Vieux Château Certan 2017, 0.75L
Merlot/ Cabernet Franc/ Cabernet Sauvignon from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"Possibly the wine of the vintage, the 2017 Vieux Chateau Certan is a blend of 81% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from the highest point on the Pomerol plateau. Deep purple, with a heavenly bouquet of creme de cassis, blueberries, scorched earth, crushed violets, tobacco, and earth, this beauty is full-bodied, has incredible depth of fruit, ripe, present tannins, integrated acidity, and a great finish. This estate has been on fire of late, and this is undoubtedly a worthy follow-on to the otherworldly 2015 and 2016. It has the depth of fruit and texture to offer pleasure even today, yet a solid 7-8 years of cellaring are warranted, and it should be long-lived. Bravo!" 98 Jeb Dunnuck, Jebdunnuck.com, Feb 2020

"Just as it was en primeur, the 2017 Vieux Château Certan is regal and soaring right out of the glass. Inky blue and purplish fruit, chocolate, licorice, lavender, spice and mint come together in a dense, dark and powerful Pomerol. The 2017 is an explosive, vivid wine of monastic beauty. In this vintage, VCC is especially dark and somber, which adds to a real feeling of mysterious beauty. It is a towering achievement from Alexandre and Guillaume Thienpont." 98 Antonio Gallioni, Vinous, Vinous.com, Mar 2020

"Composed of 81% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Vieux Château Certan gives up gorgeous black raspberries, crushed black currants and warm black berries on the nose with chocolate-covered cherries, violets and star anise suggestions plus black truffles and wood smoke. The palate is medium to full-bodied with wonderful concentration in the mid-palate and firm, very finely pixelated tannins, with seamless freshness and fantastic length." 96-98 Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate, April 2018

Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne

"This vivid Champagne shows up-front and linear definition, thanks to rapierlike acidity, with finely meshed flavors of ripe black cherry and mandarin orange fruit, raw almond, anise and cardamom spice as well as a touch of honeycomb, which all unfurl and expand on the fine, creamy palate. Sleek acidity continues through to the finish, with additional racy character provided by a streak of minerally saline and chalk, which gains momentum through the midpalate and rings out on the well-cut, lasting finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay." 98, Allison Napjus, Wine Spectator

Emrich-Schonleber Monzinger Halenberg Riesling Trocken Großes Gewächs 2021, 0.75L
Riesling from Monzingen, Nahe

“The vibrant white-peach, wild-herb and floral bouquet of this stunning GG makes a serious statement. Very compact and concentrated, it’s only just beginning to reveal its abundant treasures. Super-focused and precise, it grows and grows as it shoots over the palate at great speed. Incredible depth of wet-stone minerality at the super-long finish.” 98 Stuart Pigott, JamesSuckling.com

“The 2021 Halenberg Riesling GG is coolish, fresh, pure, extraordinarily deep and complex on the ripe and concentrated yet precise nose that reveals notes of crushed stones and iodine. Powerful, rich and complex on the palate, this is a full-bodied, dense and very intense Riesling with a concentrated fruit core and a firm (mineral) structure that holds and even uplifts this giant that a will develop into an iconic German Riesling over the years in the bottle. It is still tight and youthful but possibly the greatest Halenberg I have tasted in more than 20 years. Natural cork. 12.5% stated alcohol. Tasted at the Domaine in August 2022.” 97 Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Aug 2022

Produttori del Barbaresco Don Fiorino Barbaresco Riserva 2016, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, Piedmont

"The 2016 Barbaresco Riserva will be available later this spring. It is introspective at the moment. although it is concentrated with licorice, fresh black cherry, cedar, and black pepper. It is a more brooding wine but retains its style, with leather, red plum, and balsamic, and as it opens it shows more fresh apricot. It is going to be a wine to hold onto and or drink over the coming two to three decades. As one of the most important and quality-minded co-operatives in the world, Produttori del Barbaresco is currently composed of 51 growers across Barbaresco. Founded in 1894 by Domizio Cavazza, the headmaster of the Royal Enological School of Alba, it was originally a collection of nine growers. Today the operations are managed by Aldo Vacca, who was formerly the assistant to Angelo Gaja for 15 years." 98 Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com

"Incredible aromas of white truffle, meat, wet earth, lightly burnt orange peel and pure fruit. Medium-bodied and very compact, with a block of silky tannins that run through the palate and then come out at the end with a gorgeous texture. It’s very drinkable now, but will age wonderfully. This is a special release. They never made a serious blended riserva in their history. Spring 2023 release. Drink or hold." 98 JamesSuckling.com

Salvioni La Cerbaiola Brunello di Montalcino 2010, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany

"One of the many highlights in this vertical, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is exceptionally beautiful. Today, the 2010 comes across as refined and polished, with veins of bright acidity that give the wines its sense of energy, drive and polish. Over the last few months, the 2010 has begun to close in on itself. I can't say that is surprising given how much stuffing there is. Readers lucky enough to own the 2010 are in for a real treat. When all is said and done, the 2010 is profound and riveting in every way. The Salvioni family and their wines embody the essence of what makes artisan Brunello so special. Totally hand made, from the vineyard to the cellar and into the bottle, these wines have much more in common with the great reds of Piedmont and Burgundy than they do with the vast majority of what comes out of Montalcino these days. Up until a few years ago, labeling was still done by hand because the cellar was not equipped with power outlets that could handle modern equipment. Production is miniscule, which means bottles disappear from the market as quickly as they arrive. This wine was tasted as part of a complete vertical held in February 2016." 98 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Vega Sicilia Unico Gran Reserva 2013, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

