Jean Foillard Morgon Les Charmes Eponym 2021, 0.75L
Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais

"Foillard's Morgon Eponym comes from the Charmes lieu-dit, one of the highest parcels in the appellation. In contrast to the grandiose, deeply structured Côte du Py and silky-smooth Corcelette, this cuvée features a bit more crunch with lots of bright acidity and a leaner, more mineral profile. It nonetheless shares the satin texture of all Foillard Morgons, and should age similarly well for those willing and able to wait." Importer Notes

Samion 2019, 0.75L
Merlot from Lalande de Pomerol, Bordeaux

Château Samion is the family domaine of Jean‐Claude Berrouet, the man who oversaw more than 40 vintages at the famed Château Petrus in Pomerol from 1964until his retirement in 2007. Together with his son Jean‐Françis, they produce a small amount of wine from their holdings in Lalande‐de‐Pomerol which total a scant1.2 hectares. The first vintage for Château Samion was in 1979 when they rented the vineyards, but since 1985 they have been owned by the Berrouet family and the vines are now an average of 45 years in age. There is but one wine made at Château Samion. The wine is made from 100% Merlot, and one will find it is made in the same manner and with the same exacting care as Château Petrus. The grapes are harvested by hand, and then vinified in concrete vats. Following the vinification, the wine is racked and aged for 20 months in 15% new French oak casks (225 liters). Importer Notes

Armand Heitz Saint Aubin 1er Cru Les Castets 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from St. Aubin, Burgundy

"This is also aromatically cool and restrained with a more floral-suffused array of various white orchard fruit and orange rind. There is a really lovely texture to the nicely rich middle weight flavors that possess a seductive mouthfeel, all wrapped in a lightly austere and sneaky long finish that exhibits a refreshing salinity." Allen Meadows, Burghound

Benjamin Leroux Bourgogne Blanc 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Bourgogne, Burgundy

“Racked to tank in July, from foudre and 600 litre barrels. Almost all the grapes come from around Meursault. Excellent balance here with a line of concentration through the middle. Perfectly judged ripeness, more in white fruit. Textbook example, just a little oak toast but the fruit is the driver.” Jasper Morris MW

“An attractively fresh nose speaks mostly of green apple, petrol and lemon zest. The racy, delicious and appealingly textured middleweight flavors conclude in a lingering and bone-dry but not really austere finale. This is a lovely Bourgogne that should repay a few years of keeping if desired.”  Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

Chavy-Chouet Bourgogne Blanc Les Femelottes 2021, 0.75L

"The grapes are grown in the Puligny-Montrachet area, either just outside of the AOC limit or from younger vines. This is a charming, rich, focused and delightful white. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture, the wine has a fresh backbone of acidity, clean apple and citrus flavors, and an excellent balance. A most refreshing quaff and one that is great value. A delicate, expressive wine of exceptional quality." Importer Notes

Daniel-Etienne Defaix Domaine du Vieux Château Chablis Les Lys. 2010, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"Les Lys is a tiny five-hectare cru of which Defaix owns three and a half hectares, all in a southeast-facing section called Clos du Roi—effectively a monopole of the domaine. Its poor soils of pure Kimmeridgian limestone produce perhaps the most complete and distinctive wine in Defaix’s cellar. Combining some of the power of the “Vaillon” with the chalky intensity of the “Côte de Lechet,” “Les Lys” ratchets up the aromatic complexity of the previous two, yet comes across as pure and harmonious. The palate offers ample richness, yet a sense of tension keeps it from feeling opulent, and the chiseled finish offers a strong sensation of dry extract." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Domaine Sylvain Cathiard & Fils Bourgogne Aligote 2022, 0.75L
Aligoté from Bourgogne, Burgundy

The Aligoté grapes used for the Domaine's only white wine come from a total of 2.26 hectares of vineyards. A tiny 0.13 hectares situated in the commune of Nuits Saint Georges and 2.13 hectares in Villers-La-Faye in the Hautes Côtes are the sources. The vines in Nuits Saint Georges were planted in 2013, while those in Villers are impressively between 50 to 80 years old. These two vineyards are characterized by their deep clay soils. The winemaking process involves spontaneous yeast fermentation and aging for a period of 6 months in stainless steel tanks.

