A. Mann Pinot Gris Grand Cru Hengst 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Gris from Alsace, Alsace

“The 2015 Pinot Gris Grand Cru Hengst is a gorgeously rich, intense and powerful Pinot with an oily texture, a vital acidity, great tension and length. Impressive.” Wine Advocate 93 Points

“Bright yellow with golden tinges. Perfumed aromas of guava, peach, minerals and sweet spices. Multilayered and suave, displaying a lovely sense of balance to the rich, long orchard and tropical fruit flavors. Finishes very clean and fresh, as well as a little sweet (29 g/L residual sugar and 5.1 g/L total acidity) and tannic; the hint of tannic bite is fairly typical of the Hengst due to its marly soils. Barthelmy likes the 2015 Pinot Gris Furstentum more in 2015, but for me it’s the other way around.” Vinous 91+ Points

Albert Boxler Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg 2015, 0.75L
Riesling from Niedermorschwihr, Alsace

“Boxler's 2015 Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg opens with the discreet charm and aristocratic distinction of a great wine. Very pure, clear, fine and elegant on the nose, with fine stony and herbal flavors but also ripe stone fruit and floral aromas, the 2015 tells the story of its origin in the glass in an excitingly subtle yet deep way. The palate is great! It is intense and juicy, nicely concentrated and ripe, with a touch of sweetness but gorgeous finesse, vitality and piquancy. The finish is pure and salty and develops a fascinating juiciness that explodes in the finish. This is not a wine for mouthfeel drinkers, but it is surely one of the finest, most delicate and balanced Rieslings you can find from this vintage. The combination of concentration, complexity, structure, minerality and sweetness (due to the low acidity, higher alcohol and extract) could hardly be better.” Wine Advocate 95 Points

Albert Boxler Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg Eckberg 2015, 0.75L
Riesling from Niedermorschwihr, Alsace

“The 2015 Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg Eckberg has a clear, fresh, mineral and highly delicate nose with concentrated white stone fruit but also flinty/stony aromas. Lemon flavors are here as well, but they are concentrated as in a chutney or a cake. Rich, lush, intense and beautifully concentrated (seamless) on the palate, with a lingering minerality, this is another gorgeous Riesling from Jean Boxler. Its finish is lean and finessed but also ripe, concentrated, rich, elegant and endlessly salty. There seems to be some sweetness, but the fine tannins, the body, concentration and finesse balance it perfectly. This Eckberg is fine and rich at the same time. A fascinating Riesling!” Wine Advocate 96 Points

Albert Mann Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Steingrubler 2015, 0.75L
Gewurztraminer from Alsace, Alsace

“Very ripe but precise and intense, with classic Gewurz flavors on the nose opens the 2015 Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Steingrubler, a powerful yet vital, precise and elegant wine full of tension and grip. Very stimulating its its purity and tension. The wine finished at 13.% alcohol and 37 grams of residual sugar, but you almost don't taste it!” Wine Advocate 93 Points

“Bright straw. Nuanced bergamot and candied orange peel on the nose, plus hints of cinnamon and white flowers. Bright, dense and pure, offering clean citrus and spicy honey flavors that are impeccably balanced (37 g/L residual sugar and 4.7 g/L total acidity). The finish is long and very precise. The Steingrubler always produces very delicate Gewürzes that lack the depth of the Furstentum, but are also at once refined and dainty - ideal for those who don’t like this variety’s powerful, often opulent personality. Very lovely wine.” Vinous 90+ Points

Ostertag Riesling Fronholz 2016, 0.75L
Riesling from Alsace, Alsace

". . .the palate reveals still tightly coiled layers of lemon freshness. Zesty purity suffuses the ultraclean palate and hints at an inner well of boundless lemon zest. This wine needs to develop but promises thrilling pleasure with its concentrated, whistle-clean and dry palate." 95 Points Wine Enthusiast

"Striking licorice and dried lemon peel on the nose. A bold and crisp wine with a lot of mineral character at the long and very dry finish. This will be quite challenging to pair with food, but it really is a special wine and not a jot too powerful. Drink or hold. Made from biodynamically grown grapes and Demeter certified."93 Points James Suckling

D. Coquelet Chiroubles 2015, 0.75L
Gamay from Chiroubles, Beaujolais

"The 2015 Chiroubles from Damien Coquelet is a fine, fine follow-up to his beautiful 2014 version. The lovely and sappy nose shows just a whisper of baked fruit elements in its mélange of black cherries, pomegranate, gamebird, violets, lovely soil tones and a topnote of woodsmoke. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and really nicely structured, with a sappy core harnessed behind a bit of tannin, bright acids and outstanding focus and grip on the long and still quite youthful finish. This is an absolutely superb young bottle of Chiroubles that seems to want to be a Morgon this year, as it shows uncanny structure for the long haul and is destined to be an absolutely gorgeous wine with a bit of bottle age. The hint of baked fruit tones meld beautifully into the vibrancy of the wine and really give this high class Chiroubles a bit of 1982 Bordeaux personality. It is approachable today, but I would opt for giving it at least a couple of years in the cellar to more fully blossom, as this is going to be a very uncharacteristically long-lived and epic bottle of Chiroubles." 93+ John Gilman

“Vivid ruby. Pungent red and blue fruit and floral scents are lifted by a zesty mineral note and a hint of white pepper. Palate-staining black raspberry and boysenberry flavors show excellent clarity and a spine of juicy acidity. Finishes sappy, sweet and very long, with subtle earth and floral pastille notes lingering.” Vinous 92 Points

P.M. Chermette Domaine du Vissoux Les Garants 2016, 0.75L
Gamay from Fleurie, Beaujolais

"In contrast to the Poncié bottling, the les Garants lieu à dit is located down in the section of Fleurie that borders on Moulin-à-Vent, and like the Coudert’s Clos de la Roilette, was actually once part of Moulin-à-Vent, rather than Fleurie. Monsieur Chermette gives this wine a bit of new oak, which works beautifully with the more structured personality of this cru, as it offers up a fine nose of black cherries, pomegranate, dark soil tones, gamebird, espresso and a touch of oak spice. On the palate the wine is deep, pure, full and potentially sappy at the core, with fine-grained tannins, excellent focus and grip and a very long, poised and nascently complex finish." 94 John Gilman

“Vivid ruby. Aromas of fresh dark berries, candied violet and smoky minerals pick up a hint of allspice with air. Sweet and nicely concentrated, offering juicy boysenberry and blackberry flavors and a touch of licorice. “A tight and alluring red with spice, chocolate and berry character. Full-bodied yet tight and composed. Beautiful length and balance. Give it time to show you what it has.” James Suckling 94 Points

