Leoville Poyferre 2017, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Julien, Bordeaux
"Based on a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, the 2017 Chateau Leoville-Poyferre saw malolactic in barrels and spent 18 months in 80% new French oak. Sporting a deep ruby/purple hue, it delivers big, powerful notes of blackberries, blackcurrants, crushed violets, tobacco, and a touch of chocolate. Possessing medium to full-bodied richness, a rounded, opulent texture, and sweet tannins, it’s unquestionably one of the biggest, richest wines in the vintage. Give bottles 4-6 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following 2-3 decades. Tasted twice."

Leoville Las Cases 2019, 1.5L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from St. Julien, Bordeaux
"The 2019 Léoville Las Cases is a brilliant young wine that will delight Bordeaux purists. Unwinding in the glass with scents of cassis, dark berries, cigar wrapper and pencil shavings, it’s full-bodied, layered and tightly wound, with a deep core of fruit, lively acids and an abundance of rich, powdery tannins. Concentrated and serious, much like its immediate neighbor Château Latour, it is likely to emerge as one of the vintage’s longest lived—and greatest—wines."

Dunn Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvingon from Howell Mountain, California
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is outrageously beautiful. A wine of extraordinary purity, the 2019 dazzles right out of the gate. The tannins are nearly silky for a young Howell Mountain Cabernet. Red/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, rose petal and pomegranate all build in this sumptuous, explosive Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 is one of the most elegant Cabernets I have tasted here, and that is saying something What a wine." 98 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Michel Rolland Cabernet Sauvignon MR 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
"A joint project between consultant winemakers Michel Rolland and Jean Hoefliger. Hoefliger chooses the grapes, harvests and ferments the wine, and Rolland joins for blending sessions. Fruit comes from the Sleeping Lady and Denali vineyards plus a secret site. Lavish aromas of violets, blue fruits and sweet cedar. The palate rides waves of saturated black fruit and brown spices, tethered by fine-grained tannins and savoury baking spice oak notes. 700 cases made in 2019, building great momentum since the first 2010 release. (Drink between 2022-2045)" 97 Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter
"A collaboration between famed consultants Michel Rolland and Jean Hoefliger, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic, all-American, opulent Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that just about jumps out of the glass with its massive cassis, blueberry, classy oak, spice, and floral aromas and flavors. It brings serious fruit and texture, is full-bodied, has sweet tannins, and no hard edges, all making for an undeniably delicious Cabernet Sauvignon that can be drunk today or cellared for 15-20 years. Arnot-Roberts Cabernet Sauvignon Fellom Ranch 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Santa Cruz Mountains, California
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Fellom Ranch is the most broodingly tannic wine in this range. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2019 is incredibly tightly wound today. Time in the glass brings out all of that Santa Cruz Mountains savoriness and intensity. Leather, iron, scorched earth and tobacco fill out the layers over time. Fellom Ranch typically produces small berries and small juice yields. That natural intensity is especially evident in the 2019. (Drink between 2027-2044)" 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com

Haut-Bailly II 2019, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux
"Wow, dark berries and violets on the nose, so sensuous, smells rich and round. Beautifully fresh on the palate, there is a real zing and burst of red fruit juiciness but also a lovely cooling freshness straight from the start. Almost has a blue fruit touch but there's strawberries, raspberries and red cherries too. Smooth tannins with a gently chalky grip that coat the mouth giving structure and body. So linear and straight yet also layered, nothing is too overt or in your face - precise and really elegant. I love this - gentle and well presented. Excellent. A blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. (Drink b0etween 2024-2039)" 94 Georgia Hindle, Decanter

Poujeaux 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Moulis-en-Médoc, Bordeaux

