La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc 2024, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon from Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux
“The 2024 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, which has more Sémillon in the blend, was reticent on the nose and demanded more coaxing than usual, (reluctantly) offering scents of red apple, lime flower and crushed stone. The palate is more expressive with impressive weight and density. The 2024 is fresh and vibrant with palpable tension, revealing a tingle of lemongrass and stem ginger towards its sustained finish. When I returned to my glass after 20 minutes, the aromatics had burst open and shown their true colours, with hints of chai and popcorn and wonderful mineralité. This might turn out to be one of the best white La Missions in recent years.” 96-98, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025
“Light greenish yellow, silver reflections. White flowers, delicate tropical fruit, a hint of mango, mineral, a hint of lime zest. Juicy, elegant and balanced, white tropical fruit, delicate sweetness, fine acidity, secure development and certain ageing potential.” 94, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
“Based on 59% Semillon and 41% Sauvignon Blanc that had malolactic fermentation blocked and will spend 7 months in barrel, the 2024 Château La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc is another juicy, lively, almost racy yet still impressive white from this vintage. Tart lemon, pineapple, honeyed mineral, and minty, gooseberry notes all emerge on the nose, and it's medium-bodied, with a bright, crisp mouthfeel, terrific overall balance, and a great finish.” 92-94, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025

La Mission Haut-Brion 2024, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux
“Red and black currants, cold fireplace, violets, and a beautiful tobacco and lead pencil quality all emerge from the 2024 Château La Mission Haut-Brion, a medium-bodied Pessac based on 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46.5% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc. It's pretty and perfumed, with good intensity and a seamless, layered mouthfeel. The tannins are fine and integrated, giving it a graceful, approachable style that still holds to the classic La Mission profile. Compared to the more inward and structured Haut-Brion, this is more open-knit and front end-loaded. It should offer plenty of early appeal yet still have the class to evolve gracefully.” 93-95, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025
“The 2024 La Mission Haut-Brion has a beautifully defined bouquet with pure, mineral-led black fruit, hints of blueberry and a subtle sea spray influence. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chalky tannins. Fresh and vibrant, this La Mission feels very cohesive and sophisticated. No, there is not the depth and persistence of a top-drawer vintage, but its noticeable complexity is a cut above.” 93-95, Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2025
“Dark ruby garnet, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Delicate notes of cassis and cherries, fine tobacco savouriness, a hint of tobacco and herbs, delicate hint of nougat. Complex, juicy, fine blackberry fruit, fresh acidity, delicate extracted sweetness, mineral and well adhering, already developed, a lively style, has development and certain ageing potential.” 94, Peter Moser, Fallstaff, Apr 2025

Haut-Brion 2024, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux
"I wouldn't be surprised to see the 2024 Château Haut-Brion be the wine of the vintage, and while it's not going to make you forget any of the recent truly great releases, it has more depth, suppleness, and charm than the vast majority of wines in the vintage. Ripe blackcurrants, scorched earth, graphite, crushed stone, and violets all define the aromatics, and it has nicely integrated oak, a layered, ripe, seamless mouthfeel, and building tannins. It's a beautiful, layered, elegant Haut-Brion." 95-97, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025
“Dark ruby garnet, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Fresh cherries, fine herbal savouriness, a hint of blackberry confit, fresh orange zest, multi-faceted bouquet. Taut, elegant, ripe cherry fruit, fresh and persistent, shows good length, mineral finish, the spiciness of the Cabernet Franc is well expressed.” 95, Peter Moser, Fallstaff, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Haut-Brion, which contains more Cabernet Franc this year from a high-performing vat, has an altogether more polished, powerful and fruit-driven bouquet than La Mission at the moment. Black and blue fruit, black olive and subtle sea spray scents emerge with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, vibrant and focused, with fine tannins and an engaging underlying sapidity coming through with more weight and sustain on the finish. This is a very capable Haut-Brion that will not kowtow to the challenges of the 2024 season—rather, it seems to relish them.” 93-95, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025