“The wine from this estate perched high above Château Angélus is tight and mineral. While the dark dense tannins are to the fore, it also has great fruits. The acidity and the crisp texture give the wine both its intensity and its potential.” Wine Enthusiast 93 Points

“Ripe and fleshy, with a direct beam of raspberry and black currant confiture framed by a solid graphite edge. Lots of tobacco and licorice snap details hang in the background. Should age well.” Wine Spectator 92 Points

“The 2014 Bellevue is dark, plush and inviting. Black cherry, espresso, smoke, licorice, tobacco and bittersweet chocolate notes give the wine its distinctly modern, sumptuous feel. Canon 2009, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"John Kolasa mentioned that in 2009 he increased the percentage of Cabernet Franc up to 25% and that his intention is to dial it up to 35% in several years. The 2009 was matured in 60% new oak. This is more reticent on the nose, very classic in style but beautifully defined with just the right amount of reserve and austerity. The palate is fresh and very elegant, with disarmingly svelte, silky tannins. Good depth, not powerful but succulent and mineral-rich on the structured finish. Excellent – but it will need several years in bottle and is perhaps more 2010 in style than its peers." 96 Points Neal Martin

Canon 2015, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"The 2015 Canon was a benchmark wine that seemed to revitalize this historic estate. I was crossing my fingers that it would not disappoint in bottle and I am glad to say that it delivers the goods. It has a very intense bouquet (just as it showed out of barrel) with laser-like precision offering wild strawberry, raspberry preserve, wet limestone and hints of truffle. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, clean and fresh with pure black and red fruit whose every atom appears infused with minerals. The mouth is tingling long after the wine has exited and your brain is thinking...when is the next sip coming? It is frankly heads and shoulders above almost every Saint Émilion this vintage, to reaffirm, a benchmark for this historic estate that will give pleasure to many over the coming years. Clos du Marquis 2006, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Petit Verdot from St. Julien, Bordeaux

“Offers violet and blackberry on the nose, with tar. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a fruity, minerally aftertaste. Long and silky. Very serious for the vintage.” Wine Spectator 92 Points

“A beautifully perfumed, dark-colored wine, bursting with black plums and violet perfumes. It is, on the surface, delicious, but taste beneath that and it becomes complex and dark, with immense but velvet tannins, suggesting considerable potential.” Wine Enthusiast 91 Points

“Bright, full ruby-red. Ripe aromas of blackberry, kirsch, cedar and sexy oak. Rich, broad and pliant, with chewy, vibrant flavors of black fruits and licorice. This boasts excellent texture and depth for a second wine. Finishes with substantial dusty, fine tannins and excellent length. Clos du Marquis 2015, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Julien, Bordeaux

“Extremely perfumed with blackberries, plums and bark. Lemon-rind undertones. Full-bodied, creamy, velvety and voluptuous yet focused and pinpointed. Intense dark-berry and chocolate flavors. Really well done.” 95 Points James Suckling

“The 2015 Clos du Marquis is a blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc cropped at 39 hl/ha between 22 September and 9 October, a total of 15 days of picking. Matured in 50% new oak, it has a pure and harmonious bouquet with blackberry, sous-bois and subtle tobacco aromas that gently unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin in the mouth, a keen line of acidity, fine precision here with a mineral-rich finish that exudes terroir expression. This is a great Clos du Marquis from Jean-Hubert Delon and his team, a Clos du Marquis with swagger.” 91-93 Points Wine Advocate

“The 2015 Clos du Marquis is powerful and dense from the outset. Inky blue/purplish fruit, licorice, spice, lavender and licorice are all pushed forward in this decidedly plush, voluptuous Saint-Julien. Firm tannins give the wine explosive energy that carries through to the persistent finish. From barrel, the 2015 was much more forward, but from bottle my impression is that it is going to need at least a few years to be at its very best. There is a good bit of polish here that just needs time to fully emerge.” 92+ Points Vinous

Desmirail 2015, 0.75L

"The 2015 Desmirail has a nicely detailed bouquet with blackberry, briary and iris aromas, gaining intensity in the glass, a Margaux with commendable presence. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. This is saline in the mouth, quite brine-like towards the finish but I appreciate the length and persistence here. La Dame de Montrose 2010, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

“If this is the second wine of Château Montrose, I’d like to taste the grand vin! This is a delightful wine: the nose offers leafy and red-fruited Cabernet aromas – bright, with a high note of violet. Very stylish on nose and palate, with no sign of a super-ripe year. Lovely wine of real class.” 95 Points Huon Hooke

"One of the best second wines, and possibly the best since the 1990 is the 2010 La Dame de Montrose. This represents 36% of the production and is a blend of two grapes – 64% Cabernet Sauvignon and 36% Merlot. A superb second wine, opulent and substantively textured, it shares more in common with a flamboyant, exuberant year such as 2009 than most 2010s. Dense purple, its oodles of fruit, luxurious mouthfeel and terrific finish make it a sleeper of the vintage. It’s a wine to buy in abundant quantities . . ." Robert Parker 94 points.

"Beautiful aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries and dark chocolate. Some hot stones. Full-bodied, dense and chewy yet polished and juicy. Shows pretty length and density. Very clean and focused. Precise." James Suckling 94 Points

"The 2015 Le Petit Haut Lafitte is another terrific wine from Smith Haut Lafitte. Here, Cabernet Sauvignon speaks with authority. Black cherry, leather, earth, licorice and grilled herbs are all laced together, but it is the wine's pure power and structure that stand out most. Readers should plan on cellaring the 2015 for at least a few years, as it is far from an easygoing second wine." Vinous 92+ Points

"Composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot coming from the younger vines of Smith Haut Lafitte, the 2015 Le Petit Haut Lafitte sports a medium garnet-purple color and an alluring crushed red currants, black cherries and spice box-laced nose with touches of cloves and lavender. Medium to full-bodied with wonderful generosity and plenty of spice, the open-for-business flavors are well-supported by plush tannins, and it finishes with a peppery lift." Wine Advocate 90 Points

Marojallia 2012, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from Margaux, Bordeaux

ON SALE! Original Price: $53.99

“This is a spicy, fruity wine that has excellent acidity and a rounded, fruity character. It has some extraction, giving a bitter edge, while the final effect is a rich, juicy Merlot.” Wine Enthusiast 92-94 Points

“Another brilliant example from Murielle Andraud and her partner Jean-Luc Thunevin, the intense 2012 Marojallia (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) displays an opaque purple color and a beautiful nose of charcoal, graphite, blueberry and blackberry fruit. Some toasty oak is present, but the sweetness of the tannins, the multi-dimensional mouthfeel, and terrific length and intensity make this one of the great stars of 2012.” Robert Parker 93+ Points