"The 2018 Poujeaux has an intense bouquet featuring layers of blackberry and bilberry fruit, a light marine scent and a lingering a patina of oak that still needs time to be subsumed. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet entry, plush and very pliant tannins framing a Poujeaux of impressive volume and grip. Clos Manou 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Médoc, Bordeaux
"From an 18-hectare estate planted at a density of around 10,000 vines per hectare, the 2019 Clos Manou is a serious wine. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berry fruit, cigar wrapper, licorice and espresso roast, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with terrific concentration, lively acids and plenty of ripe, powdery tannin that will reward a bit of bottle age. It's closed with an Ardeaseal technical cork as used by Burgundy's Domaine Ponsot among others. This estate merits a mention in any list of Bordeaux's finest under-the-radar producers." 92+ William Kelley, Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Clos Manou has a ripe, extroverted bouquet of black cherries, mulberry, rose petal and slight confit aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy ripe tannins, fleshy and generous. Philip Togni Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvginon from Spring Mountain District, California
"Taking lots of air to show at its best, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a brilliant, classic, age-worthy wine from this great estate. It certainly shows the more structured, vibrant style of the 2018 vintage with lively acids, yet it has utterly classic Cabernet crème de cassis and almost blue fruits as well as Bordeaux-like notes of lead pencil, cedarwood, tobacco, and assorted floral nuances. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it brings rock-solid intensity, perfectly ripe yet building, firm tannins, and again, the vintage's freshness, purity, and elegance. It reminds me of a top Saint-Julien and classic, old school, structured Cabernet that will reward bottle age. It needs 7-8 years to hit maturity (it's approachable today with a healthy decant), and I have no doubt this will be a 30- to 40-year wine." 97 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com
"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is sensual and polished. Bright acids lend energy as this super-finessed Cabernet opens in the glass. Crushed red berry fruit, cedar, rose petal and mint all open with a bit of coaxing. The 2018 is going to need a number of years to be at its very best. It is elegant, nuanced and simply impeccable, but also a bit reticent at this stage. Readers who are familiar with these wines know they need time to come into their own. If that is not possible, I suggest opening it well in advance, even a day or two." 96+ Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com
"Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate offers up intense notes of crushed black currants, fresh blackberries and ripe red plums with hints of pencil lead, black raspberries, underbrush and unsmoked cigars plus a touch of tapenade. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers bold, crunchy black and red berry layers with a lively backbone and firm, grainy tannins, finishing long and energetic." 96+ Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate

Cabreo Toscana Il Borgo 2018, 0.75L
Sangiovese / Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from Tuscany, Tuscany
"This is a very pretty, with currant, cherry and some mahogany and cigar-box character. It’s medium-to full-bodied with tight, linear tannins that are long and very intense. Polished nicely. Hard not to drink now, but better in 2024 and onwards." 94 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com
"A blend of equal parts Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the 2018 Il Borgo is a renewed wine with this vintage. Past editions saw a blend of mostly Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon in a supporting role. This release is softer on the mid-palate with darkly extracted fruit. The wine reveals dark cherry, spice and hints of bittersweet chocolate that give it a very contemporary, accessible personality. Fruit is sourced from across 40 hectares of vine." 92 Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Feb 2023

"Grilled meat, bacon fat, tobacco and olives to the nose that follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate with rich, creamy tannins. 58% syrah, 31% cabernet sauvignon, 11% petit verdot. Drink now or hold." 94 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, Sep 2022