Cos d'Estournel 2024, 1.5L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Estephe, Bordeaux
“The 2024 Cos d'Estournel was picked from September 23 to October 7 and matured in 50% new oak. This has an atypically powerful bouquet, revealing black fruit laced with graphite and gravelly scents. The palate has a Pauillac-like entry that's fresh but certainly intense. There's plenty of grip in this Cos d'Estournel that's a little sweeter and reassuringly persistent on the finish compared to its peers. It does not deliver the mineralité of a top-flight Cos d'Estournel, though there's certainly much more fruit intensity than you would expect given the growing season. I observed more classicism during my second record, which suggests that the depth of fruit may become more prominent during barrel maturation. Readers should note it displayed more depth and precision on my second visit on the final day in Bordeaux.” 93-95, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Cos d'Estournel is shaping up beautifully. Offering up aromas of sweet cassis, plums, pencil shavings and iris, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and suave, reflecting this estate's pivot to a more harmonious, less aggressively extracted style. With a layered, seamless core of fruit framed by plenty of sweet, powdery tannin, it's a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 1.5% Cabernet Franc and 0.5% Petit Verdot that checks in at 12.7% alcohol. Cos is an early-ripening terroir, and that clearly played to the relative strengths of the vintage. Harvest here began with the estate's old-vine Merlot on gravel on September 23, concluding with the last Cabernet Sauvignon on October 7.” 93-95, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Château Cos D'Estournel is a clear step up, with a concentrated, rich, yet still elegant profile. Cassis, graphite, crushed stone, and freshly sharpened pencil notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a focused, structured mouthfeel, good acidity, and building tannins. It's going to require patience but is clearly an outstanding Cos in the making. Based on 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 1.5% Cabernet Franc, and a splash of Petit Verdot, resting in 50% new oak, it hit 12.76% with a pH of 3.57 and an IPT of 71.” 93-95, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025
“Deep dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Delicately spicy, wild black berries, black cherries, tobacco, inviting cassis nuances underneath. Complex, juicy, elegant, fresh dark berries, pleasant fruit, ripe tannins, mineral, persistent, shows length and ageing potential.” 94, Peter Moser, Fallstaff, Apr 2025

Pichon-Longueville Baron 2024, 1.5L
Bordeaux Blend from Pauillac, Bordeaux
"A dense wine with good richness and concentration. Slightly chewy, with an almost full body and a tight-grained finish. Long, structured and powerful. Not a lighter year for Pichon Baron, thanks to the low yield of just around 20 hectoliters per hectare. 87% cabernet sauvignon and 13% merlot." 95-96, Zekun Shuai, James Suckling, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Pichon Baron was aged in 70% new oak. The nose is immediate and well-defined, with mineral-driven black fruit, a touch of pencil box and subtle estuarine scents. It is quintessential Pichon Baron. The palate is fresh and delineated on the entry, endowed with a core of sapid black olive tapenade-infused black fruit. I appreciate the energy that comes through, especially towards the second half, which maintains a sense of symmetry. It will be earlier drinking compared to the 2020 or 2022, but it is a successful Pauillac in the context of the challenging growing season, though it might require a little more time in bottle.” 92-94, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025
“Brilliant dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate rim brightening. Nuances of black cherry and cassis, delicate hints of nougat, candied orange zest, inviting bouquet. Medium body, mineral, red berries, fresh structure, lemony salty finish, a hint of currant in the aftertaste, will benefit from maturity.” 93, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025

Domaine de Chevalier Rouge 2024, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux
"Fine cocoa powder, cedar, minerals, currants and blue fruit. Juicy and medium- to full-bodied with fresh, firm tannins and a long, crunchy finish. It lingers well. 65% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot and 5% petit verdot." 95-96, Zekun Shuai, James Suckling, Apr 2025
“Dark ruby, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. On the nose, fresh red fruits of the forest confit, hints of sweet cherries, currants and spices, subtle tobacco nuances. Medium-bodied, notes of red cherries, freshly structured and balanced, with a hint of nougat on the mineral finish. Will benefit from bottle ageing.” 92-94, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Domaine de Chevalier was cropped at 48 hl/ha between September 20 and October 8. This is almost Burgundian in style, with a fragrant bouquet revealing pure blueberry and blackcurrant aromas alongside crushed violet and iris flower scents emerging with aeration. It is very comely and alluring. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. It's very harmonious and already in this prenatal stage, seductive. With finely chiseled tannins and more mineralité compared to the L'Esprit, this seems to glide on the finish. Just a lovely Pessac-Léognan for the vintage, though this year it must accept the silver medal as Olivier Bernard's white takes the gold.” 91-93, Neal Martin, Apr 2025

Domaine de Chevalier Blanc 2024, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc / Sémillon from Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux
"Beautiful perfumed aromas of fine cream, meringue, ripe guava and spices. Bright and acid-driven with medium to full body and a long, scented finish. Bone-dry and textured. Not a year of huge concentration, but a lot of freshness, length and energy make this a wine to consider seriously. 75% sauvignon blanc and 25% semillon." 96-97, Zekun Shuai, James Suckling, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc was cropped between September 4 and 16 at 48 hl/ha, with just a tad more Sauvignon in the blend this year. There is impressive intensity on the nose with scents of apple blossom, orange cordial and hints of yellow flowers. It unfolds wonderfully in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a winsome, slightly resinous texture, notes of ginger-infused orange pith and wild peach flavours. Very harmonious and tensile on the finish, this is gearing up to be a superb Domaine de Chevalier Blanc that could well end up at the upper end of my banded score.” 94-96, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025
“Pale yellow, green hints, silver reflections. An inviting bouquet, with delicate hints of lime, white topical fruit and a mineral touch. Medium-bodied, stone fruit nuances, freshly structured with a delicate sweetness and balanced acidity. An elegant wine, offering great drinking appeal and definite ageing potential.” 93, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025