"This has a polished and complex nose of poached plums, dark cherries, tea leaves, graphite, milk chocolate and a touch of caramel. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm yet creamy tannins. Caressing, seductive and ripe, but with underlying freshness. 97% tempranillo and 3% cabernet sauvignon. Tasted from magnum. The normal bottle will be released 2023 and the magnum in 2025. Try after 2023." 98, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

"The wine is subtle, elegant and fresh, complex, silky and with precision. The wine matured in 225-liter barrels in an initial phase and then in 22,000-liter oak vats until it was bottled in June 2019. This year, the final blend was 97% Tinto Fino and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon with a little less alcohol, 14%, and a pH of 3.78 and 5.2 grams of acidity, fresh and balanced, more elegant and subtler. Único often transcends the character of the vintage and doesn't follow the norm in the region, and the 2013 is a good example of that. It was a very rainy and complicated vintage; they harvested quite quickly to avoid botrytis, and while other people waited for concentration, they did not, and their approach clearly paid back. It's aromatic and floral, less dense than the 2012, subtler, more expressive and more elegant. It's clean and fresh, tasty, with very fine tannins. It's a big surprise for the vintage and one of the finest Únicos in the last few years." 97, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Accendo Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"Accendo's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is every bit as alluring as it was from barrel. Plush and sensual, with no hard edges, the 2019 possesses magnificent balance from start to finish. Dark-fleshed fruit, spice, leather, tobacco and menthol build as this sumptuous, racy Cabernet shows off its tremendous charm. Best of all, the 2019 offers quite a bit of immediacy. I would choose to drink it ahead of some of the more structured recent vintages. As always, the Accendo Cabernet is a blend of several top sites in Napa Valley. (Drink between 2027-2041)" 98, Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com

Amici Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Morisoli Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford, California

"From a heritage vineyard in Rutherford, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Morisoli Vineyard is all Cabernet Sauvignon that saw 22 months in new French oak. Beautiful red, blue, and black fruits as well as classic Cabernet herbal, cedar, and Pauillac-like lead pencil notes flow to a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, yet incredibly elegant 2019 that does everything right." 98 Jeb Dunnuck

Arietta Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is brilliant. Deep purple-hued, with incredible cassis and blueberry fruit as well as tobacco, graphite, damp earth, leather, and violets, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a round, layered, seamless texture, ultra-fine tannins, and a great, great finish. This tour de force is going to evolve gracefully for 30 years or more. It's one of the finest wines I've tasted from this estate."98 Points, Jeb Dunnuck

"Arietta's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is outstanding. It will require a number of years to be at its most expressive and for the bouquet to fully open, but all of that potential is there. Deep, layered and so well balanced, the 2019 is impressive right out of the gate. There is so much to look forward to. Inky dark fruit and a whole range of cooler-climate mineral/savory notes typical of Coombsville punctuate the huge, redolent finish." 96 Points, Antonio Galloni

Dunn Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvingon from Howell Mountain, California

"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is outrageously beautiful. A wine of extraordinary purity, the 2019 dazzles right out of the gate. The tannins are nearly silky for a young Howell Mountain Cabernet. Red/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, rose petal and pomegranate all build in this sumptuous, explosive Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 is one of the most elegant Cabernets I have tasted here, and that is saying something What a wine." 98 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Mayacamas Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Mt. Veeder, California

"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon was just bottled this past summer. It is of course a very young wine, but possesses tremendous aromatic nuance and freshness to play off a core of huge dark fruit. Readers will have to be patient with the 2018, as it is an imposing, vertical Cabernet that needs years to be at its best. Bright floral and spice notes lift the soaring finish as the wine's inner sweetness gradually emerges over time. The 2018 is super-impressive. That's all there is to it." 98 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Raen Pinot Noir Sea Field 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Fort Ross-Seaview, California

"Extremely aromatic with plums, crushed strawberries, rose flower, powdery dirt, before turning to cherries. Hints of flower stems. Perfumed. Full-bodied and very, very firm. Rather steely. Tight at the end. It opens beautifully in an hour or so. Drink after 2025." 98 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

"The 2021 Pinot Noir Sea Field is intensely floral and full of flavor, with cool-climate savoriness driving a core of bright, red-toned fruit. Deceptively medium in body, the 2021 has a ton of complexity waiting to emerge. Time in the glass brings out compelling inner perfume and quite a bit of nuance. But, it is tightly wound and quite reticent at this stage. (Drink between 2024-2033)" 95 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com

Charles Smith Syrah Stoneridge Vineyard Royal City 2015, 0.75L
Syrah from Columbia Valley, Washington

"Another magical Syrah is the 2015 Syrah Royal City. It shows a more finesse-driven (I wrote Burgundian in my notes), ethereal style as well as a beautiful perfume of kirsch and black cherry liqueur intermixed with notes of crushed flowers, ground herbs, pepper, and dried earth. Full-bodied, seamless, and ultra-fine on the palate, it has no hard edges and flawless balance, all making for an incredibly thrilling Syrah that’s already a joy to drink. Nevertheless, this cuvée will evolve gracefully and keep for 10-15 years." 98 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com