Dunn Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvingon from Napa Valley, California
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a powerful, tannic wine. In some vintages, the Napa Valley bottling is quite accessible, but not here. Swaths of tannin wrap around a core of dark fruit, gravel, spice, dried flowers, lavender and charred earth are pushed forward, with firm, chocolatey tannins that wrap it all together. This brooding, potent Cabernet needs at least a few years to settle. The 2019 is a bruiser, that is for sure. (Drink between 2024-2039)" 93+ Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Château de Plaisance Anjou Sur La Butte 2021, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc from Anjou, Loire
“Vanessa Cherruau is a steward of one of the Loire’s great terroirs – Chaume. After finishing wine school in Angers, she worked throughout the wine industry for 12 years before befriending the Rochais family on the Chaume hill, who owned Château de Plaisance (more a farmhouse than Château) and its 25 hectares of vines growing on the schist bedrock of the appellation. With plans to sell the historic estate to the local cooperative, Vanessa convinced the family to sell to her instead, allowing her to continue the fine legacy they left, while forging a new path for Loire greatness. Luckily for Vanessa, she inherited some of the most well-cared for vines on the hill, as Plaisance has been certified organic since 1995 and certified biodynamic since 2008. She of course has continued the biodynamic viticulture started by her predecessors, knowing that taking care of the natural environment of the vines is of utmost importance. Since her first vintage in 2019, she has helped raise the image of dry Chenin made on the Chaume hill to where it is now one of the most intriguing Chenin terroirs in the Loire. Only 10km south of Savennières, Chaume is a sweet-wine-only appellation (Quarts de Chaume Grand Cru and Coteaux de Layon 1er Cru Chaume), and so Vanessa and the other producers of dry Chenin on the hill cannot legally use ‘Chaume’ on their labels. This hasn’t deterred Vanessa from continuing to make world-class dry wines, joining other growers on the hill to create their own name for dry Chenin made from vines on Chaume – Ronceray. This name has been adopted by growers to help promote the dry wines of Chaume, with its origin coming from the name of a 17th century monastery that made dry wines on the Chaume hill. Vanessa is unquestionably of the leaders of this qualitative surge in the area, with whites and reds of gorgeous purity and soaring minerality …. SUR LA BUTTE: Certified Biodynamic; 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc; from the lieux-dits ‘Clos de l’Etand’ and ‘Le Grand Lopin;’ 3 ha total on the Chaume hill, facing south; Plaisance owns the only red grapes on the Chaume hill; 35+ year old vines; spilite over schist bedrock; de-stemmed; 2-3 week maceration; indigenous yeast; fermented and aged in concrete for 11 months.” Skurnik

O'Shaughnessy Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
"The base 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is terrific, and while I don’t know the price, I suspect it’s a great value. Deep purple-hued, with terrific mulled currant and blackberry fruits, it has lots of ripe herbal, chocolaty spice notes, full-bodied richness, sweet tannins, and a great finish. This is pure Napa Valley goodness to drink over the coming 10-15 years. (Drink between 2022-2037)" 94 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com
"Notes of black cherries and cassis combine with cedar and vanilla on the nose of the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine that's almost equal parts Howell Mountain, Mt. Veeder and Oakville. It's medium to full-bodied, reasonably concentrated and already accessible, with plush tannins and a lingering finish." 92 Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

O'Shaughnessy Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain, California
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is an incredible wine, and it flirts with perfection. Full-bodied and concentrated, it has flawless balance and elegance as well as just textbook Howell Mountain notes of blue fruits, cassis, violets, graphite, and background oak. I love its tannins, it has remarkable purity of fruit, and a great, great finish. It has some appeal today yet deserves 4-5 years of bottle age and should have over two decades of longevity. (Drink between 2026-2042)" 98+ Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain offers lovely brightness and energy, all in a mid-weight style that is both appealing and surprisingly approachable for a young Howell Mountain wine. Sweet dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice, tobacco and lavender are all beautifully lifted in the glass. This is an especially gracious, polished Cabernet from Howell Mountain. The 2019 has so much to offer. Best of all, it should drink well with minimal cellaring. (Drink between 2026-2041)" 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com