The medium-bodied palate has firm tannins, a little chewy in a pleasant way with composure and bite on the finish. Beychevelle 2024, 1.5L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Julien, Bordeaux
“A pure, balanced, absolutely classy Saint-Julien, the 2024 Château Beychevelle is deep purple-hued with ample red, blue, and black fruits intermixed with notes of graphite, lead pencil, and background oak. It's balanced, medium-bodied, has polished tannins, the fresher, juicy acidity of the vintage, and a great finish. The blend is 55% Cabernet, 42% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot checking in at 13% alcohol with a pH of 3.57 and an IPT of 75.” 92-94+, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025
“Dark ruby, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Delicate blackberry notes, some nougat, black cherries with undertones of candied orange zest. Juicy, elegant, sweet red cherries, redcurrants, round tannins, good freshness, lingers, lively food wine with ageing potential.” 93, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Beychevelle was picked from September 24 until October 9 and will mature in 70% new oak. This has a nicely composed, warm and sensual bouquet with plush blackberry, cassis and touches of violet. The 42% Merlot is very expressive. The palate is medium-bodied with, again, quite luxuriant tannins that lend this Beychevelle more comeliness than you would anticipate given the growing season. Perhaps it just misses a little sustain on the finish, but otherwise, this is a fine Saint-Julien. 13.3% alcohol.” 91-93, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025

Mouton Rothschild 2024, 1.5L
Bordeaux Blend from Pauillac, Bordeaux
“One of the wines of the vintage, if not the wine of the vintage, the 2024 Château Mouton Rothschild checks in as a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot, hitting 12.9% alcohol and a pH of 3.71, that's resting in 100% new barrels. It sports a dense purple hue as well as absolutely rocking aromatics of blackcurrants, freshly sharpened pencils, graphite, and smoked tobacco. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a layered, opulent mouthfeel, velvety tannins, ample mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's an incredible achievement in the vintage that will need just 4-6 years of bottle age and have a broad, lengthy drinking window. Hats off to technical director Jean-Emmanuel Danjoy and the entire Mouton team.” 95-97, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025
“Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Fine cassis, black cherries, orange blossom, nougat, very inviting bouquet. Full-bodied, black cherries, ripe, silky tannins, structured with finesse, displays a very good length, a balanced, delicate Mouton with 12.9% alcohol, a real promise for the future. (100% new wood).” 96, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Mouton Rothschild, which has a little more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, was picked between September 23 and October 5 and aged for 18 months in 100% new oak. This has an understated bouquet with blackberry, cedar and graphite scents that take their time to unfold. The nose possesses very fine delineation though the oak is a little more prominent at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied and quite linear in style with fine tannins. A less flamboyant Mouton Rothschild in keeping with the style of the vintage, the 2024 discretely gains depth towards the finish and reveals a dash of white pepper on the aftertaste. Classy, very classy.” 94-96, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025

Clerc Milon 2024, 1.5L
Bordeaux Blend from Pauillac, Bordeaux
“Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Fine nougat, a hint of cassis, cherries, candied orange zest. Medium complexity, silky texture, fine fruit, finesse-rich structure, ripe tannins, mineral and persistent, already well developed and harmonious, can be enjoyed immediately.” 93, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Clerc Milon was picked from September 24 to October 6 and raised in 55% new oak with just a little more Cabernet than previous years. It has a fragrant bouquet with blackberry, briar and light iodine scents that unfold nicely in the glass, though it's not as vigorous as the top vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with finely cut tannins. It has moderate weight and density, with a pleasing sweetness of fruit that comes through on the finish. This Clerc Milon has an appealing sense of composure and it should age well in bottle.” 91-93, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025
“The Grand Vin 2024 Château Clerc Milon from this château checks in as 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, Carmenère, and Petit Verdot. The élevage here will span 18 months in 55% new barrels. As always, this has an incredible sense of minerality that reminds me of Saint-Émilion. Ripe black cherries, graphite, crushed stone, and floral notes, as well as nicely integrated oak, all define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, has a pure, layered mouthfeel, and ripe tannins.” 90-92, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025

"Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Fine cassis, black cherries, nuances of nougat, orange zest, inviting bouquet. Juicy, complex, fruity depth, lively structure, pleasant fruit, balanced, mineral, very successful, definite ageing potential." 94, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
“A serious wine that will delight patient purists, but which also showcases the new levels of purity and precision that this estate has been attaining since completion of the new winery, the 2024 Léoville Barton is a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Unwinding in the glass with notes of cassis, plums, pencil shavings and violets, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and impressively concentrated, with a taut but nicely integrated profile, concluding with a pure, penetrating finish.” 92-94, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Léoville Barton was picked from September 24 to October 5 and contains just a little more Cabernet Sauvignon than previous vintages. Matured in 60% new oak, this has an open bouquet with black fruit, potpourri and light sous-bois-scents - quintessentially Barton. The palate is medium-bodied, well balanced and sapid in style with slightly powdery tannins on the entry and a little sinew on the finish that should be abraded during barrel maturation. Montrose 2024, 1.5L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Estèphe, Bordeaux
“The 2024 Montrose has a little more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend due to the yields in a various parcels. It was picked between September 23 and October 7 and matured in 60% new oak. The well-defined and very able nose demonstrates classicism, fine delineation and a little more florality than the Terrasse III. The palate is medium- bodied with very finely chiselled tannins and a keen line of acidity. The symmetrical Saint-Estèphe is blessed with an elegant, sapid and reassuringly precise finish that the estate seems to have honed in the last few years. It does not have the unbridled ambition of, say the 2020 Montrose, but it is exceptionally well crafted and will become a fine Saint-Estèphe.” 94-96, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025
“A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, the 2024 Montrose is a serious, muscular effort that numbers among the wines of the vintage. Unwinding in the glass with notes of cassis, burning embers, cigar wrapper and iris, it's medium to full-bodied, dense and layered, with a lively spine of acidity, rich structuring tannins and a long, penetrating finish. With both the highest proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon recorded at Montrose and a rather low pH of 3.55, it will surely number among the longest lived 2024 Bordeaux.” 93-95, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2025
“Deep dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Delicately smoky and herbaceous undertones of wild black berries, fine cassis, blackberry jam, and nuances of oak, an attractive bouquet. Complex, tight-knit, dark cherries, ripe, first-class tannins, good freshness, a mineral finish, elegant, persistent, with length and potential, a classic aromatic profile.” 95, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025

Lynch-Bages 2024, 1.5L
Bordeaux Blend from Pauillac, Bordeaux
“Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Delicate notes of wood, goji berry, tobacco savouriness, some cassis and blackberry, attractive bouquet. Juicy, red berry, lively structure, mineral, a hint of nougat in the aftertaste, elegant and with maturity and certain ageing potential.” 93, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
The 2024 Lynch-Bages was cropped at just under 30 hl/ha and aged in 75% new oak for a planned 18 months. It has some initial reduction that is shaken off after several minutes. Very pure blackberry and blueberry fruit emerges with hints of melted tar and graphite and iodine eventually lends more complexity. The palate is medium-bodied and quite focused with grippy tannins that are impressive for their fineness. The 2024 possesses palpable mineralité and a poised finish. Though this does not touch the skyscraping heights that have been achieved in recent years, it is a “capable” Lynch-Bages that might warrant two or three years in the cellar and drink well for up to 15 years or possibly longer.” 91-93, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025

Smith-Haut-Lafitte Rouge 2024, 1.5L
Bordeaux Blend from Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux
“Dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, brightening on the edge. Delicate notes of blackberries, a hint of liquorice, still a little shy, a hint of fine oak, red berry nuances. Complex, fine red cherries, fresh acidity, mineral and salty, firm finish, fine cassis notes in the aftertaste, has good ageing potential.” 94, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Smith Haut Lafitte was picked from September 18 to October 9 and matured in 60% new oak. It has an understated bouquet that I appreciate, with scents of blackberry, raspberry, light rose petal and India ink that gradually unfurl in the glass. The Palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, extremely well balanced and very refined, with a linear and correct finish. This is a classy smith Haut Lafite that will provide up to 20 years of drinking pleasre.” 92-94, Neal Martin, Apr 2025
“Notes of spices, oak, dark berries and gentian preface the 2024 Smith Haut Lafitte, a medium-bodied, firm and structured wine with an assertive tannic frame that leads to a compact, gentian-inflected finish. This blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, matured in 60% new oak, is somewhat introverted and linear, making it a chewy Smith Haut Lafitte that will need time to unwind.” 90-92, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, Apr 2025

Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 2024, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc / Sémillon from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux
“The 2024 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc is a blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sauvignon Gris and 5% Sémillon, matured in 50% new oak. It needed a bit of aeration in the glass, eventually revealing scents of Anjou pear, gooseberry, white flowers and light flinty aromas. The palate is well balanced with lilting nectarine, pear and stem ginger notes. Fine weight and depth, with a judicious touch of spice towards the finish. The sapidity and linearity of this impressive Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc mean it should repay cellaring.” 94-96, Neal Martin, Vinous, Apr 2025
“Pale straw yellow, silver reflections. Smoky, fine herbal savouriness, delicate hints of candied grapefruit, white peach, nuances of gooseberry, attractive bouquet. Juicy, very precise and clear, fine yellow fruit nuances, elegant, fresh, well-balanced acidity, crystalline minerality, very good length, sure and certain ageing potential.” 95, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
“Floral and complex, the 2024 Blanc from Smith Haut Lafitte offers up aromas of white peach, apricot, spices and spring blossoms. Medium-bodied, round and layered, it's sappy and seamless with an incisive mid-palate and a long, ethereal and refreshing finish. Matured in 50% new oak, this blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sémillon and 5% Sauvignon Gris represents a strong effort.” 92-94, Yohan Castaing, Apr 2025

