 Le Petit Haut Lafitte sports a medium garnet-purple color and an alluring crushed red currants, black cherries and spice box-laced nose with touches of cloves and lavender. Medium to full-bodied with wonderful generosity and plenty of spice, the open-for-business flavors are well-supported by plush tannins, and it finishes with a peppery lift." Wine Advocate 90 Points

"Juicy and open in feel, with bramble, cassis and blueberry coulis flavors that drape easily over light tobacco and singed vanilla notes. Pulls together on the finish and shows latent length. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot." Wine Spectator 90 Points

Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

"This has an air of authority with pristine red fruits, cassis and leafy aromas that lead to a palate with a powerful core of fine, long and fresh tannins. Plenty of ageing potential here." James Suckling 94 Points

"This spicy wine shows how far the estate has moved from its over-use of new wood. In this bottling, the wood is subtle and doesn't mask the rich fruit and the juicy acidity. It still has the structure of a Saint-Estèphe while keeping everything in good balance. " Wine Enthusiast 93 Points

Domaine Méo-Camuzet Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Murgers 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Nuits St. Georges, Burgundy

"The 2015 Murgers chez Méo is one of the ripest premier crus in the cellar this year, coming at a full 13.9 percent octane, but it shows absolutely no signs of sur maturité on either the nose or the palate. The bouquet is pure, complex and flamboyant, as it offers up scents of sappy black cherries and dark berries, espresso, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, gamebird and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with fine-grained tannins, superb focus and grip and a very, very long, vibrant and utterly refined finish. I remember well drinking the 1989 and 1990 Méo-Camuzet wines in their youth and this is remarkably similar!" 94 Points John Gilman, View From the Cellar

Frédéric Esmonin Ruchottes-Chambertin 2015, 1.5L
Pinor Noir from Gevrey Chambertin, Burgundy

“Complex, ripe, soil-driven scents of black raspberry, smoke and underbrush. Utterly seamless and sweet on the palate, conveying a noble texture to its flavors of dark berries, crushed rock and smoke. There's something Musigny-like here, and André Esmonin notes that the rocky, sandy soil is not unlike that of Musigny. More harmonious today than the Mazy-Chambertin, finishing with fine-grained tannins and outstanding subtle rising length. Left behind a captivating floral perfume in the empty glass. The yield here was 32 hectoliters per hectare in 2015, according to Frédéric Esmonin.” 94 Points Stephen Tanzer

Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Unique 2015, 0.75L
Grenache from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône

“A beautifully crafted wine that has a deeply fragrant rose and red berry nose. The purity of grenache sings brightly. In the mouth it offers a fluid, even-paced and smoothly structured impression. Deceptive power, too” James Suckling 94 Points

“Vivid ruby. Heady, mineral-laced red berry preserve, spicecake and floral aromas are complicated by suggestions of dusty minerals and pungent herbs. Lively, sharply focused raspberry and bitter cherry flavors become deeper and sweeter with air while picking up a musky licorice nuance. Shows impressive energy and thrust on the sweet, red-fruit-dominated finish, which is framed by supple, slow-building tannins.” Vinous 91-93 Points

“Rounded and silky in feel, with a graceful structure that allows the raspberry, kirsch and blood orange fruit flavors to glide along. Light tea, incense and sanguine notes fill in on the finish.” Wine Spectator 91 Points

Domaine La Bouissiere Gigondas La Font de Tonin 2016, 0.75L
Grenache / Mourvèdre from Gigondas, Rhône

"A blend of 81% Grenache and 19% Mourvèdre, all matured in barrels (25% new), the 2016 Gigondas la Font de Tonin is a plush, hedonistic expression of Gigondas. Baking spices accent raspberry and cherry fruit in this full-bodied, decadent wine that's probably best enjoyed in its first decade. Supple, plummy and slightly warm, but in a comforting sort of way, it finishes harmoniously and long." 94 Points Wine Advocate

Domaine Lionnet Cornas Terre Brûlée 2015, 0.75L

“A terrific wine, the 2015 Cornas Terre Brulee combines smoky notes of grilled plums and meat in a full-bodied format. It's richly tannic and velvety at the same time, with a finish that's simultaneously drying (from tannins) and mouthwatering (from juicy fruit). Yann Chave Hermitage 2015, 0.75L
Syrah from Hermitage, Rhône

“The 2015 Hermitage, from the lieux-dits of Les Beaumes and Péleat, was aged entirely in new demi-muids. It's a full-bodied, rich wine that retains a sense of freshness with its mouthwatering flavors of cassis, blackberries and blueberries accented by hints of espresso, crushed stone and licorice. Nearly approachable now, it also shows some firm tannins on the finish, suggesting two decades of longevity.” Wine Advocate 94 Points