Montanet-Thoden Bourgogne Vézelay Galerne 2020, 0.75L

"Domaine Montenet Thondon's organically grown Bourgogne Blanc de Vezely is a classically vibrant Chardonnay. It's beautifully ripe, but still bone dry with a light-to-medium body. You'll get notes of melon and green apple on the nose with crisp acidity and minerality. Pierre Yves Colin Morey Nuits Saint Georges 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Nuits St. Georges, Burgundy

"...The juice is pressed into barrel before primary fermentation and then Pierre-Yves leaves them alone as much as possible. Fermentation is always initiated by natural yeast and he does not stir the lees, rack the barrels or even filter the wines. Pierre-Yves also prefers unusual barrels – about 80% of them are 50% larger than normal Burgundy barrels. Depending on the vintage, most of the top wines are aged in new oak, but the larger barrels minimize the oak influence and also delay the malolactic fermentation. The cellar is also kept very cold to further delay the malolactic fermentation – which ideally finishes 8-9 months after harvest. Approximately 18 months after harvest the wines are lightly fined and then bottled. The extended elévage helps preserve aromatic intensity and purity as well as giving the wines the right balance for long-term ageing." Importer Notes

Château de Plaisance Anjou La Grande Piece 2021, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Anjou, Loire

“Vanessa Cherruau is a steward of one of the Loire’s great terroirs – Chaume. After finishing wine school in Angers, she worked throughout the wine industry for 12 years before befriending the Rochais family on the Chaume hill, who owned Château de Plaisance (more a farmhouse than Château) and its 25 hectares of vines growing on the schist bedrock of the appellation. With plans to sell the historic estate to the local cooperative, Vanessa convinced the family to sell to her instead, allowing her to continue the fine legacy they left, while forging a new path for Loire greatness. Luckily for Vanessa, she inherited some of the most well-cared for vines on the hill, as Plaisance has been certified organic since 1995 and certified biodynamic since 2008. She of course has continued the biodynamic viticulture started by her predecessors, knowing that taking care of the natural environment of the vines is of utmost importance. Since her first vintage in 2019, she has helped raise the image of dry Chenin made on the Chaume hill to where it is now one of the most intriguing Chenin terroirs in the Loire. Only 10km south of Savennières, Chaume is a sweet-wine-only appellation (Quarts de Chaume Grand Cru and Coteaux de Layon 1er Cru Chaume), and so Vanessa and the other producers of dry Chenin on the hill cannot legally use ‘Chaume’ on their labels. This hasn’t deterred Vanessa from continuing to make world-class dry wines, joining other growers on the hill to create their own name for dry Chenin made from vines on Chaume – Ronceray. This name has been adopted by growers to help promote the dry wines of Chaume, with its origin coming from the name of a 17th century monastery that made dry wines on the Chaume hill. Vanessa is unquestionably of the leaders of this qualitative surge in the area, with whites and reds of gorgeous purity and soaring minerality …. LA GRANDE PIÈCE: Certified Biodynamic; 100% Chenin Blanc; a single 0.8 ha site on the Chaume hill, facing south; 50+ year old vine; sandstone and puddingstone over schist bedrock; indigenous yeast, partial malolactic; fermented and aged in older barrel for 12 months; from Butte de Chaume, vinified in barrels for 12 months.” Skurnik

Hippolyte Reverdy Sancerre 2022, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre, Loire

."Does it get more classic than this? Like Chablis and Muscadet, Sancerre is a quintessential white wine appellation of France, beloved for its famous Kimmeridgian limestone and crisp blancs that sing at apéro hour. This AOC also happens to be home to half a dozen vignerons named Reverdy. Domaine Hippolyte Reverdy, a family farm that has been making wine for many generations—since the 1600s—is our favorite, producing Sancerres with trademark notes of fresh spring flowers and a zesty, mineral finish.
Since Kermit began to work with Hippolyte, the first Reverdy in this family to bottle, in the 1980s, the wines have been consistently excellent. The current generation, Julie Guiard—Hippolyte’s granddaughter—is as much a humble farmer as any of her ancestors, foregoing vacation and travel to make sure everything is in exactly the right place in her vines and cellar. Join me in opening a bottle of this charming Sancerre that represents what we love most about tradition in French winemaking."  Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant

Philippe Gilbert Menetou-Salon Les Chandelières Rouge 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Menetou-Salon, Loire

"Les Chandelières is an east-facing vineyard of pure Kimmeridgian limestone planted in 1970 by Philippe’s father, and Philippe renders a Pinot Noir of such purity and expressiveness here as to make a Burgundian blush. Fermented with 25% whole clusters in large open-top wood, and aged two years in a combination of used demi-muid and stainless steel, the 2015 is luscious but controlled, with clean, fresh tannins and a profound mineral core. Philippe was the first biodynamic practitioner (now certified as such) in Menetou-Salon, and the health of his fruit is brazenly apparent in the finished wines. Ultra-low sulfur (around 30 milligrams per liter of total sulfur-dioxide) and a lack of new oak make for a Pinot Noir both terroir-transparent and ravishingly delicious."Clarke Boehling, Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Clos Saint-Joseph Côtes de Provence Syrah 2017, 0.75L
Syrah from Côtes de Provence, Provence