Cheval Blanc 2024, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Emilion, Bordeaux
“Deep dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, delicate rim brightening. Delicate nougat, a hint of cassis and savouriness, with ripe cherry in the background, fine wood nuances, multi-faceted, inviting bouquet. Taut, medium body, ripe tannins, fresh and elegant, still somewhat closed, mineral, good persistence, this wine definitely needs time to integrate the tannins, sure development and certain ageing potential.” 96, Peter Moser, Falstaff, Apr 2025
“A blend of 48% Cabernet Franc, 48% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2024 Château Cheval Blanc is one of the stars of the vintage. Unwinding in the glass with notes of minty berries and plums mingled with violets, cigar wrapper and rose petals, it's medium-bodied, suave and complete, with a cool, layered core of fruit, beautifully integrated tannins and a long, aromatic finish. Pierre-Olivier Clouet and his team conducted an aggressive green harvest and also, exceptionally, used densimetric sorting to mitigate heterogenous maturity between and within bunches (a consequence of a protracted flowering), accepting losses to rot in pursuit of full maturity. Yields were 39 hectoliters per hectare at harvest, but some 34% of that was eliminated between sorting and press wine (which is never retained at Cheval Blanc). Of what fermented, however, 70% ended up in the grand vin.” 94-96, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2025
“The 2024 Cheval Blanc was picked from September 18 until October 3 and aged entirely in new oak with a little dabbling in concrete tanks and amphorae. The purity on the nose is the first facet that you notice with perfumed black cherry, blackcurrant, wild strawberry and touches of potpourri and crushed stone. There is certainly some mineralité here. The palate is medium-bodied with a slighty brittle tannins. Very well balanced, this is clearly a Cheval Balnc built in a more elegant, sapid, linear style with a residual pepperiness that lingers in the mouth. It will need just 2 or 3 years in bottle and should drink well for 20 to 25 years. The 2024 is charming and refined.” 93-95, Neal Martin, Apr 2025

Angelus 2024, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Emilion, Bordeaux
“The 2024 Angelus is very fine. It is the first vintage I have tasted that captures the newer approach at Angelus, one where the wine are not as extracted as in the past. Black cherry, plum, spice, new leather and menthol fill out the layers effortlessly. Here too, the wine shows superb balance and real textural presence. The blend is 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc, with the Merlot being raised in 80% new oak and 20% once filled barrels, and the Cabernet Franc in equal parts foudres and new smaller French oak barrels. The 2024 is mid-weight, classy and polished.” 93-95, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2025
“A blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc, cropped at a very honorable 40 hectoliters per hectare, the 2024 Angélus has turned out well, offering up aromas of dark berries, minty plums and violet, framed by a deft touch of toasty oak. Medium-bodied, ample and suave, it's polished and textural, with sweet but present tannins and creditable persistence on the finish.” 90-93, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2025

Carruades de Lafite 2024, 1.5L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Pauillac, Bordeaux
“The 2024 Carruades de LaLafite is plush, sensual and inviting right out of the gate. Soft contours wrap around a core of plum, black cherry, gravel, incense, licorice and baking spice. This is a rare Carruades that is Merlot-driven. It’s a balance that works quite well. This showy, inviting Carruades is quite the charmer.” 91-93, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2025
“Gorgeous deep plum colour, very juicy, extremely well handled, savoury and mouthwatering, cassis bud, roses, crayon, shorter on the finish than a typical Carruades, but this has plenty of subtle pleasure and will be ready to drink sooner than usual. Harvest 23 September to 7 October, 32hl/h yield, 47% of the harvest is in this wine, 12% press.” 92, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Apr 2025

Lafite Rothschild 2024, 1.5L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Pauillac, Bordeaux
“The 2024 Lafite-Rothschild is a sensual, elegant wine very much in style of the year. Plush and enveloping, with lovely forward fruit, the 2024 is very Lafite, perhaps a bit reticent, but super-expressive just the same. Black cherry, pomegranate, blood orange and a kiss of espresso all build in the glass, framed by quintessentially finessed Lafite tannins. The 2024 is sublime. I expect it will be one of the top wines in the Médoc when all is said and done.” 94-96, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2025
“Rich texture, this stands head and shoulders above many in the vintage, with graphite, crayon, cassis bud rather than exuberant black fruits, this is precise, savoury, delineated, floral, gunsmoke, juicy, captures the effortless elegance that Lafite does so so well, and it totally delivers. Harvest 23 September to 7 October, 32hl/h yield, above the Pauillac average, 16% press wine included in the blend. Director Eric Kohler's 33rd year in Pauillac. I am giving a slightly earlier begin drinking date, but I am certain this will age exceptionally well as Lafite always does. Slightly earlier starting date for drinking than usual, eight years following harvest.” 95, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Apr 2025