“The 2012 Marojallia is powerful and explosive in the glass. A rush of dark red fruit hits the palate first, followed by white pepper, herbs, licorice and mint nuances that add shades of dimension. Marojallia is one of the most powerful, dark wines of Margaux. It is also one of the most distinctive. Readers should plan on cellaring the 2012 for at least a few years. The intensity and resonance here simply add to the wine's considerable appeal. The style is unabashedly ripe and flamboyant, but it all works.” Vinous 93 Points

“Refined texture, dry but not drying. Not especially generous in fruit but there's finesse here and subtlety and fine Cabernet fragrance, a little leafy and very fresh.” Jancis Robinson 17 Points

"Dark red. Lively. Good intensity. Young. Brilliant. Clean. Average color intensity. Fruity. Fine touches of caramel and licorice. Pure and fine. More powerful. More saline. Soft entry on the palate, very fruity, rounded and savory, developed, medium to full-bodied. The wine evolves toward juicy notes, always close to the fruit and melting in the mouth, with savor and power. Montrose 2000, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

“Just starting to open, it shows beautiful spices and dark fruit on the nose and palate. It’s full-bodied with ultra-fine, integrated tannins and an extremely complex, refined finish.” 96 Points James Suckling

“Tasted at the vertical in London, the question was whether the 2000 Montrose would be paradigmatic of a vintage whereby the wines have remained sullen and broody in their youth. On this occasion, to my surprise I found it more open than the 2005 (which admittedly is not saying that it's open for business!). It is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot picked from 22 September to 7 October. I afforded it a couple of hours in the glass and it responded with plenty of pure ripe blackberry and raspberry fruit, hints of cold slate and even charcoal emerging with time.”  94+ Points Wine Advocate

“Full red-ruby. Roasted, smoky aromas of blackberry, blueberry and licorice. Plush, dense and large-scaled; expands impressively in the mouth. Chocolatey-ripe but kept fresh by nicely integrated acidity. Offers lovely sweetness without going over the top. Finishes with big, dusty, horizontal tannins and lovely aromatic persistence. Offers extraordinary texture and depth of flavor for a wine with just 12.8% alcohol.” 94 Points Vinous

With an astounding dense purple color, the wine has velvety, sweet tannins, and an extremely open-knit and opulent blueberry, blackberry and creme de cassis nose. Palmer 2016, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc from Margaux, Bordeaux

Pre-Arrival

“"Technical Director Thomas Duroux and his team made one of the most brilliant wines of the 2016 vintage. Palmer is simply exceptional. Rich and dramatically sweeping in the glass, the 2016 is breathtaking. All the elements simply fall into place in a wine of mesmerizing beauty. The counterpoint of dark, sumptuous fruit and floral notes makes for an utterly compelling Palmer that will take its place among the estate's finest vintages. Dark cherry, lavender, spice and mocha are some of the many notes that build into a deep, substantial finish that is truly unforgettable. In a word: magnificent!"” Vinous 100 Points

“I wrote that the 2015 was incredible, and this 2016 is again. It’s equally structured and powerful as the 2015, yet there’s an underlying intellectual serenity to this wine. You taste it, and you want to know and experience it even more. Full and tannic yet ever so polished and beautiful. Mesmerizing. Made from biodynamically grown grapes.” James Suckling 99-100 Points

“Potentially an 100-point wine, this is beautifully ripe and rich, with sweet tannins as well as opulent black fruit tones. A higher than usual proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend gives the wine its density, sophistication and great sense of presence.” Wine Enthusiast 98-100 Points

“The grand vin represents 65% of production in 2016, the highest ever. It has many similarities in style with the 2001 and 1986, being a classically styled wine full of soft slate, fern, liquorice and cassis, but from the modern era where you can achieve so much more precision. This is a wine that makes you smile from the first sip, and keeps on getting better, caressing you gently across the palate. There is never any let up through the mid-palate, and the biodynamics that have been practised here for the past few years are clearly paying off. Elegant, utterly silky and precise, the structure is just effortless with reasonably fresh alcohols that are the result of late ripening. A perfect example of the appellation, it has the florality, density and slow tannic pace that means it takes you right along with it as the flavours build. Intellectual without being overbearing, and built to age. This is impressive stuff.” Decanter 98 Points

“The 2016 Palmer is a blend of 47% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot cropped at 29 hectoliters per hectare between 3 and 18 October. Matured in 65% new oak (my sample coming from a used barrel), the bouquet is perhaps not quite as intense as some of its peers and takes time to click into fifth gear. Eventually it offers tightly wound blackberry, briary and mineral scents; it is very focused, but maybe less extrovert and more classic in style compared to recent vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip on the entry, quite firm in the mouth with slightly tarry black fruit, hints of black truffle developing towards the finish that feels masculine and linear. It has very impressive length, completing what is an intellectual Palmer, one that I suspect will really blossom in bottle.” Wine Advocate 95-97 Points

“Very dark, velvety look - really bright. Complex and energetic. Not simple and sweet but quite a step change. Feels a little transitional because it's so different and more energetic than the old style. 65% new oak, as always, but the wine can absorb it better. Some bitter chocolate. Lots of sweetness. Energy and freshness.” Jancis Robinson 17.5+ Points

“Solidly built, with a warm ganache frame around a core of steeped plum and blackberry fruit. The toasty edge wins out on the finish for now, but the fruit is there. This should meld a bit more in the cellar.”  91 Points Wine Spectator

Petrus 1989, 0.75L
Merlot from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"This wine is more tightly knit, more tannic, but every bit the blockbuster concentrated effort that its younger sibling, the 1990, is. It seems to need more coaxing from the glass, but the color is virtually identical, a dense ruby/purple with no lightening at the edge. In the mouth the wine cuts a broad swath, with spectacular intensity, richness, massive concentration, and high levels of tannin, yet the wine is fabulously well-delineated and like its sibling, the 1990, has a finish that goes on for nearly a minute. It does not seem to be quite as evolved as the 1990, and my instincts suggest there is a bit more tannin, but both are as prodigious as Petrus can be." 100 Points Robert Parker

Phélan Ségur 2015, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

"This has an air of authority with pristine red fruits, cassis and leafy aromas that lead to a palate with a powerful core of fine, long and fresh tannins. Plenty of ageing potential here." James Suckling 94 Points

"This spicy wine shows how far the estate has moved from its over-use of new wood. In this bottling, the wood is subtle and doesn't mask the rich fruit and the juicy acidity. It still has the structure of a Saint-Estèphe while keeping everything in good balance. " Wine Enthusiast 93 Points

Potensac 2014, 1.5L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Médoc, Bordeaux

ON SALE! Original Price: $47.99

“It’s been a while since I had a Potensac like this. Aromatic, very structured and polished with currant character and wonderful length. Polished tannins. Exceptionally small production for this year.” James Suckling 91-92 Points