"While the name of the domaine honors Roch’s great-grandfather, it also brings to mind the great northern Rhône appellation Saint-Joseph. The association with fine cool-climate Syrah is not unwarranted: the grape shows a special affinity to the extreme environment of this less-traveled side of Provence, so much that Roch chose to spotlight it with a special cuvée. Thick, dense, chewy tannins frame this brawny red jam-packed with spice and savory goodness. It belongs in your cellar somewhere between the Bandols and the Hermitages."  Anthony Lynch, Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant

Clos Saint-Joseph I.G.P. Méditerranée Rouge 2017, 0.75L
Syrah / Grenache / Mourvèdre / Cabernet Sauvignon from Méditérranée, Provence

"In 2017, a hail storm destroyed much of Clos Saint Joseph’s red grapes. Half of this bottling comes from grapes from Clos Saint Joseph’s vines. The other half comes from donations of grapes from a large group of Provence’s top growers (an organization called Rouge Provence, intended to create solidarity among growers and promote Provence’s historic red wines) including Domaine Tempier, Domaine Hauvette, and Domaine de la Tour du Bon. All these grapes come from different AOCs (Bandol, Coteaux de Baux, Coteaux d’Aix, Coteaux Varois, Côtes de Provence), which is why the wine’s designation is I.G.P Méditerranée instead of Côtes de Provence."  Importer Notes, Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant

Domaine du Bagnol Cassis Rosé 2022, 0.75L
Grenache / Mourvèdre / Cinsault from Cassis, Provence

“A mix of Grenache, Cinsault and Mourvèdre, the 2022 Cassis Rosé reveals aromas of red berries, lemon, menthol, strawberry and peach. Medium-bodied, fresh and juicy, it’s long and penetrating with a mouthwatering finish.” Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, Jun 2023

"No estate expresses the salt-kissed limestone-driven terroir of the idyllic Provençal seaside village of Cassis like Domaine du Bagnol, and the current generation, Sébastien Genovesi, crafts a rosé of scintillating energy, chiseled calcareous musculature, and gleaming red fruits. Comprising 50% Grenache, 30% Cinsault, and 20% Mourvèdre, Bagnol’s Cassis Rosé is pressed directly and rapidly (in under two hours) to extract as little color as possible, and the bottled wine (certified organic) contains only 20 milligrams per liter of total sulfur—a factor which contributes to its gorgeous purity of texture and intense evocation of limestone soil." Its soils of sand, clay, and large galets render a white wine of formidable amplitude but excellent focus, given shape by a touch of appealing bitterness on the finish. This 2018 underwent alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in well-used 500-liter barrels, and was bottled without fining of filtration." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Jean-Claude Marsanne Saint-Joseph 2018, 0.75L
Syrah from St. Joseph, Rhône

"Just a stone's throw from JL Chave and Gonon, this little-known winegrower delivers high-level Syrah at a price that is still angelic, a superb discovery...Deep colour with purple tints. Expressive nose of black fruits, notes of spices of cacao, mineral touch. In the mouth, a traditional, generous, powerful but balanced wine. We find the aromatic personality of the appellation on a beautiful length."

Jean-Louis Chave Sélection Saint-Joseph Offerus 2021, 0.75L
Syrah from St. Joseph, Rhône

"The organic vineyards used for Offerus are located in the communities of Mauves, Tournon, and St. Jean de Muzols and are owned by Jean-Louis. These eastern-facing vineyard sites express tightly wound tannins, spice, and power. They add structure and depththat is the hallmark of Offerus." Importer Notes

Donnhoff Pinot Brut 2017, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Nahe, Nahe

"Famous, steeply sloping vineyard in a small side valley of the middle section of the Nahe River. The “Höllenpfad” (“Path to Hell”) name is an old one, likely referencing both the vineyard‘s steep slope as well as the unique color of the red sandstone. The surrounding landscape is bathed daily in the rich, warm light of the evening sun as it reflects off the hillside‘s distinctive red soil. It‘s also not hard to imagine that the word „Hell“ might have been uttered by many a winegrower after a particularly laborious day on these steep slopes. The weathered warm sandstone of the Rotliegend strata lends the wines their inimitable character. Grapes grown here tend to be very small with intense, nuanced aromas; the resulting wines are elegant with a spicy mineral fruit and excellent aging potential." Importer Notes

Weingut Robert Weil Riesling Sekt Brut 2018, 0.75L
Riesling from Rheingau, Rheingau

"The 2018 growing season was almost a full degree Celsius warmer than the warmest year in recent history (2003).  The growth in the vineyards reflected this, with early budbreak and very early flowering. To ensure that our wines  retained their cool-climate character, we started the harvest in mid-September. In the end we were thrilled not just with the residual sugar levels across the entire range, but also with the fine, elegant acidity and perfect physiological ripeness of the grapes that will express itself beautifully in these wines."