Pontet-Canet 2024, 1.5L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Pauillac, Bordeaux
"The 2024 Pontet-Canet underlines the fact that daring to harvest late paid dividends in this challenging vintage, wafting from the glass with aromas of cassis, black raspberries and plums mingled with accents of rose petals, licorice and exotic spices. Medium to full-bodied, deep and integrated, with mid-palate density that's all too rare this year, it's layered, suave and seamless, concluding with a long, sapid finish. Picking began on September 26 and concluded on October 11, with the heart of the estate's old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon coming in between the seventh and the ninth, well after many châteaux had finished their harvest. Greater reactivity during the season means that Pontet-Canet's vineyards are gaining in vigor, while in the winery, a lighter touch with extraction, systematic climate control and a wholesale refinement of the estate's cooperage choices have brought new harmony and sensuality to this estate's wines. That has combined with a willingness to take risks with harvest dates to deliver what is clearly one of the wines of the vintage. The blend is roughly half Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with the balance Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc." 94-96, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2025
“Vibrant ruby in colour with Violet edging, this is beautifully measured, with a careful release of black fruits. Puts the focus on the floral side of Cabernet Sauvignon, with rose petals, chamomile, fragrant tomato leaf and lilac. There is austerity on the opening, with tight architecture, but as it opens juice begins to flow through the pumice and slate-textured tannins, and this delivers a finessed, slim-style of Pauillac, with plenty of ageing potential and quiet confidence. One of the successes of the vintage. Harvest September 26 through to October 11. 3.8ph, 50% new oak, 35% concrete amphoras. Tasted twice.” 94, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Apr 2025

Carruades de Lafite 2015, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Pauillac, Bordeaux
“Lead-pencil aromas with currants and plums, too. Full body, silky tannins and a focused and very refined finish. It's the tannins that drive things. An excellent second wine of Lafite. Needs two or three years to soften. Start drinking in 2021.” 94, James Suckling, Feb 2018
“The second wine of Lafite Rothschild is the 2015 Carruades De Lafite and is a beautiful wine in its own right. Based on 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc brought up mostly in used barrels, it has classy notes of cassis and lead pencil shavings as well as a medium to full-bodied, elegant, beautifully balanced style on the palate. It’s not a massive wine by any stretch, yet it exudes class and elegance, and is already a joy to drink.” 92, Jeb Dunnuck, Nov 2017
“A blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc and aged for 18 months in barrels, 10% new, the 2015 Carruades de Lafite is medium to deep garnet-purple colored and just a little closed at this youthful stage, revealing delicate notes of red and black plums, black cherries and dried herbs plus touches of pencil lead, cedar chest and beef drippings. Medium-bodied, refreshing and with a well-played chewy texture, although just a baby in terms of evolution, it has an accessible structure, finishing long and savory.” 91, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Feb 2018

La Gaffeliere 2021, 0.75L

The aromatics alone are beguiling but everything about the 2021 speaks to elegance. Crushed red berry fruit, rose petals, blood orange, mint and saline notes punctuate the finish." 95-97, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2022
"A very precise and curated wine with ultra-fine tannins that run the length of the wine. Medium body. Dark berry and dark chocolate flavors and a creamy finish. Classy." 94-95, James Suckling, May 2022
"One of the gems out there, the 2021 Château Canon-La-Gaffelière is well worth seeking out. Giving up ample blue fruits, medium to full-bodied richness, ripe tannins, and complex, pure aromatics of violets, iron, and tobacco, it shines for its balance and elegance while bring terrific depth of fruit. Count me impressed." 93-95, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2022
"A notable success in this vintage, the 2021 La Gaffelière offers up aromas of sweet cherries and berries mingled with notions of licorice, loamy soil and spices. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and enveloping, it's supple and charming, with a fleshy core of fruit, lively acids and ripe, powdery tannins, concluding with impressive persistence. Tasted four times, twice at the château." 92-94, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2022

Connétable Talbot 2019, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Julien, Bordeaux
“So much sweet tobacco and currant on the nose here, following through to a full body with relatively soft tannins for the appellation. Berry and dark-chocolate character to this. Round tannins. Needs three or four years to soften. Second wine of Talbot.” 92, James Suckling, Jan 2022
“Solidly built, showing plum and cassis notes laced with an anise hint, while singed apple wood pervades on the finish, which also features a late twinge of tar. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2031. 19,166 cases made, 833 cases imported.” 90, Wine & Spirits Magazine

Cos d'Estournel Blanc 2023, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc / Sémillon from Bordeaux, Bordeaux
“This shows real precision and sophistication. Tight and dense palate that is concentrated but not heavy, with intensity and minerality. Sea salt and white pepper at the end. This is really at the top level of dry white Bordeaux now. 70% sauvignon blanc and 30% semillon.” 97-98, James Suckling, May 2024
“The 2023 Château Cos D'Estournel Blanc includes slightly more Semillon and checks in as 70% Sauvignon and 30% Semillon, raised in just 7% new French oak, with the rest in once-used barrels. A selection made mostly in the cellar, it has a vivid gold hue as well as a stunning nose of ripe lemon, honeyed flowers, mint, crushed stone, and subtle hints of toast. Gorgeously textured, medium to full-bodied, and balanced, with the bright, almost racy acidity of the vintage, it's pure class.” 95-97, Jeb Dunnuck, May 2024
“The 2023 Cos d'Estournel Blanc is quite powerful and not especially aromatic today. At this stage, it is mostly the wine's body that makes an impression. The 2023 has good depth, but it is clearly not expressive today. It will be interesting to see what time brings.” 91-93, Antonio Galloni, Apr 2024
“A delicately, exotic bouquet of ripe orchard fruits, white fruits, lemongrass and spring flowers preface the 2023 Cos d'Estournel Blanc, a fleshy, ample and satiny wine that’s fresh and elegant with bright acids and a slightly lactic and mouthwatering finish. It’s a blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon.” 90-92, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, Apr 2024