“With low yields after a hail storm, the wine is concentrated and dense. It has a touch of wood aging as well as dark black fruits. The tannins are firm in a wine that will age well over the medium term.” Wine Enthusiast 90 Points

“The 2014 Potensac offers striking intensity to match its bold, inviting personality. Blue and black stone fruit, grilled herbs, licorice and dark spices make a strong first impression. The Delon family makes a number of top-notch wines, and Potensac is arguably the hidden jewel in the range. Drink this exuberant Médoc over the next handful of years. The blend is 40% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot.” Vinous 90 Points

Potensac 2015, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Médoc, Bordeaux

"A clarity and transparency to this pretty red with currant, lemon-peel and lemon-grass character. Full body, very fine tannins and a pretty texture. Precise wine." James Suckling 92 Points

"The 2015 Potensac is just as beautiful from bottle as it was from barrel. Dark, succulent and super-expressive, the 2015 is a terrific choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. It does not have the aromatic expansiveness or body of the very best years, but in exchange, it will drink well pretty much upon release." Vinous 90 Points

"Pepper, savory and bay leaf notes lead the way, with a core of medium-weight cassis and cherry flavors. A tobacco hint and chalky minerality extend the finish, which has a pleasant austerity. A touch reticent in style, but will age well." Wine Spectator 90 Points

"While this wine has plenty of ripe tannins, the delicious blackberry fruit speaks loudest. Ripe, full and with a fine line of acidity, it is gently structured and likely to age well." Wine Enthusiast 90 Points

Smith Haut Lafitte 2009, 0.75L

"The finest wine ever made by proprietors Daniel and Florence Cathiard, the 2009 Smith-Haut-Lafitte exhibits an opaque blue/purple color in addition to a glorious nose of acacia flowers, licorice, charcoal, blueberries, black raspberries, lead pencil shavings and incense. This massive, extraordinarily rich, unctuously textured wine may be the most concentrated effort produced to date, although the 2000, 2005 and 2010 are nearly as prodigious. Tronquoy Lalande 2014, 0.75L
from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

“Another big, dark St.-Estèphe, but in spite of the rich body and some perceptible alcohol, there is also a cool, minty note. Slightly sweet finish in spite of all the tannins. Spice comes through at the end.” James Suckling 93 Points

“The 2014 Tronquoy-Lalande has a very composed bouquet with blackberry, tar and tobacco, very well defined and developing more red fruit than black with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin that render this quite masculine in style. Yes, for certain it is quite austere but I admire the balance of this wine and it offers good substance on the finish. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.” Vinous 90 Points

“A pure, racy version, with an iron-edged frame that keeps the red currant and damson plum fruit very focused. Mouthwatering tobacco and wet pebble accents are inlaid on the pleasantly austere finish. Well done.” Wine Spectator 90 Points

Vieux Château Certan 2011, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Cabernet Sauvignon from Pomerol, Bordeaux

""The Vieux Château Certan was cropped between 6th and 7th of September and from 14th until 20th September. That's what you'll read everywhere, although I was filming Alexandre when he was picking the final Cabernet around the 29th September! Cropped at 37hl/ha, it is a blend of 70% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon and (yay!) 29% Cabernet Franc. It delivers 13.6 degrees alcohol with a total acidity of 3.5gms/L and an IPT of 83. After the Cabernet Franc-less 2009 and 2010, this is more what I consider to be a classic VCC nose and as Alexandre, unlike those previous vintages that gives you everything up front, this is far more intellectual and enigmatic with hints of mineral laden fruit, limestone and small dark cherries. It is beautifully defined yet distant. The palate is succinctly balanced with crisp acidity, exceptional balance and superb backbone. There is an undercurrent of masculinity, a saline tincture, crushed stone and a touch of dried herbs and yet these are just fleeting hints. It has enormous length and it is one of the very few that could be on the same ethereal plateau as the 2009 and 2010 and perhaps one day ... even better. Tasted April 2012." 96-98 Points Neal Martin

d'Yquem 2007, 0.375L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

“Tasted single blind against its peers. Under blind conditions, the Yquem 2007 shines like a diamond. Nevertheless, it is initially rather taciturn on the nose, eventually opening up beautifully with touches of lemon curd, Mirabelle, and clear honey. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine definition and there seems to be a great deal of energy and vigor dispensed for your pleasure. There is such race and nervosity, and then that finish just purrs with harmony and focus. This Yquem feels just so alive and vivacious, yet there is an effortless quality here that is unmatched by its peers.” Wine Advocate 98 Points #199 Dec 2011

“Pale gold. Knockout nose of mirabelle, pineapple, spices and honey. Dense and thick but with racy acidity leavening the wine's liqueur-like flavors of peach, apricot and pineapple and imbuing it with superb energy. With aeration, this showed captivating notes of vanilla, toast and fresh and exotic herbs, plus a saline aspect on the very long finish. Still an infant, but already boasts terrific cut and purity of fruit. Director Pierre Lurton was thrilled to have a large quantity of wine at this high level of quality.” Vinous 95-98 Points

“Intense, with a wide range of maple, hazelnut-singed piecrust and apple crumble notes, all offset beautifully by a taut orange zest accent that imparts tension and length to balance the broad, rich core. Ends with a viscous feel and lingering energy.” Wine Spectator 96 Points

“Medium gold, already quite evolved. Heady stone fruits and honey on the nose, with generous fruit. Very sweet and succulent but there's fine acidity to balance the palate, which has beguiling sweetness. Very long, with a minty finish, but a tad evolved for a young Yquem.” Decanter 96 Points

d'Yquem 2010, 0.375L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

"The 2010 Château d’Yquem is an utterly stunning young wine and a very worthy follow-up to the magical wine produced at this estate in 2009. The bouquet is deep, complex and flat out brilliant, as it soars from the glass in a celestial mélange of pineapple, tangerines, a touch of passion fruit, honeycomb, beautifully complex and chalky soil tones, spring flowers and a very gentle touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, suave and utterly seamless, with great mid-palate depth, bright acids and surreal length and grip on the dancing and very intensely flavored finish. The 2010 d’Yquem is not quite as ethereally complex at this stage as the hauntingly beautiful 2009, but in terms of sheer quality, it seems likely to be every bit as profound." John Gilman 98+ Points

“Stunningly rich in character, a wine with great power to go with its acidity and sweetness. It is dense, powerful and concentrated powered by honey and by spice from the wood. The finish has dried apricots, very aromatic.” Wine Enthusiast 96-98 Points