Clos Mogador 2020, 0.75L
Grenache / Carignan / Syrah / Cabernet Sauvignon from Priorat, Catalunya
"The wine is more tannic and ... it matured exclusively in 2,000-liter oak foudre, and the impact of the wood is milder. A very good result, it's powerful but has good balance. The vintage is more tannic ..." 97 Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate
"Founded in 1979, the 20ha Clos Mogador lies at 350m altitude , surrounded by mountains up to 1,200m. The vines here grow on slate soils and the 2020 wine is a blend of 45% Garnacha, 29% Cariñena, 16% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented using 30% whole bunches and indigenous yeasts. The wine was aged entirely in 2,000L French oak foudres for 18 months before bottling. Beth Willard: A really dark and intense wine that speaks of the region. High-toned, perfumed notes and raspberry on the nose. Oak is well integrated. Big and rich, but with underlying elegance. Polished and serious. Diana Rollan: Dense and powerful nose with dark fruit, and notes of plum, black cherry, blueberries, sandalwood and dried herbs. Big and bold with pronounced tannins, but round and textured. David Williams: Complex nose with notes of blood orange, black cherry and Mediterranean herbs. Intensity but also drive on the palate; great mineral acidity, freshness." 95 Decanter Magazine

Vieux Château Certan 2017, 0.75L
Merlot/ Cabernet Franc/ Cabernet Sauvignon from Pomerol, Bordeaux
"Possibly the wine of the vintage, the 2017 Vieux Chateau Certan is a blend of 81% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from the highest point on the Pomerol plateau. Deep purple, with a heavenly bouquet of creme de cassis, blueberries, scorched earth, crushed violets, tobacco, and earth, this beauty is full-bodied, has incredible depth of fruit, ripe, present tannins, integrated acidity, and a great finish. This estate has been on fire of late, and this is undoubtedly a worthy follow-on to the otherworldly 2015 and 2016. It has the depth of fruit and texture to offer pleasure even today, yet a solid 7-8 years of cellaring are warranted, and it should be long-lived. Bravo!" 98 Jeb Dunnuck, Jebdunnuck.com, Feb 2020
"Just as it was en primeur, the 2017 Vieux Château Certan is regal and soaring right out of the glass. Inky blue and purplish fruit, chocolate, licorice, lavender, spice and mint come together in a dense, dark and powerful Pomerol. The 2017 is an explosive, vivid wine of monastic beauty. In this vintage, VCC is especially dark and somber, which adds to a real feeling of mysterious beauty. It is a towering achievement from Alexandre and Guillaume Thienpont." 98 Antonio Gallioni, Vinous, Vinous.com, Mar 2020
"Composed of 81% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Vieux Château Certan gives up gorgeous black raspberries, crushed black currants and warm black berries on the nose with chocolate-covered cherries, violets and star anise suggestions plus black truffles and wood smoke. The palate is medium to full-bodied with wonderful concentration in the mid-palate and firm, very finely pixelated tannins, with seamless freshness and fantastic length." 96-98 Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate, April 2018

La Gravette de Certan 2018, 0.75L
Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon from Pomerol, Bordeaux
"Currant, chocolate, wet-earth and cedar aromas follow through to a medium to full body with integrated, refined tannins that build on the palate and follow through in a polished way. Give it three or four years to open, as it seems rather tight. Almost all merlot with some cabernet sauvignon. Try after 2025." 95 James Suckling, Jamessuckling.com, Mar 2021
"The second wine of this beautiful estate certainly doesn't taste like a second wine, and the 2018 La Gravette De Certan certainly put a smile on my face. Based on 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in 50% new barrels, it has the same supple, seamless, sexy style of the Grand Vin, only with the volume turned down slightly. Redcurrants, truffle, tobacco, hints of chocolate, and damp earth all emerge on the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a beautiful core of sweet fruit, silky tannins, and a great finish. It can be drunk today or cellared for 15 years or more." 94 Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com
"The 2018 La Gravette de Certan is a gorgeous second wine. Pliant, creamy and so expressive, La Gravette is everything a second wine should be. Juicy dark cherry fruit, spice, licorice, new leather and lavender fill out the layers effortlessly. No, the 2018 is not quite the 2016, but it's close." 92 Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Vinous.com