Leoville Barton 2016, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Julien, Bordeaux
“Deep purple-colored and a classic Saint-Julien with its pure crème de cassis, graphite, liquid rock, and essence of lead pencil shavings, the 2016 Château Léoville Barton is full-bodied, concentrated, and backward, with bright acidity and ripe yet certainly present and building tannins. This old-school, classic Léoville Barton has a fine thread of acidity keeping the wine focused and fresh. It’s a beauty, but mostly potential at this point, although it does have beautiful fruit. Savvy readers will hide bottles at the back of their cellar, and I wouldn’t start to think about opening bottles for a least a decade. It’s going to be incredibly long-lived. The blend of the 2016 is 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot, brought up in 60% new French oak.” 96+, Jeb Dunnuck, Feb 2019

Beau-Sejour Becot 2019, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux
"Deep, dark, rich, full-bodied, concentrated and vivacious, the wine is packed with dark, black and red pit fruits, crushed stones, chocolate, licorice, flowers and forest leaf. The wine is powerful, refined, deep and fresh, with a finish that resonates with all of its ripe fruits and a touch of salinity in the long finish. This is their third vintage with Thomas Duclos as the consultant and each year seems to get better and better here. They are certainly on a hot roll at Beau-Sejour Becot these days! Give the wine a few years in the bottle and enjoy it for at least 2 decades after that. Drink from 2026-2055." 97, Jeff Leve. The Wine Cellar Insider, Mar 2022

Lafite Rothschild 2024, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Pauillac, Bordeaux
Slightly earlier starting date for drinking than usual, eight years following harvest.” 95, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Apr 2025

d'Yquem 2016, 0.375L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux
"A very classic Yquem. Breathtakingly wide spectrum of floral honey, exotic fruit (passion fruit, mango and pineapple), caramel and marzipan aromas. But none of this is a jot too much. In fact, the wine is extremely precise and finely nuanced. Wonderful freshness and textural complexity, in spite of the considerable concentration and extravagance. Very suave and sensual finish that goes on and on. Drink or hold." 99 James Suckling
"The 2016 Chateau D’Yquem is pure magic and dessert wines don’t get much better. Offering a pale gold color as well as a blockbuster bouquet of honeyed tangerines, tart apricots, liquid rocks, white flowers, and honeysuckle, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, an opulent texture, vibrant acidity, and again, an incredible sense of minerality, despite having no shortage of sweetness or richness. The 2016 is a classic blend of 75% Sémillon and 25% Sauvignon that hit 14.2% alcohol with 135 grams of residual sugar. It’s already complex and approachable yet will keep for 3-4 decades." 99 Jeb Dunnuck
"Containing 135 grams per liter of residual sugar, the pale lemon-gold colored 2016 d'Yquem leaps from the glass with honeyed apricots, pineapple, green mango, crushed rocks, candied ginger, coriander seed and citrus peel with hints of orange blossom. The palate is very tightly wound, vibrant and refreshing with layer upon layer of minerals and spices, finishing with epic poise and persistence." 98+ Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate

Leoville Las Cases 2018, 1.5L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from St. Julien, Bordeaux
"Pure magic and one of the finest expressions of this estate I could imagine, as well as a perfect wine, the 2018 Château Léoville Las Cases comes from a mix of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc that spent 19 months in (I believe) all new French oak. Its dense purple color is followed by a profound wine loaded with notions of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, melon, crushed stone, tobacco, and violets. Full-bodied, concentrated, and massive on the palate, yet also incredibly well delineated and precise, it has a wonderful mix of seemingly ripe, sunny fruit from a warm year yet the minerality, purity, and precision of a cooler year. This wine is going to be just about immortal; however, do your best to hide bottles for a solid 10-15 years. Drink: 2031-2081." 100 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, Mar 2021

Haut Batailley 2017, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Pauillac, Bordeaux
"The 2017 Haut-Batailley is powerful, dark and racy. Dark cherry, gravel, smoke, menthol, licorice and spice all pulse with notable energy and tons of Cabernet Sauvignon savoriness. For such a big wine, Haut-Batailley has quite a bit of nuance, but it is the sense of vibrancy here that is compelling. (Drink between 2022-2042)" 94 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