“Deep yellow with a golden tinge. Intense aromas of very ripe tropical fruit, beeswax, honey and raisin are lifted by a strong mineral edge. Very fresh, rich and sweet on entry, then extremely light on its feet, with refined flavors of ripe citrus, mango, papaya, honey and saffron complicated by tangy botrytis. A very bright and focused Yquem, with lively acidity and a long, smooth, floral finish. Boasts impeccable balance and lovely precision. This terrific Yquem is very stylish but less massively opulent than vintages like 1989 and 1983.” Vinous 95-98 Points

“Rather restrained now, showing terrific purity and precision, with dried pineapple, persimmon and mango notes, offset by racy honeysuckle, white peach and chamomile hints. The extremely long finish sails on, switching to yet another spectrum, with green almond, green plum and coconut accents. A thread of quinine stitches this up at the very end.” Wine Spectator 96 Points

“This is a super balanced and racy Yquem with nuts. light pineapple and apple character. Full and dense but bright and fresh. Love the spicy botrytis with light apple tart and nuts on the finish…” James Suckling 94-95 Points

d'Yquem 2013, 0.75L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux

*This bottle has wine stained label

“Bright aromas of sliced mangoes, papaya, botrytis, and lemon follow through to a full body. Medium sweet with a phenolic palate that gives the wine structure and beauty. Electric acidity and freshness combined with impressive energy and length. A strict selection was made. 40% of the production was destined to the grand vin. About 80,000 bottles made. This is 70% semillion and 30% sauvignon blanc.” James Suckling 98 Points

“Lightly toasted marshmallow and macadamia nut aromas lead the way, followed by incredibly juicy mirabelle plum, green fig, and glazed pear and peach flavors. As big as this is, there are still plenty of honeysuckle, quinine and chamomile notes kicking the finish into yet another gear. This has purity and length to burn, with decades more to go.” Wine Spectator 98 Points

“Firstly, you notice the color, which is a touch deeper than recent vintages at this stage. The bouquet is quite honeyed and rich for Yquem at this early juncture, with subtle scents of peach skin, white flowers, and a puff of chalk and frangipane. The palate is viscous on the entry, all about the texture at first, coating the mouth with luscious botrytized fruit. There are touches of Seville orange marmalade, fresh apricot, a hint of spice and passion fruit. This is imbued with impressive depth and weight, perhaps an Yquem that is determined to make an impression after last year-s absence. It might not possess the finesse of a top flight Yquem, but it has immense power and persistency.” Wine Advocate 95-97 Points

de La Dauphine 2015, 0.75L

“Very pretty aromas of perfume, currants and orange peel follow through to a full body, round and chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Solid and structured.” James Suckling 92 Points

“Offers an enticing core of plum, black currant and raspberry paste flavors that are mixed with light charcoal, licorice and singed alder notes. This has energy to match its range through the finish. Merlot and Cabernet Franc.” Wine Spectator 91 Points

“The 2015 La Dauphine is potent, but also remains relatively light on its feet next to other Fronsacs in this vintage. Inky red/purplish fruit, floral notes and spice are among the signatures. Arlaud Clos de la Roche 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Morey St. Denis, Burgundy

“Medium red. Aromas of strawberry, raspberry, flowers and spices. Juicy on entry, then suave and light on its feet in the middle, with dense red berry flavors accented by white pepper, mint and flowers. This is a live wire in the mouth but it's also seamless and refined. The very subtle, slowly mounting finish displays a touch of medicinal bitterness that stimulates the salivary glands. Arlaud noted that his grand cru vineyards yielded 30 to 32 hectoliters per hectare in 2015, which he described as good for a dry year and "better balanced as a result." The berries were small in 2015 but not nearly as tiny as those in 2003, when the same vineyards produced barely 20 hectoliters per hectare.” Vinous 93-95 Points

“The 2015 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has an expressive bouquet with vibrant raspberry and wild strawberry scents, a touch of gravel and granite developing with continued aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a candied opening, plenty of blood orange and even tangerine permeating the black fruit with a sweet, opulent finish that would benefit from just a tad more restraint. Good potential though and there seems to be a budding sense of joie de vivre.” Wine Advocate 92-94 Points

“Reduction flattens the nose. Otherwise there is excellent punch to the bigger, richer and more muscular flavors that possess a supple mid-palate thanks to the abundance of tannin-buffering dry extract that also coats the mouth on the focused, serious and slightly austere finish. This too is going to require a certain amount of patience.” Allen Meadows - Burghound 91-94 Points

"Dark, bright red. Medicinal black cherry on the reticent nose. Concentrated and very primary, conveying a strong impression of energy to the flavors of black cherry, raspberry, licorice and menthol. Very pulpy wine, like chewing on grapes. A powerful rather than elegant style of Volnay (this fruit was picked at a high 13% potential alcohol), with the very long finish showing a firm tannic spine that Bitouzet says is typical of this wine. A step up in volume and palate presence from the juicy, penetrating, stony Les Aussy (rated 89 last year and again this fall), conveying a silky texture to its cherry tart and spice flavors. Spreads out horizontally to coat the mouth on the classically dry, fine-grained finish, which features suave tannins and subtle flavor intensity. This wine starts off with serious punch and finishes with finesse." Vinous 91 Points

Chandon de Briailles Corton Charlemagne 2014, 0.75L

"A classic nose of green apple, citrus peel, white fruit and wet stone introduces racy, ultra-intense and almost aggressively mineral-driven flavors that don't possess the sheer weight and power of the Corton-Blanc but are a good deal finer and with better delineation on the hugely long finish. This will definitely need a few years to flesh out and develop more depth but everything appears to be present to permit that to happen." Burghound 93 points.

Chandon de Briailles Corton-Clos du Roi 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Aloxe Corton, Burgundy

". . . there is a lovely vibrancy and freshness in the mouth with plenty of sauvage character present on the velvety and caressing big-bodied and muscular flavors that coat the mouth thanks to the abundance of dry extract that also serves to buffer the very firm tannins on the moderately austere, serious and hugely long finish. As good as this is though it's not clear at this very early juncture whether it will ultimately surpass the Bressandes. Still, both possess outstanding development potential and are of first-rate quality." Burghound 93 points

Chandon de Briailles Pernand Vergelesses Ile de Vergelesses Rouge 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Pernand Vergelesses, Burgundy

"According to Claude de Nicolay, their parcels in Île de Vergelesses “were just touched by the hail” and the damage was very minimal, so they were able to use forty percent whole clusters for this wine in 2014. The wine has turned out beautifully and is very refined in this vintage, wafting from the glass in a blend of cherries, red currants, stony soil tones, venison, a touch of cinnamon and a bit of bonfire in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and focused beautifully, with a fine core, lovely, chewy and ripe tannins and a long, mineral-driven finish. This has really turned out beautifully . . ." 92+ John Gilman

