Moulin Saint-Georges 2011, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"A powerful wine that has both juicy red and black fruit flavors and dense tannins that are still dominant. Old vines and dense planting have given great concentration and richness. It shows touches of new wood aging at this stage, but they will integrate." Wine Enthusiast 91 Points

Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée 2011, 0.75L
Grenache from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône

“Beautiful in the vintage, the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee is a forward, perfumed example of the cuvee that has classic Pegau black fruits, tobacco leaf, pepper and leathery notes as well as medium to full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. Early-drinking by this estate’s standards, there’s nevertheless good mid-palate density and fine tannin. It should have 15 years or so of overall longevity.” Wine Advocate 93 Points

“Deep ruby. Ripe black and blue fruit aromas are complicated by potpourri, incense and licorice, with a smoky topnote. Sappy, focused dark berry and bitter cherry flavors are sharpened by juicy acidity and show very good depth. Lots of fruit here but there's good structure as well. Finishes sweet and long, with velvety tannins adding shape. As with the '12, there's a degree of elegance to this wine and less of the wild edge of the Pegaus of a few vintages back.” Vinous 92 Points

“This shows an enticing bay leaf note, with juicy blackberry and black currant fruit up front, followed by melted licorice and a tarry edge on the finish, underscored by a roasted alder accent. This has the friendly, racy fruit of the vintage, with some distinct character to boot.” Wine Spectator 93 Points

Monsecco Gattinara 2011, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Gattinara, Piedmont

"The 2011 Gattinara is a super-classic wine laced with the aromas and flavors Nebbiolo shows with a bit of age. Sweet tobacco, dried flowers, dried cherry, menthol, orange peel and anise give the wine its aromatic presence. Firm tannins add drive through to the finish. Further time in bottle should help those tannins soften even more. Still, the 2011 is quite attractive today." Vinous 93 Points

Paolo Bea Montefalco Rosso de Veo 2011, 0.75L
Sagrantino from Montefalco, Umbria

"The current version of Rosso de Veo is a selection of the Bea estate’s younger Sagrantino vines, principally from the “Cerrete” vineyard which graces the highest point in Montefalco, between 1300 and 1500 feet above sea level. The soil is clay and limestone infused with small pebbles from an ancient riverbed. This wine is vinified in a similar fashion to the single vineyard Sagrantino with a long cuvaison which extends forty to fifty days. The wine is then aged one year in stainless steel tanks, two years in large oak barrels and another year in bottle before release. The wine is not filtered." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Paolo Bea Sagrantino di Montefalco Pagliaro 2011, 0.75L
Sagrantino from Sagrantino di Montefalco, Umbria

"The fabled local grape of Montefalco is the Sagrantino and the Pagliaro vineyard, situated at 1300 feet in altitude, is dedicated in large part to this grape variety. The harvest of Sagrantino normally occurs during the second half of October. The cuvaison extends for forty to fifty days. The wines is then aged for one year in stainless steel, another two years in large Slavonian oak barrels and, finally, spends one more year in bottle (the wine, like all Bea wines, is unfiltered) before release. Annual production from the Pagliaro vineyard is 15,000 to 20,000 bottles." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Bodegas Hermanos Peciña Rioja Señorío de P. Peciña Reserva 2011, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Rioja Alta, La Rioja

"The 2011 Rioja “Reserva” from Señorío de P. Peciña has blossomed beautifully with that extra time aging, and is offering up beautiful and refined complexity on both the nose and palate. The bouquet jumps from the glass in a mix of cherries, red plums, cloves, gentle notes of cigar ash, salty soil tones, a touch of wild fennel and a topnote of toasted coconut. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows excellent mid-palate depth, with impeccable focus and balance, modest, buried tannins, bright acids and great soil signature on the very long, very refined and complex finish. This is a beautiful young Reserva that is starting to really drink well, but like the 2012 Crianza, it is still in climbing mode and its true apogee remains several years in the future. Great, great Rioja in the making!" 93 Points John Gilman, View From the Cellar
