d'Yquem 2010, 0.375L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

"The 2010 Château d’Yquem is an utterly stunning young wine and a very worthy follow-up to the magical wine produced at this estate in 2009. The bouquet is deep, complex and flat out brilliant, as it soars from the glass in a celestial mélange of pineapple, tangerines, a touch of passion fruit, honeycomb, beautifully complex and chalky soil tones, spring flowers and a very gentle touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, suave and utterly seamless, with great mid-palate depth, bright acids and surreal length and grip on the dancing and very intensely flavored finish. The 2010 d’Yquem is not quite as ethereally complex at this stage as the hauntingly beautiful 2009, but in terms of sheer quality, it seems likely to be every bit as profound." John Gilman 98+ Points

“Stunningly rich in character, a wine with great power to go with its acidity and sweetness. It is dense, powerful and concentrated powered by honey and by spice from the wood. The finish has dried apricots, very aromatic.” Wine Enthusiast 96-98 Points

“Deep yellow with a golden tinge. Intense aromas of very ripe tropical fruit, beeswax, honey and raisin are lifted by a strong mineral edge. Very fresh, rich and sweet on entry, then extremely light on its feet, with refined flavors of ripe citrus, mango, papaya, honey and saffron complicated by tangy botrytis. A very bright and focused Yquem, with lively acidity and a long, smooth, floral finish. Boasts impeccable balance and lovely precision. This terrific Yquem is very stylish but less massively opulent than vintages like 1989 and 1983.” Vinous 95-98 Points

“Rather restrained now, showing terrific purity and precision, with dried pineapple, persimmon and mango notes, offset by racy honeysuckle, white peach and chamomile hints. The extremely long finish sails on, switching to yet another spectrum, with green almond, green plum and coconut accents. A thread of quinine stitches this up at the very end.” Wine Spectator 96 Points

“This is a super balanced and racy Yquem with nuts. light pineapple and apple character. Full and dense but bright and fresh. Love the spicy botrytis with light apple tart and nuts on the finish…” James Suckling 94-95 Points

“…there is fine minerality on the nose and great transparency. The palate is fresh and harmonious, with a fine bead of citrus fruit and a penetrating, spicy finish that offers white peach and honeysuckle notes…” Wine Spectator 93 Points

Joseph Roty Bourgogne Grand Ordinaire 2010, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Côteaux Bourguignons, Burgundy

"The Bourgogne Grande Ordinaire is more Grande than Ordinaire with lovely ripe red berry fruit that is light on its feet, crisp and airy. The palate is medium-bodied with touches of orange zest on the entry. There is good weight in the mouth for a Bourgogne Rouge with a fleshy, generous, simple but pure finish that is a joy, especially given the price." Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate

Roger Coulon Blanc de Noirs Brut 2010, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Pinot Meunier from Champagne, Champagne

"a vintage cuvée produced exclusively from Pinot Meunier (50%) and Pinot Noir (50%) and aged for 5 years prior to disgorgement; much of this blend is based on fruit from the old vines parcel of Pinot Meunier known as Les Linguets in Vrigny that was planted in 1953; the wine is neither filtered nor fined and only a minimal dosage is applied when this vintage Champagne is disgorged." Cascina Fontana Barolo 2010, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

"Cascina Fontana's 2010 Barolo is not for the timid. Huge swaths of tannin provide the backbone for a super-classic wine that shows the more austere side of Barolo, and I mean that in the best sense of the word. Sweet red cherries, mint, orange peel and white pepper are some of the notes that inform this intense, pulsating wine. . ." Vinous 90 Points

Massimo Clerico Lessona Riserva 2010, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Piedmont, Piedmont

"Deceptively medium in body, Clerico's 2010 Lessona Riserva packs a real punch. Firm tannins and bright acids give the wine much of its energy. Sweet dried cherry, rose petal, mint, alpine herbs, white pepper and chalk all open up nicely in the glass in this super-expressive, translucent Nebbiolo. The 2010 delivers superb flavor intensity with no excess weight and fabulous overall balance." Vinous 93 Points

Chateau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon The Montelena Estate 2010, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Calistoga, California

"Bright, saturated ruby-red. Deep, complex nose offers cassis, blueberry, mocha, espresso, menthol, bitter chocolate and tobacco. Densely packed and vibrant, with layered, seamless flavors of cassis, licorice and minerals. Shows an almost chocolatey ripeness yet retains outstanding verve. This chewy, superconcentrated wine finishes with ripe, pliant tannins and outstanding length and mineral reserve. Should be long-lived." 94+ Points Stephen Tanzer

Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select 2010, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Stags Leap District, California

"A remarkable wine, the 2010 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select has gone from strength to strength since it was in cask. It is stunningly rich, with classic, fragrant notes of blackcurrants, blackberries, vanilla, graphite and spring flowers. It exhibits an opaque purple color, with a full-bodied, massive mouthfeel, but no heaviness, and again, a flawless integration of acidity, tannin, alcohol and wood. It’s classic California Cabernet, but beautifully put together, showing impeccable craftsmanship and fabulous potential. This is obviously a very young, infantile style of Cabernet that won’t hit its prime for at least another decade and last close to half a century, based on how older vintages that were less well-endowed have matured from Shafer." 100 Points Robert M. Parker Jr.