“Inky ruby. Deep-pitched dark berry preserve, licorice pastille and floral aromas are joined by peppery spice and olive nuances in the background. Sappy and focused on the palate; concentrated bitter cherry and cassis flavors are given backbone and cut by juicy acidity. A smoky nuance comes out on the strikingly long, dark fruit-dominated finish, where gently chewy, harmonious tannins provide shape.” Vinous 91-94 Points

Riesling from Zeltingen, Mosel

"Picked in one passage and without any pre-selections at the end of October, the 2015 Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Auslese Anrecht is super deep, intense and spicy/fresh on the flinty, concentrated nose. Full-bodied, pure and lush, this is a very complex and elegant, highly mineral and salty Riesling. It has good grip and a very long, mineral finish. This is great Riesling that is indicated as Auslese only, because of the sugar weight, but not because of the selective yeasts." 94 Points Wine Advocate

"Cascina Fontana's 2010 Barolo is not for the timid. Huge swaths of tannin provide the backbone for a super-classic wine that shows the more austere side of Barolo, and I mean that in the best sense of the word. Fratelli Alessandria Barolo Gramolere 2013, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

“The 2013 Barolo Gramolere is the most linear and taut of these 2013 Barolos from Alessandria. Chalk, white pepper, mint and sweet red toned fruit give the wine its brightness. Intensely saline and sculpted, the 2013 plays off a real sense of energy and drive. It, too, needs plenty of time in bottle to be at its very best. Today, the 2013 pulses with energy, but the best is yet to come. Vittore Alessandria is naturally most often associated with Barolos from Verduno, his home town, but the Gramolere, from an estate vineyard in Monforte, is often one of the better wines in the range, as it is once again in 2013.” Vinous 94 Points

“The textural fabric of this red is tightly knit, exuding more wool than silk, framing the cherry, menthol, licorice and tar flavors. Though this is compact today, especially the finish, the vibrant acidity extends the stony length.” Wine Spectator 93 Points

"I really like the Rare Wine Company’s Charleston Sercial bottling, which is one of my favorites in their fine historic Madeira bottling series. This wine only has one percent residual sugar, which with Madeira’s inherent tangy acids, comes across as quite dry, but beautifully buffered. The bouquet is a first class blend of white cherries, oranges, a touch of nutskin, fresh nutmeg, smoky overtones and a lovely base of soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and beautifully transparent, with a superb core, racy acids and stunning tension and purity on the superbly focused and very long finish. Mindego Ridge Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains 2014, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Santa Cruz Mountains, California

"The 2014 Chardonnay is one of the most distinctive wines being made in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Graphite, smoke, peach, mint and honey give the 2014 much of its exotic flair. Dramatic in both its flavors and phenolic intensity, the 2014 is absolutely gorgeous. The aromatics are slightly reductive, so I would give the 2014 a good bit of air. There is no question the 2014, is a stunning wine, although it shows the more extroverted, flamboyant side of what is possible in the Santa Cruz Mountains." 94 Points Antonio Galloni

“The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve captures all the personality of this site on the southern edge of St. Helena. Sweet, voluptuous and powerful, the 2014 is endowed with tremendous depth from start to finish. Inky red and purplish fruit, menthol, pine and sweet spices are front and center. Turley Zinfandel Juvenile 2013, 0.75L
Zinfandel from California, California

""A killer Zinfandel, the 2013 Zinfandel Juvenile is a blend from younger vines replanted on old-vine sites. For the statisticians, this wine is made from Zinfandel vines ranging from six to 25 years of age across 15 different vineyards, including such hallowed Zin terroir as Hayne, Ueberroth, Pesenti, Salvador, and Vineyard 101. This is a stunning example that shouldn’t be discounted just because it is not a single-vineyard wine. Deep ruby/purple, with oodles of black cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant fruit as well as some pepper and spice, the wine is plump, full-bodied, sexy and delicious . . . .  this is a lusty, extroverted Zinfandel that has been brilliantly put together by the Turley winemaking crew. Probably no one in Northern California has done more for the renaissance and resurrection of old vine Zinfandel than Larry Turley. He started Turley Cellars after selling most of his interest in Frog’s Leap Winery to his original partner, John Williams. The Turley Cellars project was founded in 1993, and is now over 20 years of age. The great thing about Larry Turley is that he’s quick to admit he’s never met an old vine he’s not fond of. As a result, they farm and buy fruit from 35 different vineyards, with some of them dating back to the late 1800s, long before Prohibition. There are at least 30-plus separate wines, and some super-talented winemakers have worked for Turley – first Ehren Jordan and more recently Tegan Passalacqua. I have praised these wines from the beginning and, to my surprise, older vintages . . . have aged remarkably well . . . . Turley’s Petite Syrahs are probably 50-year wines . . ." 94 Points Robert M. Parker Jr.