"The 2015 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Hameau de Blagny was too reduced on the nose for me to read this barrel sample. The palate is much more indicative of where this wine is going to go: tensile from the start, steely with vibrant acidity. This demonstrates fine weight in the mouth, a keen line of acidity, a dash of spice on the tight-wound finish that will clearly require 4-5 years to really find its groove, which it will." 90-92 Points Wine Advocate

Domaine Méo-Camuzet Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Murgers 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Nuits St. Georges, Burgundy

"The 2015 Murgers chez Méo is one of the ripest premier crus in the cellar this year, coming at a full 13.9 percent octane, but it shows absolutely no signs of sur maturité on either the nose or the palate. The bouquet is pure, complex and flamboyant, as it offers up scents of sappy black cherries and dark berries, espresso, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, gamebird and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with fine-grained tannins, superb focus and grip and a very, very long, vibrant and utterly refined finish. I remember well drinking the 1989 and 1990 Méo-Camuzet wines in their youth and this is remarkably similar!" 94 Points John Gilman, View From the Cellar

“More restrained on the nose than the Vers Pouilly but very ripe and deep, offering complex scents of soft citrus fruits, peach pit and flesh, nuts, menthol, white pepper and minerals. Large-scaled, plush and deep but with lovely minerality and well-integrated acidity enabling the wine to maintain its balance. Still holding plenty in reserve, this big boy will need time in bottle to absorb its baby fat and alcohol. Makes the Vers Pouilly seem almost tart by comparison. Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Morey St. Denis, Burgundy

“This is such a perfumed wine with deceptively soft tannins and great fruit. The acidity is classic for the vintage, with raspberries and intense freshness at the end. It has a fine line of tannins and a life that will go far.” Wine Enthusiast 96 Points

“The 2014 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru is matured in 50% new oak and is 100% whole bunch fruit. It is blessed with a winsome bouquet. As usual, there is something very natural, unimposing and refined on the nose: blackberry and briary, a hint of graphite, a subtle leafiness maybe, and yet delineated and very pure. The palate is lively and energetic with crisp tannin, black rather than red fruit, linear and very classic in style with what you might call a "cool" marine-influenced finish that has fine salinity. What a great Clos des Lambrays that will put a smile on the face of those that adore refined Burgundy.” Wine Advocate 93-95 Points

“Spicy, exuding sandalwood, nutmeg, vanilla, floral and wild cherry flavors. Silky in texture and firmly structured. Accents of bay leaf and green olive seep into the mix as this fans out on the long aftertaste.” Wine Spectator 94 Points

“Medium red. Highly complex, aromatic nose combines raspberry, underbrush, flowers and spices. Juicy, energetic and mineral-driven, if a bit youthfully imploded (and still affected by the bottling). Not a fat wine but with its flavors of red berries, mocha, earth and brown spices it's an essence of Morey-Saint-Denis. The acids and tannins are not at all aggressive, which should give this grand cru relatively early accessibility.” Vinous 92 Points

“Some evidence of new oak and drive here. Edgy with some nuttiness. Lots of savour and tight build. One of the most youthful 2014s.” Jancis Robinson 17+ Points

“Complex, ripe, soil-driven scents of black raspberry, smoke and underbrush. Utterly seamless and sweet on the palate, conveying a noble texture to its flavors of dark berries, crushed rock and smoke. There's something Musigny-like here, and André Esmonin notes that the rocky, sandy soil is not unlike that of Musigny. More harmonious today than the Mazy-Chambertin, finishing with fine-grained tannins and outstanding subtle rising length. Left behind a captivating floral perfume in the empty glass. With a bit of swirling in the glass the wine blossoms very nicely to offer up a lovely aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, gamebird, woodsmoke, a very complex base of soil, violets, cocoa and a touch of cedary wood. Hudelot-Noëllat Romanée-Saint-Vivant 2013, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Vosne Romanee, Burgundy

"The 2013 Romanée-St.-Vivant from Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat was another late malo finisher and the wine was still on the grumpy side at the time of my visit, with a fairly expressive nose currently coupled to an out of sorts palate impression, but this will clearly be outstanding. The bouquet offers up a fabulous constellation of raspberries, cherries, blood orange, beautiful spice tones, lavender, complex soil nuances, fresh nutmeg and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure and quite poised (despite its grumpy nature at the time of my visit), with fine mid-palate depth, nascently complexity, ripe tannins and superb length and grip on the tangy finish. This is going to be very, very special when it reaches its zenith." John Gilman 95-97

"The 2013 Romanée Saint Vivant Grand Cru has a gorgeous bouquet with vibrant red berry fruit, wilted rose petals, a touch of lavender coming through with time. There is real vigor and generosity here. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a firm structure. There is wonderful depth and body that forms the foundation of this wine, coming across a little more masculine than the 2014, exerting a firm grip with a slightly curmudgeonly finish that just needs time to mellow. This is excellent."Wine Advocate 95 points.

“Deep red with ruby highlights. Sexy aromas and flavors of primary dark berries, black raspberry and cocoa powder complicated by spicy oak tones. Thick yet lively on entry; a youthfully imploded but utterly seamless wine with outstanding energy and depth. For all its density, this tactile, saline wine shows a magically light touch. Really builds and lingers on the superb rising finish, which features noble tannins. Still a baby, this grand cru has a great future.Stephen Tanzer 94+ points.

Hudelot-Noëllat Romanée-Saint-Vivant 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Vosne Romanee, Burgundy

“The 2014 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru was tasted from a one-year-old barrel, though the final blend will include 50% new oak. It has a beautifully defined bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and a hint of fig, somehow effortless and wonderfully transparent. The palate is medium-bodied with sensual, quite ripe tannins. There is good volume here, impressive density and yet the overriding feeling is one of refinement. Then just on the finish there is something spicy, almost earthy, as it gently fans out. This is an exquisite Romanée-Saint-Vivant in the making.” Wine Advocate 94-96 Points

“Deep, dark red. Brooding, youthfully medicinal aromas of red cherry, dark berries, mocha and cocoa powder. "More restrained and compact than their Les Chaumes, it seems. Approachable tannin, lovely savoury finish with a light spiciness. Seems to have the stuffing to last . . ." Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com

Chezeaux owns a bit more than one-third of a hectare in this elite lieu-dit which sits opposite Richebourg and Romanée Saint Vivant. We purchase a bit more than one barrel per annum and put a small amount of this very great wine in magnum to honor its exceptional quality.” – Rosenthal Wine Merchant

"From vines on the slope rather than the plain, which generally give substantially better fruit. Ripe and fresh aromas are comprised by notes of plum, newly turned earth and a touch of the sauvage. Rollin Savigny-Les-Beaune Aux Grands Liards 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Savigny-lès-Beaune, Burgundy