Quintus 2021, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Malbec from St. Emilion, Bordeaux
"The brightness and transparency of the aromas are impressive, with fresh flowers, blue fruit, crushed stones, lavender and orange blossoms. Medium-bodied, with a tight and focused palate of linear and integrated tannins. Fresh and tangy. Vivid at the end. A unique expression of the vintage and St. Emilion, with so much crunchy fruit. 68.2% merlot, 31.3% cabernet franc and 0.5% malbec." 95, James Suckling, Apr 2024
"The 2021 Quintus is the most elegant wine I have ever tasted here, by a wide measure. Nearly half of this fruit is from the former Grand Pontet property, and that fruit seems to bring a measure of aromatic intensity and freshness these wines have lacked in some vintages. All the elements are so well balanced. Bright saline notes linger on the finish. This is impressive for the year." 92-94, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2022

Haut-Brion 2021, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux
"A very structured young Haut-Brion with blackberry, blackcurrant, black-olive and mushroom character. Medium to full-bodied with a driving balance of firm and ripe tannins and gorgeous fruit." 97-98, James Suckling, May 2022
"A candidate for the title of wine of the vintage, the 2021 Haut-Brion unwinds in the glass with aromas of rich red and black fruit mingled with notions of cigar wrapper, licorice, black truffles, loamy soil and burning embers. Full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's elegant and multidimensional, with superb depth at the core, lively acids and ultra-refined tannins. Combining the classical proportions of the vintages of two decades ago with the viticultural and winemaking of today, it's a timeless classic in the making, but it's difficult to find an obvious analogy with an older vintage. When pressed, Jean-Philippe Delmas suggests a superior version of the 2014 vintage, and to me, a more concentrated, serious version of the 2012 vintage also comes to mind. What is clear, however, is that this is one of the real high points of 2021. The blend is 50% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Cabernet Franc, and it attained 13.8% alcohol—a percentage point or so lower than in 2020 or 2019." 96-98, William Kelley, Apr 2022
"One of the absolute stand out wines on 2021 with an electric appeal almost unrivalled in the vintage. Blackcurrant leaf, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, rose petals, sweet cherries and bramble fruits on the nose. Incredibly lively and energetic on the palate with a burst of sharp, sweet and sour fruits that just fills the mouth coated by chalk, slate and pencil lead mineral tannins that give a intensity while the fruit persistency lingers above and through to the long finish. Such delicacy yet multi-layered and full of concentration, clear ripeness and power, though delivered with suaveness and style. Tannins are firm and robust, mouthfilling, no doubt about that, but they give the structure and frame to the plush and plump fruit which also has such a crystalline purity to it. I love the intensity and also these spicy bitter dark chocolate and liquorice elements on the finish which give nuance." 97, Georgie Hindle, Decanter, Mar 2022
"As with the Clarence, the 2021 Château Haut-Brion is a darker, richer, more powerful wine. Currants, smoked black cherries, graphite, chocolate, and tobacco notes all define the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a straight, focused, beautifully precise mouthfeel, gorgeous yet substantial tannins, and a great finish. It's going to hit maturity in 7-8 years and have 30 years of longevity or more." 95-97, Jeb Dunnuck, Jun 2022
"The 2021 Haut-Brion is all class, all finesse. Naturally the overt intensity of recent vintages is replaced by a more understated style in 2021. Silky tannins caress a core of dark cherry/plum fruit. Hints of lavender, new leather, cloves and menthol gradually open. The trademark Haut-Brion aromatics are going to need a number of years in bottle to develop." 95-97, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2022

Palmer 2022, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Margaux, Bordeaux
“So much class in the nose with a sophisticated kaleidoscope of dark fruit such as blackcurrants, and spices such as salt and pepper, as well as cloves and nutmeg. Full-bodied. Compacted and dense yet weightless. It opens beautifully. The tannins go on and on with wonderful presence. Salty undertones.” 98-99 James Suckling,Apr 2023
"The 2022 Palmer was cropped at just 22hL/ha due to the berries being 25-30% smaller than usual. It bursts forth on the nose with precocious black cherries, blueberry, violet and touches of marmalade and tobacco in the background. Complex and expressive. The palate is structured, with the tannic backbone, that winemaker Thomas Duroux talked about, lending this Palmer a sense of verticality. Hints of black pepper emerge with time, multi-layered, a powerful Margaux and yet the IPT is actually lower than elsewhere (76). Quite linear on the tobacco-infused finish, which is just quintessential Palmer. Do reserve a bin in your cellar for this and let it gather dust for at least a decade. 14.4% alcohol." 96-98 Neil Martin, Vinous
The 2022 Château Palmer is utterly brilliant, so much so that I questioned in my notes if this would challenge the 2018. A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, from tiny yields of 22 hectoliters per hectare, its mammoth-sized personality offers layers of blue and black fruits, notes of melted chocolate, crushed stone, and spring flowers, building, velvety tannins, and a great, great finish. 97-99 Jeb Dunnuck