"This wine is the newest addition to the Rollin domaine. The first vintage produced was in the 2007 vintage. The vineyard is situated midway between the villages of Pernand Vergelesses and Savigny-les-Beaune as one moves in a southwesterly direction from Pernand. The first wines produced by the Rollin family from this vineyard show the wine to be surprisingly firm and structured with a density rare to find in the Savigny appellation. Again, an instance where we bottle a few magnums each year based upon our belief that this wine has significant capacity to grow as it ages. This small holding permits us the privilege of purchasing slightly more than a single barrel per year (300 bottles plus some magnums)." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Suave, firm and a bit youthfully tight, conveying very good definition and lift but less obvious sweetness than the Poruzot. Less rich and tactile than the Poruzot but this village wine boasts penetrating minerality and an energetic, slowly mounting finish. It has clearly benefited from its higher-altitude site in 2015." Jobard noted that his 2015s finished with about 2.5 grams per liter residual sugar, which he said was higher than usual, and that the added sweetness gives the wines a creamy, unctuous character. Samuel Billaud Chablis Bougros 2015, 1.5L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"The 2015 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros has a splendid bouquet . . . . There is real delineation and poise here, with walnut and smoke emerging with time and struck flint emerging later. The palate is well defined with a fine bead of acidity (although the acidity level is lower than in Blanchot). Touches of blackcurrant leaf and quince dovetail into a very energetic finish that lingers for over a minute. Superb . . . . Through his contacts, there is also an expansion of his portfolio so that from the 2015 vintage he now has a full complement of six grand crus to his name. I asked Samuel about the 2016 vintage. “The average yield was between 15 and 30 hectoliters per hectare, around half the normal production . . . . This was a fantastic set of wines from Billaud  . . . . One can speculate whether he would have been able to achieve such quality had he still vinified the wines in the temporary facility he occupied beforehand—I think not. That should take nothing away from a skilled and experienced winemaker whose approach I think is spot on, in particular his assiduous use of used barrels that do not impede upon the terroir expression and a judicious use of reduction that lends complexity without dictating the taste. The 2015s and 2016s might have been born under trying circumstances, but with the new winery up and running, who knows what brilliant wines lie around the corner." 93 Points Wine Advocate

Samuel Billaud Chablis Les Fourneaux 2015, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"The 2015 Chablis 1er Cru Fourneaux was described as “gourmand” by Samuel Billaud. It comes from south to southeast-facing vines planted in 1971. It has a potent, slate-like scent that is clean and precise. I admire the precision here. The palate is well balanced with a citrus peel and fresh lime opening. It is quite harmonious in the mouth with a tang of stem ginger that perks up the finish. It just misses that persistence on the finish but otherwise it captures that fiery edge that makes it thoroughly enjoyable." 91 Points Wine Advocate

Samuel Billaud Chablis Mont de Milieu 2015, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"The 2015 Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu was matured in 20% barrel and 80% stainless steel for 18 months. It has a clean and precise bouquet that needs more coaxing than the more forward Les Fourneaux, with touches of hazelnut and smoke emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with an attacking entry, malic in the mouth and with a very saline finish. This is a straight-down-the-line classic Chablis that is perhaps more 2014 in style than 2015. This is nothing short of excellent." 92 Points Wine Advocate

It has a complex bouquet with sea spray/flint aromas at first, a touch of Golden Delicious apple and smoked walnut. Sylvain Morey Santenay Grand Clos Rousseau 2015, 0.75L

"Sylvain was most excited to inherit this full .40-hectare holding from his father.  Planted in 1993, the Grand Clos Rousseau was always the top red wine from Jean-Marc Morey and always the most impressive old wine from his cellar.  Intensely aromatic, with rich red fruits, savory earthy tones and sweet tannins, this over-achiever often stands up to the best reds of the Cote de Beaune. Wonderfully silky and sweet but with surprising verve and tension to its red berry, spice and salty mineral flavors. "The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeots Les Fairendes is a little straight-laced following on from the Chenevottes and perhaps does not quite deliver the same tension and mineralité. The palate is well balanced with good weight in the mouth, leaning slightly towards the nuttiness of a Meursault, and displaying convincing vigour if not life-affirming complexity on the "correct" finish. This is a more difficult to Chassagne to understand at the moment and deserves 3-4 years in bottle." Wine Advocate 90+ points.

Y. Clerget Volnay Clos du Verseuil 2016, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Burgundy

"Bright red-ruby. Musky, complex soil tones along with black cherry and mocha on the nose. Quite suave and silky on entry, conveying a relaxed quality (production here was 42 hectoliters per hectare) but no shortage of concentration. In fact, this is a wonderfully classy, supple wine with sexy sweetness and rocky energy (the mother rock is close to the surface here). Soil and spice notes add flavor interest. Consistent from start to finish, this quintessential, refined Volnay spreads out on the back end to saturate the mouth, with its tannins fully buffered by fruit." Vinous 92-94 Points

"Much more discreet, if not invisible, wood sets off pure, cool and restrained aromas of red currant, raspberry and soft floral wisps. There is really lovely vibrancy to the detailed, sleek and refined medium weight flavors that brim with both minerality and dry extract that serves to buffer the distinctly firm tannic spine shaping the lingering and beautifully balanced finale. This too is really quite good and worth considering." Burghound 91-93 Points

Y. Clerget Volnay Les Santenots 2016, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Burgundy

"A more deeply pitched array is composed mostly of plum liqueur, dark cherry and notably more earth influence. There is also more volume and muscle though less refinement to the medium-bodied flavors that deliver excellent length on the focused and sneaky long finale." Burghound 90-93 Points

"Bright red-ruby. Very ripe aromas of black raspberry, flowers and earth show a bit less lift than those of the Carelle Sous La Chapelle. In a rather closed phase today; chunkier, drier and less elegant than the Carelle but still finer-grained than its 2015 sibling, offering flavors of dark berries, medicinal cherry stomp and licorice. Here the serious dusty tannins arrive early, saturating the front teeth and incisors. Finishes with a suggestion of menthol reserve." Vinous 90-91 Points

Bollinger R.D. 2004, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne

*Champagne of the Year* -"Time has graced this wine, proving the value of Bollinger’s policy of long aging on the lees followed by prompt release after disgorgement. This RD (Recently Disgorged) 2004 is a joyous wine, staunch, cold and powerful at first, transforming to fresh fruit shadowed by darker tones of barrel fermentation. As it opens in the glass, revealing racy energy, a range of floral pear and apple flavors emerge, resonant with a sense of limestone capturing the sun and reflecting it back in pale power. Enjoy this over the course of an evening as its presence shifts, providing varied perspectives on a great Champagne." 98 Points Wine & Spirits

"Fermented in oak barrels and aged under natural corks for almost 13 years, Bollinger's 2004 R. D. Extra Brut blends 66% Pinot Noir with 34% Chardonnay from 16 crus, 88% of which are classified as Grand Cru. The wine opens with a very clear, deep, rich and aromatic but also pure and mineral-fresh nose of crushed rocks, cherries, brioche, pain aux raisin, white nougat, chalk and ripe, yellow-fleshed fruits. Highly elegant and complex on the weightless yet persistent and salty palate, this is an intense, densely woven, firmly structured yet elegant, beautifully refined and refreshing "recent disgorgement" (February 2018) that reveals just a kiss of oxidative flavors that adds even more complexity. A great Champagne on its way to improve over many years in the bottle. Tasted June 2018." 97 Points Robert Parker

In the glass the wine has a luminous golden color and an intense and fresh aroma from the fullness of the fruit with notes of citrus, ripe passion fruit, star anise and gooseberry, followed by a gourmandize sensation of hazelnut butter and toasted barley with a saline hint that will return in the flavor but which in the nose is a cloud of chalk. Philipponnat Clos de Goisses Extra Brut 2009, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Chardonnay from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Champagne

"The 2009 Clos des Goisses, tasted from a trial disgorgement, is more than a worthy follow up to the stunning 2008. Bright, focused and powerful, with terrific freshness for the year, the 2009 is pure sensuality. To be sure, there is plenty of vintage 2009 radiance to the citrus, orchard fruit and pastry flavors, but the blocked-malo style helps the wine retain plenty of verve. The 2009 is 61% Pinot Noir and 39% Chardonnay, with no malolactic fermentation. Charles Philipponnat chose to scale down the number of lots fermented in oak to 37% in order to temper some of the natural richness of the year. Veuve Fourny et Fils Grande Réserve Brut NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay / Pinot Noir from Vertus, Champagne

"The NV Brut Grande Réserve 1er Cru is bright and energetic, but also a touch ethereal in feel, especially on the mid-palate. Almond, chamomile, dried flowers and lemon are all nicely delineated in the glass. The presence of Pinot is felt in the wine's fruit profile and overall feel. Hints of smoke, licorice, dried flowers and mint add intrigue throughout. Disgorged: February 2017. Dosage is 6 grams per liter." 91 Point Antonio Galloni

Mas Cal Demoura Terrasses du Larzac Combariolles 2012, 0.75L
Syrah / Mourvèdre / Carignan / Grenache from Terrasses du Larzac, Languedoc-Roussillon

"A step up from the l'Infidele (in price as well), the 2012 Terrasses du Larzac Les Combariolles is made from 40% Syrah, 40% Mourvèdre, 15% Carignan and small splash of Grenache. Brought up all in 500-600-liter demi-muids (25% new), it has a modern ting to its crème de cassis, blackberry, crushed flowers, spice and creamy vanilla aromatics. This is followed by a full-bodied, seamless 2012 that has superb mid-palate depth, fine tannin and a blockbuster finish. It’s superb on all accounts, and should have a decade or more of overall longevity." 93 Points Wine Advocate

"The entry level 2012 Terrasses du Larzac l’Infidele is a blend of 30% Syrah, 25% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, 15% Carignan and the balanced Cinsault. Completely destemmed, vinified in stainless steel and concrete tanks, and aged 12 months in 15% new demi-muids, it’s a complete, balanced red that offers lots of currants and assorted dark fruits, smoked earth, licorice and subtle barrique characteristics. Bernard Baudry Chinon La Croix Boissee 2015, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc from Chinon, Loire

"Bernard Baudry, now joined by his son Matthieu, is a master of terroir-driven winemaking in the Loire Valley. Cabernet Franc is the common denominator here, but the Baudry vineyards span a range of soil types—sand, gravel, clay, limestone, chalk—yielding fascinatingly diverse expressions of the same grape. La Croix Boissée is among the domaine’s deepest, most complex, and longest-aging reds: sourced from a south-facing slope of clay over white tuffeau limestone, this cuvée demonstrates the grandeur and finesse Cabernet Franc is capable of achieving in the right site. Aged for two years in oak and bottled unfiltered, this high-caliber red could humiliate many a Bordeaux sold for ten times the price. Its trademark is a rich aroma of ripe black fruits, a mouthwatering acidity, and dense, chalky tannins that provide a clean, pure, refreshing finish." Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant

Lucien Crochet Sancerre 2016, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre, Loire

"The grapes for this basic cuvée of Sancerre are sourced from the vineyards in Bué, Vinon and Crézancy. After harvest, fermentation is done in stainless steel cuves at temperatures between 14 and 18 degrees Celsius. As with all the whites at the domaine, this wine sits in contact with the fine lies for a considerable period of time with the racking being done late in the spring following harvest. The first bottling occurs no earlier than July and frequently does not occur until September of the year following harvest." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Pascal Cotat Sancerre Les Monts Damnes 2016, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre, Loire

"Located in the western portion of the Sancerre appellation, Chavignol has a unique type of soil called, in French, “terres blanches.” The region is essentially a chalk plateau (the same vein as is found in Chablis) with clay and limestone soils. The top vineyards, ‘Monts Damnés,’ ‘Grande Côte,’ and ‘Les Culs de Beaujeu,’ are perched on steep hillsides with little topsoil. Cotat as a rule harvests by hand and very late, as pushing ripeness to the extreme is one element that gives these wines their weighty texture and complexity. While Cotat is not organically certified, his habits are more or less according to organic principles. He does not treat his vines with pesticides; uses only indigenous yeasts for fermentation; and follows the lunar cycle for racking. Wines are barrel-fermented in older demi-muids and aged in larger tonneaux. All wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. Pascal Cotat’s few vines in this very steep vineyard [Monts Damnés] are at the top of the slope, where soils are thin and vines feed directly into the chalky mother rock. 30+-year-old vines. Aromas of melons, fresh herbs, white flowers; a delicate note of sea salt. Creamy yet light on the tongue; poached white fruits, lime zest, grapefruit. Very long." North Berkley Imports

Philippe Gilbert Menetou-Salon Rouge 2015, 0.75L

Domaine du Bagnol Cassis Blanc 2017, 0.75L
Marsanne / Clairette Blanche / Trebbiano from Cassis, Provence

"(51%) is the dominant grape variety complemented by Clairette Blanc (31%) and some Ugni Blanc (18%). The vineyards to produce the white wine at Bagnol cover a bit less than 9 hectares and are planted on a gentle slope of clay and limestone soil with a north – northwest exposure. After a manual harvest, the grapes are destemmed and pressed; the fermentation continues for three weeks in cement cuves at a temperature controlled 18 degrees Celsius; the wine is vinified completely dry. The malo-lactic fermentation is blocked to preserve the freshness of the wine and the wine is normally bottled at some point between May and July of the following year. . ."  Rosenthal Wine Merchant
